That would be me sad.

I have weighed in this morning at 12 2, my heaviest EVER. I have hovered around 11 10 for over a year, not doing anything about it. This morning I could actually cry, I would if the dcs were not here.

In the grand scheme of things I know this isn't the end of the world but dear god I'm feeling every pounds of it today. I am hoping that by starting this I can make myself accountable and achieve better health, knees and back are bad. I am away shortly and need to make good choices, don't want fad diet, just sensible eating and exercise. I'm just rambling now but needed to get this down.

Wishfulmakeupping Mon 19-Aug-13 10:08:38

sad Im feeling pissed off too been steadily losibg weigh since having dd in jan but seen that I've put on 3 pounds in a week! Plus its my bday soon so meals and cake isn't going to help needed to lose 16 pounds by oct now am up 3 sad
My plan is excercise I can't diet it just makes me eat more Iyswim so I will be sensible but walk like a crazed woman and hope some weight starts coming off again

Wishfulmakeupping Mon 19-Aug-13 10:09:11

Ps I love the thread title I do have a soft spot for fat Monica smile

mrsfiddymont Mon 19-Aug-13 10:13:05

Wishful, thanks for the reply. I had to buy next size up clothes at the end of last week, still didn't stop me putting on 4lbs sadblush. I need to sort myself out sad.

Wishfulmakeupping Mon 19-Aug-13 10:18:00

Do you excercise at all? I only walk that's it am building up to doing a class if some sort but am not fit enough yet.
I know I ate far too much last week lots of bread and cheese and had 2 cream cakes - bloody oh bringing them in the house! They are now banned- if its bit here I can't eat it!
Do you eat too much or the wrong type of thing?

mrsfiddymont Mon 19-Aug-13 10:23:05

I walk but not as much as I should, dodgy joints. My downfall is junk food, crisps and wine...so if I cut these out it should be simple....yeah right! I need to find the supermarket shelf with willpower on it grin. I'm on my own, apart from dcs, so anything that comes into the house is bought by me...I am the creater of my own downfall, so I have to be the creater of my own success.

And to follow on the Friends theme, I have just seen a picture of Matthew Perry, he could be my twin sad.

(Realise I need to stop dwelling and get doing, but this feels quite therapeutic atm).

Wishfulmakeupping Mon 19-Aug-13 10:35:55

It's hard isn't it, I find that if I make something 'healthier' in the day for tea Im more likely to eat it as its easier Iyswim otherwise I will pick whatever's easiest I'm going to start doing that today actually make veggie chilli for tea. Do you eat the same as dc or do you need to quickly make something for yourself after

mrsfiddymont Mon 19-Aug-13 10:45:52

Veg chilli sounds good. Planning is definitely key for me as I tend to nip to shops and pick up a ready meal if nothing is in, so then I pick up snacks and wine and so it goes on.

mrsfiddymont Mon 19-Aug-13 10:47:58

stupid I know as this is all my fault but I'm feeling quite tearful sadblush.

englishteacher78 Mon 19-Aug-13 10:52:43

I've also just put on loads still 3 stone off my heaviest but not great. Time to take it hand. Exercising in the morning often works well for me.

mrsfiddymont Mon 19-Aug-13 10:59:17

englishteacher "time to take in action", what's your plan?

englishteacher78 Mon 19-Aug-13 11:02:11

I'll be eating Slimming World Green - but only because DH is doing that. I will be following a Women's Running magazine 10km running programme (got a race I completely forgot about in 3 weeks!). Then it's more running and classes until the weight comes off.

mrsfiddymont Mon 19-Aug-13 11:26:58

Off to have a look at Slimming World recipes.

Wishfulmakeupping Mon 19-Aug-13 13:49:48

I've never tried slimming world but its worked for a lot of women I know one woman who I would have said wasn't far but just a stocky build lost 3 stone totally changed her figure she's actually really petite. My plans always been to start SW 'next week' maybe I need to actually do it now!
Try not to get down about it OP you are making positive steps we will all get there- just think we could all be looking slim and lovely at Xmas! smile

mrsfiddymont Mon 19-Aug-13 16:16:06

wishful I'm one of those that always start tomorrow so maybe this time I will [hopeful].

Wishfulmakeupping Mon 19-Aug-13 19:08:07

You can do it. I've been feeling crappy today and ate half pack of biscuits oops but forced myself to go out for a long walk so don't feel too guilty now need to but overrated tonight

Wishfulmakeupping Mon 19-Aug-13 19:08:18

Overeat!

mrsfiddymont Mon 19-Aug-13 19:28:22

wishful it really isn't easy is it, sigh!

Wishfulmakeupping Tue 20-Aug-13 21:49:06

Hi OP was today any better? I was a bit better food wise except for a lovely piece of cake at friends but took dd on a walk so that should even it out a bit

mrsfiddymont Wed 21-Aug-13 03:33:20

Hi wishful, mmm cake, hope you enjoyed it. I've been doing lots of running around which I think has kept things at bay a little (won't mention the choc ice, wine scenario during Bake Off blush).

Feeling a bit more positive and less panicky but still can't believe that I can get rid of about 2 stone. Oh, and as you can see from the timing on here, I'm awake at stupid o'clock!!

mrsfiddymont Sat 24-Aug-13 08:31:56

On holiday for a week so trying not to find a wagon to fall off!!

