sammac Tue 02-Jul-13 14:16:13

Just checking in from my holibags. Managing to stick at it with exception of meal at night which is prawns and salad which should keep me in ketosis. Its hard tho'. No ice cream, wine or holiday type treats. HoweverI can slip into my shorts an d tops without feeling blubbery. Tempted to visit paying scales as missed saturdays weigh in. Gping on average I should be at 52 lbs off. Xx

sammac Tue 02-Jul-13 14:19:01

Hello.

Well I'm into my second week and wondering if this is really the diet for me! I'm not hungry really, just very bored!!

Had a night out on Saturday, which doesn't happen often, so didn't even try not to drink. So Sunday ended up being really difficult, hence the KFC wrap in the evening blush

Was speaking to a friend today who started the 5:2 diet last week and she lost 6.5lb. I only lost 5.5lb last week and just wondered what the point was.

Granted she has more to lose than me but....

Do you think the less you have to lose, the less it works, so to speak?
My start weight was 10st 13lb and I would ideally like to get to about 9 4/5lb and I'm just not sure this is the way to be doing it. sad

Maybe (probably not) I'll get a nice surprise on Thursday at weigh in and will get my mojo back!

smokinaces Tue 02-Jul-13 16:40:41

Afternoon all. I'm here. Nine lb in two weeks. Finding it easy to stick to. Gutted this week is looking like a sts though. Well I have till Thursday morning, and I look slimmer, but the scales just aren't budging.

Going to stick with it. I'm at my very top bmi now, so I know that will affect it. And coming up to time of the month too.

Not hungry, enjoying the packs and drinking loads of water too :-)

gollygosh123 Tue 02-Jul-13 16:43:55

any one who has been on this for a long period? eg over 6 months?

can always find lots with great losses of 1 or 2 weeks, but never any further so would be interesting to see if any one on here as stuck to it for over 6mths and their weight loss?

its the one catch that stops me doing it, hare or rabbit

smokinaces Tue 02-Jul-13 17:05:24

I did three months and 3.5 stones a couple of years back

sammac Tue 02-Jul-13 17:32:01

Im on day 90 with 52 lbs off. Three calendar months tomorrow.

I think it depends on how much you want to lose and how badly golly . I knew that I needed to lose weight, but the amount I had to lose was so large it was scary (I needed to lose 7 stone) and this has shown me that it needn't be that hard.

I know, by god do I know, that the work begins on maintenance. Learning not to binge will be my biggest challenge. But it is lovely knowing that I can do this diet if it all goes out of control, although I am going to watch myself carefully to make sure it isn't needed, I haven't been less than 13.5 stone since I went to university, this really feels like it will change my life.

This thread has been really helpful too! For example smokin it's week 3 - you know that normally means stall week! Keep going and you will see it next week. I do normally have an extra pack during those few days of premenstrual hunger with no disastrous effects. I reckon better that than falling head first into chocolate!

Ultimately, this was a punt for me. I tried for a couple of weeks and that has become more. The rapid loss suits my disposition and I actually don't feel too deprived. I am coming off vlcd while dh is home so I can have a drink (grin) but I will be back!

Sorry, typo 12.5 stone is my lowest.

Jolibee Tue 02-Jul-13 20:20:44

Hello I was hoping I could join you all.
After putting on a stone each year for the last 3 years have decided enough is enough! Started Exante on Sunday, craving food but stuck to it. All I want to do is get on the scales!

smokinaces Tue 02-Jul-13 20:40:04

Ah yes, notorious week three. Roll on week four then!!!!

EachAndEveryHighway

Hello, I've been doing Exante on and off for a while, and have suddenly got my motivation back with the better weather!!

Could I just ask if any of you have a voucher code for Exante? I got an email a few days ago saying I had a 'lucky dip' voucher code which would give me between 5% and 25% off - I just tried my code and it was for 15% - I just wondered if any of you doing Exante might have had the same email as me but for 25%, before I make my order. If not, I'm happy to share my code 4116-DC35-4EAB

Best of luck with your individual weight-loss journeys - I did Cambridge 5 years ago and lost 3.5 stone, then if I creep up to a stone over my target I do a 'top-up' to get back down again. So far so good ...

I was going to post this in the voucher code section, but then thought the weight loss section might be more appropriate - hope that's OK.

Just thought I would copy paste from the last thread as you are doing exante too Jolibee!

Hi everyone.
Thanks scone for setting up a new thread. And giving me a link to follow... grin
Well I'm on week 2 of Cambridge diet (after a 10lb loss on first week). I'm doing better this week I'm not having so many food cravings and not trying to pick at my dd food while I'm feeding her.
Sammac and scone. ... You guys are amazing the amount of weight lost.
I'm finding these posts really help me to stay motivated.
Good work everyone and Welcome to the newbies.x

Sorry Jelly, but arf at your autocorrect's version of Sammac's name grin

freckles21 Tue 02-Jul-13 21:22:53

Hello all
I hope everyone is okay.
Last week was a bit bad for me, I forgot my packs at work so had 2 hard boiled eggs and an inch of mattesons sausage, been craving a chicken kebab for last couple of weeks so had a small one on Friday then Sunday had a carvery with 2 bottles of kopperberg and a mint cornetto. Scales are showing a 1lb loss which brings me to my stone, whoop whoop. But truthfully, I struggled to eat the food, found it an effort to chew and actually didn't want it, am I normal or not.
Actually don't answer that lol.
I've got 2cweeks till my holiday so 100% on plan this week. Long term plan is to do this again for 3weeks after my holiday then move onto 5:2 diet.
Wishing everyone all the best. Still people on here inspire me to continue with this journey and motivate me to remain strong.
Here's to the next week and more losses and inspiring tales. Xxx

Well done Freckles - first stone done and dusted!

A stay the same for me this week, which actually I am quite pleased about considering that I was 3.5 pounds up by Saturday am!

laura4jasmine Wed 03-Jul-13 08:08:54

Hi, can I join you?! I am in desperate need of loosing about 6st (ugg!) and am starting packs today. I have messed around with this for a while but I feel motivated to get this done now. You are very encouraging by how well you are doing and since I don't have support IRL I would really appreciate it here. Well, day one - here goes smile

Hello laura - welcome to the thread! Which plan are you doing as they all vary slightly, and we don't want to steer you wrong...

I don't have any support irl either and in some ways I think it is easier not telling people as they tend to have a very skewed view of this kind of diet.

6 stone is easily doable! The first 4 or 5 days are awful, but once ketosis kicks in it is much much easier. Come on as often as you need and chat, it really does help.

Jolibee Wed 03-Jul-13 11:55:33

Thanks Scone for the voucher code sorry I don't have a code. I bought my six week pack from Groupon for £106. That was the first time I have seen it on offer on there though.
Wow 3 1/2 stone on the Cambridge diet is brilliant.
Freckles your stone is making me battle through this.
Day 4 and feeling much better, no head ache and feeling lively!

smokinaces Wed 03-Jul-13 13:18:39

Well looks like I might be lucky with a pound tomorrow if im good. Had two packs and a chicken salad already though, so going to struggle tonight with just a pack to go :-/

New guy im seeing ( a whole month if that!) is taking me away this weekend, hotel, wine, food. Going to knock myself out of ketosos sat morning for the weekend, and try to stick to gin and protein salads for dinner but obviously going to have a wee impact.

sammac Wed 03-Jul-13 15:35:36

Lol spam mac x

laura4jasmine Wed 03-Jul-13 16:34:15

Thanks Scone smile I'm doing Lighter Life, I know it's expensive but the packs taste great and the counsellor is lovely. Getting through today much better than I expected so I'm feeling hopeful.
I think you're right, it's easier not to have to explain this to anyone.

Laura, you won't find us judging your choice, we're all in the same boat after all! If you like the counsellor and the packs then that is bloody terrific, all power to you.

bbpants Wed 03-Jul-13 18:19:36

Yay new thread - hello everybody.

<<mmmm spam>>

smile

Just realised that I completely failed to wave the Pom poms for Maggie and her 10 pound loss so far!

Nornironmum Wed 03-Jul-13 18:59:03

Hi all, everyone is doing so well. I started on the 17th of June doing soule source on Cambridge. Got weighed the flowing Tuesday so 8 days later and lost 14lb, I had 20 to lose. Started soule source plus last Tuesday so a week yesterday, got weighed Monday and had lost 3lb, then weighed today lost another one. Seeing consultant on Saturday so I'm hoping for another 1b. I know that only leaves me 2lb to target but I'm going on hols 25th of July so I decided to change my target and aim for another 9lb, I'm sticking to soule source plus to try to do it, and will move up the plans after holiday, after a week on soule source to lose the holiday weight. I am drinking tons of water, maybe 5lts per day and I really think this is what's done it. I really hope to go on my holiday with that 9lb off, but would be happy with 7lb and I seem to be losing 3 a week so I hope I can do it. Good luck everyone

freckles21 Wed 03-Jul-13 19:32:30

Hello all and welcome,
My bloody packs haven't arrived, I literally have four packs of porridge left. Great, like the porridge but also like having variety in my day. Boossh are being a nightmare to get through too. Anyway rant over
Good luck to those just starting, I've found it easier to stick to by sticking a chart on the wall in my kitchen with my plan and each day crossing it off when I have done it. This has kept me motivated even when off the plan as I just write what I have eaten.
What does irl mean? Xx

Irl = in real life

Cos we is secret squirrels innit?

Slim and save is next day, so order tonight/tomorrow and they would arrive Friday if that helps at all.

Norniron what an amazing loss! Memo to self <must drink more water>

Lauren1204 Wed 03-Jul-13 20:35:02

Hi everyone, i'd like to join you all.

I am hoping to start my Cambridge diet journey very soon - just waiting for an appointment with my consultant.

I'm currently 5ft 8 and weigh around 17.5 stones sad

I'm not really sure what weight i'd like to be - I just want to be a size 14 (currently 18/20). I've also found recently that my knees have started hurting when I get up from being seated and my asthma is worse.

Just need to finally shift these pounds and stop being greedy/lazy too!

My only concern is that I will give in to my craving too easily. I've been considering counselling/hypnotherapy - has anyone tried this?

Lauren x

Hi Lauren, don't feel too sad, you will see really quick results on this diet. I am 5ft 7.5 and started at 16.13 on April 17th.

I am now 13.13!

Counselling and hypnotherapy are both helpful if you have stuff you need to talk about. I just blather on here... wink

Lauren1204 Wed 03-Jul-13 21:00:24

Hi Scone, thanks for the nice welcome. Just had a phone chat with my consultant and she sounds fab! She is coming to see me tomorrow at 7pm with the products etc. She went through all the details on the phone and is wanting me to try the soul source plus to start with. Am I right in thinking that I don't have to eat the meal if I don't want and just have the shakes etc?

Congrats on your fab weight loss its amazing!

I shall be a regular on here I think - its nice having others to chat to who are in the same position and know what i'm going though.

Hubby has had strict instructions to keep me away from food! lol.

L x

PurplePotato Wed 03-Jul-13 21:18:22

Hi Lauren, I've started today and am exactly the same weight as you. Want to be diet buddies?
Scone, I have been following your progress for a few weeks and you are quite inspirational smile Hope I can achieve the same.

laura4jasmine Wed 03-Jul-13 21:26:24

Hi Lauren & Purple I can't believe I mad it through the first day! This is hard but will be so worth it. Good luck on your journey smile

PurplePotato Wed 03-Jul-13 21:34:17

Hi Laura! Well done. I've found it fine today too (doing Slim and Save). Long may it continue.

Lauren1204 Wed 03-Jul-13 21:52:57

Hi everyone.

Purple I would love to be diet buddies smile i think it would be much easier with all the support on here especially for those tricky days!

I am starting my CD on friday!

One day down Laura-well done! We will get there!!

MyJellybean Wed 03-Jul-13 22:20:10

Sammac, my apologies. I have just noticed my I-pad changed your name to spam mac, I hate this thing!!!!!
Good luck Laura, they're a great bunch on here so you'll get all the encouragement you need.
Jolibee, I got my first 2week Exante plan on Groupon in May. I bought other packs since then and also the 6week one a couple of weeks ago again on Groupon. I was fine until week 4 when I had to include a meal and it became 3weeks of including a meal. Then through those on this thread I discovered Slim and Save who have evening meals that taste great (so do their choccy bars).
I have survived my 3day training course where, as expected, they provided lunches each day of mixed sandwiches, chris ps and fruit. I took my shakes and a salad.

smokinaces Thu 04-Jul-13 07:23:58

A sneaky two pounds down this morning. 10'5 down from 11'2 three weeks ago. Only threepounds off my lowest from last summer. Wasn't expecting anything, but something obviously worked. With being in my bmi now and having pcos this two pounds is an achievement!

Now, what can I eat Saturday and Sunday to knock me out of ketosis enough to make alcohol safe, but not completely wreck it???

Welcome to the newbies :-) I was very anti vlcd until I did Cambridge in October 2011 and now I am a convert

Ooh, good question smokin'! I have no idea...

Cracking loss too - well done! if when I reach that size I think the whole uk will be able to hear my screams of delight! You must be thrilled.

grin grin

laura4jasmine Thu 04-Jul-13 08:19:49

Well done Smokin, just shows if we stick to it, it will work!

Feeling happy this morning, which is very unusual for me, I'm usually telling myself off for not trying harder yesterday. It's nice to wake up feeling calm and looking forward to the day for a change.

Does the Slim & Save packs taste good? I have looked online and I see they are much cheaper than LL. I really like the taste of LL and lets face it, if this is all you're going to eat it's got to taste good! LL do porridge, soups, shakes, meals and bars. I don't like shakes but I love being able to have porridge, soup, bar and dinner, it's like having a proper meal routine......well, I can kid myself lol.

Hope you're all off to a good start this morning smile

smokinaces Thu 04-Jul-13 08:59:47

I love the slim and save. Highly recommend them. I too have porridge or shake for breakfast, a bar with a salad and a meal for dinner - makes choices simpler and they do taste nice. Other than crispy shakes. Eugh.

Thinking one slice of wholemeal bread and some new potatoes. Lowish carb, easier to burn

Thinking back to when I did Pig2twig, that was about 40g of carb per day and alcohol was allowed. So maybe it is the combination of ketosis and calories (lack of!) in here that makes the difference?

Although of course alcohol gets burned before fat.

Laura - I'm with s&s as well, and although I don't like the crispy shakes either most of it is really tasty. There is no counsellor though if you like that aspect of LL, but there is a forum and help.

It is amazing the difference a couple of days makes. I am 2 pounds down since Weds... And now wondering how not to shaft myself while dh is home. I don't want to undo my hard work! He is back for 3 weeks and in that time it is his birthday, ds birthday and a trip to see his family in NornIron.

Do you guys think it would work to basically low carb (with alcohol) and maybe do 2 days a week on programme or would you must stick with low carb and deal with it as I go along? confused

waves hello

I have just ordered my first month of Slim and Save.
I did slimfast years ago and it was the only thing that kickstarted my weight loss. I was 115KG at 17 years old and was 70KG a year later, I only did 3 months but it was the process that got me started.

So now, after a very rough pregnancy I am back up to 105KG and normal eating habits just can't be maintained. I am very nervous but excited as I know I can do it again.

The only thing that worries me is how to discuss it with my OH. I was single when I was losing before so had no one to answer to... but i know he will question why I am doing it this way. How have your OH's coped with you doing VLCD? how did you work mealtimes (I always cook)?

Lauren1204 Thu 04-Jul-13 15:50:38

My OH is very supportive. I have told him that I need his help to ensure that I do not have anything tempting me to cheat! He even offered to do the food shop for me! Shock!

I start tomorrow so not sure yet how i'll feel when I am making dinner for him/kids - we shall see how it goes!

Good luck thehorsedentist!

Well my dh is 10,000 miles away so I am not the best person to ask about partner ishoos...

But that does mean I have been looking after the dc single handed for the whole time, including cooking. For me, I make sure I eat something at the same time as my dc - a bar in the early days, now it's a shake (sometimes turned into mousse) and a huge glass of water. I often have some salad at that point too.

The first few days were tricky, but you do learn to cope!

If you really think your oh will kick off do you think having the small protein meal (instead of one of the shakes) with him would placate him?

smokinaces Thu 04-Jul-13 15:58:30

Scone, lot do that - basically 5:2 principle, but five days low carb with alcohol and odd treat, two days on plan. You should sts if nothing else.

I am single so don't need to worry. I don't tell many people I've done this or doing it - I have relaxed into two to three packs with either one or two salads so its not as obvious in my case.

Darkesteyes Thu 04-Jul-13 18:17:53

Havent read the whole of this thread but ive just given a local Cambridge consultant a ring. Ive got almost 4 stone to lose Am popping round to see her tommorrow. Ive been trying to diet myself since mid April living on Weetabix fish and veg. Ive lost some cos clothes are loose but its taking so long and ive also been getting intermittent diarraheoa with it.
Eleven years ago i lost 10 stone at Slimming World. Is this Cambridge thing going to be doable for me? I have an appointment to discuss it with the consultant tomorrow.

Darkesteyes Thu 04-Jul-13 18:21:18

DH is already moaning about me doing this even though ive been mentioning that i might for the past couple of months. Not a word from him until i actually phoned the consultant today though.

Darkesteyes Thu 04-Jul-13 18:23:49

DH is moaning about signing up to a contract or subscription I take it thats not the case with this though.

Darkesteyes Thu 04-Jul-13 18:25:47

He said not to sign a contract and tie our money up.

I dont know much about cambridge, although i am sure that one of the others will know about contracts etc.

There is no contract with Slim and Save darkest if that is the only thing worrying him. You can buy as much or as little as you like - postage is £4.99 for each order.

