Has anybody read it ? And is it any good ?

I have ordered it from Amazon (possibly after a glass of wine or two ) . I think it was with the intention of giving it to a friend for christmas but now it has arrived (and I am sober) I am thinking it is a bit as a christmas gift .

Am I right ?

Hmm - I am reading it at the moment. I would have liked it as a present but I can't think of many/any friends who would appreciate it. I really like it so far and I don't usually like graphic novels. It is quite political and sometimes shocking as it is from a child's point of view. I guess if your friend is political or intellectual then they will enjoy it.
(love your name by the way - takes me back to long car journeys with my Dad)

Thank you chewytoffee , I think I might just keep it for myself . It does look good but as you say a bit of a tricky one to give as a gift . I am pleased to hear that it is a good read .

The Travelling Wilburys and the Beatles were our standard fare on long journeys too .

It's brilliant (and so is the movie adaptation)

I am glad you both like the look of it . I had no idea there was a movie as well . When I ordered it I recognised it but didn't really know where from .

I am quite looking forward to reading it now . It just has the look of a book that I will be glad I have read rather than be glad I am reading iyswim .

I am thinking now that maybe I will give it to her after all , she is of the "buy something from Amnesty " rather than shite so I do think she will like it . I just thought it might look a bit worthy iykwim .

I got it from DH as a pressie, really enjoyed it, not really worthy due to the feisty rebellious nature of the heroine, thought of her a lot when they had all those demo's in Iran recently.

didn't know it started out as a graphic novel but it makes sense - was really taken by the film.

I would like it as a present but I can't think of any friends I would give it to. Maybe my sister.
