In June of this year, I'm finally fulfilling a long-held (15+ years..) wish to go to Florence.
I fully intend to do a spot of literary tourism while I'm out there (very fast because we only have 5 days), and am interested in recommendations of must-read books set in, about, inspired by or in any other way connected with Florence.
My list so far:
Dante (don't sneer, I did an Italian paper at university and still have the parallel translations)
Brownings Robert and Elizabeth Barrett
Michael Dibdin - A Rich Full Death
Ross King - Brunelleschi's Dome
Mary McCarthy - The Stones of Florence
I'm particularly keen to read a bit more fiction.
Any ideas? TIA...
