Hey would like to lose at least 2.5 stone but through usual cutting back and exercise but nothing faddy. Could do with someone with with a similar amount to lose so we can weight in weekly but not have to pay for WW or slimming world! I'm 42 and have been feeling crap! Drinking too much vino and also not exercising due to stressful office job but want to make the time to get out at lunchtimes! Have just had a crappy viral thing and high dose antibiotics so truly feeling crap and need to get motivated as am getting up to heaviest I've ever been. Any buds - starting Monday!

fatgirlslimited Sun 08-Sep-13 16:00:48

I'll join you. I've been loosing weight slowly through watching what I eat and getting more exercise for just over a week now. I'm currently 16 st 6lbs and I'm 5 ft 2in. I work shifts so it's sometimes hard to plan activities but I've been doing a lot of swimming and aqua fit and aqua stick. I lost 3lbs this week.

fatgirlslimited Sun 08-Sep-13 16:02:38

I'm looking at loosing as much a I can till I'm at least at a healthy BMI.

tazmo Sun 08-Sep-13 16:47:50

Welcome - was going to do weigh in mon mornings (before any food - heh hrs, got to start off on a positive footing) and keep each other motivated or whoever cares to join. I've been on antibiotics so luckily not feeling like eating much today so hopefully will set me up to losing something. Just planning on trying to cut back and get exercising more. I have 2 dogs and have got out of the habit of walking them due to work being soooooo busy but intend to get them out at least an hour per day. She says sitting on her bum playing on her iPad. I love fruit and veg but have got out of the habit eating total crap. Well done you on losing 3 lbs!!!!!!! Keep it up girl and hopefully ill have some equally good nes this week!

MrFranklyShankly Sun 08-Sep-13 17:39:34

Hi ladies can I join yas???? I had my gorgeous dd3 9weeks ago and have put on a lot of weight! Taz I'm in the same boat as yourself I'm weighing 13 st 10lbs I did start two weeks ago just trying to rein in myself a bit and have lost 10lbs so far but worried I will slip as I find it so hard to be strict being at home so would really like to have others for some support and getting to ww or sw meetings just isn't going to happen with the kids....I am using my fitness pal and am finding it good so looking forward to having some support. Fatsgirl I'm the same would be happy to see a healthy bmi at the mo I'm in the obese section, not good for the self esteem :-(( so is 2 stone by Xmas do able what do yas think????? Well done on the 3lbs fats that really motivating.

fatgirlslimited Sun 08-Sep-13 18:16:11

Yea Mondays sound good to me taz

Good thinking on walking with the dogs too. I've joined my local gym (mostly for the pool and aqua stick tbh) I'm going to go after work when I can or while my DD is at school if I'm not working that day.

I'm in the morbidly obese category sad my doctor told me on friday I will get out of breath and my get palpitations doing to much walking or being on my feet for long periods of time. Then I told him what I do for a living (scrub nurse = on feet for 10 - 12 hours a day) he then quickly back tracked.

I love fruit and veg but I'm a rubbish cook. I don't know any healthy or good recipes so if either of you know any please pass them on.

tazmo Sun 08-Sep-13 20:30:37

Hi welcome frankly shankly. I had dd3 over a year ago and really got into bad ways. Just walked the dogs for an hour - yay. Feeling dodge tho. Had some vino last night but none to make me feel this yuk! I'm hungry yet feel sick when I eat. Hoping its just due to antibiotics and paracetamol (I get bad cramps and just got my monthlies). Just feeling so toxic! Anyway, mon tomorrow so weigh in day to see what my baseline is! Congrats on your daughter shankly but you take care, ESP if bf. and exercising. You take care fatgirls too. take it slow to begin....Both - speak tomorrow! I read an article by a personal trainer and as he said, its only fat! So let's start changing a couple of things in our lifestyles, stay realistic and watch the lbs fall off and keep it off!

tazmo Mon 09-Sep-13 08:08:22

Morning ladies. Baseline for me now is 13 stone 4.5 lbs (without even trying). Would love to go back to bed (work from home full time) - but going to take the dogs for a walk! Hoping will feel energised before starting work!

fatgirlslimited Mon 09-Sep-13 09:09:56

Just weighed myself I'm 16st 5lbs. I'm off to the pool now to do some lengths. How you feeling now taz

Theincidental Mon 09-Sep-13 09:23:33

I'm 13st 8lb and the same height. I lost a stone oner 7 weeks, but have just put it all back on! So disheartened. Need to get motivation back (and a decent exercise video - the shred is too much right now!)

