Just wondered what everybody's favorite book is and why you like it so much.

i love reading Jemima J by Jane Green as it gives me motivation to get off my back side and get stuff done.

That's too difficult to answer - esp if you just want one book. I have so many favourites, as my son would say when talking about food. Here's a short list though:

Wind up bird chronicle by Haruki Murakami
Infinite Jest by David Foster Wallace (reading now: amazing book and defo up there in top ten)
Cider with Rose by Laurie Lee
Secret History by Donna Tartt
Love in the Time of Cholera by Gabriel Garcia Marquez
World According to Garp by John Irving
Fungus the Bogeyman by Raymond Briggs
The Big Bag of Worries, can't remember who by (another children's book)
Concise Oxford English Dictionary
Little Women by Louisa M. Alcott

That'll do for starters!

Just one? Ooh, it changes all the time but I've always loved Through A Glass Darkly by Jostein Gaarder...and Miss Smilla's Feeling For Snow by Peter Hoeg...and A Very Long Engagement by Sebastien Japrisot. The first because the tale is so simply told and I have tears in my eyes at the end, every time. The second because I enjoyed how the story unfolded and the heroine wasn't typical. The third I adored from the first reading and the film version was very true to the story, it gave me faith in love and humanity which lacks some time.

And I could go on for a very long time as I've not even started on favourite childrens books!
