I am waiting for two books to be released, The Widow by Fiona Barton and Judith Wants To Be Your Friend by Annie Weir.

Both books come out this month, and you can order The Widow in hardback for £6.49 at the moment.

I've just ordered both and now I'm itching for them to arrive.

The Widow is about a woman whose husband was accused of kidnapping a two year old child. His wife, Jean, stood by him, but now he has died Jean has started to tell her own story of the life they shared.

Judith Wants To Be Your Friend is about a woman who stalks people and infiltrates their lives, becoming a good friend to Joanna, until Joanna's mother digs a bit too deeply and the secrets Judith has been hiding from come back to haunt her.

I absolutely cannot wait to get started on either one of them.

Just wondered if anyone else is also eagerly awaiting them, or anything else due out soon, and if so, what is it you are waiting for?

New Marian Keyes in March or April - it's a collection of her journalism rather than a novel but I'm still excited!

The Mirror & the Light.

The third Cromwell novel by Hilary Mantel.

It was meant to be out by now but still isn't & no date.

I will be pre ordering as soon as it is available.

Is there any news at all about the third Cromwell novel? A bit concerned about the delay.

I've heard of The Widow but going to wait to skim read some more reviews of it as I'm sceptical about heavily marketed books by debut authors.

I'm looking forward to these books:

Louise Doughty - Black Water
Alan Bennett - Diaries
Anthony Quinn - Freya
Brendan King - Beryl Bainbridge: A Life
Mark Haddon - The Pier Falls

The Observer have published a list here of more books out this year.

The third Cromwell novel too.

Book 6 of ASOIAF. Slightly panicked GRR Martin will croak before he finishes.

And I heard a rumour of a new Jilly Cooper a couple years ago that I'm still waiting for.

I have eclectic reading tastes.

I'm looking forward to Elly Griffith's new book which is due out in February I think, can't wait to read more about Ruth and Nelson!

I'm really looking forward to the 3rd of the seven sisters books by Lucinda Riley, ive just finished the 2nd one and wish I had the next one now!

Also just seen that Rachel Hore has a new book out next month, love her books, so hope it's as good.

Justin Cronin wil surely finish his trilogy this year? I'll have to re read if it takes much longer.
And Ben Aaronovitch should have a new Peter Grant book out in the spring iirc it was due out in November but got postponed.

I'm also waiting for Justin Cronin to finish his trilogy RhuBarbarella, and not really all that patiently.

Although he seems to be closer to doing so than Patrick Rothfuss and his kingkiller trilogy, as I read the first two books at about the same time as the first two Justin Cronin ones.

southeast I know what you mean, but I had a voucher and decided to take a chance. I'm hoping it will be something along the lines of Monster Love by Carol Topolski, but fully prepared for it to be as dire as Renee Knight's Disclaimer. If ever a book didn't live up to it's promise, it's that one. Unless it's The Ice Twins or I Let You Go. Both of which were equally dire. As is anything by Sophie Hannah, who I know is long past debut author status now but everything she writes is awful and bizarre.

I'm off to investigate the Observer list and all the other suggestions on the thread. Smile

Another one waiting for Justin Cronin to get his arse into gear here.

I love Elly Griffith too although I'm not sure if I want Ruth and Nelson to be a proper couple. I love Cathbad and Judy too.

I'm looking forward to the next book in the Fire and Ice (Game of Thrones) series but God knows when that will be published. GRRM has missed his deadline a few times.

Judith is Your Friend should really be called Wendy is Your Friend.

Predictably, the 3rd Mantel Cromwell book and the next Song of Ice and Fire. Also, the next thriller by Mary Torjussen and the 3rd book in Marnie Riches Georgie series.

Yes, I'm waiting on the third Patrick Rothfuss, the next Song of Ice and Fire, the third in Robin Hobb's latest Fitz & Fool trilogy and the third Justin Cronin.

I'm at a point now, having been burnt by George R R Martin, where I won't start any new series by an author until they're all published. And even then I prefer to wait for the paperbacks. Hardbacks are too big to carry around and I do love a nice coffee somewhere while I'm reading.

Maybe I should start reading Katie Price or similar bollocks Grin

I'd quite like to read the third Kingkiller Chronicle. Not holding my breath though. Perhaps Patrick & George are sitting in a pub somewhere...

"We really ought to get back to the writing, mate."
"Yep. Another pint first?"
"Go on then."

Hygge I agree Disclaimer and I Let You Go were disappointing. But I've put a reservation in at the library for The Widow and will start it with an open mind. I've never bothered with Sophie Hannah as I know she churns books out often which makes me a bit wary of her.

Cromwell here, too. I had a no-book-buying rule last year and that was on the exceptions list. Still waiting!

Yes to the Cronin.

Number three in the 'Red Rising' series out soon, I think. I'll buy that once it's cheapish on Kindle.

Dinah Jeffries next book released in February. The Silk Makers Daughter.
Her other books are The Separation and The Tea Planters Wife. Both easy, page turning reading with good plots and well written.
