Sometimes putting it down in writing can be a wake up call for those trying to stick to a new diet.

I had a chicken and pesto wrap for lunch.

Turkey, veg, lentil stir fry for dinner.

a chicken royale from burger king (worst burger ever and possibly the culprit for me vomming last night)
a twix pretzel (this was amazing)
Baked chicken with roast spuds and veg
2 cans of coke
3 quality street

Protein shake first thing, porridge for b/fast
Smoked makerel and baked beans for lunch with 3 rice cakes
WW Beefhot pot and salad for dinner
Snack : Apple/Melon/Mango

3 quality street (gonna bring them into work and get rid of them)

2 hours gym in the morning
2 hours pole in the evening

I ate: a spoonful of the child's rejected baked beans, four bits of sushi, an obscene amount of delicious delicatessen salad, a banana and several truffles.

oh, I don't know - dieting, fasting, processed shakes, faddy silly eating plans are all quite unreasonable things to do. Healthy eating and move around is the answer.

I was feeling the 70s vibe!

Today I've had porridge, will be having carrot and chilli soup for lunch and homemade paella for tea if I can find some prawns that aren't precooked

Yesterday was supposed to be the first day of my new healthy eating after piling on the weight due to a massive consumption of biscuits while I've been on mat leave.
However, there is still tempting crap in the house so I've now decided to get rid and start on Monday instead! wink

The decision was made after munching through a stack of Pringles at 1:30pm as I'd had nothing to eat all morning and was starving. I was trapped under a poorly baby and were the only things within reach.
After that I had
Homemade carrot and corriander soup
Toasted bread roll
Two bourbons and 1 choc digestive with a cuppa
Homemade steak and ale pie, boiled potatoes and steamed carrots, broccoli, white cabbage and green beans.
DH and I then shared a box of toffifees with a glass of wine.

I really do think it's often about portion size.

For example dp came in with the Swiss roll and custard last night, now I'd usually have a slice about an inch thick, he came in with half the bloody Swiss roll in my bowl!

Wow. Doesn't this just prove what a fucked up attitude to food most adults (maybe more female adults? not sure) have?!

Almost all of these posts are either really heavy on junk/fat/sugar/processed food or else just picky nibbles of hardly anything at all. We are all either undereating or eating badly.

I'm no exception so no judgement, just a rather worrying observation. I have an eating disorder but I tend to think that, at 30, my choices are unusually unhealthy and that most people have balanced eating figured out by now. I guess that's not true!

Breakfast: Options white hot chocolate
Lunch: Chicken mini fillets, rice cakes and grapes
Snack: Options white hot chocolate
Dinner: Chicken and Vegetable stir fry and melon

Lunch: half a tin of Heinz tomato soup and two slices of bread
Dinner: "homemade" pizza eg pizza bases and topping. Handful of chips.
Snacks: Ritz crackers, candycanes, onion ring crisps, a few pieces of chocolate.

I don't do diets.

It's also about what you eat I think.

We eat quite healthily. DH has been away with the RAF for four months, he has been having cooked breakfasts and lots of puddings. Usually has porridge or toast and we rarely have puddings. He said on the phone the other day his jeans have shrunk!hmm grin.

Can't remember what I had yesterday for breakfast but I had moussaka and salad for tea.

This morning I've had melon and a kiwi fruit, a cup of tea and a coffee.

I don't know if men do eat any better dolls, I was just wondering and thinking that probably most of these posts are women so there was nothing to judge on. It does seem to be women that get focused on in the media for having warped attitudes to food but I do think it's evening out.

Maybe you're right about it still being holiday eating but I'd be surprised if there was still Christmas food in people's houses by 2nd Jan, that's some quite heavy miscalculations in the shopping!

We do manic, we were given lots of chocolates, plus I personally hardly ate any last week so have started on my stash now.

I definitely disagree with the men/women thing. The media prefers to attack women for their weight/diets, plus women buy into it way more.

I have a dp who has no idea about portion sizes imo and is always complaining about his weight, we eat the same but I eat less of it.

Interesting to see what people eat - especially at the tail-end of holidays actually! I had a boiled egg and white toast with butter, lentil soup and cheese roll, beef goulash and rice. And a couple of small chocolate Santas. Oh yes and crackers (maybe six of them!) with cheese. And nearly a whole bottle of wine, accidentally. (The latter is closely linked with the cheese and cracker consumption...)

My house has been stuffed with crisp the last fortnight. I'm still in holiday mode until I go back to work on Monday.

I think a lot of people are the same...this is probably the worst timing for aa snapshot of eating habits ever.