I started off with two weeks worth (the taster pack plus a few extra shakes) to see how it was. It worked really well for me.

sammac Thu 04-Jul-13 19:55:03

Hello and welcome to everyone. Managing to stick to it with a cheeky wee prawn salad. Still no alcohol or ice cream. Much tougher on holiday when you want to relax and indulge. However shorts and vest without embarassment is making up for it slightly.
My dh has been so supportive with shopping and cooking. He knew that I wasnt happy and is enjoying the newish me and the happier me, altho not there yet.

laura4jasmine Thu 04-Jul-13 20:00:21

I don't mind not having a counsellor as long as there is this thread and if there is a forum on S&S then that would be great. I might just order some and see what it's like. LL works out about £72 pw which is alot and if I can get the same results for less then I have to look into it.

My DH is really supportive but he must have the patients of a saint cause I'm always trying to loose weight one way or another (obviously, not very sucessfully!). I don't know if I could handle swapping things around during the week, but that's just me.

Can't believe it's the end of day 2 and I'm not tempted at all, usually eating my fingers by now lol.

£72 pw yikes.

S&s is about £39 pw for four packs a day.

laura4jasmine Thu 04-Jul-13 20:05:52

Thanks Scone will def have to look now!!!!!

sammac Thu 04-Jul-13 20:15:02

Ll is expensive. U pay for 4 weeks counselling up front and then your food on top. Works out about 55 for 3weeks then week 4 is about 115!!! Too much money not to dp it seriously. And u pay if you re not there. My holiday means missing 3 weeks of weighin/ counselling but still have to fork out. Big con i know!!!

Lauren1204 Thu 04-Jul-13 20:31:01

My Cambridge diet consultant has just been and she is amazing! So motivational and excited to work with me.

I didn't have to sign any contract and just pay her weekly when she comes (£42). This is what I will save on shopping anyway.

She did all my measurements and I need to lose exactly 6 stone to be in my ideal weight category. I even got to try some samples and she gave me a few freebies - I feel really positive now - she is good for my self esteem! I can do it!

Hope everyone else is getting on ok today!

Jolibee Thu 04-Jul-13 20:55:54

Well done Smokin, fantastic getting into your BMI. It is posts like that that keep me going.
Thank you so much for all your welcomes.
Jellybean, thanks for the info about Slim and Save. The porridge I am really struggling with with Exante, it is just so, uhmmm sweet and watery. Def going to be getting meals and bars from slim and save and thinking of binning the porridge.
Ha ha yes agree I was very anti VLCD until I got into this state and have seen them work!
Horsedentist I know it is so hard telling people you are doing this. No real reason just I don't need anything negative about me whilst I am battling! DH doesn't really know what to do; he is really supportive but when I complain I am starving bless him he tells me I look ok and just to go and eat :-/

Darkesteyes Thu 04-Jul-13 21:27:59

Thats great Lauren but i want to decide what weight i want to be GP once told me to get down to 12 stone. And told me NOT to go below 10 stone 6 as it would be wrong for my height and build (hourglass with big boobs)

Darkesteyes Thu 04-Jul-13 21:31:12

Thanks for posting about the contract question though Lauren DH is looking for reasons for me not to do this.
shock but not surprised at the price of LL Alright for people like Denise Welch. They can afford it.

MyJellybean Thu 04-Jul-13 21:35:38

You can make the porridge with less water and make them into biscuits, I've not tried them but do have a porridge pack to try it out.

Darkesteyes Fri 05-Jul-13 00:53:35

Ive just skimmed through the old thread. Really scared that im not going to be able to do this. Stuff about hair falling out (this actually did happen to my mum when she did Cambridge in 1990) And the maintenance plan scares the shit out of me. (if i even get that far) Im not really a meat eater. Bit worried now.

Morning darkest. I wonder if you wouldn't be better doing Biwi's boot camp over on the low carb board. It works on the same idea as vlcd in that it induces ketosis and that is what burns the fat, but it isn't about weighing or measuring, no calories restriction and much easier to start with and get your head around than this.

It will take longer to lose 6 stone than vlcd, but if you stick to it, low carb really does work. It is what I am planning to do for maintenance.

I am not trying to put you off! I certainly haven't noticed losing hair!! But ultimately if you are ready to lose weight but are worried about this then you would be better trying something less scary to you.

I was a total sceptic before I started this. That is why I only bought two weeks worth! I nearly stopped after 2 weeks, but pushed through the doubts and uncertainty and it has been the best decision I have ever made.

Best of luck with your decision. If you want to give it a go, I would look at s&s that I linked upthread and try the taster pack. Whatever you choose I wish you the very best of luck. xx

maggie666 Fri 05-Jul-13 07:46:23

How is everyone doing today? I've been very good this week but not drank all my water. Don't think I've lost much this week tho (week 2) maybe 2lbs. Did anyone else not lose a lot on their 2nd week?
Smokin have a lovely weekend away with your new fella. Looks like it's gonna be a scorcher of a weekend.

laura4jasmine Fri 05-Jul-13 08:28:38

Lauren you sound so ready to do this! Glad your meeting went so well and you clicked with your counsellor and she's right, you can do this smile

scone have bit the bullet and ordered a week of S&S, it's a very similar range to LL but wow the price! Hope they taste as good as I expect, it would make such a difference. Packs should be here Mon - I can't wait!

Darkest Please don't let other peoples stories put you off, I think you should just take each day as it comes and see how it works for you. Really don't need to worry about maint now, I'm not a big meat eater, but I'll find a way cause I think the excitment of being at my goal will be the motivation to keep me on track. I have 6st to loose as well and it seems like a tall order just now but with good support and positive attitude we can do this smile

Maggie you know that 2lbs is still a loss, but drinking the water really does speed things up for some people. I have seen posts on other forums where people have weeks where they loose very little or stay the same, but the following week is usually a big loss. Stick with it you will see the results.

Jolibee my DH is the same, if I say I'm hungry he tells me to have a piece of toast - that won't hurt hmm he really doesn't get it bless him.

Well, here I am day 3, still have a stinking headache but have co-codamol which seems to deal with it and hopefully will be in ketosis tom so it should be gone. Have a great day everyone!

Lauren1204 Fri 05-Jul-13 11:45:53

Hi All smile

First shake done and wasn't as bad as I expected! Chocolate Mint yum smile I am going to try adding some ice next time too when I blend it!

Darkest I had lots of fears but my counsellor went through them -I had agreed with hubby when I started that I would trial it and see if it for me. So far so good on day 1 lol.

Laura hope your headache disappears soon!

Lauren1204 Fri 05-Jul-13 11:47:45

Maggie you might surprise yourself and it be more of a loss! Positive thinking smile

Darkesteyes Fri 05-Jul-13 13:12:07

Thanks ladies I have 3 stone to lose before a get to my happy weight. If i lose 4 i will see that as a bonus. I have lost a stone since April by myself. I lost ten stone at Slimming World ten/eleven years ago.
After much thought i have decided this Cambridge isnt for me. I just got a bit impatient The weight is coming off slowly but surely I did get gallstones when i was at SW so i have been through hell before myself. I am going to carry on as i was doing as it is working. Will up my excersise though. Good luck to you all You are showing amazing willpower.

Darkesteyes Fri 05-Jul-13 13:18:26

This is from another thread I have had problems before even though the weight loss was successful at SW So my fears come from experience.

I lost a stone a month for seven months. And a year to lose the final 3 Do you still have a gall bladder? Im asking because i developed gallstones through losing the weight so quickly I was back and forth to hospital for ten months. The pain was so bad that the first time they thought it was a heart attack. Besides the toing and froing to casualty i also had GPS come out to give me morphine injections. On Christmas Eve 2002 the doc miscalculated the dose and i spent Christmas Day in hospital recovering from an overdose. They then gave me morphine pills which would melt under the tongue whenever i had an attack It was the only med that would kill the pain. Near the start of developing gall bladder disease i was hovvering up Paracetamol Tramadol mixing them ANYTHING to kill the pain.
Now whenever i drop my portion sizes i have sharp s pains all over my stomach and back. I did have my gall bladder removed in April 2003 9 months after gallstones started but God knows what long term damage its done ..both the gallstones and the cocktail of drugs i was taking in desperation before morphine was finally prescribed.

Lauren1204 Fri 05-Jul-13 14:03:45

One of the things my consultant asked me was if I had a history of gallstones.

Luckily for me I had mine removed about 2 years ago. The pain from them was worse than childbirth!

Darkesteyes Fri 05-Jul-13 14:37:23

YY Lauren. Im not a mum but an ex neighbour of mine who is a mum said the same when she got gallstones. She said she would rather go through 3 labours than 3 attacks of gallstones. It is fucking excrutiating.

Sassee Fri 05-Jul-13 19:28:30

Looking for some advice.

The good bit it is I'm into week 5, 25lbs down, really motivated and focused.

The bad bit is I've just found out I need a further operation following a very rough forceps delivery 11 weeks ago.

I've been put to the top of the list and will be having it on 5 August. I'll be having a general anaesthetic.

Gutted doesn't cover it. I really don't want this and sobbed when I was told I needed it.

I also don't want to lose my momentum. I know what I'm like, if I'm forced to come off the diet I'll do it with a bang.

Does anyone have any experience of operations whilst on slim and save? Both the build up? Would I be ok going under? And the recovery? I know I'm going to be put in antibiotics straight away to ward off infection.

Oh Sassee, what a bastardish thing to happen. I think it might be worth calling their live help on Monday morning and asking the experts. I hope that you are still getting to enjoy your lovely baby.

Well done though, 25lbs is an amazing result!

laura4jasmine Sat 06-Jul-13 07:41:14

Sassee so sorry this is happening to you when you are doing so well. There have been 2 people in the LL class who have had surgery and had to stop LL about a week before and start again about 8 weeks after. I know they won't let you join if you have had surgery in the past 12 weeks. Really think you need to contact them to make sure. Loads of luck.

So, I had a sneeky weigh in this morn and I've lost 7lbs - in 3 days woohoo so happy grin . Feeling motivated and excited to see how the rest of the week goes. Def helps me face the weekly grocery shop, was so not looking forward to that.
Hope you all have a lovely weekend!

Nornironmum Sat 06-Jul-13 19:37:22

Hi all, looking some advice, I'm almost at the end of week 3, week 4 starting Monday and after loosing 14 the first week, 4 the second week I have lost nothing this week.
I am mostly doing soule source, I do soule source plus at weekends, my cons said weight loss is the same on both.
Why have I not lost this week? It's not totm and I am still drinking tons of water?
I'm getting really scared that it will stay like this now.

Don't panic NornIron. Week three is notorious for being stall week both on vlcd and on low carb.

I repeat Don't Panic! grin

Just keep going and it will shift again next week and the week after. The rate of loss does tend to slow down but you won't be on that plateau forever, promise!

Nornironmum Sat 06-Jul-13 21:50:38

Thanks scone, my cons said the same. I have 6 to go before my hols, and 19 days to do it. I hope I do it as I have tried so hard.
Do u think I will lose in week 4? Has this happened to anyone else on Cambridge?
How is everyone doing?

Ooh, I should think you'll do it! What a great result for two weeks - 18 pounds!

Nornironmum Sat 06-Jul-13 21:59:43

I know I am really happy as I put it on after stopping smoking and breaking my leg and ankle in 3 places and getting surgery to get a lot of metal in.
I used to train 4 times per week, but at the min it's sore to even walk. It's i my been 18 weeks though and I'm hoping that improves too. X

Nornironmum Sat 06-Jul-13 22:50:04

Also wanted to ask, has anyone used raspberry keystones while doing a vlcd? Was thinking that might kick start me again?

Lauren1204 Mon 08-Jul-13 10:51:18

On day 4 now. It is getting easier although I struggle when the kids go to bed, all I can think about is food. Even on TV every advert is about food!!

Had a sneaky weigh this morning and I've lost 7lb. Very very happy with this :D

Well done Lauren, it does get easier as you keep going! And 7lbs is terrific!

NornIron, I have no experience with the raspberry things I am afraid, but I do know that if you just keep trucking as you are that you will lose next week.

MrsPnut Mon 08-Jul-13 14:26:25

Can I just sidle in here, I'm going to start exante this week, my packs arrived today and I will start on Thursday or Friday so when ketosis kicks in I won't be at work.

I lost 5 stone on LL 5 years ago but put it all back on and then some, I've lost 3 stone of that but I have stalled. I could do with losing at least 5 stone, if not 7 but I shall assess as I go along. I'm hoping the packs taste nice because with ll I could at least swap them if they were disgusting.

laura4jasmine Mon 08-Jul-13 15:51:03

Hi everyone - welcome MrsPnut. This heat is killing me - I so should have been an Eskimo!

Anyway, still on packs and feeling good. I took the plunge and ordered a week of Slim & Save which arrived this afternoon. I tried the Lemon Spritz first - which was very refreshing in this heat. I had lunch of a Cookie & Cream milkshake. I'm not a fan of frothy milk but I put a lot of crushed ice in and drank it through a straw and it was yummy. So happy I found this forum and have the chance to try something new. Planning on having either Chili or Cheesy Pasta for dinner and oh I can't wait for the choc/coconut bar after the kids are in bed!

laura4jasmine Mon 08-Jul-13 15:53:56

Lauren well done = great start smile

Norn I think 18lbs is amazing already! There is only so much weight your body can possibly loose and I think if you stick with the packs you will get great results.

How's everyone else doing?

Right, I am having to stop a few days early as I have just totally fucked my back. Can hardly move and it is scaring my dd as I keep crying as it hurts so much. So I am having some toast and alcohol to get me through the evening.

I will come back and see how you are all doing, so don't get disheartened and naughty! I will be back in early August to start again.

Nornironmum Mon 08-Jul-13 19:49:52

Scone I posted earlier; it disappeared?
Hope you are ok and have good pain relief? I used tramadol after my op, it was all that worked, though couldn't look after dc with it. Enjoy your well deserved toast and wine. I can't wait to have a glass/bottle.
How is everyone doing? First day of week 4 here, hoping to get a woosh soon.

That is the problem Norn, have to look after the dc, the dogs, chickens and guinea pigs. Dh not home until Friday.

it really really really hurts

Forgot to say hello to MrsPnut, sorry! Hello MrsP and welcome to the thread. You have done it before and well done on starting again. That is the spirit! grin

kateyjane Mon 08-Jul-13 21:10:57

Hi everyone
Please can I join? I started LL on Thursday 4th July. I have 8stone 9lb to lose! Since reading this thread I decided to investigate sns, it seems much better - loads more choice and pounds cheaper. My sns arrive tomorrow - i cant wait! I decided to swap (was due to start the classes this week, so had only paid membership and one week packs thank goodness). By my scales I have lost 13lb so far - hoping for over a stone by Wednesday. So I guess I now have 7stone 10lb to lose. That sounds so much better grin

I have previously lost 13 stone with a gastric bypass in feb 2000. However 4 children later I have put 8 back on. So it just proves that surgery isn't the easy answer - determined not to let myself go any further.

It has been really helpful reading this and the previous thread. Thank you and I look forward to sharing the journey.

Wow, Katey. You are obviously mega motivated! Of course you can join - we are very friendly -- and in my case smashed--

I am going to go now. It m very very drink. grin

Nornironmum Mon 08-Jul-13 22:25:25

Hi Katy, welcome! You will get there much quicker than you think I bet. You have almost done the first week which is the hardest, so you will sail by now.
Lol at scone, enjoy your wee drink and have one/several for me.
I just keep thinking of my first glass of chilled rose in 17 days.

MyJellybean Mon 08-Jul-13 22:35:58

Lol scone, you're even slurring your text.

Welcome to Katey and MrsPnut. I started 8 weeks ago with Exante. I found the first 3 weeks easy (after first 2 or 3 days), until week 4 when I had to eat an evening meal each day which turned into 3 weeks of eating an evening meal every day. However I then discovered the slim and save evening meals and I've been on track for 4 weeks, although I do go out for dinner or have a BBQ weekends.

I lost 1 3/4lb this week, totalling 25 3/4lb in 8weeks. I want to lose 2 1/4lb next week to give me a 2st loss in 2 calendar months.

kateyjane Mon 08-Jul-13 22:58:12

I hope your back is better soon scone and enjoy your drink!

Thank you Nornironmum - have found today really hard. Lots of cakes out at work! But keep thinking of getting into some nice clothes and having more energy!

Well done on your loss MyJellyBean - that's brilliant.

I have morning after the night before regret. envy

And my back is still buggered sad

laura4jasmine Tue 09-Jul-13 07:11:43

Scone so sorry you are having such a rough time. Really hope you hang around, you are so encouraging and helpful - take care smile

Welcome Katie this type of plan is great once you get into ketosis, stick with it - you can do this! I had my stomach stapled in '96 but it wasn't till 3 years ago that I lost any serious amount of weight - 13.7st. I got really hung up on my loose skin looking worse than the fat and have put on 6st....I know, really stupid. Oh how I would love to be back, but this time I will appreciate it. You're right, surgery is not the answer, you have to want to do it.

I don't think I am in Ketosis yet, on day 4.
I have experienced Ketosis before when fasting so know what my breath is like but I don't have any symptoms right now.
I have been following the lifestyle plan to the letter, and using the meal planner to track my carbs and drinking 4 L of water so I don't really understand where I have gone wrong.

Any ideas?

It will kick in tomorrow, don't worry. It is impossible to do this diet and not go into ketosis. Mine kicked in day 5 too. ((Squidge))

Nornironmum Tue 09-Jul-13 14:38:35

Well scales have not moved in over a week! Doing soule source again now, this is week four. Starting to loose faith now.

Now now Norn, cut yourself some slack. That is the end of that week 3 naughty stall week. This is the beginning of week 4 and you will be successful. You already are!

Make sure you drink plenty of water because with this hot weather you will be losing some through sweat.

Just keep swimming. Keep on keeping on. It will go, it will.

Nornironmum Tue 09-Jul-13 16:16:10

I so hope you are right scone, if I don't get the 6lb off on thus diet, ill never get it off. Back on soule source totally now.
Even loosing that 6lb my bmi is only getting into the normal range, though I am happy with that, I am muscular with big boobs, never going to be skinny, never want to, 10.7 stone is my ideal weight. I'm a size 10 at that.
So it's not like I am skinny or anything? Still in the over weight range. Move scales move move move move.
I hate week 3, and looking like 4 too.

