Holiday trash recommendations

Looking for some fiction recommendation for my upcoming holiday to read by the pool. I usually read fantasy or political non fiction- but I am in the market for some absolute dross.

I don't want British chick lit, not a fan of Sophie Kinsella and the like.

The last thing that was vaguely what I was looking for was the Shanghai Baby series from the Chinese author Wei Hui. Travel, locations, details of elaborate cocktails and dinners, handsome men, ridiculous melodrama and and an adequate scoop of erotica.

Can someone suggest something that I'd vaguely enjoy along those lines? I basically want a porny, exotic soap opera.

the last thing *that I read

Not quite the same thing, but might suit if you like fantasy/steampunk. The Parasol Protectorate series has handsome werewolves, ridiculous melodrama, a rather fabulous heroine and a reasonable amount of bodice ripping

JJ Salem, Tan Lines. Trash of the highest, most wonderful order!

I read Lace on a recent holiday.

Mrs I've read a review that says that JJ Salem names the brand of every piece of clothing that his characters put on- that's a sign of what I'm looking for! gringringrin

Am presuming you've already read everything ever written by Jackie Collins and Jilly Cooper! grin

LavenderSugar Sun 19-Jun-16 10:29:52

I haven't read everything....grin

I was hoping I'd get some international suggestions that I hadn't heard of. I may just buy Shanghai Baby again. I loved that awful book.

Ooh - try Tasmina Perry. With novels titled "Gold Diggers" and "Guilty Pleasures", how can you go wrong?

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross Sun 19-Jun-16 10:55:50

And Louise Bagshaw (formerly Louise Mensch, Conservative MP for Corby). Her books are not anything like you'd expect given that brief bio!

Sorry - am not good on this kind of fiction beyond English and American writers.

Thank you! smile

The Movie by Louise Bagshawe, utter trash. It's fantastic grin

Anything by Sidney Sheldon or Nigel May - his characters are over the top Dallas/Dynasty style soap opera and brilliant fun!

Victoria Fox is suitably glamorous and trashy. And I'll second the Louise Bagshawe suggestion - and the earlier ones by her sister Tilly which are in a similar vein.

I love a good glam cheesy read for holidays - Rebecca Chance is my suggestion. smile

I loved Shaghai Baby too. She has written a follow up, called Marrying Buddha, but it's not as good.

Try Rebecca Chance - "Mile High" is adventures at cruising altitude and she has plenty of friends in airlines who share with her what goes on in First Class.... combines lravel, locations, details of elaborate cocktails and dinners, handsome men, ridiculous melodrama and and (more than!!!) an adequate scoop of erotica.

Thanks Sadiq... Parasol Protectorate bookmarked ready for Operation Vegetate in Sunshine!

Sadik Mon 20-Jun-16 22:25:03

Hope you enjoy it, Alpaca smile

Anything by Penny Vicenzi! Not that much erotica though, but engaging trash, ideal for a sunlounger.
