Has anyone read this?

I am at the minute and not entirely sure that I 'get it'.....

Is the title of the book really that long?

I dont get the title - ive no idea about the content!

It was recommended in a magazine. (SHe/Red/Cosmo- can't remember which)

It is in the form of a auction catalogue that is supposed to tell the story of the couple (Lenore & Harold) getting together, their relationship and ultimately their breakup.

I thought it would be more 'novel-ly' with bit and pieces from the catalogue.

I read an extract from it in a Sunday mag. The premise is this: a novel in the form of an auction catalogue. A love story indeed, but told after the end of the affair when all the couple's shared stuff, photos and gifts etc, are going up for auction.

Very contrived- I mean, unless a couple are big slebs, no one would ever put that shite into auction because no one would buy it. But it's a nice idea. I quite enjoyed the extract. I'm not sure it could sustain me for a full length book though.

Just looked...the book gets 5 stars in Amazon by the 2 reviewers.....

ohhh I never let a book beat me, so I'll stick with it, but just wanted someone to say 'Yes, I've read it....slow to start but gets better and is actually quite brilliant'

It litterally is a catalogue....little pictures of the items and brief desciptions of each.

A handwritten letter from Doolan to Morris. Reads in part:"Love the haircut. Am working on a criossant story. All coming out wrong. See pics! XX."

Ok....I read it all last night. It turned out that there is very little reading in it because of all the pictures/photographs.

It did not get any better.

It is going to local charity shop tomorrow!!!

Hopefully this is abit more enjoyable/informative.

Decided against the charity shop. I put it on amazon.....never done that before.

I liked the Lot which was the unused cinema tickets

It was a picture book for adults. No real story to follow.

There is a story to follow though. The story of their relationship - as told through the artifacts. Like the unused cinema tickets, and the notes and the presents they sent each other, and so on.

Yeah, I see that, but why not? Because it wasn't a novel? I like all the work you do as a reader - like the unused cinema tickets, and how little bombs are dropped in - her temper, his difficulty to commit. I really liked the lot of their respective travelling bags - all those pills he takes!

I think it's quite clever and fun.

They are ver poncy though