Yes you will. (((Squidge))))

Lets look at the basics. You are drinking plenty? Spacing the packs out evenly? Not taking anything extra? Time of the Month?

MrsPnut Tue 09-Jul-13 16:36:06

Norn - sometimes you might have a few weeks of the scales not moving and then you lose 8lb the next week. If you are doing sole source and drinking plenty of water then the weight will come off.

I'm planning to start on friday and then hopefully I'll be over the worst of it and in ketosis by monday morning. I'm going food shopping on thursday after work and so I won't be tempted over the weekend. The start of this diet has been planned with precision, so OH can cook for the weekend and I can just hide in bed feeling hungry and sorry for myself. Once ketosis kicks in then I can leap back into action.

Nornironmum Tue 09-Jul-13 16:39:51

Drinking gallons of water. Not eating anything but the packs, first pack at 9am second at 2, then at 5. Haven't had a period in 3 years, been on depo, had to come off it in October because of bone density, but still no period as it normally takes me a year anyway.
Normally when I loose weight I loose some off my boobs, not this time, they are v big and quiet hard, but I'm def not pregnant: dh said its because shoulders are smaller they look bigger, maybe he is right. I am very close to the weight I can't get past, though technically this is still over weight, it's a weight I'm happy with.
I need to get this 6lb off before my holidays so that when I gain some back I still come back this size and not this size plus 6lb.
God I want to scream.

Hmm. Well if you are definitely definitely not pg then it might be a period on its way.

You will lose, it is impossible not to! You are just holding on to water for some reason. Can you go for a walk to take your mind off it?

Nornironmum Tue 09-Jul-13 16:50:43

Nornironmum Tue 09-Jul-13 16:53:40

Don't know why that posted twice?
I really can't walk much. I have quite a lot of metal in my ankle, I broke it 12th of march, so it's still healing, I have 11 screws and a metal plate in, like Robo cop!
My cons only lost 1lb week 3 and she had 8 stone to lose, so I won't give up. Still 18lb lost in 4 weeks.

Yeouch. Painful. Maybe not a walk then...grin

Glad you aren't going to give up. You will have a lovely loss next week and it will all feel worthwhile again.

freckles21 Tue 09-Jul-13 22:15:03

Hello all, norn, you will lose this week, I stayed the same same for week 3 and 4 but I had eaten and drunk, lost 5lbs this week. Yippee. I have got one more week on boossh, then I'm off to tunisia for 2weeks so I'm having a break and then when I come back straight back on plan, was going to do the 5:2 but dp has said to continue doing this as I'm enjoying it and not really struggling.
I think everyone on here shows real determination and have inspired me to start and continue. I love recieving compliments from others and keep thinking of all the clothes I have up in the loft that will fit again. Lol.
Good luck everyone and well done on losses.
Scone I hope you begin to feel better soon. Xx

kateyjane Tue 09-Jul-13 22:36:40

Well done freckles21

Scone - I really feel for you, hope you are on the mend soon.

Thank you Laura - it sounds like we've been on similar journeys!

My slim and save arrived today - had the cottage pie and a bar so far. Soooo much nicer than LL! Really glad I changed.

Your poor ankle Nornir - you are doing brilliantly, especially considering everything.

I don't know how you all manage to drink the amout of water we're supposed to? I am a teacher and finding it really hard as it makes me need the loo all the time!!(also not helped by having had 4 children grin)

Hope everyone has a good day tomorrow! Day 7 for me, so will be my first proper weigh in (at home though, as I'm not going to start LL) I'm keeping everything crossed!

MyJellybean Tue 09-Jul-13 22:57:24

Well done on loss Freckles, and good luck kateyjane with your weigh in.
I tried the S&S cookies and cream shake today. That has to be the worse shake ever, it's the only one of S&S and Exante shakes that has physically made me retch, it was horrid, had to throw away.

maggie666 Wed 10-Jul-13 07:15:03

Good morning everyone. Sorry I've been missing for the last week. Kind of fell off the wagon on the weekend and had a bbq... just ate the meat tho and no carbs. So hopefully no real damage done.
Im back on it and into ketosis as my mouth tastes like a badgers bum!
Scone hope your back is a bit better today. Enjoy your time off with the dh when he comes home. We will be hounding you in August to get back on it ( and keep us entertained with your posts).
Hi to all the newbies. I'm on week 3 after a 10lb loss on wk 1 and 2lb on wk 2. Trying not to have a sneaky weigh. Enjoy the sunshine today.x

Nornironmum Wed 10-Jul-13 07:36:49

Omg omg omg. Drank like 6 liters of water yesterday, weighed last night, scales still the same.
Weighed this morning and down 3.5 lb woo hoo.

laura4jasmine Wed 10-Jul-13 09:07:19

Morning!
Norn yeay keep going you will do this!!!!!

I had my 1st weigh-in this morning and I've lost 10lbs....wooohooo. I am just loving S&S packs, had the spag bol and truffa bar yesterday...mummmm would eat those even if I wasn't on a diet. Have just ordered a months supply as I feel so confident about this. Very happy day grin

Yay norn! You did it!

Laura 10lbs off is amazing! Well done.

Maggie - well done for limiting your blip. You are doing fab - just remember this is week 3 and don't get upset if the scale doesn't shift.

I have fallen head first into bad stuff, but I am not enjoying it. In fact ds offered me a biscuit this morning and I said no thanks! I am on big doses of all kinds of drugs inc. diazepam which is making me very very sleepy. Hopefully s few more days and I can come off them. I miss my shakes. yes I am a weirdo but the gp said I needed more calories while my back heals - she thinks I may have slipped a disc but it is so swollen she said she couldn't tell.

Right beck to bed for me, have a good day everyone!

Nornironmum Wed 10-Jul-13 13:03:28

I going to see colum wilkinson tonight in concert. He is the first love of my life! I really want to have a glass of wine, just one, but I don't want to come out of Ketosis.
Well done all on the losses. Poor you scone, nothing worse. Will your dh be home soon?

ChestyNut Wed 10-Jul-13 14:01:14

Hi all

Can I join?

I have a start date for LL at the end of July.

Strangely excited, got butterflies hmm

MyJellybean Wed 10-Jul-13 18:13:24

Well done Laura and Norn on your losses. Hi Chesty, do you have much to lose. Hope you're feeling better soon Scone.

ChestyNut Wed 10-Jul-13 18:40:30

Oh yes have loads to loose!

Around 8 stone blush

laura4jasmine Wed 10-Jul-13 19:41:41

Hello Chesty Big welcome! This is the best way to loose the kind of weight we need to, loads of luck smile
Scone sending loads of healing hugs, take care x

Been another good day even though I took all my kids and a friend out for lunch, felt very saintly with my iced water....things are achanging!!!!!!

smokinaces Wed 10-Jul-13 20:25:05

Oooh Colm Wilkinson - enjoy!!! Love his voice :-D

I'm around. I had a big fail this weekend - head first into ice cream, biscuits and a proper blow out of crisps and cake. So back on it, but hovering around the 10'6 mark - admit im doing two packs and two meals right now as so busy at work. Going to hit it head on three packs a day again when school breaks up in a fortnight. Till then am maintaining with a view to maybe losing a pound or two. To only be one pound up on last week after around 5000 calories and 500g of fat I've not done bad! Need to up the water and stop the diet coke too.

MyJellybean Wed 10-Jul-13 21:36:25

Won't take too long Chesty, I had 4st to lose and already lost 26lb in 8 weeks. I've not been totally on plan either as miss my evening meals so have been having meat and salad in evenings.

kateyjane Wed 10-Jul-13 21:58:20

Hi Chestynut,
Well done Nornironmum and Laura!
Poor you Scone - that sounds awful. I really hope you feel better soon.

I weighed in this morning and have lost 1 stone 1lb. I am happy, but can't help wanting it to go fast fast. I am a bit down today - very hard not to reach for my old comforts, going to try the praline bar now and hope that it is satisfying!

I am loving slim and save - glad I changed. Has anyone else on sns had the 200g veg, Harley's sugar free jelly and zero noodles? It says you can have them and I like the idea, but don't want to jeopardise anything. So far I have stuck rigidly to 4 packs. The last 2 days I have had 1 can of coke zero - which has been a real treat!

Hope everyone has a good day tomorrow.

Nornironmum Wed 10-Jul-13 23:52:23

Yes smoke just back, he was amazing.
I'm a massive les mis fan, but I have always loved him, I cried the whole way through, bought his cd too and will listen to it on loop. I think I was the youngest person there lol.
I made lasagne for dinner tonight, I love my own lasagne it was so hard not to eat it, and there is loads left, dripping I'm cheese in the fridge. But I didn't and won't touch it.
I am almost at target, so am def going to low carb, forever now to maintain, after my hols, so no more lasagne for me. Unless someone has a low carb recipe?

I used to make low carb pancakes for the layers if that helps norn?

Lauren1204 Thu 11-Jul-13 10:59:55

Hi everyone, I've been AWOL for a few days smile

Had a bit of a blip yesterday, I was craving rice so much and I had some, I wasn't even hungry and kicking myself now! But onwards and upwards!! I'm sure it will take me out of ketosis but I am not feeling that yet.

On a positive note I weighed this morning and have lost 9lb so far - its official weigh in tomorrow with counsellor, I'm 2lb off the next stone bracket so fingers crossed I might get there by tomorrow!!

Welcome to all the newbies smile

Lauren x

sammac Thu 11-Jul-13 18:34:16

Good to read the successes that are continuing. Back from holidays and into it today completely. I had about 4 days when I had real food at dinner, including bbq and risotto. Haven't weighed myself and am hoping that the rest of the time and the next couple of days will counteract that. Today is officially day 100. I can't believe that I got there.

I found a copy of Pauline Quirke's book in a charity shop and read that to keep inspiring me. She lost about 8 stone with Lighter Life a couple of years ago. It was interesting to read her thoughts along the way. She was sponsored by them to do it.

Scone, hope you're doing ok and are all ready for dh coming home.

smokinaces Thu 11-Jul-13 19:48:33

Nor, I go see les mis in six weeks. Super excited :-D

Google hairy bikers healthy lasagne recipe - they used unrolled leeks as layers and it went down really well :-)

I am still on my two packs and two meals. Around the 10'6/10'7 mark. Happy in my clothes though. Going to do another order of bars and shakes to gete through next fortnight at work then will go through the meal packs I have. Will hit it head on from august, want to shift this last half stone to ten pounds, but work just too hard to do at the moment on just a pack and I need my evening meal. Going all very low carb though :-D

MrsPnut Fri 12-Jul-13 12:13:57

I have started today and I am sitting in my office and can smell what people are having for lunch.

I've drunk 2l of water already and had a bar (at about 11am), I do know that once ketosis kicks in then I will be fine but until then I am starving.
It doesn't help that I usually trough my way through the day at work and I am hungover because I went out last night.
I have got a mix of exante and S&S packs and am going to do 4 a day to begin with until I decide which I like best.

Lauren1204 Fri 12-Jul-13 12:36:09

Had my first weigh in today on Cambridge diet. I've lost 11lb and 10 inches! I am thrilled. Its getting much easier now I know which products I like and i'm starting the bars next week which I am looking forward to!

How is everyone else getting on?

PutThatDownNow Fri 12-Jul-13 14:40:24

Hi Everyone, mind if I join you?

Have been messing around with Cambridge for a while now, starting every morning with good intentions but losing the plot in the evening. Really need to knuckle down now though and am feeling a bit more positive today.

I know it can work as had huge success about 3 years back just need to get my focus back.

So today is the day I will start to crack it. Maybe.

sammac Fri 12-Jul-13 15:44:30

Great loss Lauren, that'll keep you going. 10 inches is brilliant!!

MyJellybean Fri 12-Jul-13 21:17:19

MrsPnut I'm glad to see someone else mixing Exante and S&S. I'm finding things a lot easier this way. I'm also having a salad each evening at mo as too hot for the S&S meals and I can't face a day of just a bar and shakes.

Well done Lauren and welcome PutThatDownNow.

Looking forward to weigh in on Monday as feel I have done well this week, also to find out if I managed to lose 2st in 2months.

MrsPnut Sat 13-Jul-13 08:19:22

I tried the cottage pie last night and couldn't finish it because it tasted so disgusting. I shall try some of the others though.
I also made the Thai soup into crisps and nibbled on them during the evening. I am feeling ok right now after a good nights sleep and I am about to have my first coffee of the day.

I hope you have hit your 2 stone target, it'll be a nice boost.

Morning! Dh had been home for twenty four hours so the novelty has now worn off wink

As has my desire to eat crap. Not sure I will manage three whole weeks off plan! Anyway, it is a beautiful day.

Good luck Jelly, you must be feeling terrific.
And Lauren 11pounds getouttahere! That is an amazing loss!
Smokin' - that is the spirit, keep on keepin on.
Sammac you are such an inspiration, 100 days and so motivated.

Welcome MrsP - there were days in the early days when I would just ditch a meal and have a shake instead. I am Not massively keen on the cottage pie, anything 'crispy' or the original oatmeal, but we are all different!

PutThatDown (great name!) come on in. If you find that you are failing in the evening, why not start in the evening. Eat normally during the day, get to 4pm and decide to start from then and it might be easier. No one says you need to start a diet in the morning!

Have a great day everyone.

maggie666 Sat 13-Jul-13 10:20:12

Hi everyone.
Scone -that's good advice starting in the evening. How did dh react to the new you when he got home? How bout doing the 5:2 diet while he's home.
Well done Lauren that's a great weight loss. I'm also on Cambridge coming to the end of week 3. Next weigh day is Monday.
Jelly-fingers crossed for you for 2 stone. You've done
amazing in 8 weeks.
Ptdn - how did your first day go yesterday?
Well I went out yesterday as my friend is visiting from dubai I was super good and drank ice water all night. Never would have done that before this diet especially since we are such wine drinkers! Went out Ave managed to get up at 5am for the next sale! !! I'm looking forward to weigh day on Monday. I'm feeling very motivated this week. Want to loose a few stone before I start trying on wedding dresses! !!
Keep going everyone. Xxx

PutThatDownNow Sat 13-Jul-13 15:57:37

Thanks everyone, still going. 2 shakes and 2 litres of water down so far today.

Managed ok yesterday, a small blip yesterday evening but didn't get out of control. Am going to do a deal with my kids to get them to give up cheese for a while - it's my real weakness so if the house could be a cheese-free zone until I am well on my way that would help I think.

Scone's point about a diet not having to start in the morning is a very good one. I need to remember that I can get back on track any time of day and not throw the whole diet out if I slip up.

Well done for managing your night out Maggie, and the Next sale. You have a good motivation to keep going.

sammac Sun 14-Jul-13 09:12:27

.Oh Put that down, I love cheese too - there is one scrappy cheese slice and a block of parmesan in the fridge- it looks so bare without the selection which I normally have. I hovered around the cheese section in the supermarket till dh reminded me that I was the only one who actually ate it!!

Think I'm back in ketosis again, day 4 of strictness, mouth is minging. Scales show loss but I'll get officially weighed tomorrow .

Scone, how did your dh react when he saw you? Had you told him you were doing this?

Maggie, I did the Next sale online and got up at 6. After spending an hour achieving all ze bargains, the laptop decided not to play and I lost the lot!!! Perseverence is not an issue here, so made a cup of (peppermint) tea and started over, think I remembered everything. Ordered a mixture of size 14 and 12s ( fingers crossed) We're going away in October so the 12s should be okay by then- 14s are just about there grin

sammac Sun 14-Jul-13 09:13:36

Why when it's the holidays, am I up even earlier???

MrsPnut Sun 14-Jul-13 13:31:42

My mouth is minging too, I have looked all over for some breath spray and can't find any. I had three chews of a stick of chewing gum earlier but I hate chewing gum.

Yesterday I had a strawberry S&S shake at 11, an exante bar at 4 and 100g of chicken with 200g of salad (celery, cucumber, leaves and a few olives) for dinner with plenty of water.

Today I tried an exante banana shake (not as nice as the S&S one) and will have an exante bar later and the same dinner as last night.

antimatter Sun 14-Jul-13 15:59:01

I am quietly joining in. Went to Germany this week and got few boxes of Alamased which was recommended to my by my friend. She used it to kick off her diet and was very happy with how full she felt etc.
Unfortunately here a box os twice the price of that in DE - there 15 Euro - here 26 pounds for 500 g!!!
So I just started today with flaxeed added and some olive oil as recommended.
Flaxeed is my own choice as I used to use it in the past and somewhere on their forum got recommended as a good way of balancing ketonic bodies.
I shall get lemons tomorrow to start every morning with juice from 1/2 of lemon.

I've never had a go at liquid diet, but got to the point where I am nearly 15 st at 5'3'' and that is really what prompted me to take such drastic action.

I do hope to last and contribute to threads on here as I don't fancy being that heavy any longer smile

sammac Sun 14-Jul-13 19:01:22

Welcome antimatter. Never heard of Alamsed- is it a brand or something else?

MrsPnut Sun 14-Jul-13 19:36:37

Welcome antimatter.

I've just made a caramel shake into a latte - it was ok but I still have the horrible taste in my mouth and could do with drinking another litre of water before I go to bed.

PutThatDownNow Sun 14-Jul-13 19:55:02

Welcome antimatter, interested to hear more about Alamased.

I'm on track so far today, two shakes, one bar and a gallon of water and tea. DH is cooking up a storm in the kitchen but I will do my best to resist.

Sammac, glad it's not just me. Did a cheese-free shop today for DC's packed lunches this week.

Very impressed at all the early starts in the interests of the Next sale.

MyJellybean Sun 14-Jul-13 21:10:37

MrsPnut I like the curry meal, I put sliced mushrooms or a little meat in it and have it with cauliflower rice.

Welcome Antimatter.

I went to a 40th party last night and had just cucumber and tomatoe from the buffet. The best part though was seeing a picture of me at the party on Facebook today and NO double/triple chin. Chuffed to bits.