Wishfulmakeupping Sat 24-Aug-13 09:01:29

Enjoy your holiday have fun smile

englishteacher78 Sat 24-Aug-13 09:04:50

Holidays are hard. I feel quite bloated this morning and scales say I've put some weight back on. However, it's probably related to the bloating rather than 'real' weight so I'm ignoring it. The weekly result will be down so that's what counts.

Wishfulmakeupping Sat 24-Aug-13 09:21:12

Weekly result is the one that matters I'm terrible for weighing myself several times a day really need to break that habit

deliasmithy Mon 26-Aug-13 12:52:58

Hi,

I wanted to post as I know how you feel. It's crap isn't it.

I think you are right when you say you want to avoid fad diets, changing how you eat for the long term is how it's gotta be.

Enjoy the holiday. Don't feel bad and have fun.

When you get home, bin that junk food and don't buy any more! The weekly shop is a great time to start.

englishteacher78 Mon 26-Aug-13 12:54:49

Weekly result: 8 1/2lbs off. Won't be anywhere near that next Monday and I need to prepare myself for that. If it's a pound off next week that's still a win!

Wishfulmakeupping Mon 26-Aug-13 13:00:27

It's was my bday so I've been eating utter crap all weekend but I was sorting out my work clothes- going back to work soon after 9 months mat leave and my pre pregnacy work clothes are all too big. I was a size 16-18 before I got pregnant And now a 14-16 still got a way to go would like to lose another 15-20 pounds but it felt good to see all my old trousers hanging off. Lets keep going ladies smile

mrsfiddymont Tue 27-Aug-13 21:27:28

Just checking in from my holiday....

delia I am eating and drinking everything and feeling no guilt and lots of pleasure grin.

wishful happy birthday thankswinecake

englishteacher OMG!! fantastic

mrsfiddymont Tue 03-Sep-13 09:18:30

englishteacher how did you manage such a big loss?

wishful how was the return to work?

Feeling quite low today, checked into my old MFP account from two years ago and my starting weight was 10 4....boy oh boy have I let myself go sad.

Wishfulmakeupping Tue 03-Sep-13 09:26:01

Hi mrs try not to look back I know its hard but you need to focus on now. How are things going?
I'm not going back to work until dec I was being very organised and clearing out my wardrobes of old clothes when I do go back I'll need all new. I've not done well this week and last been eating micro meals so stopping that from today don't even like them they're rank!

mrsfiddymont Tue 03-Sep-13 09:37:37

Wow, you are organised grin.

Pre-packed meals are awful, pretty tasteless in the main.

I had a good day yesterday food wise but really shouldn't have looked a mfp grinsad...onwards and hopefully the scale will go downwards.

mrsfiddymont Sat 07-Sep-13 08:43:48

weighed in at 11 12 today, not had a great couple of days. Had to go out in shapewear the other day just to get my jeans on sad, dear me it was uncomfortable.

Back to work next week so will spend some time this weekend planning food for next week. Hopefully work won't be stressful that I resort to wine and crisps [mydownfall].

How's everyone doing?

englishteacher78 Sat 07-Sep-13 12:08:56

Big first week loss due to doing absolutely no exercise for two weeks (on holiday) and then doing my usual 6/7 days hard work and a 5 mile race on the Sunday. If it helps I put a pound back on the next week. This week's going much better hoping for at least 2lbs by Monday.

Wishfulmakeupping Sat 07-Sep-13 12:19:08

Not weighed myself since thurs (trying to not do it everyday) and I was 1 down which is ok considering I've not been walking everyday and I've eaten pasta galore. This week I'm going to walk everyday even if I don't improve the food situation.
Is anyone else doing much exercise feel like I should be doing some

englishteacher78 Sat 07-Sep-13 12:28:40

At the moment I do a Kettlebell class on Monday, Tuesday is TRX/Kettlebell and threshold run, Wednesday is boxercise, Thursday is hills session followed by TRX, Friday is my PT session, Sunday is long run.

Wishfulmakeupping Sat 07-Sep-13 12:34:59

Wow how lazy do I feel now lol. Is it helping speed up your weight loss a lot english?
How much have both you lady got to lose to get to your target if you don't mind me asking.
My goalposts have changed I wanted to lose another 13lbs when would take me down to my lowest adult weight still around a size 14 I think I'd like to lose more like 7-10lbs on top of that which should leave me a 12-14 which I think will suit me as I'm tall and hourglass figure so I'm never going to get smaller than a 12 anyway iyswim

englishteacher78 Sat 07-Sep-13 15:06:05

I want to get back to a size 10-12. To do so I'm looking at trying to lose just under two stone - even though I'm only a 12-14 - I seem to be quite dense. Always used to annoy me to read about people losing 7lbs and one or two dress sizes!

mrsfiddymont Mon 09-Sep-13 17:03:48

Crikey, you two are good with the exercising...me, not so blush.

Weigh in this morning was 11 10 but have to admit that I'm not sure how accurate the old scales are. I have been 11 10 and back so many times that I really need to get the numbers going down. Managed to avoid the wine and snacks isle at the supermarket today which was a massive achievement I kid you not!

englishteacher78 Mon 09-Sep-13 17:45:12

Weighed in this morning 12 1/2lbs off in 3 weeks. Would probably have been more but had lovely roast dinner and pudding for lunch yesterday and then a bit of DH's Indian yesterday night. grin

mrsfiddymont Mon 09-Sep-13 18:49:07

englishteacher I am envy. grin.

