An odd choice for a summer holiday, but I teach primary so want something as far away as far away from The Rainbow Fish as possible.

Looking for recommendations of non-fiction, I love anything Middle East related (preferably post ottoman era), or maybe something on the UK left in the 70s/80s.

I don't really know anything about East Asia in the 20th century, so would be really interested to see if anyone has any recs for that topic.

I'd like to read something on the Korean War, but am up for any war to be honest.

I am finding Amazon and Waterstones and the like useless for non-fiction, I'm searching regions and topics that I am interested in and I just get a load of bloody travel guides.

Have you tried searching the listopia on Goodreads? They are bound to have something that appeals.

Heirs to the forgotten kingdoms by Gerard Russell. Russell is diplomat with extensive experience in the middle east and is writing about the disappearing religious minorities. Fabulous book!

On Amazon did you try dept filter books, then history, then countries and regions then take your pick from the regions that brings up, then click on Asia or whatever?