Had a meal at Beefeater today (chicken breast and ribs) requested salad instead of bottomless chips and it was delicious. Spent several hours weeding my garden today so hopefully that has burnt of the calories I've consumed today.

GOOD LUCK to all those with a weigh in tomoz.

MrsPnut Sun 14-Jul-13 21:20:35

I shall try that Jelly, tomorrow night I have some stir braised spring greens to have with a meal pack.

I am bloody starving tonight, and I know it's mind over matter but it's so distracting.

I have had 3.5l of water today at least and I shall have another glass to see if that helps. If not I will have a slice of ham before I go to bed.

antimatter Mon 15-Jul-13 09:57:10

thanks for a warm welcome smile

I went for Alamased as it is sugar/sweeter free & my friend said that she learned about it on german fora.
Taste is pleasant, Second shake I made with olive oil and flaxeed it then was surprisingly sweet.

I have enough for 2 weeks and will see how it goes.

Do people here use Slim Fast?
I only know that and Herbalife.
Is there anywhere comprehensive comparison of various formulae?

MyJellybean Mon 15-Jul-13 18:16:52

Mixed feelings on weigh in this evening. I needed to lose 2 1/4lb to give me a 2stone loss in 2months, I lost 2lb so was 1/4lb short. Gutted I didn't hit the 2 stone but chuffed with the 2lb off, especially after yesterday's lunch out and it is still 27 3/4 lb. hope everyone else on the Monday weigh in got off what they wanted wink

maggie666 Mon 15-Jul-13 20:28:51

Hi Jelly.... I'm right there with you. Weigh day today I wanted a 2lb loss to make it 1 stone in 3weeks. I managed 1.5 ( so close! !)... I'll make it next week.
I'm hoping it's water retention from all this heat.
How has everybody's loss gone this week?
Hi Antimatter... I'm on Cambridge diet the shakes taste really nice ( I'm not keen on the soups). Hope your first couple of days go well.

antimatter Mon 15-Jul-13 21:12:42

I am doing 2 shakes and one light meal in the evening - I work silly hours, getting up at 4:30, long commute both ways, long hours

I want to stop snacking forever and eat only when I am very hungry.

So far so goog, but haven't had chance to get a new scale yet for my local Argos.

PutThatDownNow Mon 15-Jul-13 21:19:05

Jellybean, Maggie those are impressive totals. Well done. As I'm still early days I really admire your staying power. First day back in the office today and feeling much hungrier than the weekend.

I had a good result tonight - 4 lb off which I am over the moon with as I have only been sticking to the plan since Fri. Very grateful for this thread which has helped to keep me motivated, knowing I had someone to report in to made a difference.

Antimatter, I'm on Cambridge same as Maggie. Also not keen on the soups but some of the shakes and bars are really nice. I like the tetra packs too as I can take them to work easily, or have one for breakfast on the tube when I don't have time for something before I leave the house.

sammac Mon 15-Jul-13 21:20:06

Back from weigh in and another 5 1/2 off - total of 54 1/2 in 3 1/2 months. Now 1 1/2 off the 4 stone mark. Next weigh day is Saturday, so should achieve it.

Today was a getting back to reality day after the holidays ( although I'm still on holiday for another 4 weeks- yahoo!!) Big shop, the a lot of making and cooking. Cupboards well stuffed with mars bars cakes, choc/orange cake and even some bread in the oven. Have made some yummy smelling ribs for everyone's tea tomorrow night- never made them from scratch before. I have an overwhelming urge to feed everyone as a compensation for me not eating however am not at all bothered about not eating it.

Keep going Maggie- it all adds up!

antimatter Mon 15-Jul-13 21:43:23

sammac - amazing weight lost by you, you must be very very proud of youself for being able to stick with it!

antimatter Mon 15-Jul-13 21:47:33

PutThatDownNow - I've never tried anything from Cambridge diet - I would need to look into soemthign else in about 2 weeks time

I drive to work arriving there at 6 am and as long as I stay away from the kitchen I am fine, we have sooo many snacks, crisps, also fruit, soft drinks etc - very, very tempting - but I decided - enough of my flab & I want to be able to do my mountain walking and some cycling and this time I will make sure I am back to where those are possible - i.e. at least 4 stones lighter smile

PutThatDownNow Mon 15-Jul-13 21:59:25

That sounds like a really long day antimatter. I know what you mean about the temptations at work, there's always lots of snacks around. And a massive tea round around 6 times a day. I've used the hot weather to explain my switch to black tea.

I've only really used Cambridge so can't compare it to anything else, am sure others will let you know their experiences. One of my sisters had success with Lighter Life but I was interested to read about some of the other options in this thread.

antimatter Mon 15-Jul-13 22:09:24

I am still on antibiotics for 3 more days so feel I need one meal a day apart from shakes.

I am really inspired by you guys sticking with it - read your old thread and everyone's so supportive!
I cook for my kids every day and that is very tempting smile I hope that once my sugar levels are stabilised I won't crave what I am cooking for them.

Most of that we crave is in our heads - it apparently takes 6 weeks to change old habit into new - only 39 days to go for me smile

MyJellybean Mon 15-Jul-13 22:17:09

Sammac that is a fab loss. How much more do you want to lose?

Well done Maggie, I've been losing between 1 1/4 and 2 3/4lb each week since week 3 so 2lb is about average for me.

Well done PutThatDownNow a good start and a great incentive to keep going.

Good luck to the rest of you on your weigh ins this week.

MrsPnut Tue 16-Jul-13 06:26:01

I haven't sneaked a look at the scales because WI will be Friday but I did measure myself last night and I've already lost 7" all over.

Last night's dinner was bacon medallions chopped and dry fried with mushrooms. Add some mustard seeds and then some spring greens and turn them over to wilt a little. Then add a small amount of water and a lid to completely cook the greens.
It was very yummy and not many calories.

smokinaces Tue 16-Jul-13 07:00:11

Well done guys!! I'm back on it, and have managed a small drop -10'4 this morning so 12lb. That weekend blow out screwed me up for over a week! That'll teach me!!

2lb target this next week to get my stone. Still not bad as im not calorie counting alongside my packs and eating a lot of red meat and olives and cheese :-D

laura4jasmine Tue 16-Jul-13 07:09:43

Wow you are all doing amazing! [smokin] fab loss, you can do this! I'm still going, but have had a couple of evenings where I thought I would give in. Been a tough week with family issues so quietly proud that I haven't give in. My weigh-in is tom - don't know what to expect, but really want it to be good.
Hope you are all doing good smile

MyJellybean Tue 16-Jul-13 18:09:53

How much you got to lose Smokin? I'm currently 10st 11 3/4lb and at 5'2" I'm still overweight so looking at another 1.5st

sammac Tue 16-Jul-13 18:44:15

So today saw my mum take me and ds to Frankie and Benny's, where they proceeded to wolf down a pizza each... whilst I had black coffee- at least it's free refills. Then to a friend's for ....more black coffee. Luckily she's doing the 5:2 diet and it was one of her days Last time she saw me was on day 5 when we were out for posh meal and almost 4 stone ago!! Bless, she's deliberately not arranged our normal night outs, consisting of lots of food and something called wine? Provisionally arranged night for September - provisionally based on me in size 12 jeans. Tried on my 14 jeans today and fitted( snugly) but still!!!

All this gallivanting meant I never got lunch till 10 to 6. But means I still have 2 to go - a feast tonight smile

antimatter Tue 16-Jul-13 18:51:38

sammac - size 14 jeans are worth all the hard work smile

I am size 20 and can't remember when was the last time I could squeeze into 18, let alone 14!
(14 was I think when I was pg with my dd over 16 years ago smile )

smokinaces Tue 16-Jul-13 19:33:19

Sammac, the sizes are what spur me on. Got loads of comments Sunday and I was wearing new look skinny size ten cropped jeans!! Still need to do my belly though.

Jellybean, im 5ft 4.5 so im now in my bmi by four pounds. I'm aiming to get to under ten stone. Would like to get down to about 9st 10 but with water weight coming back on that would leave me just shy of 10'. I am happier with my face now, and my general shape - its my belly that I was to try and shift an extra few pounds off.

antimatter Tue 16-Jul-13 21:38:46

I agree smokinaces - it's size that matters more than pounds.

I collected my scale and..... lost 7.5lb since last Thursday!
I need to keep the momentum going. To get to size 12 I need to loose another 66 pounds - and that's assuming that some of it will remain muscles smile

As this is my new routine I forgot my shake to work today, but one of my friends shared her Herbalife stuff with me and then I had to go for lunch as we were interviewing someone. I was going for some soup anyway and was lucky - they had cold soup made of yoghurt and melon with basil garnish.
I am sure it was fairly low cal. I got home and was in a bit of pain from my small op I had last week so really didn't feel like eating anything. I was just shopping in Sainsbo and was very proud of myself as didn't buy anything for myself but fresh soups for freezer (in case I feel like proper food one of those days).

MyJellybean Tue 16-Jul-13 21:45:24

That's great Smokin. I'm happy in my clothes at mo but not out of them still. I'm gonna join the gym after my students have all gone in a couple of weeks on a trial one month membership and try to do a class per day each day for a month. Need to do some toning but I'm not a gym kind of person.

MyJellybean Wed 17-Jul-13 08:12:25

Has anyone used original Fybogel whilst in Ketosis? I know you can't have the orange or lemon one. blush

MrsPnut Wed 17-Jul-13 09:54:03

Not used it, but when I did LL we were recommended to use dulcolax as it was safe whilst in ketosis.

smokinaces Wed 17-Jul-13 13:31:17

I either have two very strong coffees (caffiene gets everything moving) or I take two of the Morrison own brand laxative tablets if its really bad. Neither take me out of ketosis.

Official weight in day tomorrow. I can't remember what day I started so think tomorrow is weigh in five? (11'2, 10'9, 10'5, 10'5 so yes must be week five)

Hoping for a couple of pounds :-D

Nornironmum Wed 17-Jul-13 15:22:00

Hello all, everyone is doing so well. I have one week left to my holidays and 4lb I would like to loose. Not sure if I will do it, I am having one no carb meal per day and 2 shakes now.
I have lots left over so back on it for a week or so after hols, then on to maintainence which I think will prob be low carbing for life really or maybe 2 days a week of Cambridge. Any one have any experience of either?

smokinaces Wed 17-Jul-13 16:14:51

Nor, I did Cambridge eighteen months ago and lost 3.5 stone. I kept it nearly all off by low carving after. So I haven't eaten bread or pasta or rice etc regularly since the end of 2011. And its a way of life now.

Cambridge is good if you need a consultant. If you can go alone, slim and save is fab for products and price.

Good luck on the 4lb :-D

smokinaces Wed 17-Jul-13 16:16:07

I know several people do the 5:2 to maintain - two days on plan and then five low carb. Seems to work. Cambridge im not sure would be most cost efficient for this though.

MyJellybean Wed 17-Jul-13 18:20:32

Thanks mrsPnut and Smokin. I gave in and had a Fybogel this morning as S&S said original is fine. Good luck with tomorrow's weigh in.

Nornironmum Wed 17-Jul-13 18:29:16

Thanks smokin, yes it would cost me £12 a week to do 5 off Cambridge and 2 on, but I would happily pay it if it worked and also low carbed most of the time:
A small price to pay I think, but I wonder if it works? How are you all planning to maintain your losses after vlcd?

smokinaces Wed 17-Jul-13 19:45:18

I'm planning on low carb food, but I admit I struggle with snacks and breakfast. So might stick with a shake every morning, and have a handful of bars around for emergencies.

smokinaces Wed 17-Jul-13 19:47:44

Winter isn't so bad as I have scrambled eggs for breakfast, but summer is urgh for hot food!!

antimatter Wed 17-Jul-13 20:22:06

I think ultimately is about how many calories you eat in any given week.
If Cambridge for 2 days is easier for you to to carry on with - why not?

I think by the time you are on maintenance you are going to crave less carb food.

5:2 has a lot of health benefits - if you going to have 500 cal via shakes or smaller portions of food I believe it will work out in the the same.

maggie666 Thu 18-Jul-13 08:09:54

Hi everyone. I'm feeling a little frustrated today. I'm on week 4 and I've lost my mojo. Need to get through it this week and get my motivation back. And to stop eating some of my dd food when i cook for her. Gotta keep telling myself why I'm doing this! ( wedding in February). Just coming on this thread is helping.
Good luck with your weigh in today smokin.

sammac Thu 18-Jul-13 11:14:57

Maggie, think how well you've done till now- you are determined and don't want to put that good work to waste. How much have you lost in the last few weeks - then think where you could be in another 4 or 8 weeks. This is not forever but a little part of hard work to get you/ us feeling and looking better. Come on here and read how well everyone has done so far- yet no-one is there yet. Yes, it's hard at times, but February is a huge goal to aim for.

Big calorie free hug x

smokinaces Thu 18-Jul-13 20:19:01

Maggie, four weeks is ace. What are you really craving? Would it help to have one night off it, having what you want, and then jumping back on it the next day? It stalls for a week then, but I did it a fortnight ago and it really helped with the cravings.

I weighed in and hovered. Must be 10'3.5 as it flittered between 10'3 and 10'4. I'm getting so close to the 10 stone mark.

Made a cock up tomorrow though. Forgot id promised the kids dinner out with my mum and I've arranged someone over for dinner as well!! So three salads for me tomorrow - small one for lunch, small one around 4 with the kids and another one with friend at around 9. Hoping no carbs and lots of water helps!! Debating whether to skip my shake tomorrow morning and have a bar around 10am instead too. Then three meals and one pack in total across the day, instead of three packs and one meal.

MrsPnut Fri 19-Jul-13 07:10:19

End of the first week and I've lost 9lb. Still a very long way to go but because I am doing a mish mash of diets to suit me, I think it's a long term thing.

MrsPnut Fri 19-Jul-13 07:13:47

Well done on the loss smokin, and lots of protein and low carb should be fine.

I am having either an exante bar, a s&s shake, a protein and veg meal and a protein snack or an exante bar, exante shake and a protein and veg meal. I am logging it on MFP and staying under 70g of Carbs a day and around 600-750 cals

smokinaces Fri 19-Jul-13 10:22:30

Well done mrspnut fab loss!! Finding something that suits you and works is key

Well I forgot my breakfast and lunch!! So had two babybells and got a bar luckily for lunch. Then the two dinners tonight. Doh!

But scales this morning said 10'3 - 1lb off the stone mark. And seeing people this weekend who haven't seen me in over a month, so having dropped a dress size it should be noticeable. Whoop!)

PutThatDownNow Fri 19-Jul-13 10:27:54

Well done smokin, and MrsPnut that's a great result for the first week.

Firmly in ketosis but still finding it difficult not to nibble. I think I am bored more than anything else. Seeing you all do so well is inspiring for me, or at least a glimmer of hope that I can keep going too.

How did you get on in the end yesterday Maggie? Hope you got your mojo back.

sammac Fri 19-Jul-13 10:29:24

Well done mrspnut and smokin -woohoo!!

maggie666 Fri 19-Jul-13 11:29:54

Hi all.
Feeling a lot better today. Thanks for the pep talk think i needed it. Got on scales today and not lost anything so far. But official weigh day is Monday si plenty of time. I'm back to being focussed today. I go back to work
Soon after being on maternity leave for 11 months. Really want to be in the 13 stone bracket ( even 13s13.5 will do. lol) so I've got to go for it.
Well done on the weight loss smokin. Hope everyone is doing great. Xxx

MyJellybean Sat 20-Jul-13 13:23:53

Well done MrsPnut and Smokin on weight loses. What is MFP?

I plan to join a local gym next Friday as they have a one month trial membership so no 1 year tie in. I'm hoping that it will help with the next 1 stone loss or at least help to tone up some of the 2 stone already lost.

Is anyone else exercising? I'm going to use the classes for variety as I find the gym so boring.

sammac Sat 20-Jul-13 21:43:43

Today's weigh in saw another 4lbs off and broke the 4 stone barrier. Yeah. And that was since Monday, so was more than delighted. Total 4 st 2 1/2 lbs, not even 4 months. And saw my bf, who hadn't seen since I started and she was very complimentary, even used the word 'trim' lol. Didn't expect so much, think it must be the gallons of water being drunk in this heat. And my bmi down to only overweight

sammac Sat 20-Jul-13 21:46:00

Looked at gym yesterday after swim, and thinking seriously about joining now. Unlimited classes gym and swims for 36 a month- is this the going rate??

PutThatDownNow Sun 21-Jul-13 07:57:32

sammac that's brilliant, congratulations. 4 stone is fantastic. So is the BMI shift. I dream of just being 'overweight' grin.

All going ok here, I am still bored. My birthday weekend and I watched family enjoy a rather fabulous looking cake yesterday without having any. <v proud>

Have a business trip overseas Mon and Tues though so am a bit wary of that. I will take shakes and bars and have managed so far to avoid making any dinner arrangements with anyone so hopefully will be able to stay on plan. Will have to play it by ear a bit though and try to limit the damage.

sammac Sun 21-Jul-13 08:11:36

A birthday and you stuck to it!! You are strong. With this attitude a couple of days away will be a doddle!! You're already planning what to do about it and that's half the battle smile

MrsPnut Sun 21-Jul-13 20:49:24

MFP is my fitness pal, useful for logging food intake.

MyJellybean Sun 21-Jul-13 21:15:01

Well done Sammac on the weight loss. £36 per month is pretty good. Freedom Leisure is £39 and that's the cheapest near me.

Well done with the birthday restraint. Mines in September and I'm already thinking of coming of plan for a couple of weeks at that time.

kateyjane Sun 21-Jul-13 22:28:15

Well, had got to 1 stone 7 off, but not sure what will happen this week, as well and truly fell off the wagon this weekend. Just going to put it down to experience and start again tomorrow! My husband was away and I just lost it sad, but I figure as long as I keep going it will be okay. There will be occasions, special meals etc when I want to be 'normal'.