Wishfulmakeupping Mon 09-Sep-13 19:11:46

Can't weigh myself as batteries in scales run out (really not an excuse) am interested as I feel like I've lost but been eating biscuits like mad and went out for meal yesterday.

mrsfiddymont Sat 14-Sep-13 08:13:11

11 9 today grin

Wishfulmakeupping Sat 14-Sep-13 17:27:31

Going to weigh myself shortly think this will be bad - I've still been walking everywhere but I've aye an obscene amount if biscuits this week blush

mrsfiddymont Sat 14-Sep-13 17:47:21

wishful got my fingers crossed for you smile

Wishfulmakeupping Sat 14-Sep-13 18:35:21

Bugger I'm 3 more than just before my bday but I've not bf much today hopefully its the milk making me weigh more <wishful thinking>

Wishfulmakeupping Sat 14-Sep-13 18:37:49

Damn you shortbread biscuits I blame you entirely for my demise

mrsfiddymont Sun 15-Sep-13 10:27:50

grin same to the crisps I ate last night blush.

I have not been under 11 9 in at least a year, this is always the point where I start losing and gaining the same old few pounds, obviously the crisps won't be helping confused. Am thinking that a couple of days of soup may just be in order.

tibni Sun 15-Sep-13 21:43:16

Can I join you please? - I need to face up to needing to lose some weight. Went to gym today and I am 11 10, the heaviest I have ever been. 10 - 10.7 is much better for me.

Life has been very hectic and work and family balance got lost somewhere among the way. I went from working out 4 times a week to a weekly social hang out at gym with very little effort blush. And my food intake has been plain greedy! So tomorrow is a new day and excuses must stop!

mrsfiddymont Mon 16-Sep-13 15:24:53

Welcome tibni, we are about the same weight but you are a gym bunny and I am not grin.

englishteacher78 Mon 16-Sep-13 16:42:43

I'm a stone heavier than you two at the minute! And just bought a lovely dress for Christmas - better head to the gym then!

mrsfiddymont Mon 16-Sep-13 17:46:33

ah but look how well you are doing english, the dress will look fab smile.

englishteacher78 Mon 16-Sep-13 17:56:33

I suppose. And I've always carried weight relatively well. And I beat the gym bully in a 10km race the other day by 12 minutes! :-)

tibni Mon 16-Sep-13 20:09:01

Thanks for the welcome. I am a failed gym bunny, going to take work to get my fitness back. long work day and I resisted biscuits. Just after I posted last night dh came to me with a magnum and I refused shock. Trying to get a balance so I don't crash and burn!

englishteacher78 Mon 16-Sep-13 20:35:08

Resisting can be hard. I'm currently resisting the twirl I know is in the cupboard. Or the Crunchie. Or the Kinder bars.

mrsfiddymont Tue 17-Sep-13 08:40:10

I failed spectacularly last night, food, wine and sweets, sweets for goodness sake.....this is why I am this size. Today's another day......

Wishfulmakeupping Tue 17-Sep-13 09:18:24

Welcome tibni
I'm the heaviest out of all of us so you lot can stop moaning ;)
Terrible weekend my little dd very poorly with flu ended up in hosp sat night- she's a little better now but still off and I've got it too. So whist I'm not eating much I'm drinking endless sugary tea and living on toast and biscuits. Start again next week when hopefully dd is better.
Keep going you guys wish I could resist temptation too need tips

mrsfiddymont Tue 17-Sep-13 16:54:33

wishful grin at us lot moaning.

I would say that in the circumstances brew and cake are more than needed. Hope dd improves and you don't get too bad.

mrsfiddymont Fri 20-Sep-13 07:58:40

Well I hope this will cure me of my scale obsession......woke up at 2am, had a wee, couldn't get back to sleep so went and weighed myself (I know, I know). At 2am I was 11 9 (same as last week so no loss). Got up at 6, went to the loo, weighed myself....11 11 confused. So there we are, in four hours of sleep, I gained 2lbs, who knew!!!.

As I said, I was/am obsessed with those damn little digital numbers....have decided to put them in the boot of the car and hope I forget about them (unlikely but will stop me weighing at stupid times of the night).

Sorry for Friday morning ramble, hope all is well with everyone.

Wishfulmakeupping Fri 20-Sep-13 10:35:50

It's too tempting to keep jumping on the scales though isn't if?!
I'm going to try not to weigh myself until next Friday shall we all do a weigh in together?
Even with all the tea and biscuits Im down 2 am 13.8 which is huge compared to the rest of you!
Really going to try next week and walk everyday- and harder still no biscuits!!
Want to lose 1.5 pounds by fri

Wishfulmakeupping Fri 20-Sep-13 21:33:45

Oh dear had far far too much to eat tonight try again timo

Wishfulmakeupping Fri 20-Sep-13 21:34:00

Tomorrow that should have been!

englishteacher78 Sat 21-Sep-13 05:59:07

I had a naughty one too - Indian takeaway - I didn't have a huge portion though so that's progress.

englishteacher78 Sat 21-Sep-13 06:41:24

Not entirely sure the scales were right this morning but I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt. It makes it just over a stone now in the month since I got back into being healthy. Getting back into running seems to have been the key grin

SparkyTGD Sat 21-Sep-13 08:16:29

Hi, can I join you?

I've been looking at the weight loss threads, saw the the half stone by Halloween but I have more like 2 stone to lose sad (obviously not by Halloween tho, that would be a bit OTT grin).

I stepped on the scales about a year ago and saw that my weight had crept to 12 stone shock I was always about 10 stone pre DS.

I've started to cut down this week, my DP has done a very successful weight loss for health reasons & I hadn't really followed suit, so am using some of his tips.