dietstartstmoz Mon 09-Sep-13 09:31:28

Can I join too? As my user name suggests I need to lose some weight. I am 41,5ft 6 and today weigh in at 14st 6lb! I am appalled at how my weight has crept up on me.

tazmo Mon 09-Sep-13 09:32:11

Hi am feeling still a bit crook. Wondering if I have a bug but taken dogs for a walk, about to start work! Well done fat girls - another lb. enjoy the swim. Welcome the incidental. Today is a new day and just make lifestyle changes that are realistic and you can carry through to keep it off. That's my plan (ha ha says the expert who put on 3 stone over the past 10 years). The aim is to feel better, be a dress size smaller - to eat good, healthy food but treat yourself to something you enjoy each week. Well off to work....

tazmo Mon 09-Sep-13 09:34:36

Welcome dietstartsmoz - no need to feel appalled, its only fat! Make a change today you can live with that you know will make a difference. Next weigh in next mon but keep the tips flowing.

MrFranklyShankly Mon 09-Sep-13 11:35:50

Morn ladies, marking my spot!! Went for a good hours walk there when I got the kids off to school got dd3 into the buggy and off we went hope i can keep it up now! so weighed myself first thing still 13st 10lbs so hoping to shift a pound & a half this week. So now the hard part the rest of the day without eating/craving rubbish! Thanks for the congrats taz hope your feeling a bit better. Looking forward to picking up tips and some healthy cooking receipes from you all I'm no Jamie Oliver in the kitchen!!!

tazmo Mon 09-Sep-13 12:32:25

Hi well done frankly. I do like cooking when I have the time but today is going to be a modest beans on toast. Was feeling crook after brekky but starving now. Hoping that's a good sign and I'm on the mend.

MrFranklyShankly Mon 09-Sep-13 13:20:56

Yeah that's a good sign taz, and when your feeling better you feel more up for tackling loosing weight, exercise etc so do go easy on yourself until your fighting fit again. Well just had a lovely salad with a yoghurt I just have to listen to my stomach when it's full and not my brain which is saying 'now for a treat!!!' So going to walk to collect dd2 from school now in a bit as the parking is a nightmare so it's a good excuse to get me moving.....nothing wrong with beans on toast taz it's one of my cupboard staples ;-)

tazmo Mon 09-Sep-13 13:49:26

Oooooos felt rough again after lunch - upset tum! Just have a bug! Wish I could go to bed but got a man from next coming round as they sold me a duff bed. A bed with drawers except the drawers fall out as soon as you sit on the bed! A bed bought for over £1,000! Shoddy!

Theincidental Mon 09-Sep-13 18:47:42

Not a bad effort today!

Toast with marmite,
Toasted quorn Sarnie and Pom bears (tee hee) for lunch, then chilli and rice for dinner. One small piece of cake too, but was homemade and gave the rest of the cake away!

May try some Pilates later. Does anyone know any good exercise DVDs for evening workouts? Nothing too intensive as I'm too knackered after a day of toddler management. Was thinking yoga or Pilates maybe...

tazmo Mon 09-Sep-13 19:37:49

Excellent! I've been a bit naughty (2 choccy bicies and crisps) - at least only one bag.hate feeling hungry but rubbish at same time. Dh saying he's not feeling good. We did pull something out the freezervwhich had been in there for a while. Must admit - not into exercise videos but hope to eventually invest in the yoga wii thing. Oops just heard my son say he's got a sore tummy. Whoops.

TheLightPassenger Mon 09-Sep-13 21:27:39

Hi ladies, I'm just under 12.5 stone, I kind of get a weird block and can't get under 12 stone. I need to lose 2.5 stone to be in healthy BMI range. I can't be bothered with SW/WW/low carb so calorie count and exercise when I can be bothered too. Which isn't often enough.

Re:exercise DVDs - Ministry of Sound Pump it Up DVDs are quite fun, and at least mostly decent music. 10 minute Solutions are good as you only need to psych yourself up to do 10 minutes, any more is a bonus iyswim. I find pilates surprisingly hard - as although you are on the floor, you have to concentrate on your breathing, and your abs get a bloody good work out grin. Rosemary Conley DVDs are v easy realistic, so not a bad starting point, as remember the aim is to get a bit puffy and burn some calories rather than be superfit with six pack at this stage!