Well done sammac, mrspnut and smokin - putthatdown - you are a better woman than I! It was my MIL's cake that caused my downfall!

Good luck to everyone for this week.

smokinaces Mon 22-Jul-13 19:10:41

Well done sammac!!

I got an off the peg asda multiway bra today in a 34d. And it fits. I was a gigantic h cup, so this is good! Never worn multiway so excited.

Downside to weight loss, went and bought a lovely dress for a party Saturday. Have never even been smaller than a size 14 from next, even at my smallest last year. Bought a 14. Got it home. Its bloody too big. So got to go Thursday and hope they have it in a 12 and I can do it up!!

MyJellybean Mon 22-Jul-13 19:32:47

Week 10 = 2 3/4lb loss.
Total loss 30 1/2lb,
that means 19 1/2lb to go.
Weight today 10st 9lb.

smokinaces Mon 22-Jul-13 19:44:57

Go jellybean!!

maggie666 Mon 22-Jul-13 22:06:31

Well done with the weight loss sammac and jellybean.
Smokin - how chuffed would I be getting into a size 12. Yey go you. X

Jelly - I'm doing exercise as I was already doing it before starting Cambridge diet. I only do 1 hour of a toning class but I don't see there being a problem. The price seems very reasonable too.

Hope everyone else has had a good low carb day. X

sammac Tue 23-Jul-13 09:58:03

I've just opened a s&s parcel, but am not switching from LL just yet!

Dd has decided that she wants to lose about a stone and has ordered 2 weeks supply. She's a size 12 and just weighed in at 11 1/2 stone at 5'7 ( the same as me) The packs look like the LL- she's just made the porridge- which looks identical.

I ordered the water flavourings at 3 for £10. At LL they're 10.50 each! Made up a mixed fruit bottle and a cola bottle and they're fine. Treated myself to the wine flavour too!

I've listened to what you've all said about s&s, and it is hugely cheaper, but I'm going to continue to my goal with LL, then switch to a maintenance plan using S&S. also it come to your door rather having to drive for 35 mins each way.

Good luck to my dd!

ps the porridge isn't as sweet as my one - her quote- like cardboard!

Nornironmum Tue 23-Jul-13 11:58:16

Hi all. Well done on the losses. I started Cambridge on the 17th of June. I hit my target today with 2 days left to my holiday.
Weight at at start 12.13
Weight today
10.13.
I am 5.5 and curvy so am happy with this weight it's my wedding and before kids weight and leaves me mostly a size 10, sometimes a 12. I am very nervous about my holiday and will def stick to low carb, how much weight do you think I will put on?

sammac Tue 23-Jul-13 14:00:25

Well done nonironmum, inspiring!!

You automatically put back about 4lbs of glycogen, it says in all the info, so don't worry about that. If you are careful, you shouldn't put on much at all. Relax and enjoy- where you off to?

Nornironmum Tue 23-Jul-13 15:26:03

Spain, we go every year. Mummy has a house in. Murcia so we get to use it and only pay for flights.
I know about the gylocen but I really am going to try to not have carbs as much as possible, and drink my water and stick to vodka soda water and fresh lime, (though I won't be able to resist wine)
Back on soule source plus for a week when I get back or however long if takes.

smokinaces Tue 23-Jul-13 17:52:19

Well done on the two Stone! Have a great holiday - with mediterrean diet of fish, meat, vegetables and salad you should be fine. Avoid processed food, bread and pasta and you shouldn't put much back on.

MyJellybean Tue 23-Jul-13 18:42:36

Well done Norn. Have a fab holiday.

MrsPnut Wed 24-Jul-13 06:36:36

Morning and well done on the losses everyone.
I spectacularly fell off the wagon yesterday, so today will be really rough but I am in my office by myself.

smokinaces Wed 24-Jul-13 16:47:52

I was bought a box of my favourite Lindt lindor chocolates as a thankyou/have a good summer gift. They are in the fridge to feed the kids. So hard to resist. I will though

Cinema for first day of holidays tomorrow. Boys will have popcorn and sweets. I will take a s&s bar and a bottle of diet Pepsi. And not pick goddamnit!!!

Mrspnut, one day is fine. Everyone has a wagon day every now and then. Hope you've had an ok day.

MrsPnut Wed 24-Jul-13 18:03:08

Thanks Smokin, today hasn't been too bad. Had a bar at lunchtime and mushroom stir fry with chicken for dinner with a babybel light for a snack.

Got to go out to meeting in a minute, so will be distracted most of the evening.

PutThatDownNow Wed 24-Jul-13 21:38:24

Hi all. Congrats on the great losses everyone. Well done on hitting your target Norniron.

Hope you get back on track MrsPnut.

I am most fed up this evening - have been sole source for a week an a half now. Weighed last Mon and had lost 4lb. Weighed today and I have lost ....nothing. And that's after not eating my own birthday cake and sticking to plan despite overseas trip this week. But I have been using ketostix which show I am in ketosis so guess I will try to keep up the momentum and hope the scales magically budge next week.

smokinaces Wed 24-Jul-13 22:01:31

Putthatdown, its most likely the weather. Try just one or two extra glasses of water a day and you'll no doubt see a shift. I've sts this week I think, and its lack of fluid. Keep at it, it is worth it long term. The second and third weeks are notourius at bad losses.

PutThatDownNow Thu 25-Jul-13 00:12:04

Thanks smokin. I will keep at it, just very disheartening.

sammac Thu 25-Jul-13 19:42:16

I've joined the gym!! And booked to go to class tomorrow morning. And swam about 12 lengths. This is not me - I am morphing into someone with energy and motivation!!

I spent a while browsing this morning in River Island and Wallis, looking through the size 12s and 14s.
That felt pretty good!

perrymanku Thu 25-Jul-13 23:56:18

Has anyone tried the medically assisted Pronokal programme, one that GPs recommend?

MrsPnut Fri 26-Jul-13 07:02:18

No, sorry Perry.
That's great Sam, I should go to our gym more often. I used to go three times a week but we changed gyms and I don't like this one as much.

MrsPnut Fri 26-Jul-13 07:03:28

Forgot to say, WI today and I STS. I am quite pleased with this after the week I've had. I shall regroup and try to do it properly this week.

sammac Fri 26-Jul-13 09:09:45

ONwards and downwards Mrspnut, sometimes we just have to succumb!

smokinaces Fri 26-Jul-13 14:07:45

Well done mrsp, a sts is meaning you're maintaining your loss :-D

sammac, well done on the gym! I would love to, but time and childcare are against me.

I am shattered. Too little sleep!!

sammac Fri 26-Jul-13 16:27:24

Luckily ds is 11 and he can now go swimming at same time. With his pal- I'm onto a winner ( and booked 2 classes tomorrow!!) Didn't look like a lard bucket in class- the wonders of lycra!!

PutThatDownNow Fri 26-Jul-13 20:35:30

Well done Sammac, I keep promising myself I will find some time to fit some swimming in.

Good luck this week MrsP. I have stuck at it but bored and fed up. hopefully a loss at WI on Mon will cheer me up.

smokinaces Fri 26-Jul-13 21:30:18

I was 10st 2 this morning, so have hit my stone mark. Am having a big weekend though, so 4lb will no doubt have come back on by Monday. Am knocking myself out of ketosis tomorrow, simply as I want alcohol and dont want to be dangerous. And then lots of gin. But after that straight back on it - Harvesters Sunday lunch, so will do steak and salad or chicken and salad. Have ordered another fortnights worth of bars and breakfasts too, seem to have happily gone into a 2/3 packs a day and 2 meals a day.

sammac Sat 27-Jul-13 17:04:19

Today's WI was another 3 lbs off, total 61 1/2. Followed immediately by 2 classes - I am so determined to not only lose weight but be toned. A CXWORX for tummy tightening, followed by BodyCombat. Felt so unco-ordinated at the combat class, a lot of punching and kicking and sweating but I can feel my side muscles, whatever the are called aching!!

Gym intro tomorrow where they test my fitnessblush not looking forward to that

MyJellybean Sun 28-Jul-13 21:58:26

My dd is also 11, she has 2 hours of clubs each evening Mon to Fri and 4 hours on Sat. I intend to do classes during these times. Going to join next week as she is at PGL this week so I'm sticking to 2hr walks with the dog this week. WI tomoz and hoping for a 2lb loss.

MyJellybean Tue 30-Jul-13 21:00:46

Weigh in yesterday.
Week 11 = 3lb loss
Total loss = 33 1/2lb
Current weight 10st 6 1/2lb

sammac Tue 30-Jul-13 21:17:36

Well done . What's your target?

ChestyNut Wed 31-Jul-13 10:46:05

Today's the day!

First LL class tonight to pick up packs and start in the morning.

<nervous>

ChestyNut Wed 31-Jul-13 15:41:04

Anybody there?

<tumbleweed>

I feel strangely tearful about starting hmm

MyJellybean Wed 31-Jul-13 17:49:06

Chestynut, tumbleweed was exactly what l thought on Monday.

Sammac, l wanted to be 9st something, but have decided a 50lb loss sounds good. I was 12st 9lb so a 3st 8lb loss will take me to 9st 1lb then there's the approx 4lb gain when I come off so that will be a nice 9st 5lb for my almost 5'2" height. Although I've not been under 9st 10lb since my 20s and I'm now early 40s.

MyJellybean Wed 31-Jul-13 17:50:52

Chestynut, don't be tearful. I was sceptical but excited and l remain excited for every weigh in. First couple of days are tough but just keep your hands busy and avoid kitchens and shops.

ChestyNut Wed 31-Jul-13 20:36:44

I think it's just the overwhelmingness of committing to this.

And it's a huuuuuge mountain I have to climb.

Ready for the ketosis headache.

PutThatDownNow Wed 31-Jul-13 21:23:51

Hi everyone. Have been laying low as not feeling great (not diet related). Weigh in yesterday though and 4lb off ,so a total of 8lb in just under 3 weeks. Feels slow compared to amazing results for some of you but at least it's all going in the right direction.

I hope your first session went well ChestyNut. One day at a time, you don't have to look at the huge mountain, any loss is a loss smile

antimatter Thu 01-Aug-13 16:35:38

I went quiet too as due to stress at work I stopped for 10 days. But I am back and altogether lost so far 10 pounds in just over 3 weeks.

ChestyNut Thu 01-Aug-13 22:32:18

Phew had a panic then, couldn't find the thread!

Day 1 over smile

smokinaces Fri 02-Aug-13 12:14:29

I'm here :-D had an almighty wagon day or two last weekend. Eton mess, birthday cake, crisps, ice cream. Gin. Wine. Champagne. Bacon butties.

But I had a sts this week. Still at 10'2. So am happy that I can enjoy a proper blow out weekend just once in a while, scoot my arse straight back onto it and not gain weight.

Am on 2 packs a day and two meals at the minute. Porrdige or shake in the morning, and a bar at lunch with a couple of salads. Seems to be working at maintaining. I want to so that last half a stone but struggling to motivate myself. One day ill go back to three or four packs!!

PutThatDownNow Fri 02-Aug-13 12:27:52

Well done antimatter and smoking. How was day one Chesty? It does get easier.

Am visiting family this weekend but have made contingency plans and taking shakes with me so hopefully I can stay on track.

sammac Fri 02-Aug-13 18:19:52

Welcome Chestynut, I am on LL too. I started on the Wed and had the headache on the Friday and nothing else since. Hopefully you're over the worst of it!

Myjelly 9.5 is amazing (dreams......) I've still not totally decided mine- will continue for August and see where my BMI is. I can actually get my size 12 jeans on and zipped, though they are too tight to go out in - but it's a start.

I was at a night out during the week with old friends and my ego was well boosted with the lovely compliments. I treated myself to a new pair of....skinny jeans, which just slipped on easily- size 14s. That felt good - and I have to continue that.

Smokin, the right time will happen - the summer holidays are difficult when everyone is out of routines, it's hot (hopefully) and bbqs, ice creams, and wines are plentiful.

Weigh day tomorrow- I so want to get over the 4 1/2 stone mark- 63 lbs, fingers crossed.

Wowserz129 Fri 02-Aug-13 18:27:30

After low carbing for some time and losing 7lbs over 4 weeks I am back on slim and save.

Don't think I will get anywhere need to be by my America trip so I am back here grin

I am on day 3 and its worrying me that I have felt totally fine. Last time first 3/4 days were awful.

glendatheveryexcitedwitch Fri 02-Aug-13 18:51:03

Hi can I join you?

First day of Cambridge today and I'm not hungry but cannot stop thinking of food - all kinds of food - food I'm not even keen on!! Totally psychological warfare going on lol!!!

I weighed in last night as 22st 6lb so a loooooooot to lose to achieve an ideal bmi of 25 so gonna do it stone by stone.

Did the Cambridge diet 3 years ago for 3 mths and lost 2 stone - I need big losses to motivate me.

I've just started my degree (midwifery) and am struggling with getting up and down off the floor, running to emergencies etc.. I suffer from really bad headaches, backache and dodgy knees so I really must succeed this time!!

Fingers x'd we can all get to where we want to be!!!!

PutThatDownNow Sat 03-Aug-13 08:10:26

Hi Glenda and Wowserz. Well done on making a start, once you are past the first few days it will get easier.

wowserz - am sure it's working, even better if it's fairly painless!

Did some quick shopping last night and was down a size. That's only 24/26 to 20/22 but it's the right direction and a boost to have the changing room assistant tell me I need the smaller size. A long way until skinny jeans for me sammac envysmile

ChestyNut Sat 03-Aug-13 10:08:48

Hi

Can anyone help? I can't see the thread when I come into the topic or on convos I'm on? Having to google it.

What have I done? hmm

sammac that's a great loss, how long has it taken?

All ok here, have had a headache since day 2 and not sleeping well, seems to be making my RLS rear it's head sad

glenda and putthat I'm around the same size as you. Seems like such a long way to go but trying to think one day at a time.

I know exactly what you mean glenda I work in healthcare too and being this overweight is affecting me hugely at work sad

antimatter Sat 03-Aug-13 12:10:24

I already feel the difference I was 15st5 and now I am 14st9 and height 5'3'' - so lost just over 10 pounds.

What helped is that I told my kids and my friends at work this time - I feel ashamed to snack now as I feel at last I acknowledged weight to be my problem.

I really want to succeed this time as I feel I have been not doing stuff I really liked in the past (mountain walking, salsa/ceroc dancing and cycling) due to weight and being unfit and that makes me a bit sad for lost opportunities - I don't want to feel the same next year and year after.
Also the idea of inflicting some horrible illness onto myself by being obese also worried me enough to start doing something about it.
It is hard to keep at it, but I come back to this thread and see that others succeeded and it makes me hopeful that I will get there as well.
I think it's important to know that every one of us has days we have meals - not just replacement drinks all day. One meal or sandwich won't make us fail, but not stopping after one day may make it harder to motivate ourselves again.

ChestyNut Sat 03-Aug-13 14:08:12

I haven't told anyone apart from my BF as don't want people's negative thoughts setting me off.

Everyone's always got an opinion hmm

Just walked Chestydog.

MyJellybean Sat 03-Aug-13 22:36:06

I didn't tell anyone until they asked how I'd lost so much weight so quickly. Now 2 of those people have also taken it on. I went to a BBQ this evening and was talking to a lady who lost 10stone in one year with LL 7 Years ago and she is still at target. She said when's he goes up to a certain weight she just does a couple of weeks back on plan and its gone. It was good to hear someone has found it easy to stay at target for so long.

antimatter Sun 04-Aug-13 00:24:18

thanks for sharing that story MyJellybean

I believe in not so recent past (I would say my GP's generation) many people were underfed and living on very few calories, esp. winter/spring on farms, they had no choice when food run down!
In a way us overeating is response to that fear of hunger

sammac Sun 04-Aug-13 00:26:50

Today has not been a goood day!

sammac Sun 04-Aug-13 00:34:03

I needed 1 1/2 lbs to get to 4 1/2 stone, and for he first time since starting, I only lost one miserable pound!!

Despite going to 3 classes, 2 gym sessions and 2 swims. I felt very down - I had a psychological build up to getting to it today. The leader obviously saw how disappointed I was and calculated my average weekly loss to show that I had lost way above the average week on week.

Anyway, tonight at ds's football presentation night, I could easily have gone to wine... but I boringly had my water. However, I did succumb to the buffet. I licked the tuna out of a sandwich, ate the sausage from a sausage roll, had 2 bites of pizza and probably the equivalent of a packet of crisps. And I've just had a sneaky chocolate biscuit. I feel better and will get straight onto it tomorrow. Obviously out of ketosis, but I think I just needed that.

Confession time over. It's done and dusted- next week is beckoning.

sammac Sun 04-Aug-13 00:34:50

And 3 mini samosas blush

ChestyNut Sun 04-Aug-13 10:15:17

Is anyone else finding their sleeps affected?

So restless sad

antimatter Sun 04-Aug-13 12:35:04

I think my sleep might have been affected. Ketosis makes my muscles ache. I started taking Magnesium Citrate from Solgar,
I am adding oil & milled flaxeed to my shakes as well.

ChestyNut Sun 04-Aug-13 13:34:40

I already take a magnesium supplement for RLS. Hope it settles down?

Oh my just found what looks like a hole in my tooth too.

<freaks out>

MsJupiterJones Sun 04-Aug-13 16:44:23

Hi there, well done to all of you weightlosers!

I did LL Total several years ago and lost 6.5stone, really enjoyed it as I have had such a difficult relationship with food and felt like I reset that.

Since having my baby I've put a load of weight on and thinking about returning to do Lite. However Cambridge is cheaper. Does anyone have experience of both to compare?