He usually has normal breakfast like porridge, then very light lunch so eg soup & slice of brown bread then normal evening meal that we have always eaten, only snacking on fruit.

I've done this for about a week and feel slimmer already, less bloated grin

ps I'm 5ft 6 and about 11 stone 10.

SparkyTGD Sat 21-Sep-13 08:18:04

pps hope you DD gets well soon Wishful

mrsfiddymont Sat 21-Sep-13 09:52:26

wishful I'm aiming for 2lbs a week (obviously didn't happen this week tho). I didn't weigh myself today grin. A Friday weigh in is good for me.

englishteacher A stone! A stone! A whole bloomin' 14lbs!!!! FANTASTIC...I am soooooo envy.

Welcome to Sparkly. I am the same weight as you but shorter grin.

My triumph, in a way, this week was that I forgot to buy myself a self-loathing crap ready meal yesterday, so I had chicken salad!

Wishfulmakeupping Sat 21-Sep-13 13:12:31

Welcome and thanks sparky my dd is all better and back to her usual noisy self now thankfully smile
I'm going to really have to cut out the biscuits and in basically living off porridge and buttery toast in the day so the toast needs to be replaced by something better

Wishfulmakeupping Sat 21-Sep-13 13:13:16

Meant to add- You all sound like your doing well so going to follow your lead ladies ;)

tibni Sat 21-Sep-13 15:36:29

Mrs I don't have scales any more, my friend borrowed them to weigh her luggage and they didn't survive. However when I went to the gym Friday I was down 6llb grin. Very aware it is week 1 and I will not get another big loss like that but getting below the 11stone mark seems a possibility. I got on the scales pre and post work out and was half pound up at the end despite sweating buckets, obviously because of all the water I had drank. Weight and scales do fluctuate. I will be happy if I stop stretching my clothes! I refuse to buy the size up.

Welcome sparky - have to say this thread appealed because everyone wasn't starting at my target weight with the intent of losing 2 stone! Realistically I am never going to be 8.5st and to be honest at 5 8 would look ill if I was.

Wishful buttery toast is my weakness and default comfort / ease food. I find I will make nice meals for others but not bother if it is just me - and that has to stop.

englishteacher - a stone, wow, that really gives me hope.

mrsfiddymont Sat 21-Sep-13 15:55:37

wishful step away from the toast and butter grin.

tibni 6lbs, brilliant start, you must be grin.

englishteacher78 Sat 21-Sep-13 17:25:31

I'm still not entirely sure the scales were right tbh. I did try three times so it must have been....

SparkyTGD Sat 21-Sep-13 19:21:38

tibni grin to everyone starting at your target weight. I would also look skeletal at below 9 stone.

That reminds me of a Sarah Millican sketch where she mentions watching a celeb exercise video and she says that her goal weight would be the persons 'before' weight, eg 10 stone ish grin

Bananas Wishing, I know they aren't the 'lightest' fruit you could have but they're good for hunger pangs (and better for you than buttery toast).

teaandkittens Sun 22-Sep-13 18:35:22

missfiddymont are you me?! I hit 12 stone 5 last week, logged into mfp and my last recorded weight was 10.4- I thought that was fat! blush

Have been following the 17 day diet since Tuesday and lost a few pounds, currently 11.11.

wails I used to be 8 stone!

I blame a year of utter shite at work but I just got a new job so no more excuses!

I'd like to join the weigh in Friday if I'm allowed to!

Wishfulmakeupping Sun 22-Sep-13 19:05:03

More than welcome to join the weigh in tea smile I broke my own rule and weighed myself today should have waited until fri it was not kind to me

englishteacher78 Wed 25-Sep-13 07:18:19

Looks like I'm now down 20 lbs since coming back from Africa. But that's 20lb in 6 weeks so I'm not trusting our electronic scales. They were a bit haywire this morning and I had to get on them 8 times to get the same reading 3 times!
It ends up making just under 12 stone again. Don't know whether to be happy or concerned about the weight loss.

mrsfiddymont Wed 25-Sep-13 18:07:48

tea welcome. What is the 17 day diet?

wishful grin but I'm still sneaky weighing as well blush.

english 20lbs shock[roundofapplause]. In all honesty, if that was me I would be pleased, more than pleased grin.

Hoping my sneaky weigh in figure this morning "holds" til Friday [fingerscrossed].

englishteacher78 Thu 26-Sep-13 06:16:31

Scales clearly broken. I've not put on 10lbs in a day. Hate this. Have a difficult mental relationship with scales. hmm

SparkyTGD Thu 26-Sep-13 11:03:36

I'm sneaky weighing too, must stop, don't want to get too OTT about it.

Do your clothes feel looser english?

Mine do, and some that I've not been able to wear for ages now fit ok grin

Does anyone have 'thinspiration' or is that not a term I should use? I think in the context of overweight grown women its ok maybe? I know its a difficult issue with slim teenage girls but I feel ok about 'using' that myself.

Mine are Cameron Diaz, Sarah-Jessica Parker, Daisy Lowe (she's doing a 'fit not thin' campaign for the times), Victoria Pendleton.

Actually thinking about it maybe 'fitspiration' or 'slimspiration' would be a better term grin

englishteacher78 Thu 26-Sep-13 17:26:27

Yes, that's why I'm not stressed.

mrsfiddymont Thu 26-Sep-13 19:47:56

english your scales so definitely have to go!

sparky don't have a thinspiration but slowly the lbs are coming off and I have it in my mind that I can actually do this.