Theincidental Mon 09-Sep-13 21:33:18

Thank you! I like the idea of either short bursts or more laid back exercise as i find it really hard to fit around my son. He's not patient at all when I want to do exercise!

tazmo Mon 09-Sep-13 21:34:18

Welcome the light passenger - sure you'll get under 12 st soon! Still waiting for my tea after putting kids toned. Feeling cold tonight. Fire firmly on!

dietstartstmoz Tue 10-Sep-13 06:43:21

Morning all. I am aiming to have a good day today. Have a salad, fruit and ww yoghurt to get me through the day at work. I am aiming to do some exercise tonight but didn't manage that yesterday. My one problem is eating when I get home from work, need to find ways to stop this. I must try and have a good week as I am going out for a meal on Saturday night. Just before Monday weight in.

fatgirlslimited Tue 10-Sep-13 10:03:48

Morning all. I managed an hour of lengths yesterday. Then went to work at 12 noon, I was supposed to be done at 9pm but didn't actually get out of work till 4.30 am this morning. So at about midnight when we had a break I did have a chocolate bar and a bag of crisps as I had already eaten my dinner (tuna salad) at 5pm and had nothing more with me.
No exercise for me today as I'm back in work at noon sad I am taking my dinner and a granola bar and a apple just incase I end up staying late again.

fatgirlslimited Tue 10-Sep-13 10:04:30

Good starts though everyone!

Room for another one?

I have been doing WW for the last 10 weeks. Lost 20lbs, but had a terrible weekend, so not holding out much hope for a loss this week.

I need to try and get some excercise in and try to eat more fruit.

Currently 12st11.5lbs and 5ft7. Aim is to get to 11st. Hopefully by Christmas, though am wondering if that's too optimistic.....

tazmo Tue 10-Sep-13 10:48:21

Hi everyone, welcome having a moment. Shamefully I had a lie in! I WFH full time but was coughing all night! Not had anything to eat yet lol. Only a cup of tea so looks like it will be cereal for lunch. So need to do some shopping! Craving orange juice! Back later...

MrFranklyShankly Tue 10-Sep-13 11:49:00

Morn ladies, well had a good day yesterday managed to stick to my quota of calories on MFP and didn't have anything after 6pm but had a tough nite with dd was up a good few times with her so today could be hard always crave sugar when I'm zombied!! The incidental if you have sky tv you should check out the fitness channel they show a good variety of different exercises I usually record a few and then try them out, save buying a DVD that will (in my case!!!) just sit gathering dust! So salad again for lunch, and chicken, veg & small portion of pasta for dinner.....going for a walk now with dd to waken me up a bit (and keep me away from the biscuit tin!!!) how'd ya get on with your bed Taz did ya get it sorted how ya feeling today???? Well done dietstarts the evening is my down fall as well, distraction is the only way! Passenger have you tried my fitness pal, I've lost weight before with it, after my dd2 was born, I couldn't get past 11 stone so it recommended reducing my calsories by 100 a day and I then got down to 9 stone :-)) I'm hoping I can do it again :-))

MrFranklyShankly Tue 10-Sep-13 11:51:26

Hi having a moment wow well done on your weight loss that's excellent you've a great chance of being down to 11 by Xmas no probs to ya....ohh lord taz you don't sound too good trip to the drs might be needed???

tazmo Tue 10-Sep-13 16:54:19

Wow well done everyone. I am committed to dieting but still a bit under the weather so am craving sweet stuff. Though I am not really hungry for usual stuff ... I am still here though and full service will resume once this damn cough/temp has gone! Need berocca.....

dietstartstmoz Tue 10-Sep-13 20:35:30

Should I be watching the great British bake off? Now want an egg custard. Ignore, ignore...

KnitFastDieWarm Tue 10-Sep-13 22:27:35

Can I join? 5'4, 88kg which I think is 13st 12?
Need to lose podge caused largely by medication I've been on the past few years (but let's be honest, cake and wine don't help either :-p)
Sticking to 1510 cals a day as suggested by MFP, hoping to lose around 1lb a week - I'm in for the long haul!
Today's menu:
Lunch - chicken salad
Dinner - amazing and surprisingly low cal chickpea and spinach stew with lamb meatballs and brown rice (thanks, DH!smile
Snacks: 2ltrs water, granola bar, three black coffees, tiny petit four cake

Feeling motivated by this thread as we all seem I be a fairly similar level - I.e. about two stone shy of 'normal' ;-p

Theincidental Wed 11-Sep-13 08:09:13

Not a bad day yesterday... Toast, Sarnie, low fat crisps and fruit, then chilli with a little pasta for dinner. Had two choc digestives and a couple of handfuls of peanuts too. Wish they were pieces of fruit!

How do you avoid the biscuit tin at work?

