she did French A-level with me - well, until she dropped out early - so am not really tempted to put money in her pocket!

Kathy Lette book 'Mad Cows'? That was utter shite. I felt dirty after reading it ( I only managed a couple of pages tbh).

Can't be as bad as the one by Dave Eggers in which his parents die of cancer and he ends up bringing up his youger brother - over 550 small print pages of him exaning his thoughts / motives etc - I nearly lost the will to live !!!

No no no - I have just put the worst book in to our recycling!

'Jane' by..can't remember, some woman...Amazon sent it to us free and it reads like a cross between Mills and Boon and a religious tract -horrendous. The main character finds true love combined with a weird and very cringy religious 'journey' and the first chapter seemed to tacitly condone child abuse and domestic violence; it's terribly sexist AND appallingly written to boot.

Just cos DH has previously bought theology texts...

Many worst books ever written by standup comedians. Also Alan Titchmarsh.

I read an Alan Titchmarsh novel once and liked it.

...maybe 'novel' is stretching the point.

Book, then!

A place called here by Cecelia Ahern is definitely worthy of being thrown across the room very hard. Utter rubbish from beginning to end-and yes I did actually read to the end in the vain hope that it at least had a plot that came to a conclusion.

I did read her other books and thought them okay for light suspension-of-disbelief reading. This one was obviously churned out in about 2 weeks.

Sorry, you are wrong about Cecelia Ahern's other books being OK - 'P.S. I Love You' is utter drivel!

I started reading 'How to walk in High Heels', and now i know why there are so many copies of it in charity Shops.

Because it's crap crappity crap.

I bought 'how to walk in high heels' as part of a 3 for 2 and felt like scrubbing myself afterwards, it was insulting, weak and utter utter shite...

Report
GodzillasBumcheek · 30/07/2009 01:34

I might burn my copy. Or pee on it. Either way it's not going back to Charity so some other poor sap can buy it

I agree - How to Walk In High Heels was a pile of drivel.

I would like to add Ambition by Julie Birchill to this list. I am (or was at the time anyway) and avid reader of chick fic, trash and especially anything with lots of sexy bits in it.

Despite the fact that this book fulfilled all the above criteria, I couldn't even finish this book. In fact I put it down after the fourth chapter.

Self absorbed, smug, badly written, mindless shite.

"I would like to add Ambition by Julie Birchill"

See there's your problem. While Julie Birchill may once have been human, she's changed slowly into a walking bucket of bile. Her newspaper columns are like rubbing your brain with a paving slab; I could'nt wade through a book of her prose.