Sneaky weigh in today was good, hope I haven't ruined it for "official" weigh in tomorrow.

bouncychair Thu 26-Sep-13 20:30:02

I'm in. I've not been happy with my weight in over a decade and after a family holiday I've weighed in on Monday at 11.8. That's the heaviest I've ever been (apart from when i was pregnant and didn't go anywhere near the scales).

My brother is getting married in February and I would love to be under 9 stone. With Christmas in the way I'm not sure that is a realistic target but I'm going to give it everything I've got.

Following the slimming world plan although I'm not going to the classes as I find them a waste of money. I'm also trying to walk more. I would normally weigh in on a Monday but I think I'll join you all on a Friday!

I think the biggest change in my outlook this time is that I'm not going to tell anyone I'm trying to lose weight. People either try to sabotage my efforts or ask about it all the time. I'm doing this for me and my health.

Wishfulmakeupping Thu 26-Sep-13 20:36:35

Welcome bouncy I've been trying to quietly lose weight too otherwise people want constant updates
english think we have the same scales lol

Not long until weigh in ladies I've not been having my nightly flake that should count for something right?!

Wishfulmakeupping Fri 27-Sep-13 07:49:58

13.6 and 1/2 really pleased that's exactly 1.5 like I was aiming for smile nice surprise as I sneaked on the scales last night and it said 13.8.
I want another 1.5 off by next Friday then if I can get a pound a week off until Xmas that would be good.

Good luck everyone x

mrsfiddymont Fri 27-Sep-13 08:31:53

bouncy welcome. Having an event to aim for is always a good incentive and I totally agree about people sabotaging if they know you are on a diet.

Well done wishful. I also have it in the back of my mind about a lb each week up to Christmas. I am drooling at the thought of a nightly Flake grin.

Got on the scales this morning, they flickered between two numbers before settling on the......6. Down 3lbs this week so I'm now 11.6!!! I have lost 10lbs since I started. I can do this, I CAN DO THIS. Can you tell I'm smilegrin.

Wishfulmakeupping Fri 27-Sep-13 09:18:36

That's fab mrs well done! 3 in a week have you been exercising lots?

bouncychair Fri 27-Sep-13 09:40:50

11.4 this morning so that's 4 pounds since Monday! That's the holiday weight lost.

The last time I felt this determined to loose weight was when I was at Uni and lost 1.5 stones so I really hope I can keep this up.

I have promised my sister that I would make her some Millionaires Shortbread for her birthday tomorrow so I've got a bit of a test this afternoon not to lick the bowl and/or eat half of it before I give it to her!

Wishfulmakeupping Fri 27-Sep-13 11:38:01

Wow bouncy that's fab smile
You are both inspiring me for next week

SparkyTGD Fri 27-Sep-13 12:01:43

Well done everyone grin

I'm 11st 7 today so am pleased.

Was 12 stone for ages and it just didn't budge, think I was hoping the weight would just come off without much effort, which it doesn't unfortunately.

Its definitely going the right direction, I feel slimmer already, have lost an inch off my waist which is my main problem area. All my clothes are looser, yay!!

mrsfiddymont Fri 27-Sep-13 15:29:39

Fantastic loses everyone grin.

bouncy how did the baking go?

sparky I would love an inch from my wasit, I am tub shaped grin.

wishful I have done exactly zero exercise since I started this but my job is manic at the moment so I'm on the go literally all day, so think that is helping.

teaandkittens Fri 27-Sep-13 20:58:45

congrats everyone! grin

I weighed in at 11.9 this morning so that's a total of 10lbs off since I started not eating like a fatty last Tuesday!

I'm on my phone so can't see who asked me but the 17 day diet is basically a 4 stage diet broken down into 17 day chunks... I'm 11 days into stage 1, you basically just eat protein and veg.

Keep at it ladies we're all doing pretty well!

Wishfulmakeupping Fri 27-Sep-13 22:10:30

10lbs!!!! <faints>
Well done you that's amazing

mrsfiddymont Tue 01-Oct-13 06:22:03

How's everyone doing?

SparkyTGD Tue 01-Oct-13 12:16:29

I'm good mrsf how are you getting on?

I feel so pleased that my weight is starting to come off, had been same for so long & think just accepted that was the size I was going to be.

I think the way I'm doing it is helping, we still eat takeaways once a week, eat the same (or similar) evening meals, still drink wine, so I don't feel I'm 'dieting' IYKWIM. Just cutting down (quite drastically) on mainly lunchtime portions & between meal snacking. I only snack on fruit now.

Hopefully can stick with it.
We can do it!! grin

Wishfulmakeupping Tue 01-Oct-13 12:19:14

I'm being quite good for me not going for it as much as you all. My diet is the same minus as many biscuits but I've been walking every day so fingers crossed another 1.5 lbs off by fri smile how are you doing mrs?

mrsfiddymont Tue 01-Oct-13 17:44:35

Glad to hear you are both still with me grin.

I'm doing pretty much the same as you, cutting down. I realise now that I probably ate far too much and didn't actually need the quantity I was eating.

Unbelievably stressful weekend has just passed, am hoping for at least 1lb off this week.

Wishfulmakeupping Tue 01-Oct-13 21:30:03

Hope everything is ok. It's so hard when other things are going on- during any difficult times my default setting is to comfort eat

mrsfiddymont Thu 03-Oct-13 08:32:36

mmmmm takeaways, thing of the past in my house though grin.

