Starting WW and TTC

Hi
I am starting WW tonight but we are also TTC DC3.
I have 3 months free from NHS referral and whilst I know you're not supposed to do WW whilst pregnant, it is my slimming club of choice (don't want to do Slimming World even though I know you can follow that whilst pregnant).
Would it be very bad of me to continue on it if I do get pregnant, if only to maintain before I get to the 3rd trimester? I would ensure my priority if I got pregnant would be to eat 3 balanced and healthy meals over consuming my points.
In both previous pregnancies I was asked to not gain more than 6kg the whole pregnancy. I didn't put anything on in my first pregnancy but 2nd one I gained 3 stone. I lost 5-6 stone between pregnancies.
I just want the support of the meeting to continue should I be lucky enough to conceive and I feel educated enough about healthy eating guidelines, I just lack willpower on my own and staying to meetings tend to motivate me.

Hi there fhdl34

I am in a really similar position! Did WW last year - got the NHS 12 wk referral and then because I lost over 5% in that time, got another free 12 weeks. Altogether I lost 2st 11lbs and should have then bought membership - but thought I could do it myself, mixing in a bit of Low Carbing. Am now up a stone! Oops...

So have just rejoined WW, and am also TTC DC3! I love the theory behind Low Carb, but also need the WW tracking tools, recipe ideas, even the glossy mag with its before/after articles!

I am also a very emotional eater and get a bit funny if I ban certain foods - so think the way WW allows everything in a balanced way works for me.

Wrt pregnancy, I totally agree that I will be eating much more healthily on WW than left to my own devices, so am going to try and use common sense as a guide if I am lucky enough to conceive. If I get extra hungry, allow extra healthy snacks etc.

Have loved being pregnant before and ate quite healthily, both times put on about 2.5 stone and both times lost by a couple of weeks after the birth! Hungry babies...

Would you like a bit of a diet buddy? Let me know if so - I could use the extra motivation!

If not, best of luck, and it sounds a very sensible approach to minimising weight gain. Fingers crossed your third child plans happen soon! Flowers

Hi
Yes that would be lovely, I don't come on mn loads but I'll see if I can set up some sort of alert if you post so you're not waiting days for a reply.
Day 1 was tough yesterday, as was throwing away the leftover sausages and hash browns from kids' tea but I did it. Interesting that you potentially get another 12 weeks free although I always lose slow so not sure I'll do 5% in 12 weeks, would love to though

Hello again,

Blimey, well done on throwing away leftovers! I find that really hard. It is amazing how often I can be tempted by a leftover lukewarm fish-finger... I also managed it this week, put leftover pasta straight into Tupperware for DH to turn into a packed lunch, most unlike me...

I have done F&H this week (my weigh-in is today), and used my 49 extras but not all my exercise points, and lost 5lbs so feeling relieved. Hope you had a good result too?

My plan this week is to make a huge thing of roast veg Sun night so I can jazz it up with capers and herbs, maybe some leftover chicken or something, for easy lunches in the week. Also DH to make big turkey mince chilli so that will do for two dinners.

I may also restart The Dreaded Shred this week! It is only 20mins, how can I not?!

What are your plans for the week?

Hope all is well x

5lb that is fantastic, congratulations and bloody well done!
My weigh in is Tuesday, have used about 3 of weekly points and none of my exercise ones, but I am on a lot of daily points (48 as a lot to lose plus still breastfeeding).
What is the dreaded shred!?
I have been quite active this week, only missed my daily exercise that I promised I'd do yesterday and did double today. My bra is now on 1st hook fastening rather than last so hope this translates on the scales on Tuesday.

Hello there,

Hope your weigh-in today was a happy one! I have already eaten most of my 49 this week, agh! It is too busy a week for me, so I haven't planned all my F&H meals as well as I should have, but I have asked DH to hide all his snacks so should be ok now... It is little things that add up - I love butter so have 1 or 2 PP. of that a day and the odd bit of grated cheese (weighed) - but as they are not F&H, they seem to add up to a lot! never mind the WW choccy biccies, oh dear

Well done you on not using all your weeklies and on the daily exercise - that is great. The Dreaded Shred is the Jillian Michaels' 30 Day Shred which is actually v effective - did a couple of weeks of it a month back and could feel actual muscles! It is about 25 mins a day and hardcore but finished as soon as you start really. I need to get back into it!