MyJellybean Sun 04-Aug-13 16:48:02

The gym may have affected your weight loss Sammac as you may have made muscle which is smaller than fat but does weigh more. I know when l did SW diet the wks l went to the gym more than twice l gained or sts.

unclehairysgirlfriend Mon 05-Aug-13 09:15:19

So glad I found this thread, can I join in? I just ordered a starter pack from Exante so will hopefully be starting tomorrow or Wednesday. I lost almost 4 stone on Cambridge before I had DC2 but have put it all back on and now have 7 stone to lose blush

MyJellybean Mon 05-Aug-13 10:45:41

Hi uncle. I started with Exante but since using this thread I mix it with Slim & Save. I was just Exante for 3weeks and then added an evening meal during 4th week. I then found it difficult not having an evening meal. That's when I got a trial pack from S&S as they had meals you could have with veg. They also do great chocolate bars. I now have an Exante shake in morning, an Exante or S&S bar for lunch and then either meat/fish salad or S&S meal with veg in evening and I'm losing 2-3lb each week. I started at 12st 12lb and have weigh in tonight when I hope to be 10st 3lb, that's since 13 May. Hope this helps.

unclehairysgirlfriend Mon 05-Aug-13 11:52:23

Thanks MyJ, very helpful. Off to look at S&S now...

ChestyNut Mon 05-Aug-13 17:43:14

Gosh I'm angry today angry

Abstinence or just wankbadgers at work?

PutThatDownNow Mon 05-Aug-13 18:41:25

Evening everyone, welcome uncle.

Just had weigh in. One pound off this week so a total of 10lb. Still moving in the right direction but rather slowly for my liking. Have been sole source and drinking gallons of water. Am in ketosis so I guess the fat is going somewhere.

Chesty, I should think it's a bit of both.

MyJellybean Mon 05-Aug-13 21:44:56

End of week 12 and weigh in showed 3lb loss.
Total 36.5lb - current weight 10st 3.5lb

ChestyNut Tue 06-Aug-13 17:56:04

All ok?

Am trying to talk my self into the fact that the scampi cooking in the oven smells horrible and i wouldnt like it, oh no I wouldn't hmm

First weigh in tomorrow.

PutThatDownNow Tue 06-Aug-13 18:58:24

Well done MyJelly, good results and staying power!

Hope all goes well tomorrow Chesty. The scampi would be horrible, don't touch it. And would undo the good work of last few days. Be strong today and tomorrow you will get your reward!

MyJellybean Tue 06-Aug-13 19:23:06

Exercise has begun. Oh My Lord!!!!! First ever circuits class tonight. I'm booked in for Zumba and Pilates tomoz evening but don't yet think I'll be able to get outta bed let alone exercise. It's been a long time since I've done any exercise but now that I've lost over 36lb thought I'd better do some toning up ready for the final stone. X

Good luck everyone with weigh-ins this week, and Chesty - the swampy will taste horrid, really really yuk x

maggie666 Tue 06-Aug-13 21:22:59

Hi everyone.... sorry I have been MIA for a while. ... I have gone back to work after my maternity leave ended and it's been knackering! You are all doing so well. I should have read some posts to stay motivated. I have been low carbing but having a bit of food with my shakes. Weight loss had been slower but I don't feel deprived. I have lost a total of 16lb in 6 weeks. So I'm pleased with that. .... Only another 40 to go. Lol.x

ChestyNut Wed 07-Aug-13 20:53:48

Week one done and 10lbs gone smile

MyJellybean Wed 07-Aug-13 22:20:36

Well done Chesty, great result.
Well done Maggie, I had 3 weeks on plan and then had a week of evening meals, however I'm now in week 13 and still having an evening meal every day. I'm happy with the 2-3lb a week off. I've only had 2 weeks of less than 2lb off. 16lb in 2 weeks is good.

unclehairysgirlfriend Thu 08-Aug-13 07:45:14

Some great results on here, well done everyone. First day on Exante for me yesterday - really enjoyed the shakes but not quite so keen on the bar. Super busy day at work so that took my mind off eating and went to bed early before I had the chance to feel hungry. Up early this morning and a bit peckish, thumping headache so need to up the water intake. Feel so much less bloated already!

Wowserz129 Thu 08-Aug-13 08:16:38

First week done 9lbs off. Took a big dent out of the 3 stone I had to lose grin

Nornironmum Thu 08-Aug-13 19:33:19

Hi all, just back from hols after a 2 week break. Not sure how much I put on, will weigh in tomorrow but I imagine 7lb?
Anyhow back on Cambridge soule source tomorrow for at least a week to shift it, then will move on to maintainance maybe 2 days per week Cambridge, still not sure yet.
Was quiet good on hols but didn't drink hardly any water so I'm looking forward to getting back into it.
How you all doing?

MyJellybean Fri 09-Aug-13 09:02:36

Well done on weight loss Wowserz it's great to get that big loss in first week isn't it, such an incentive to continue.
Uncle, I struggled at first with the Exante bars, I found they left a sort of dusty/gritty feeling in your mouth but now they are fine. I do prefer the choc orange ones though. If you continue to struggle with the try the S&S bars they are more like a cake or choc bar and taste great, not as filling though.

sammac Fri 09-Aug-13 09:22:47

Glad to see the losses continue. I've been in a bit of a huff with myself at my rubbish loss of a pound last week so have been busy. I've done Pilates, gym, Bodypump and am just about to go to sh'bam( whatever that is!!) Back to work on Monday after the long summer holidays and want to look good! Scales this morning not down any but I'm being optimistic for WI tomorrow. And I've got a body balance class tonight. After not exercising for a long time I'm enjoying it and don't stand out in the class for being bigger/unfit/big tomato face.
My aim is healthy BMI and fitness (and a size 12!)

On a lighter note, I'd ordered size 14 black trousers for going back to work -and they're TOO BIG!! Too baggy round the tummy. Getting sent back. And I've started selling my old clothes on ebay.

Told you I've been busy smile

smokinaces Fri 09-Aug-13 11:30:18

I'm here, in the 9s at 9st 13 and happy. Tis my birthday weekend though, and weekend away so very few packs and lots of restaurant food. Eek.

MyJellybean Fri 09-Aug-13 22:42:55

Hi Sammac, like you I've been busy with the exercise this week, Tue - circuits, Wed - Zumba, Thursday - legs, bums n tums. Got Body Blitz tomoz and gym induction an hour later. I have been checking scales and since exercise started on Tue I've lost nothing. I will keep it up though as I do intend being fitter as well as thinner. I hadn't realised just how unfit I was though until I started the classes but I'm told they will get easier with time, not convinced at mo.

MyJellybean Fri 09-Aug-13 22:44:19

Well done Smokin that's great. I'm hoping to be in the 9s before I go away next weekend, need to lose 3lb though to get there.

sammac Fri 09-Aug-13 22:56:45

Well done jellybean. If you're like me, you've got aches and pains in all sorts of strange places. I've been told that they get easier too. I liked bodypump and have booked for next week and the same for the bodaybalance. The instructor welcomed me back and told me I've been absent for 3 years!! Nothing for the weekend but I'll go to the gym.

freckles21 Fri 09-Aug-13 23:26:13

Hello all
Again you all have inspired me to start again. Some truly amazing stories of loss and motivation. Plan was to return from 2 week holiday and get straight back on it, however that hasn't happened. And I have picked and eaten crap. I'm ordering my weeks supply on Monday and have a few packs left over from before holiday so I can start afresh on Monday.
Clothes were looking better on me before I went away, now they look tight. It's my birthday in 6vweeks so I would like to lose at least a stone and half.
To get into the 9's would be fab, that is a longer term goal though, need to focus on a week at a time, draw up my big spreadsheet again and get motivated.
Dreading seeing the damage I've done whilst being off plan on the scales. I am a little scared.
Hope you all have fab weekends and continue motivating and inspiring people to lose weight.
Xx

sammac Sat 10-Aug-13 13:52:10

Well today's WI was a loss of 1/2lb. However, I am now a round 4 1/2 stone lighter than 4 months ago and thinking positively about it. Apparently all to do with muscle building/ body will adjust/drink more water. Last week I was disappointed but am finethis week strangely.

I am now missing food and eating so I made myself a crusty sandwich and enjoyed it. Nibbled some cheese ( and spat it out) and feel ready to move on. I have a big night tonight, but will drive and drink water whils everyone else gets merry. It's only a moment in time. Repeat size 12 12 12 12 12......

MyJellybean Sat 10-Aug-13 14:53:29

Well done Sammac, 1/2lb is still 1/2lb, I know mine is gonna be low on Monday due to the amount of exercise I've done this week. I'm taking a 2week break from diet early/mid September to enjoy my birthday, so want to be in the 9s by then but also want the areas where I've lost my 36lb to be toned up so the exercise will continue.

ChestyNut Sun 11-Aug-13 13:04:06

My breath is disgusting!

PutThatDownNow Sun 11-Aug-13 21:07:25

I'm still feeling pretty crap but sticking to it. WI tomorrow and may discuss adding some food to see if that helps me feel better.

ChestyNut Mon 12-Aug-13 22:03:31

I feel rubbish tonight sad

Burny sore tummy and psychologically a bit crap.

Off to bed to see if can sleep it off.

Wowserz129 Tue 13-Aug-13 10:14:45

Urg someone kick my butt. I haven't gone off plan but feeling niggles of temptation. It's not hunger it's just boredom I think of being restricted. Also I weighed today (1 day early) as I can't weigh tomorrow and only 0.5lb off in week 2 hmm. Doesn't seem a lot for half starving yourself lol!

ChestyNut Tue 13-Aug-13 20:17:44

Ill kick yours if you kick mine

<bends over>

Just got to keep plodding on!

Which plan are you on?

doorbellringer Wed 14-Aug-13 08:54:17

Hello can I join? I'm doing Lipotrim and lost 10lb my first week. I'm now on my second week and according to my scales I'm another 4lb down so far, proper WI on Friday. I'm not missing food that badly but I tend to find if I have the rare bit of cheese or chicken I don't feel so deprived and it doesn't seem to have affected my wait loss - yet!
I actually like the shakes so don't feel too bad. Defo in Katosis as breath smells of death!

ChestyNut Wed 14-Aug-13 12:50:56

<breaths over door>

Me too, my lips keep sticking to my teeth too hmm

It's my week 2 weigh in tonight.

PutThatDownNow Wed 14-Aug-13 13:14:18

Hi all. Hope you are starting to feel better Chesty, good luck for tonight. Keep at it Wowzer. I had a couple of disappointing losses but then 3lb this week so eventually the scales will catch up. If you are in ketosis then that fat has to be going somewhere!

A cautionary tale for you all today. Or maybe not cautionary, I found it reassuring in the end. Met someone for lunch yesterday which led to me going off plan. Instead of being sensible and restricting the blip to lunchtime I decided that I may as well go the whole hog and finish the day. Pretty much as a hog. So I had a little bit of everything I thought I had been missing over the last month or so. You know what, none of it was that great and I concluded I hadn't really been missing anything. Back on track today but now have to undo yesterday's damage but reassured that that eating lark may not be all I thought it was cracked up to be hmm.

Welcome aboard doorbell.

MyJellybean Wed 14-Aug-13 19:16:18

Had my weigh in on Monday, week 13 and I gained 1/4lb. This is my first gain, lowest loss so far was -1 1/4lb. However I did do 4 classes last week and 2 sessions in gym so that's a lot of exercise. To make myself feel better i got my dd to take a photo of me and put it next to one taken 13weeks ago when I was 2 1/2st heavier, looking at the difference 3 months has made stopped me focusing on one week.
Good luck everyone with you weigh ins and welcome to doorbell.

ChestyNut Wed 14-Aug-13 22:09:20

Week 2- 6lb off grin

doorbellringer Thu 15-Aug-13 11:02:26

Well done chestynut 6lb is fab!
But please don't breath on me again my own toxic fumes are bad enough grin

ChestyNut Thu 15-Aug-13 13:14:52

Thank you grin

<sprays breath freshner>

doorbellringer Thu 15-Aug-13 16:33:18

Hope that's sugar free, low carb, GSM free, gluten free, lactose free, non genetically modified, animal friendly breath freshener. Lest it puts 00000.0001 of an ounce on you!

ChestyNut Thu 15-Aug-13 17:15:02

Absolutely! Daren't chew a piece of chewing gum! grin

doorbellringer Fri 16-Aug-13 17:32:29

5lb lost at second WI. Happy days!

ChestyNut Fri 16-Aug-13 19:49:37

<waves pompoms>

Well done grin

doorbellringer Fri 16-Aug-13 22:35:38

Thank u! I have just taken delivery of my Slim & Save box. I admit it I'm defecting. I like the lipo shakes but I'm fed up with no variety. Wow yum I received loads of different flavoured shakes, soup, meals & bars!! I got the taster pack of 28 different flavours cost £27.99 plus £4 delivery. So still works out cheaper. Really recommend it chestynut
I know I'm months behind everyone else in this revelation but better late than never!

ChestyNut Sat 17-Aug-13 10:26:48

I need the counselling part of LL so think ill have to stick with it even tho the packs are nasty grin

heavenandearth Sat 17-Aug-13 10:27:15

looking to start a vlcd but unsure which one to try? Need some help

goodgollygosh Sat 17-Aug-13 10:34:48

Hi all, I hope you don't mind but I've been reading the thread and wow! You ladies are amazing its so inspiring. I've been following the 5:2 diet but some weeks doing 3 days fasting but this sounds so tempting to me. Ive checked out the slim and save website and have seen the trial pack of 28 products. Can someone tell me if this is worth getting or are you stuck with the gross flavours that nobody else wants haha. I'm a vegetarian are the meals meat free? Is anyone doing slim and save and just having shakes and no meals/bars etc. if so what are the nicest flavours? I'm thinking of ordering and starting next week so I want to be prepared with the nicest of flavours to help me stick with it. I have 3st to loose to get back to the weight/size I have always been before having my fourth child 9mnths ago. Sorry for the essay and lack of paragraphs I'm rushing before the baby wakes from his one nap of the day and starts his mad rampage of the house!

ChestyNut Sat 17-Aug-13 11:56:04

I'm on lighterlife heaven

It's the most expensive (I think)

But I have a lot to loose and LL has a weekly group counselling session using CBT and TA techniques and a "route to management" where you reintroduce food and a maintenance programme.

So for me it's worth the cost as I need support with the psychological stuff to hopefully get where I want to be and stay there.

Am sure someone will be along soon to tell you about the other VLCDs available.

Good luck thanks

doorbellringer Sat 17-Aug-13 12:16:32

goodgollygosh yes everything in slim & save is suitable for veggies except the mousses (I think there's a rack of ribs in there wink )
Taster pack is great I got an assortment of everything the meals in my pack were cheesy pasta, spicy spaghetti, chilli con crane, mild curry, cottage pie and mushroom pasta. Just to give you an example. I like having the meals plus you can have 200g cooked veggies to bulk it out so you don't feel so deprived.
I was fed up with just shakes on lipotrim so I have high hopes for this bad boy!

goodgollygosh Sat 17-Aug-13 14:56:30

Thanks doorbellringer! Does anyone like the cookies and cream shake? There seems to be a lot of people selling them on eBay and I'm worried I'm going to end up with 10 of these! It seems good value with the taster pack and if I get a good loss then I guess I can order whichever I liked the best.
Do I use a hand blender to mix the shakes and are they quite creamy? (Sorry once again for all the questions).

doorbellringer Sat 17-Aug-13 18:16:27

You get a free shaker if you tick a box. Works a treat. I didn't get cookies and cream shake at all if that helps!

sammac Sat 17-Aug-13 19:36:51

Not been around much as back at work, good to catch up on everyone's successes. I'm having a bit of a plateau at the moment. This week I lost nothing at all. That's despite running around at work and going to classes. According to my scales I was 2lb down but at official WI this morning a big zero. I need to put in big effort as I really want to lose 7 lbs by the end of the month to get to 5stone. I know I haven't been drinking enough water this week - so I'm trying hard today. I'm still going to go to exercise as that's part of the whole getting healthy/fitter programme. I'm toning but not losing. Hopefully it's just my body readjusting to things and I'll have a loss next week to catch up. No nights out planned - well there's a retirement night on Friday, but I'm going to go along later and not be there for the meal, but it'll be a sedate affair anyway.

CerealMom Sat 17-Aug-13 20:41:11

Hello All, I've found the thread. I was Mrs Sonky to start with on the old one. I haven't been around in a while, I thought I'd update you.

I'm still on LL and have now started maintenance. I started in Feb.
My total loss (so far) is 77lbs.
My BMI is now 23.7
Last measurements 9 July:
Chest Feb 47.5" Jul 38"
Waist Feb 41" Jul 32"
Hips Feb 50". Jul 39"
I've lost a further 11lbs since the last measurements were taken.

Maintainence has been interesting. I'm veggie, so the initial stages of protein (eggs and Quorn as I don't do tofu) have been a little dull, but the now increasing list of veggies are good. Have deviated a little with things like jelly. I can't find a sugar free veggie jelly, so have had a sugar one with my fruit.

Am currently doing stage 4 of maintainence. Hoping food will help the terrible burning pain I've been experiencing since March. GP has prescribed Lamaprozole (sp?) (was on omeprozole) but nothing else until I'm on 'full rations' again.

Keep up the good work everyone.

sammac Sat 17-Aug-13 21:10:47

Amazing cereal mom. I don't know much about maintenance but am hoping to move onto it in towards the end of next month (fingers crossed!) I'd done LL before and lost loads but didn't really get much guidance on maintenance and want to ensure that it isn't the case this time. I've lost 63 and want about another 20 off - so very similar to you. Can you tell me a bit more about it when you get a minute?

ChestyNut Sat 17-Aug-13 21:46:52

Wow that's great cereal

Did you do total and stay abstinent for full 6 months?

Struggling for some reason tonight, maybe as haven't had packs as regularly today.

TiffanyAtBreakfast Mon 19-Aug-13 14:50:12

Hi everyone, I'd like to join please smile my story: last year lost 6 stone on LL for my wedding, came off the wagon big time from honeymoon onwards and have regained all the weight (I didn't do management - lesson learned!!)

So now having another go, but with Cambridge. I find it's exactly the same but without all of the cognitive therapy stuff, which I've already learnt from LL so don't feel I need to again. Counselling is one to one, which is nice. Have been on the plan for two weeks, so far have lost almost a stone, pretty pleased. Had a shaky weekend but back on track today and feeling good! Weigh in is on Friday smile

Oh and I have 8 stone to lose.