I must be stressing away the lbs, scales flickered between 4 and 5 this morning, settled on 5, (started at 12 2, now 11 5). I am very happy seeing that in writing and I don't care that it's Thursday, I'm bagging 11 5 as my weigh in this week, unless the scales show 11 4 tomorrow grin.

Wishfulmakeupping Thu 03-Oct-13 09:33:16

Ha ha why not mrs smile
My scales say I've only lost 1/2 lbs so I'm waiting until tomorrow in the hope that I'll lose another 1 at least by the morning

teaandkittens Thu 03-Oct-13 21:29:49

Hi guys!

Congrats on sticking to it and doing well and mrsf I think you're definitely allowed to weigh in today unless it's lower tomorrow!

I'm a bit grumpy as I have been so good but am only down 1lb since last week after a big loss to begin with. I know it slows down but I'm still grumpy!

Going out for dh's work do tomorrow and there's a three course meal. seen the menu. It is not diet friendly. Argh!

cookielove Thu 03-Oct-13 22:15:23

Hello hello hello can I join?

I think I am probably the heaviest at 14.2 and 5'8.

But i know I can loose weight. My heaviest ever was 16.3 just need to get back on the good eating road. Have been pity eating recently due to a mc.

But onwards and upwards!

SparkyTGD Fri 04-Oct-13 16:58:13

11 st 4 today grin

welcome cookie but you're going to have to change your name! We mustn't think of cookies...

tea we have a takeaway with wine every weekend and I'm still losing because its what I'm eating (or not eating) every day that is helping.

I used to always have a filled baguette/Panini for lunch and often a scone with coffee in the afternoon. I now have soup & bread most days for lunch and only snack on fruit. Haven't really changed the evening meals. And so far (about 3-4weeks later) its definitely working.

mrsfiddymont Fri 04-Oct-13 17:06:22

tea I know the feeling very well of only losing a pound, I want pounds, lots of pounds off every week grin.

grin at your name cookie, welcome.

sparky well done, feels great to see the numbers going down doesn't it?

Definitely bagging yesterdays 11 5 as for once, I didn't weigh today!

teaandkittens Fri 04-Oct-13 18:46:27

welcome cookie....mmmm cookies wink

Thanks for the encouragement sparky you've made me feel better about my meal tonight... One blow out does not equal disaster I guess. That however does not mean I can have two puddings

mrsf congrats on the 11.5!

I was up a pound this morning. How?! I eat salad! so same as last week 11.9 angry maybe eating a big meal tonight will kick start the metabolism for next week!

mrsfiddymont Fri 04-Oct-13 19:15:21

lapse doesn't mean a collapse......cue the clichés grin.

Wishfulmakeupping Fri 04-Oct-13 19:26:05

Welcome Cookie hope you find this thread useful its been good for me.
I did quickly weigh myself this morning but want to weigh myself when I've finished bf my dd might be lighter if the boobs have been fully drained grin

Wishfulmakeupping Fri 04-Oct-13 19:27:04

Oh and well done on the weight losses this week everyone's doing so well

Wishfulmakeupping Fri 04-Oct-13 19:58:59

Ok I was 13.6 1/2 now I'm 13.4 and 1/2 am happy with that last night scales were saying I'd put on smile yey it may be slow but its in the right direction and I'm still getting the odd biscuit get in

cookielove Sun 06-Oct-13 00:26:32

Oh I completely forgot I joined this thread blush

Back at work next week I'm gonna start seriously then. Till then I may be some what naughty!

So do we weigh in on Friday's and report hiw well we've done or not so much?

Wishfulmakeupping Sun 06-Oct-13 10:12:20

Yep Friday is weigh in day!
I've not been following any diet just cutting out biscuits and crisps etc and walking more its coming off slow but its coming off so that's ok smile

SparkyTGD Sun 06-Oct-13 10:15:26

Hi cookie, yes usually weigh in on Friday to stop the urge to weigh every day (can vary so much & be disheartening).

Share tips, reassurance that we're on the right track etc.

Sounds good Wishful, I weigh in the morning, it would definitely be more in the evening IMO, because of food/drinks consumed.

SparkyTGD Sun 06-Oct-13 10:16:07

x-posted,

Good morning grin

SparkyTGD Tue 08-Oct-13 09:47:15

How's everyone getting on?

I'm pleased with how I'm doing but had a stark reminder today that its still early days, a photo of myself taken a couple of days ago & I still look overweight sad

Hoping its not going to flatten my enthusiasm because I think seeing the scales drop some pounds has made me feel I look slimmer (even if its just in my head grin). Onwards.

Wishfulmakeupping Tue 08-Oct-13 10:52:26

Yeah I know what you mean sparky I do feel slimmer but my tummy still looks big in pictures.
I'm concerned about my upper arms aswell they are terrible sad its from putting on and losing weight before they are saggy and I've been exercising but its not making any difference not sure what to do they looked better fat tbh sad

mrsfiddymont Tue 08-Oct-13 16:40:05

Yep, I feel less bulky but I'm still tubby. Feel like I've been "being good" forever....I WANT CURRY AND BEER!!!! grin.

mrsfiddymont Thu 10-Oct-13 08:13:45

Thinking of name changing to MrsWeighsInEarly grin...once again I am bagging my weigh in a day early at 11 3 gringrin, one lb to go then I've lost a stone grin[griin][griin]grin.