Bra-shrinkage sounds positive! I am still BF too but only 1-2 times a day for my 3 yr old (when will he wean, oh when?!) so haven't had the extra points as don't think I am really making much milk any more. But I did lose quite fast last time so maybe that's why.

Are you doing full count PPs or F&H? Think I may switch to all my PPs next week as feels more flexible that way. Think I get 32, will have to check.

Hope you're enjoying the sun xxxx

PS Just reread that you said you'd lost 5-6 stone between pregnancies, wow, and how on earth did you manage that?! That is some achievement...

I just got back, I lost 5lb too :) so pleased :)
I'll look up that dreaded shred, I need to find some form of exercise I can do at home as well that will help tone me up and build muscle.
When I lost that 5-6 stone, I was just eating normally, i maintained my weight all through my pregnancy so technically lost 2-3 there, and then I was BF and walking. I did rejoin ww but stopped going as I was very motivated to eat sensibly anyway so didn't feel I needed it. All went to pot with pregnancy 2 though lol.
Don't tell me that about weaning, my DD self weaned at 20 months as she didn't like my colostrum, I don't know what will put my DS off ;)

Oh WOWEE! 5lbs, yes - go us!

It sounds like you are In The Zone - I have just felt starving the past couple of days so am a bit grumpy...

You are right about walking and general healthy eating as those things are maintainable, and that is what I struggle with. This week is really busy for me so I do not think I will find time to shred, but it is really good, so next week I plan to do it again.

Does this mean that DS2 won't wean until I get preggers? I better hurry up then! Xxxx

Lol I have no idea but my DS is still as keen as ever. When we move house and he has settled in his own room I will look at night weaning him and then we'll see what happens after that. Knowing my luck I'll get pregnant and he'll like the colostrum, he has such different tastes to DD.
He was ill in the night so I missed my walk this morning as I was so tired. Lazy day today

Hi there, hope you've had a good weekend, and your little boy is all better. I have had a vile cold over the weekend, but was cheered up by the scales on Sat am - apparently I have lost another 5lbs! Did step on twice just in case but it said the same both times! But I think maybe I was dehydrated from my cold.

I am also now thinking of switching back to Low-Carbing! But only the lite version, don't think I am mentally strong enough BootCamp. I know I will have to have my blood sugars done if we are lucky enough to conceive, (am not diabetic or pre-diabetic; nor does it run in the family, nor have I had gestational diabetes!) but I worry because I know I can really binge on sugar and carby things, and I def feel healthier eating a lot less of these. But in the general framework of a varied diet and keeping up the exercise. I have just felt so hungry back on WW!

Anyway, hope you've had a weekend full of healthy food and happy kids. Good luck weighing in tomorrow x

Hi
Wow congratulations, sorry you were poorly but bet that loss made you feel better lol.
Weigh night tonight for me, I have eaten within my points, only had a few of my weekly points but not earnt as many activity points this week due to kids being ill and getting ready for house move. I feel like I am going to gain but I came on a couple of days ago so currently feel like I'm carrying a breeze block around in my abdomen. The only thing I am not sure I have counted accurately is the pizza dough I made on Saturday, I had to keep adding in flour so although the toppings are accurately counted, the flour wasn't, but no way I used 46 points worth ( which is how many weekly points I have left).
I worry about gestational diabetes too as we have a strong family history and I have PCOS but I've never even been borderline in either pregnancy.
My DH lost 5lb today, he's now lost 3 stone in total, feel really proud of him.
Would love to lose 2lb tonight to make my first silver seven but am not hopefully. Periods suck!