Theincidental Wed 11-Sep-13 08:10:08

Oh and hello knit fast!

tazmo Wed 11-Sep-13 09:00:45

Hallo knitfast welcome... No such thing as a bad day incidental. Take it off today's allowance or do a little bit more exercise...no failure here. I'm still muddling along. Temp again last night. Will go to docs tomorrow if still have one! What for brekky? Cuppa first...

burberryqueen Wed 11-Sep-13 09:04:06

it is amazing what works - cut out booze, sweets, cakes etc., and eat when you are hungry - weird I know!!

MrFranklyShankly Wed 11-Sep-13 11:04:15

Morn folks, just back from another hour walk with dd, the fitness is def starting to return was able to go a little bit further this morn. Managed to stay away from the biscuit tin yesterday and again nothing after 6 so hopefully can keep it up, salad for lunch and a healthy veggie dinner for this eve, trying to have a meat free day once a week. Hi knit fast yeah it's great we're all around the same, totally agree blueberry it is amazing what works, good old fashioned less in and a bit of exercise, nothing too mad and try to make it a way of life instead of mad fad diets.

Dietstarts I have had to stop watching the great British bake this time, I love it too, will miss the silver fox!!! But I can't watch it without cake or tea and biscuits!!! So I go walking now when it's on!!!!

BurnThisDiscoDown Wed 11-Sep-13 11:29:31

Can I join too? I'm 5'1 and 11 stone 6, still carrying baby weight (baby is 2 now!blush). I lost a stone last year but put it all back on again. I want to lose 2 stone or thereabouts, doing mfp.

tazmo Wed 11-Sep-13 18:39:45

Sure all welcome. I had kids today so limited exercise... Work tomorrow so hope to get dogs out. Still not got a shop with healthy stuff in yet tho did get my orange juice fix. Must need my vitamin C but gonna go to docs tomorrow, still not shifting the temperature. Bit worried : o (

tazmo Sat 14-Sep-13 11:36:01

Weigh in Monday girls.... Hope all are doing ok.

MrFranklyShankly Sun 15-Sep-13 21:13:16

Ohhh lord, dreading tomorrow have not had a good weekend will be amazed if I don't have weight on after this weekend!!!!

MrFranklyShankly Mon 16-Sep-13 08:10:38

Whey hey just weighed myself and 13st 8lbs!!! Can't believe it! After the weekend I've had! Right going for my hour walk now in a bit, that's inspired me to keep on track for the week now (hopefully!)

saintmerryweather Mon 16-Sep-13 08:43:11

joining in! ive weighed myself this morning and am 12st 6lbs near enough, and at 5"3 and a big size 14 im pretty much obese. i look terrible and feel.terrible and would like to lose at least 2 stone. my problem is i am really fussy with food and eat far too big portions so i need to address that. will try and start the shred again but not holding out much hope of that working, i get bored of jillian after quite a few aborted attempts!

i have taken a motivational picture of myself in my underwear and am keeping it close at hand in case i decide i want some chocolate or something

dietstartstmoz Mon 16-Sep-13 09:14:40

Morning all, I have weighed myself this morning and I have lost 2.5lbs, so I am pleased with this. How have we all done?

tazmo Mon 16-Sep-13 09:39:22

Well done all - I haven't weighed myself yet but I haven't really been focussing on the diet so I doubt I've lost anything (will weigh myself when I go for a shower). Not an excuse but was still feeling rubbish so after a trip to Drs, on another antibiotic now and now that's kicked in, finally starting to feel better and my temp is down - so no more excuses for me! Starting again today! Frankly - 2lbs! Great - healthy weight loss. Dietstartsmoz - fabioso! Welcome saint merry weather....

tazmo Mon 16-Sep-13 10:34:56

Well put ON a pound but not surprising - 13 stone 5.5 lbs. do plan to take the dogs a walk today though!

saintmerryweather Mon 16-Sep-13 10:51:42

well done.diet!

TheLightPassenger Mon 16-Sep-13 16:52:19

hey saint, apart from being fussy with food, we seem to be virtually the same bodywise. Unfortunately I looooooooooove food, have never met a cuisine I don't like, from chippy to sushi to pastie to thai etc. I am finally getting back into exercising this week, no more excuses to myself!

kiwidreamer Mon 16-Sep-13 18:36:52

Hello everyone, room for another? I haven't 100% decided what plan I'm going to follow just yet but might try a week of 'being good' and see how I get on. Weight this morning is all time high of 13 st 5lbs which is only 3/4 lbs less than full term with 9lb 13oz baby.