Wishfulmakeupping Thu 10-Oct-13 08:52:23

That's brilliant smile you're doing so well mrs

SparkyTGD Fri 11-Oct-13 08:29:29

Well done Mrs, we're getting there grin

11 st 2 today, my weight loss is slowing but I think that's normal, I've read that 1-2 pounds a week loss is ideal.

Another 2 pounds and I will be officially 'not overweight' grin according to BMI.
And about halfway to my goal (although I'll be pleased with anything under 11 stone).

Wishfulmakeupping Sat 12-Oct-13 11:51:37

Well done sparky. I did weigh in yesterday but forgot to post it! I'm 13.3 and 1/2 so another 1 down which is ok as I've not been able to do as much walking this week (bad weather!) but on the plus side I've been told unprompted by 2 family member that I've lost a lot of weight and bumped into a lady from work who told me I look amazing (I could have kissed her!)

mrsfiddymont Sat 12-Oct-13 18:01:19

well done sparky and*wishful*. 1-2lb a week is definitely the way to go, slow and steady wins the race grin.

Am very envy at someone noticing your weight loss, you must have been grin from ear to ear.

Wishfulmakeupping Sat 12-Oct-13 18:48:47

Thank you mrs its been nice its given me a little boost which I needed this week.
I've started doing arm exercises everyday in an attempt to do something about my awful bingo wings please everyone cross your fingers it works.
What exercises is everyone else doing?

SparkyTGD Sat 12-Oct-13 18:55:29

I do Zumba, its been really good for toning, my legs (and arms) definitely have a better shape.

Plus fast walks with the dog, just picking a route that takes about 40mins then trying to walk faster every time, dog not impressed sometimes, I'm like "come on, stop sniffing!" grin

Wishfulmakeupping Sat 12-Oct-13 18:58:45

I have fancied trying Zumba but don't know if I'd feel too self conscious not got a good sense of rhythum and would be bigger than most people there but it does look fun

SparkyTGD Sat 12-Oct-13 19:09:28

There is a real mix at my local zumba class (small town) some people very overweight, some average, a couple of slim fit types (me in a few months hopefully!!)

I think it helps if you like dancing though, its not dance but is quite dance-y.

mrsfiddymont Sat 12-Oct-13 19:44:29

blush no exercise here!

Wishfulmakeupping Mon 14-Oct-13 20:25:18

I know its not Friday but I just weighed myself and I'm 13.1 and 1/2 I know this sounds lots but I'm so happy smile I've lost 53 pounds since dec didn't realise it was that much

mrsfiddymont Tue 15-Oct-13 08:39:39

wishful massive grin and thanks, that is amazing.

Wishfulmakeupping Tue 15-Oct-13 10:00:06

Thank you mrs I'm still a bit shocked really still got a way to go but will get there.
I daydreaming about going on big shopping trip when I lose the rest.
Does everyone have a target weight? Mine keeps changing my goal was get to normal bmi which I'm about 6lbs off but I've been that weigh before and still looked 'big' so I want to lose another stone on top of that so another 20 basically.

SparkyTGD Tue 15-Oct-13 10:25:33

Wishful that's fab, you have done really well.

My target weight is 10 stone (BMI will be about 22-23) but I'll see how I get on, pre DS I was 10st7 and that was fine but bigger than I was used to (although I didn't do much exercise then), when I was in my twenties I was about 9st but that was too thin (looked bony).

Post DS was 11 stone which increased to 12 in the last few years.

SparkyTGD Sat 19-Oct-13 21:37:49

Is anyone there? How's everyone getting on?

Wishfulmakeupping Sat 19-Oct-13 21:42:09

Hi sparky I weighed myself fri I was 13.2 so 1/2 up from earlier in the week but still down overall. I finding it a bit tough with the weather I used to going for long walks with my dd in the pram but trying to fit in little walk inbetween the rain so need to do something about exercising?!
How are things going sparky?

SparkyTGD Sat 19-Oct-13 21:48:19

Hi Wishful, haven't weighed myself this week as I have my period & think that would affect it.

Still doing ok eating wise, hoping I can stay on track, in the past I have done so for a while and then some kind of life event/illness happens & I'm back to 'comfort eating' again and accepting it.

I try to still do the same walks, even in the rain (dog not too impressed at first but if we go somewhere she likes its fine grin)

Wishfulmakeupping Sat 19-Oct-13 22:17:49

It's hard to break the comfort eating habit I don't think I'm anywhere near doing it- there is a strong link for me between emotions and food. Its tough but if we are trying and are conscious about it I think that's a big step Sparky

SparkyTGD Fri 25-Oct-13 09:43:04

Hope everyone hasn't fallen off the bandwagon sad

You still here Wishful? How are you getting on?

I have really plateaued for a couple of weeks, still 11st 2, need to do some more exercise (not been doing much lately) to try & shift some more. Have been eating pretty healthy.

Wishfulmakeupping Fri 25-Oct-13 13:29:22

Hi Sparky still here. I'm hoping I've stayed the same as I don't think I've been as healthy as I should and my daily walks are down to 3 times a week- going to weigh myself and report back hope I've not gained!!

teaandkittens Sat 26-Oct-13 16:37:17

I'm still around, been on holiday! To Italy. Pizza... ice cream... pastries....booze..... Then I came home to a letter from the gp inviting me to a weight management group.

sad

I could actually cry.