How did you get on? Was hoping the evil Aunt Flo wouldn't sabotage your good work - I am sure the odd bit of flour divided between a family pizza couldn't do too much damage! Hope it went ok x

I did great - lost 2lb and got my first silver seven!!
I got there feeling good too as hubby said as I left "good luck, although it's not luck really, it's all your hard work". He's a sweetie sometimes.
Daily points have now reduced by 1 and tomorrow I am trying something different, I am counting from the back. It was suggested in class last week. There's a family birthday tomorrow and I got the cake today, have worked out the points already for a slice and put it on tomorrow's tracker. Then I am out for lunch too so will point my dinner in the morning and add it along with my breakfast and then I know whatever is left I can use for lunch.
How are you doing?

Yay, silver seven, well done! Fab work. Lovely that your DH so encouraging too, that makes a real difference I think.

My weigh-in today, and I seem to have lost 4lbs! Got DH to check scales and he said he weighs what he usually weighs (didn't get him to check my weight, obvs - the horror...) - so I am delighted. I think it may be because I have, if I am honest, switched over to Low Carbing, so have gone from the WW early days to the LC-ing early days - and I always lose well at the beginning of a change in eating! From this week I am going for 1-2lbs so will not be quite as strict, I think. Have not been drinking either! (Pre-conception health kick!)

Pointing backwards sound good. I have found a cake recipe suitable for Low-Carbing by Leon (flourless chocolate cake with lemon creme fraiche) so am going to try that for lunch with friends on BHMonday. Mustn't eat too much though! Resisted kids' birthday cake yesterday as it was stuffed with chocolate buttons, and that can never be a good thing, unless you are three and going to madly scoot for an hour round the garden afterwards...

Have a lovely weekend xxxx

Ooh that cake sounds nice. Well done on the 4lb loss as well, you're doing so well.
I've been a bit more junk foody this weekend but all within points, I still have 34 weeklies left and it's the last day of my week today. Plus I have earnt 48 activity points this week so am hoping for another 1-2lb loss his week. Do you have a Fitbit? Mine syncs with my tracker and says I have earnt all those points but I am sceptical.
I got that 30 day shred DVD but haven't tried it yet, just keep looking at it lol. It arrived whilst I was still on and whilst I have it on good authority from the bodyform ads of my youth that I can rollerskate, cycle and do all manner of physical activity whilst I have my period, the inclination is to sit as still as possible and groan. But I have now finished so I will bite the bullet and give it a whirl (with the curtains shut!)

I lost 3lb yesterday and it was what I needed after our buyer pulled out of our house sale yesterday. Just took a walk with the kids, my aim this week is to do my 10k steps every day

Hello! So sorry for the big gap. Half-term of craziness (am a childminder so have had four kids all week). Brilliant news about your 3lb loss but oh doom about the house sale falling through, I am so sorry, that must be stressful.
I would love a fitbit, did use a WW pedometer for a bit and found it really motivating. I have not shredded this week or done anything much other than feel v sick and tired...
Yes, that 'thing' you and I are both planning on has happened! But because my last pregnancy ended in a miscarriage, I am being anxious and superstitious and not really excited yet. And of course diet plans out of the window as forgotten how utterly wretchedly sick I always am the first trimester! So am just trying to make healthy choice, try to not go into a carb frenzy etc. Drinking lots of ginger tea!
Weighed yesterday and am the same but that is fine, I feel the pressure is off scales-wise but I want to keep feeling I am eating healthily and not to excess. Once I stop feeling so sick, I will try to get back to it more formally.
Hope you've had a good weekend, sounds like you are v much in the zone, which is fab. Mindset is half the battle, I think.
Xxxx

Oh what wonderful news, congratulations!! I understand your anxiety but if it is any consolation my friends who have miscarried previously have said they didn't really get the normal symptoms so feeling sick and tired is probably a positive thing in that respect.
I am very unsure about getting pregnant again, we're trying but every time my period comes it is a real mixture of sadness because I'd love another baby and happiness because I'm really motivated with the diet and exercise at the moment so I get at least another month. I do want another baby, but I dread pregnancy, it was bad enough with 1 child to look after but 2!? We're actively trying anyway as we would like a 3rd but it isn't the be all and end all; which is likely a good thing as it took 4 years to conceive our first and it took over our lives, I don't want that again.
But so pleased for you, do you have two already?