Hopefully we can get this thread buzzing, it's so nice to hear from other people in the same boat. xx

ChestyNut Mon 19-Aug-13 17:46:16

It's really nice to talk to others in the same boat tiffany

No one else understands how tough it is sad

sammac Mon 19-Aug-13 18:25:20

Hi Tiffany, welcome smile

TiffanyAtBreakfast Mon 19-Aug-13 23:14:43

Hi chestynut and sammac smile which VLCD are you doing, how how long etc? Life stories please lol smile

I'm pleased as was feeling a bit fed up tonight and almost drove to the supermarket for god knows what snacks, but didn't. Went on Pinterest for some dieting inspiration and it saved me!

Xxx

ChestyNut Tue 20-Aug-13 07:04:02

Well done for doing something else tiffany

I'm doing LL.

Did it in 2009 and lost 6 stones but didn't do management and a surgery and an accident later and I comfort ate wy way back to hugeness sad

Only 3 weeks in but accept ( I think) that its no quick fix and the hard work starts once I've lost weight.

What's your inspiration?
I'm a bridesmaid next year, big holiday year after and sick of being breathless, sweaty and achey!

Wowserz129 Tue 20-Aug-13 16:03:09

Well approaching the end of week 3 for me and I am 13 pounds down. I have a planned 4 days off this week as I am away and will be drinking. Little bit anxious about coming back and put it all back on lol! Will do its 100% for the seven weeks following though once I am back smile.
Hope everyone is surviving xx

ChestyNut Wed 21-Aug-13 20:15:14

Where is everyone?

<dusts away tumbleweed>

Week 3 done and another 6lb off smile

MyJellybean Wed 21-Aug-13 23:02:28

I'm back. Been away for a few days and managed to sts, which lm chuffed with as cooked brekkie each day and 2 course evening meal (suppose to be 3 but I avoided ALL the puddings).
I missed wi on Monday as was away and will miss this Monday as BH.
Sammac, I had a 1/4lb gain last week as I was in gym every day. I miss the losses but feel better and am noticing the toning.
Goodgolly I got the S&S starter pack and had the cookies and cream shake and it made me gag, it was horrid, all the other items have tasted really nice. I have just ordered 63 bars, they are addictive (my favourites being the dark and milk truffles and the lemon yoghurt bars).
Welcome to all the newbies and happy weigh ins. X

TiffanyAtBreakfast Wed 21-Aug-13 23:27:42

Hi lovelies. Well done to those who have lost!!

Sorry I'm only just replying, our laptop is in for repair so I'm finding I'm logging on a little less. Getting it back tomorrow though.

Well done for having another go ChestyNut, it's hard to go back. We're at exactly the same point so we can hand hold for each other! feel like once a few stones drop off I will have my mojo back and will feel positive again.

Motivations - short term, Christmas, looking nice in a dress
Long term - my wedding anniversary next march. I also have lots of nice clothes from my thin phase that I can no longer get into. Trivial motivations - not being so boring and shy in bed (sorry TMI!), being able to shop in normal places and to not have to avoid photos like the plague!

Pleased with myself today as I was at a fair where naughty food was readily available but I walked all the way down to tesco instead to buy a salad smile small victories.

Was there a sudden "Right I've had enough" straw that broke the camels back for you ladies? For me it was being in Next and realising that I couldn't even shop there anymore as they never have any size 24s...

doorbellringer Thu 22-Aug-13 08:50:27

Well done chesty nut. You are really doing amazing!
I'm due 3 week weigh in on Friday but since I've swapped to s&s I don't think they'd be too happy at the Lipotrim pharmacy grin so my scales will have to do! I've got a birthday meal tonight but I don't know if a salad will cut the mustard! Fingers crossed I can show some restraint. I have found that if I stick to protein it doesn't affect me too badly so probably chicken and veg! Oh well can't suffer all the time.

ChestyNut Thu 22-Aug-13 09:02:02

Thanks smile

Particularly pleased as AF arrived this morning too and I know some people don't loose so well during that week.

Today is operation clean up and sling it out!
Hopefully distract me from food.

Have a good day ladies.

ChestyNut Thu 22-Aug-13 09:04:06

Ps is it your birthday door?

TiffanyAtBreakfast Thu 22-Aug-13 18:31:32

ChestyNut, sorry for my ignorance but what's AF? smile hope you had a good day and managed to keep busy. I had a really bad day at work and went to tesco (normally a bad plan for me) but managed to just get the loo roll rather than buying treats to make me feel better.

Happy birthday if its yours doorbellringer, have a good night either way! x

ChestyNut Thu 22-Aug-13 19:26:22

Sorry....aunt flo. Period blush

Yes been kept very busy and sweated like a pig.

Well done for sticking with the loo roll.

TiffanyAtBreakfast Thu 22-Aug-13 20:45:05

I've never heard that expression before!!! Haha! So adopting that... smile

SweetLuckyPig Thu 22-Aug-13 21:07:20

Can I join in.

I met with my consultant today..I cried when she weighed me hmm

So I am now armed with my packs and a shaker. I decided to start on the water today and low carbs, I would normally sit here and eat crisps ect but I am feeling determined.

My daughter needs a mum that can run around with her not the fat mum in the playground.

Any tips and lots of support will be gratefully recieved.

ChestyNut Thu 22-Aug-13 21:18:59

Hi sweet

Which plan are you on?

SweetLuckyPig Thu 22-Aug-13 21:27:22

Cambridge.

ChestyNut Sat 24-Aug-13 16:32:58

How's everyone doing?

Struggling today. Missed a pack yesterday and extra hungry/weak feeling today.

Think the psychological "but its Saturday" thing has kicked in to.
Imagine everyone else in the world out with friends eating and drinking or at home having takeaways sad

but I'm choosing to do this and it's not forever (I hope)
Waffle over...

doorbellringer Sat 24-Aug-13 18:07:43

Sorry for the absence. Yes it was my birthday thanks for the greetings. So...I devoured a carbonara. By golly it was good but back on track now. Only lost 2lb I suspect because of the carb fest. In not punishing myself over it just buckling down again. All in all I've lost 1st 2lb over the 3 weeks and I'm delighted with that. I've got a family party on the 5th Sept and I reckon if I am really strict I can lose another 8-10lb before then- which is my goal. My dress arrived today I purposely ordered the size down and I fit into it perfectly. I can see the loss now as I have collar bones again!! grin

ChestyNut Mon 26-Aug-13 19:01:15

How is everyone? It's very quiet in here sad

Family are eating Chinese takeaway

<humph>

MyJellybean Mon 26-Aug-13 20:57:36

Hi Chesty, I'm looking forward to a Chinese duck rice when I take a week off for my birthday in a couple of weeks.

TiffanyAtBreakfast Tue 27-Aug-13 11:34:57

Hi everyone, hope you had a good bank holiday smile well done for resisting the Chinese Chesty!!

At least you've gotten back on track doorbell that's the main thing. And how exciting, love it when the collar bones come back!!

I lost 7lbs at my weigh in on Friday, so I'm over the moon! Struggled over the weekend but feeling good again this morning with renewed focus. Have started a blog to keep me going as well.

Keep needing a wee today, embarrassing, I'm sure my colleagues think I've got issues lol!

TiffanyAtBreakfast Tue 27-Aug-13 17:53:36

Feeling really down this afternoon. Went to town in search of a dress for a family function this weekend and found that nothing fitted or looked nice. Ended up with a niceish top from Tesco. Feel like a huge frump. And I feel like I don't have anyone to talk to sad my friends say all the right things but don't really understand IYKWIM.

ChestyNut Tue 27-Aug-13 18:28:35

Oh me too Tiffany!

Deffo feeling woe is me today.

No one can understand how you feel when you have such a lot to loose.
It's so disheartening that I've been 100% but no one seems to have noticed sad
I know it didn't go on in a month so it certainly won't come off in a month.

I just want food and weight not to be such a big issue in my life anymore.

Only had two packs so far today, just cannot be bothered hmm

Know I have no other choice but to stick at it though.

angelinterceptor Tue 27-Aug-13 18:49:30

I have been so inspired by this thread; but at the same time I am so scared to give it a try for myself.
I am just back from summer holidays and I felt like such a lardy ass the whole time.
I have about 5 stone to take off I think - although to be honest just getting down to a size 14-ish would be perfect, I dont really mind what actual weight I am.
I have tried in the past, calorie counting, low-fat, low carb, Harcombe and nothing seems to work for me.

I am embarassed in public, regularly turn down social occasions - dont like eating in public anyway as I always think everyone else is judging my food choices, whether they are healthy or not.

I think I will bite the bullet and order some supplies from Slim and Save and see if I can stick at something for a month (september) and see what the results are.

ChestyNut Tue 27-Aug-13 18:54:49

<waves weight loss Pom poms for angel>

You can do it!

Exantevirgin Tue 27-Aug-13 20:56:06

Hi, new to exante and new to forums. Always read them but never write. Thought I could do with the support. My order arrives tomorro and am starting on Monday after a family party at the in laws at the weekend cos don't want to have to explain the no food or plonk thing! Can't wait to get started. My goal is 3.1/2 stone! Hopefully by Christmas would be perfect! What are my chances do you all think?

ChestyNut Tue 27-Aug-13 22:23:01

Think you have a very good chance if you stick to plan.

We could be the christmas slinkies grin

Exantevirgin Tue 27-Aug-13 22:54:14

Oh I really hope so! Can't do with being the Christmas pudding again!

Exantevirgin Tue 27-Aug-13 23:09:43

We on here all know those feelings tiff! With each others support and those regular frumpy feelings we can all reach our goals so take then as a blessing in disguise.

I was looking at some photos of myself today from about five years ago. I look do young and slim but didnt feel it at the time! If I could just get back to looking like that again, j promise I really would appreciate it this time !!! Sick of feeling swollen and tight and like I have a fat suit on in the middle of summer !!

Boy it feels good to say how I truly feel!!

ChestyNut Wed 28-Aug-13 08:52:23

Just need to set your mind on it and go for it!

I have my fed up days but I can't go on looking like a hippo grin

Week 4 weigh in to tonight.
I get nervous I haven't lost every week!

NormaReedus Wed 28-Aug-13 09:06:23

Hiya, well done on all your loses!!

Newbie here.

I've been doing s&s for 2 weeks now and only lost 5lbs. Am feeling really disappointed as I can lose 2.5lbs a week on WWs or similar.

sad

Anyone else have a slow start? I can't see me loosing 9lbs in the next to week to make the 'stone a month'

NormaReedus Wed 28-Aug-13 09:07:19

PS. Am completely 100%, never cheated, put everything in the meal planner, talked to one of the advisors who only advised decaff tea (but i rarely drink tea anyways)

TiffanyAtBreakfast Wed 28-Aug-13 11:11:42

Hi all, and hi newbies smile best of luck with your first week or so. exantevirgin I reckon your goal is do-able, as ChestyNut said, just stick to the plan. Those few months will whizz by smile

Thanks for the kind words ladies, feeling a bit better today although still oddly weepy! I was so upset by the time I got home last night that DH said 'shall we just get a pizza', and I went on the website and everything, but then suddenly thought NOOOO! And said we would have something healthy. Really proud of myself for that as before the diet I would've used DH as 'permission' to go off track. (I'm on Step 2 of Cambridge, 810cals, where you eat 3 packs and a 'normal' skinny meal in the evening by the way)

ChestyNut, dying to know how you did at week 4 weigh in! Please update us smile

Norma, don't be down about 5lbs, that's still almost half a stone remember! Perhaps your body is just taking a little time to get used to it and you'll have a bigger loss next week. I'm afraid I can't give any useful advice though as I've never done S&S / don't have any experience of it. Keep at it though, sounds like you've done really well not to cheat etc!

I doubt anyone is particularly interested as it's just ramblings, but my little blog is here:
www.the-chub-e-diaries.blogspot.com

Exantevirgin Wed 28-Aug-13 13:49:33

Just awaiting my parcel now at work, said it would be here in next hour! So excited! Think I'm gonna struggle though. Will need ur support cos ur all doing so well!!

Exantevirgin Wed 28-Aug-13 13:52:36

It's here!! Impressive service! It's all down to me from Monday onwards!

angelinterceptor Wed 28-Aug-13 16:52:53

Just placed my first 'sample' order with slim&save - excited and very very nervous about this.
I cannot take another depressing failure

Exantevirgin Wed 28-Aug-13 17:32:24

Hey angel, start exante on Monday so we can not fail together if u like.

ChestyNut Wed 28-Aug-13 20:14:06

Week 4- 3lb off

Total- 25lb in 4 weeks. grin

Exantevirgin Wed 28-Aug-13 21:06:45

Omg! Well done you that is amazing! What a hard act to follow! 😁 Hope u are very proud of yourself.

TiffanyAtBreakfast Thu 29-Aug-13 09:08:31

Good luck Exante and Angel! You'll be great. Keep checking in here, we're all in the same boat.

Wow Chesty that is fantastic!! smile Are you feeling good, clothes looser etc?!

TiffanyAtBreakfast Thu 29-Aug-13 09:19:26

Sweetluckypig are you still following? Would be great to have another Cambridger to talk to smile

Happychick1 Thu 29-Aug-13 09:49:44

Hope it's ok to post here have posted yesterday but no one has come to me.
Started exante diet, this is my day three, I have been getting all my info of forums as nothing but the box of packs came to me.
Found a guy who is blogging doing it and on there he says chicken and lobster is fine to nibble when hunger strikes. I am trying to do the 3 packs a day, but late at night have had small bits of these to nibble.
Just found out that the meds I take, 1 per day has corn starch in them, can anyone say if these are ok to keep taking while on exante diet. Will this stop me getting to ketotis and staying there ?
As you can tell I really am guessing most of how I do it.
Thank you for any help x

ChestyNut Thu 29-Aug-13 13:43:39

tiffany yes my ankles hurt less and less breathless.
Uniform loose but still no size 10 yet grin
Is it weigh in tomorrow?

Hi happy good luck! Can't tell you much about exante as I'm doing LL
If its a prescribed medication shouldn't stop without speaking to GP tho.

TiffanyAtBreakfast Thu 29-Aug-13 14:46:32

Aww sorry happychick we didn't mean to ignore you! smile I'm afraid I have no knowledge of Exante so can't advise. One thing I would advise though is that where possible, try not to nibble on things even if you want to. In my experience it's a slippery slope to a full on blow-out. Fine if you can stay restrained but just a warning smile

It surprises me that they don't send you a leaflet or a guide on how to do it!

Oooh that's good progress anyway Chesty. I'm out of my grumpy listless phase now and feeling better again. Weigh in is actually not til Monday as my counsellor is on holiday, eeek! Are you feeling good today?

Toomanyrolls32 Thu 29-Aug-13 17:05:41

Hi all, I'm seriously considering doing a VLCD, researching at present have done cambridge before but money is a main factor now, suggestions if possible. Have to be bridesmaid for my bestfriend in may and don't want to be the fat bridesmaid :-(

ChestyNut Thu 29-Aug-13 17:37:04

Me too rolls but August!
Lets be gorge bridesmaids together grin

Am ok tiffany just plodding on.
Super tired but get in bed on a night and ping, I'm awake hmm

Non food treat tonight in form of cinema.

I too wouldn't dare nibble on anything as sure would be back to stuffing my face in a week.

angelinterceptor Thu 29-Aug-13 18:07:52

I should have my sample packs on Monday I think - but have some social things in september, so don't know how i will work round that.
Somehow, I dont want to tell anyone about this - as people are so judgemental about VLCD

Exantevirgin Thu 29-Aug-13 18:35:09

Yea me too. I have only told hubby. Ill see if I can stick to it first and if I actually lose any decent amount of weight and then I won't care who knows.

Toomanyrolls32 Thu 29-Aug-13 21:52:31

chesty which vlcd are you doing? Have you started one yet??

TiffanyAtBreakfast Thu 29-Aug-13 22:06:52

Omg anyone needing motivation should watch "The Man Who Ate Himself To Death" on channel 5 right now... Terrifying.

ChestyNut Thu 29-Aug-13 23:20:02

Yes rolls
An doing lighterlife. 4 weeks in.

Awful isn't it tiffany sad

TiffanyAtBreakfast Fri 30-Aug-13 12:18:00

Really harrowing. Poor man sad sad

How's everyone feeling today? The sun is shining and it's Fridayyyy... I have to host a dinner party tonight. I'm going to try to have a smaller portion and not to eat the starter (bread with balsamic vinegar) or the pudding (tarte au citron)! Will be a challenge but I'd love to be able to write on here tomorrow that I didn't have any..!

TiffanyAtBreakfast Fri 30-Aug-13 12:18:53

Oh by the way, does anyone object to food talk (only when it's saying you don't want it / what you're trying to resist)? I remember when I did LL I just didn't want to hear about food at all, so please let me know if I'm being unhelpful smile
xx

BigusBumus Fri 30-Aug-13 12:33:49

rolls I lost 2.5 stone with Cambridge 2 years ago. Sadly I put it on again and now am doing Exante, which is exactly the same only cheaper and without a consultant/weigh in. If you have the motivation to do it yourself, its great. My motivation is getting married in Mauritius in November! I need to lose 2 stone (12st 6 at mo). Been on it 2 weeks, first week I lost 6lb, 2nd week I lost nothing due to horrendous wine consumption (although I stuck to the diet/eating part). Lesson learnt!

BigusBumus Fri 30-Aug-13 12:35:01

Exante have a website full of information and you buy your packs off there too. You can use Paypal which is a plus for me as I'm an eBay seller.

TiffanyAtBreakfast Fri 30-Aug-13 15:21:28

Ooooh Mauritius! Congratulations bigusbumus, how exciting! You can lose that 2 stone no problem, will be gone in the blink of an eye ;)

ChestyNut Sun 01-Sep-13 19:00:04

How did the dinner party go tiffany?

