I just finished this on my Kindle - it's by Kate Hansen and is free just now, and I really, really enjoyed it Grin
I love post apocalypse/End of the World/Dystopian type stuff, and found Remnant to be that bit different from most of the genre.
It's (without giving too much away) about a woman who ends up alone after a catastrophic event, and her search for answers and companions afterwards. It has a couple of twists in the tale, and comes to a "satisfactory" ending iykwim - not one of those books that makes you go NOOOO or get all irate, but a good ending Grin
I think the author also writes under the name Kate Genet, but I've never read anything else by her afaik. I did really enjoy this one though Grin

Yayyy :D It's one of those stories that just sort of "got to me" even though I read hundreds of post apocalypse/EOTW books, and stood out as good, even though it was fairly "gentle" as the genre goes - no "Mad Max" but thoroughly enjoyable story with a spooky twist Grin Hope you enjoy it too!

On the front page of the Kindle Store on Amazon, down at the right hand side, there's a little column with Top 100 Paid and Top 100 Free listings. They update them every hour. It's always worth having a look through, I've found loads of stuff I wouldn't necessarily have read otherwise, but has turned out to be great.
Or you can go by genre from the larger links in the middle of the page, and they will list the Top 100 in that genre too. Just rootle about and follow the "people who like this also like" links too, and wander from page to page.

The other thing to do is to go to discussions' on the front page of the kindle store (it's on the top, near manage your kindle). There is a regular discussion of free books & another one re price drops.
