We all loved the last choice, Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry.

The Maggie O'Farrell (Instructions for a Heatwave) would be just the sort of thing but it's not in pb yet. We're all old-fashioned diehards, we don't do kindle and stuff.

I'm just stuck.

Hmm. Same ilk, I would say but not similar really. There is a lot more to the 100 year old man story. I much preferred it to Harold Fry, personally.

I have seen a few people on here say they didn't like 100 year old man. Seems to be one of those that you love or hate - probably perfect for a book club I am not the author

I was going to suggest The Light Between Oceans too. It's beautifully written and easy to read, with loads of juicy things to discuss about moral dilemmas and right and wrong.

Little Eile, I love Junot Diaz's short stories but haven't read his novels. Thanks for the recommendation.

Another suggestion is The Lighthouse by Alison Moore. I quite enjoyed that and she was shortlisted for the Brooker prize and my dd does swimming lessons with her ds

How about The Lifeboat by Charlotte Rogan? I read it last year and thought it was a gripping page turner. It's available in paperback.