How's everyone doing?

Exantevirgin Sun 01-Sep-13 19:33:36

So this is my last day of food and alcohol. I start my exante mission tomorro. I'm really panicking that I'm gonna fail. I am so determined though. Hopefully I won't feel pathetic but empowered. I think after first week if weight loss is good I will definitely feel spurred on. It's just the first week will feel really long.

Exantevirgin Sun 01-Sep-13 19:45:39

Been thinking and my mantra needs to be to remember that while at the time of stuffing my face it feels great until its swallowed and digested, the rest of the time I feel fat, not myself , miserable and self conscious.

Whereas if I feel deprived of food at that moment or even for a few days , the rest of the time I will feel so great that I am on this journey and excited how I will end up with my old body back.

I'm just gonna keep looking at recent photos if I'm struggling and also my gorgeous old clothes that u am determined will fit me once again!!

ChestyNut Sun 01-Sep-13 21:13:45

When I want to eat I just think about the damage it will done on the scales and will food make me really feel better.

Good luck!

Exantevirgin Mon 02-Sep-13 09:51:39

Thank you. Good tip! So had my first shake this morn. So far so good!

ChestyNut Mon 02-Sep-13 18:27:03

How's it going exante?

Exantevirgin Mon 02-Sep-13 18:55:43

It's been a tough day am not gonna lie but gonna stay focused on end result and just looking in the mirror keeps me reminded why I'm doing this so hey ho! You've done so well by to do four weeks. What is ur loss? Is first few days the hardest?

ChestyNut Mon 02-Sep-13 19:49:13

Have lost 25lb so far smile

First 4 days are hard but after that it gets sooo much easier.

Exantevirgin Mon 02-Sep-13 20:07:51

Oh I hope so. I'm doing 3 packs a day so just looking forward to week three already when I can add another two hundred calories and so eight hundred a day. Well I suppose if first four days are the hardest then I have already done a quarter! 25 pounds is amazing! Well done ! I bet u are seeing the positives already then! I think my first goal needs to be that someone notices I lost something then it will keep me going. Have u stuck to it rigidly ? Or had any oops moments?

TiffanyAtBreakfast Mon 02-Sep-13 20:32:58

Hi ladies, glad to hear everyone's doing so well.

The dinner party was great thanks chesty, sadly my weekend went down hill from there. Went to a family party where my weight was a constant topic and my food/drinking habits over the weekend were constantly commented on, even if it was something I was allowed to have, which just made me feel so self conscious and awful. I spent hours choosing a dress to wear that I didn't feel enormous in and my dad kept saying "have some decorum" and pulling at the bottom of it (it was knee length) sad

Feel completely run down and emotionally exhausted today, and alone. My husband is really lovely but to him my tears are quite a usual occurrence (I'm a crier) and he takes it with a pinch of salt and thinks I will be fine if he just gives me a hug. My friends haven't been around much either.

sad I put on 4lbs over 10 days. Note to self - stop emotional eating. sad

TiffanyAtBreakfast Mon 02-Sep-13 20:35:36

Really sorry for the downer in this lovely positive thread.

Cambridgedietgirl Mon 02-Sep-13 21:26:00

Hi all

Hope you don't mind me joining in....

I'm on day 15 of the Cambridge diet, lost 20lbs so far!!! Finding it hard...so hungry!!! Thought it was supposed to get easier?!

ChestyNut Mon 02-Sep-13 21:28:47

I've stuck to it 100% exante. <proud>

Oh tiffany I'm sorry you've had a shitty weekend. Families really make things hard sometimes.

Chin up. Onwards and downwards.....you can do this.

Currently typing 1 eyed as sore swollen eye hmm

ChestyNut Mon 02-Sep-13 21:30:20

Don't know much about Cambridge. Is it food packs only? Ketotic?

I have moments but feeling ok most of the time.

Cambridgedietgirl Mon 02-Sep-13 21:37:35

Yes I have 4 food packs a day of around 140 cals each!!just counting down the days till I can chew something!!

ChestyNut Mon 02-Sep-13 21:47:04

Me too! Can have one bar a day which sort of satisfies my chew urge.

Packs making me heave at the minute hmm

Exantevirgin Tue 03-Sep-13 00:03:07

cambridgedietgirl that's impressive weight loss! Don't give up the hunger is just the devil trying to seduce you I'm sure. I'm hoping I can stay as strong as you and get to day 15 so please use the fact that you have inspired me to keep you so focused.

Exantevirgin Tue 03-Sep-13 00:09:48

cambridgedietgirl? Just wondering, has this been hard from day one or would you say it's up and down.

It's my day one today and am hoping at least in four data or so it's less of an issue and more of a routine .

I'm not expecting miracles obviously and am only on 600 cals a day which is probably about equivalent to my old alcohol intake lol. So I realise its a battle, but just would like to know if its hunger then hunger into more hunger or if some periods are better than others.

In other words, you've given me loads of inspiration, now I just need a bit if faith .

Exantevirgin Tue 03-Sep-13 00:11:06

That should of said hope, not faith btw! My brain is clearly mushed already! Help!!

ChestyNut Tue 03-Sep-13 06:41:46

Honestly exante once you're into ketosis it's miles easier.

I have periods of hunger but generally feel fine.

You can do this! grin

Exantevirgin Tue 03-Sep-13 09:35:52

Oh that is good news. I've checked my stix this morn and there's already traces of keytones!! Yay! I'm on my way!

angelinterceptor Tue 03-Sep-13 10:23:01

Well, I still haven't started, as although I placed my first order last Wednesday from SnS, I haven't received it yet sad
Supposed to be 2 day delivery, but hey ho - these things are sent to try us.

well done exante - I am like you dreading this, as I have failed so many times before

Cambridgedietgirl Tue 03-Sep-13 11:31:09

I found the first week easy (most find it the hardest) just these last couple of days that I'm finding tough really. I just keep thinking of the bigger picture...hopefully by Christmas ill be able to move up a step and start eating again. :-)
How are you getting on?

Cambridgedietgirl Tue 03-Sep-13 11:32:48

The above was to Exantevirgin

Cambridgedietgirl Tue 03-Sep-13 11:36:16

ChestyNut I'm sick of soup!!!! Hopefully going to try some bars next week...the chocolate shake is delicious warm !!

ChestyNut Tue 03-Sep-13 13:15:10

I don't eat the soup cambridge is horrible envy

Currently I eat bars, strawberry and banana shake and spaghetti bolognese.

Can't say I like any of them.

Exantevirgin Tue 03-Sep-13 15:36:53

I had a bar for breakfast this morning. I must say the choc and orange was yummy. I've had the carbonara for my lunch, not so yummy!! I just am dreading the evening now, not so much cos I'm hungry but cos its the whole occasion thing of me and hubby having tea together once little one in bed.
What a let down angel oh well try and keep the will power flowing for when it finally arrives and enjoy free food while you still can

Exantevirgin Tue 03-Sep-13 15:38:23

cambridgedietgirl hopefully it sounds like just a wobble ur having. We can all enjoy looking to our well deserved and non guilty turkey and trimmings at Christmas time! We can do it!!

bbpants Tue 03-Sep-13 17:12:43

I'm back! (Whispers, in case nobody she 'knew' from earlier in the thread is still around!)

I managed to lose 4st with Slim and Save earlier in the year, but lost focus in July and decided to give myself 8 weeks off, and start again in September.

So I'm back, have put POUNDS on (half through the expected gain when you go back to eating carbs again, and half through just utter gluttony), but am focussed with a view to losing all that I've gained plus another 2st by Christmas. It's doable, but I will need to keep on track.

SweetLuckyPig Tue 03-Sep-13 18:48:19

Tiffany, yes still following... 12 days in.

Week one weight loss 10lb.grin

I'm struggling today alot, I don't feel Hungry at all and don't want to eat but I feel utterly miserable!

How long have you been following?

Exantevirgin Wed 04-Sep-13 11:43:23

Hi, it is a struggle already and only on day three! It's not hunger, I just miss the taste of food! Trying to keep focused on my goals though. 10 pounds is fab in one week I hope I make it! Sick of the toilet visits every ten minutes though!

Toomanyrolls32 Wed 04-Sep-13 12:56:30

hello all, hope you are all getting on fab!!! I have finally bit the bullet and ordered from exante, hoping I have made the choice, and hoping you guys can give me some support, thinking of starting Monday so I can enjoy the weekend and start fresh!! i'll also try and support you guys too if i can smile fingers crossed I lose the weight and will not be the fat bridesmaid!!!

angelinterceptor Wed 04-Sep-13 13:55:15

Finally received my taster pack from SnS - have read the book and it all looks a bit daunting, specially the bit about drinking alcohol.
I have one last night out/party planned on saturday 14th, and therefore rather than go through all the first few days this week, then coming out of it again for the 'night out' and then starting again.
It sounds like stalling, and of course I cannot deny I am scared of doing this - my DH thinks it will be easy.

So I am still following this thread for support, but not going to start properly until Monday 16 September - and then I am going to try full 12 weeks!

Will use this week to test some of the packs I think, so that I can place an order for supplies in time for proper start.

keep up the good work everyone - you are all doing so well.

ChestyNut Wed 04-Sep-13 17:01:47

Week 5 weigh in....

<wibble>

Exantevirgin Wed 04-Sep-13 17:51:46

And?...

Toomanyrolls32 Wed 04-Sep-13 18:15:41

Good luck chesty xx

ChestyNut Wed 04-Sep-13 20:23:35

4lbs

2st 1lb in 5 weeks.

Go me grin

bbpants Wed 04-Sep-13 21:38:14

Wow, Chesty, that's fantastic.

Angel - don't be daunted, slim and save is very doable, especially if you've got a run without lots of social events. I am a BIG drinker (anybody who knows me would tell You I love my wine) but I found the giving up alcohol the easy bit. I do miss it, but I feel SO much better without it.

Exantevirgin Wed 04-Sep-13 22:32:29

Everyone is doing so well! I had a struggle of a day and still not in ketosis?! I wanna join your impressive weight loss club but I just know my weight loss is gonna be pathetic cos I never seem to lose no matter what I do. Did any of u troopers feel like u couldn't make it after just 3 days?
chesty I hope I even make it to five weeks never mind such an amazing loss. Well done u!

bbpants Thu 05-Sep-13 07:23:55

Exante - I'm not an expert but I think it can sometimes take 5 days to reach ketosis. And day 3 is notorious for feeling rubbish - it's the 'carb flu'. Keep going - it WILL get better.

angelinterceptor Thu 05-Sep-13 08:07:28

Had my first shake today - caramel shake - was OK

Testing the flavors maybe one per day until I start properly on 16th

I am usually so boring I will probably only get one or two shake flavors, soups, bars in any case.

SweetLuckyPig Thu 05-Sep-13 12:34:27

Week 2 weigh in 9lb loss, that's 19lb in 2 weeks.

How is everyone feeling/doing?

Exantevirgin Thu 05-Sep-13 13:54:00

sweetluckypig well done that is great work! I'm on day four and hunger is getting easier but I do still miss proper food . Am dreading the weekend! Have u had any mishaps or followed to the letter?

Toomanyrolls32 Thu 05-Sep-13 15:48:50

Fantastic sweet great start keep up the good work

ChestyNut Thu 05-Sep-13 17:33:46

sweet that is freaking awesome grin

exante just keep going. It is terrible until you're into ketosis properly.
No negative thoughts. You can do this

<waves weight loss Pom poms>

Exantevirgin Thu 05-Sep-13 18:25:36

Thank u chesty. Really need some words of support cos really losing that enthusiasm I started with and although I had traces of keytones on day two, they've gone again?! Just don't get it?! Think I'm beyond help!!

ChestyNut Thu 05-Sep-13 18:39:01

Is it packs only? ( forgive me my memory is terrible)

Some people take longer than others to get into ketosis and if you're drinking plenty of water the cour would be lighter anyway.
I think day 5 is normally my in ketosis day.

Just think what the alternative is?

For me it's suffer for a short while or be unhealthy, unhappy, uncomfortable and in attractive.

Ill take the suffering.

Tell me the good things about loosing that weight.....

tiffany where are you?

Exantevirgin Thu 05-Sep-13 18:54:53

Thanks chesty. Yeah just three packs a day and. Reservoir of water ! Just can't stop thinking about food! I like spicy food and loads of different flavours and that's what I miss. Coping without glass of wine much better than I thought tho

SweetLuckyPig Thu 05-Sep-13 19:49:07

Exante. I have followed to plan 100%, there has been some hard days. I have always drank a shed load of full fat coke, and the 1st week I used black coffee but am now 4 days caffeine free.

I have cried and gone to bed at 7oclock at times but what the future holds is what is important to me.

Try not to focus to hard on ketosis, it will come, I tested on day 2 because I'm impatient but haven't since.

Re the spicy flavours my consultant told me I could add chilli flakes, Worcester sauce, salt pepper ect to the soups, it helped in that initial few days.

I set myself small targets like get through today and see what tomorrow holds and wake up feeling positive the next day. You can do this.

Exantevirgin Thu 05-Sep-13 20:49:33

Aw! I am so grateful for your comforting words of support . Thank you! I know that if I cheat or give in I will only beat myself up and hate myself as I've done the same on other diets. The fact that everyone keeps saying that it gets easier, is keeping me more determined I think cos I do feel less hungry overall just have my moments. I'm definitely gonna set my self small goals. Great idea!

So.... 1-Must get to first weigh in without cheating
2-to lose seven pounds over two weeks
3- to inspire another newbie like u have done me

Thanks gal and keep it going

Exantevirgin Thu 05-Sep-13 20:50:55

And well done in the caffeine! U really are hardcore!

ChestyNut Fri 06-Sep-13 07:00:26

Have a good day ladies thanks

Exantevirgin Fri 06-Sep-13 07:43:17

Thanks chesty, you too honey!

SweetLuckyPig Fri 06-Sep-13 07:51:23

Thanks Chesty. thanks

A new day and now I can have bars, I am looking forward to chewing something ha!

Exante great goals, you can do this.

PutThatDownNow Fri 06-Sep-13 08:07:33

Hi everyone, I'm back. Lovely to see everyone doing so well and so many new faces (not entirely sure that's the right word for a forum but hopefully you know what I mean).

Have been missing for 3 or 4 weeks. Came off plan as wasn't well and then have been on hols. Took shakes with me on hols and managed to use them a bit, eg for breakfast to limit the damage. Back now and 2lb on so not too bad all in all.

Need to get back on track today. Fingers crossed I can use some willpower today.

angelinterceptor Sat 07-Sep-13 14:04:18

OMG just tried one of the packs from SnS - chilli con carne.
Not great to be honest.

Does anyone just do the shakes, soups and bars and leave the dodgy 'meals' out?

Can anyone doing slim n save recommend any favourites?

Thanks

Exantevirgin Sat 07-Sep-13 17:19:04

I'm mixing the meals with shakes and bars. It's my day six today and feeling extra tired for some reason. I have felt ok energy wise all week but not today. Feeling a bit deprived of a life at the weekend. It feels like a slog left to go. Not a happy bunny today. And still not in ketosis so just don't get it? Am I even burning fat or just doing this for fun? Sorry to soon so negative but really struggling today

ChestyNut Sat 07-Sep-13 19:56:08

Wooh! Is it weigh day tomorrow exante?

Exciting! Can't weight to see how you've done smile

Toomanyrolls32 Sat 07-Sep-13 19:59:26

Well my packs arrived, I'm holding off till Monday to start so I can get all naughtiness out the way, plus a lush roast at my mums tomorrow. Fingers crossed and lots of support may be needed to get through this!! Wish me luck!!

Exantevirgin Sat 07-Sep-13 21:51:21

Well chesty, it's my day seven tomorro so was gonna wait Til Monday then it's full seven days. Fingers crossed. I need something to motivate me and cheer me up.

Enjoy ur roast rolls. envy

ChestyNut Sat 07-Sep-13 22:59:48

Ho ho see what my auto correct did...can't weight grin

Exantevirgin Sun 08-Sep-13 00:01:05

Day six done! Proud once I get to bed. Wish I had three weeks under my belt but I'm sure ill get used to it and it'll pass.

I am determined to feel like myself by Christmas time! I can do this! I can't weight either chesty lol

ChestyNut Sun 08-Sep-13 09:39:29

grin

Well done exante
Is it feeling any easier yet?

Exantevirgin Sun 08-Sep-13 11:04:00

Yea actually it is a little easier thanks. I bought some marigold bouillon yesterday and that really helped. Think sometimes just need that food taste in my mouth.

TwinkleSparkleBling Sun 08-Sep-13 13:48:54

Hello everyone, can I join you?

I'm starting S&S tomorrow. I did it for a short while earlier this year and lost about 2st..then I got complacent and thought I "deserved" a break and never got back on it.

I have a lot to go but want to be halfway by Christmas. I found a similar thread on here really helpful last time, as it helped knowing others were going through the same.

Haven't read through the thread yet, but I plan to tomorrow about 3pm when my willpower is nowhere to be seen so will get to know you all a bit more then!

Exantevirgin Sun 08-Sep-13 14:09:24

Hey twinkle would love to have another person to moan at grin I am on day seven although it feels much longer. I'm determined not to give up but finding it difficult at times so would be great to support each other. How did u find s and a the first time? Sounds like u did a great job.

ChestyNut Sun 08-Sep-13 18:07:58

Welcome twinkle
How much do you want to loose?

exante what on earth is marigold bouillon?

Just found out friend who lives abroad is coming home for a week soon.
Am very excited grin

Exantevirgin Sun 08-Sep-13 19:01:36

It's like a veg stock chesty

lizardqueenie Mon 09-Sep-13 08:09:56

Hello may I join in?

Today is going to be my day one again after recently loosing just over a stone doing CWP in a couple of weeks. I'm going to use my cambridge products that I have left & then probably buy from S&S.

Hoping to get a good chunk of weight off before my daughters 3rd birthday party at the beginning of Nov. that's my initial target date. Good luck to you all- there are some great losses & progress here!
