I know the Frieda Klein series has had mixed reviews and I wasn't at all sure initially and really didn't like the first one much, but the new one, book three, is gripping. Really enjoying it. Anyone else?

Yes, I've just finished it. I always read the Nicci French books as soon as they come out! Enjoyed it very much though I did find there was one very implausible thing, which was the lead that Frieda follows (it's the one to do with hair, I won't spoil it for people).

I haven't bothered recently as the last couple of years the NF books seem to have been churned out at such a rate, and the "twist" that the plot needs, and that the reader expects, just never seems to come (it's always the person you thought it was going to be right from the start, or it's no-one at all and the ending just plummets).

Maybe will try again if you lot are recommending....

Hold fire; it's stretching the bounds if credibility very far as it progresses....

Ok finished it now. No spoilers but I do feel the plots need working on more- Frieda can't solve every crime for the police and be constantly wanted or hated by everyone she meets - the early Nicci French characters were more plausible because their nightmare experiences were one offs, not a whole series worth.

I do love the psychology and the writing still - just feel that something isn't working as it used to.

Didn't stop me devouring the book at record pace, mind you!