Today I've eaten a banana, cup of homemade pumpkin soup & 3 corn thins, half a piece of toast/nutella and a few mouthfulls of kids pasta blast it, huge issue with me eating kids leftovers, chicken & veg stir fry for dinner, ok start not brilliant but ok, 30min cross trainer this morning.

I should track it properly but it's so boring!!

tazmo Mon 16-Sep-13 18:56:17

Welcome kiwi dreamer - we are level pegging. I also only went to 13 st 9 lbs during pregnancy with dd3 and then los weight to 12 st 4 oz! Lack of vino. That is my downfall. Hoping to get back on straight and narrow this week grin

MrFranklyShankly Mon 23-Sep-13 11:52:53

3 lbs off this week :-) now 13st 5 how did everyone else get on??

MurielHeslopp Mon 23-Sep-13 14:23:00

Hi, do you mind if I join in? smile
I weighed in at 11st 7 this morning. I'm 5ft 2 so with a BMI of 29 I'm a breath away from being officially 'obese'.

I'm hoping to get down to pre-baby (babies now aged 9, 7 and 4!) weight of 9st.
Not even completely sure how I plan to lose it. Just cutting down for the time being.
It will be nice to 'check in' every week. smile

MrFranklyShankly Mon 23-Sep-13 18:07:54

Hi Muriel

Welcome, this thread seems to be abandoned today! Well my bmi this morn was 29.9!! It was 31 a few weeks ago and I was in the obese category somewhere I didn't think I'd ever find myself in but I have made a start ill be very happy when I get down to your weight now but like that would like to get back to per baby weight of 9 / 10 stone. So are you doing any kind of diet or just cutting out some things and see how it goes??? Any Tips would be appreciated!

F x

MrsSlocombe Mon 23-Sep-13 18:27:03

Hello again (have namechanged from TLP). Lost 3lb last week, but put 2lb on over weekend (PMT) and have ate vast amounts of bread and butter (PMT again) this afternoon. Ho Hum. So 12st 6 atm. My interim goal is to start the new year at 12 stone. I'm sort of calorie counting and exercising. Only managing 30 mins every other day, as v tired and achey atm. Have no idea whether I am over or under doing the exercise hmm

tazmo Mon 23-Sep-13 19:16:51

Well done all - ds1 got hand, foot and mouth and so he's had my iPad all day. I haven't lost much - quarter pound. Must do better..... Well done frankly. Welcome Muriel and mrs slocombe. Weigh in is on a Monday. I've been having bugs galore, but am feeling better so plan to REALLY start tomorrow. grin

warmleatherette Mon 23-Sep-13 19:46:13

Hello, can I join? 5' 5" and 12 stone 5. 42 years old and the weight seems to be piling on. My sister and I had a pact we'd never get past 12 stone but now look at me. sad

tazmo Mon 23-Sep-13 20:54:12

12 st ain't so bad. Least you are doing something about it before you get another stone heavier like me! Baby steps but changes for life!

MurielHeslopp Mon 23-Sep-13 21:35:31

Hi everyone! grin

Frankly at the moment I'm eating 3 meals a day- no snacks. Snacking is by far my biggest downfall. Chocolate, cakes, crisps...
I might even dig out my Davina dvd tomorrow. Maybe... grin

MrFranklyShankly Tue 24-Sep-13 11:42:24

I'm doing the same Muriel trying to stick to 3 meals a day which sounds easy but is bloody hard!!!!!!! I'm a a snacker too so am trying to rein it in, cutting out one snack at a time! Anyone any nice healthy receipes for dinner I'm starting to get fed up a bit with own usual ones!

TheAwfulDaughter Thu 31-Oct-13 21:04:52

Can I jump in here?

I am low carbing as I had very good results on it, and also need to do something to kill my absolutely insane sugar addiction.

I was thinking yesterday about those who would choose a Freddo or a thin dairy milk when they popped in the shops with a chocolate craving, or ask for the Pizza Express waiter to put the remaining third of their pizza in a box to take home. I need to be one of those people. I go for the huge £1 of Galaxy and eat til I am absolutely bursting, then would order pudding.

I have my first shift tomorrow eating 'well' so I am bringing a tomato and mozzarella salad, 2 litres of sparkling water to drink and a pepperami or a little tub of cold cuts. And leaving my purse at home so I definitely can't buy anything! ;)

Just finished day 2 without any sugar at all. Feeling good about it.

TheAwfulDaughter Thu 31-Oct-13 21:05:43

And I'm a similar weight/height to you Muriel, 5'2- but sadly 12.2 eeeeek!