Monday I start a new job. So I will start a new eating regime too. I am so sick of being so fat.
#whinge

Wishfulmakeupping Sat 26-Oct-13 20:30:47

Did you have a nice holiday though?
New job new start hopefully its a healthy office mine is terrible constantly biscuits/chocolates so its so hard to be good when there's so much temptation!!

teaandkittens Sat 26-Oct-13 20:45:40

Thanks wishful I had a great time smile unfortunately it shows on my stomach and thighs ha

no idea what the office is like but I've planned my lunches and done the ocado shop plus teas are all sorted too.

My last office was unhealthy too but full of people constantly obsessing about diets etc.... hopefully the new one will be a bit less fixated (there are more blokes so fingers crossed))

SparkyTGD Sun 27-Oct-13 18:41:33

Hi tea [waves] smile

I've had a couple of occasions where people have commented on my weight loss, I still think I look big but it does make me feel better that people notice.

Wishfulmakeupping Wed 30-Oct-13 18:03:03

It's a real boost when people notice isn't it smile
I know its not fri but weighed myself and I'm 12.13 I'm 12 something that feels so much better than 13 something or 15 something which is where I started.
Next couple of weeks will be a test moving house so I can foretell a lot of micro dinners and takeaways while we are sorting things out need to be good

teaandkittens Fri 01-Nov-13 18:01:15

congrats on the 12 stones wishful! And good luck with the house move, hopefully you'll be so busy you wont have time to eat too much. microwave meals are probably better than takeaways! Try the healthy ones from m&s, yes they're not cheap but they'll feel like a treat smile

weigh in today 11.8. bmi not obese any more! Would love to be 11 by Christmas. possible? Yes as long as i don't go mad at the weekends...eek.

How was everyone else's weigh ins? and apologies for atrocious grammar, my phone is not behaving.

Wishfulmakeupping Fri 01-Nov-13 19:34:02

Thanks tea. Well done on weigh in that's fab.
I do like m and s meals not tried the low fat ones so will give them a try smile

MrsPMT Sun 03-Nov-13 12:39:03

have nc (SpTGD)

Well done Wishful and tea

Am 11 stone this week, BMI 24.8, officially 'healthy' yaay! grin

Agree to the M&S meals, I like the 'fuller longer' range.

BestestBrownies Mon 04-Nov-13 08:39:14

Hi everyone, mind if I join?

I've lost 10 kilos over the last 9 months, but have plateaued for almost 2 of them and really want to shift another 5 kilos.

I have been exercising a lot and have gone from a UK size 14/16 to a 10/12 (my goal is to be an 8/10). My body shape has changed a lot, and I realise I've gained muscle which is heavier than fat, but I just seem to be stuck sad

I'm not following any special diet. Just eating healthily (nothing processed, lots of fish and salad, occasional carbs and occasional treats), and exercising regularly (squash, swimming, the occasional BodyPump class).

Does anyone have any useful tips/advice for kick-starting my weight loss again?

Wishfulmakeupping Mon 04-Nov-13 10:08:43

Welcome! Well done on weight loss so far smile and well done mrs on getting bmi to healthy that's a great milestone smile
Im sure someone will come along with some good advice I'm literally just cutting out rubbish and walking everywhere so not following any diet as such- how is your protein intake?

Wishfulmakeupping Mon 04-Nov-13 10:10:21

Do you alternate the exercises bestest supposed to be good to try new ones mix them up - again I've not done this but its just what I've gathered from watching too much tv

MrsPMT Thu 07-Nov-13 10:13:35

Hi Bestest, welcome to the thread smile

I am doing similar, not a specific 'diet' but healthyish eating, no snacking except fruit and occasional indulgences (like takeaways & wine grin) and upping my exercise.

I do about 40 mins to an hour dog walk daily and occasional exercise dvds, was doing zumba but had to stop as it wasn't agreeing with my old bones grin

My weight loss is really slowing, which is normal I think as you get towards 'healthy' bodyweight instead of 'overweight'. I think I need to up my exercise (find a exercise dvd that suits and do it at least 2x a week) as stopping zumba probably not helping.

Was chuffed to get some new jeans last week in a size smaller than I usually buy, still a 14 but used to only fit 'big' 14s or 16. All my 16s are now far to big and some of my 14s are loose now, yippee! grin

MrsPMT Wed 13-Nov-13 16:56:50

Anybody still here?

Wishfulmakeupping Wed 13-Nov-13 18:57:04

Hi I am! How are you getting on?
We are in the middle of movibg house so have been livibg off micro meals and grabbing bits of toast but have been busy so it could have gone either way. The scales are packed so I don't know!!
How about you all?

Wishfulmakeupping Tue 19-Nov-13 20:23:08

Hi how is everyone getting on? I'm down to 12.8 so have lost 5 lbs in last 3 weeks. Really would love to lose the 8 and be 12 stone by the time I return to work on 6th jan that would be so good

MrsPMT Wed 20-Nov-13 13:11:04

Hi Wishful that's fab, you're doing really well.

Haven't lost any for a couple of weeks, still around 11 stone, which is fine (healthy) but I had hoped to continue to lose, will see. Have upped my walking but not really done any other exercise.

teaandkittens Thu 21-Nov-13 19:02:27

sorry I've been missing. ..I just found out I am pg!! grin

so probably won't carry on with the weight loss thing as it may not work that well....Might see you all in 9 months!

Good luck everyone smile

Wishfulmakeupping Thu 21-Nov-13 19:40:06

Wow congrats kittens smile how far gone are you

teaandkittens Fri 22-Nov-13 17:43:47

Thanks! Only 5 weeks! I'm really excited but equally terrified. grin

MrsPMT Wed 27-Nov-13 10:05:12

congrats kittens hope all goes well for you smile