Monet, I don't feel I have to, I want to because they're nice and I'm enjoying them. We have already given some of the ones we're less keen on away, dp took some to work etc.

monet - I don't think most people would actually throw food (especially expensive food that was a present) away?!? Most people I know are aware that I'm terrified of chocolate blush so I don't get much but when I do then it goes into the raffle prize/regift box under the stairs or to the food bank. Don't throw chocolate away, someone will want it!

The food I ate yesterday is not my normal eating regime. ATM I am fed up of cooking, so its been grab what I can.
On Monday when pretty much all the crap has gone and the supermarkets actually have something on their shelves worth buying then the food will change.

Snacks were two handfuls of nuts and some olives

2 glasses of red wine, a gin and tonic and an Irish coffee.

And then, in the evening, I seriously got the munchies and had another slice of bread with crab pate, 2 more little biccies and a packet of crisps! blush

So far today, I've had a piece of ham and mushroom frittata and a mouthful of what turned out to be slightly stale cashews. I'm not dieting, but have realised that I'm PMSy and need to keep my protein up to avoid further munchies.

Dinner: a bowl of homemade chicken soup (basically, miso with vegetables and shredded chicken added)

To drink: 2 litres of water, a cup of coffee and a 'sleepy time' herbal tea.

Ran 5k and did a Pilates class.

Today will be similar (has been thus far) and also the exercise but the run will be replaced by an aerobics class tonight and Pilates was a Barre Pilates class. Dinner is going to be baked salmon fillet, wilted spinach and roasted tomatoes.

I had white rice with mushroom soup, muffin with butter and nutella, a bit of swiss roll last night (that I binned this morning cos it's dry nasty and I don't know why I bought it). Hmm what else.....a bag of Doritos with dip for lunch, oops.

I think lots of people are still in Christmas mode. I am, and NOT through miscalculation, but by choice. I'm on holiday until Monday we have guests on and off until then. My Christmas lasts 2 weeks.

I could never do a diet like 5:2! I hate being hungry, can't concentrate and get really grumpy!!

I am attempting slimming world and so far it's going really well!! Yesterday I had 2 activia 0% yoghurts for breakfast with a black coffee and 2 sweeteners (I know I know!!)
Lunch was quorn stir fry and dinner was a linda mccartney sausage sandwich, had a couple of thorntons chocolates as my syns smile

I find it easy to follow knowing I can have some treats and most things I fancy can be adapted such as curries and chips! I also do a bit of exercise, not setting myself unrealistic goals as I won't stick to it if I get too over ambitious!

I think when we are young we do have a fairly unhealthy attitude to food, a lot of people (me included before I started university) think that as long as we are happy with ourselves and confident in our looks we don't have to stay within a healthy BMI and that isn't true, weight isn't all about how you look, starting training as a nurse made me realise that starting to care about weight now means I am reducing the risk of diabetes, heart disease etc in the future.

I can't wait for my student loan to come in so I can eat healthy things again grin

Yesterday I had 2 slices of wholemeal toast with real butter at lunchtime, jacket potatoes with tuna, cheese & beans for dinner and 5 Roses chocs about 10pm.

Today I've had a couple of cups of tea (without sugar), a few bites of a gingerbread house and 3 biscuits. Haven't stopped all day and blood sugar hit the floor so just grabbed the easiest things to eat, I can't normally stomach anything sweet until the evening. Will be having roasted veg with homemade tomato sauce with pasta for dinner.

I can't eat before 11am ish and eat 2 meals a day plus a snack in the evening usually. Lunchtime is nearly always toast then a large portion of dinner. Need to lose 2.5st blush

Yesterday I had:

All Bran with rice milk
Carrot & orange soup, brown bread
Veg stir fry
A satsuma
Three crackers with cottage cheese
Zero fat/sugar yoghurt
Small glass of wine

I am on my traditional January detox to lose my festive podge. I have given away the last of the Xmas chocs!

Breakfast: stewed gooseberries (no sugar) with full fat Greek yoghurt and roasted hazelnuts.

Pre-run snack: tin of sardines in brine.

Run 5 miles.

Lunch: pint of skimmed milk, vegetable soup, peanut butter with crudités.

Afternoon snack: 4 medjool dates.

Tea: two chickens drumsticks in lentil slow-cooked recipe with lots of broccoli. A couple of illicit spoonfuls of Greek yoghurt straight out of the pot.

About six cups of tea.

Compared to some here I seem to eat shitloads.

Breakfast: couple of spoonfuls of full fat greek yoghurt, celery sticks and cream cheese

Lunch: 2 fried eggs and mushrooms

Dinner: Chili without the beans, lettuce, cheese and sour cream

Managed to drink the 2l of water as well so quite pleased.
