Book to help appreciate small things in life

Hi all,

Just wondered if anyone can make a recommendation. I'm a nurse, heavily involved in palliative care and so I have a tendency to enjoy/ appreciate some of the more simple or perhaps mundane things in life- it's just what I've learnt through others misfortune. My hubby on the other hand is very stressed with work and struggles to find enjoyment in everyday life events as he can't see beyond the stresses abd strains of work, and he will admit he's quite materialistic too (having just bought a flat he has no large sums of money available to be frivolous with!) Sometimes I can share a patients story with him and see that he's really uplifted and fit a day or so seems to appreciate some of life's beautiful simplicities.
So, I'm after a good read which will prolong this feeling in him :-) I was looking at autobiographies of people with terminal illnesses but there are so many and I'm not sure I could 'sell' it to him to read- don't want to make him feel even more stressed!!. Wondered if anyone had any recommendations?

Thanks in advance!

I would suggest "The book of idle pleasures" by Dan Kieran.
I am sorry, but can't link.
