My water diet

I need to loose weight. but how?

I'm far too busy to concentrate on what I eat, how much and when.

It stresses met out when I have to prepare special foods & drinks for myself in advance because we are going to a friends' or have guests or travelling or whatever.

We have 6 kids and I'm just so busy. 4 at school, 2 at home, there's always something more important than weighing and calculating my little portions of pasta.
I always get interrupted and distracted.

Plus baby is only 13 months and is a mummy's girl, so I rarely get anything done - like tidying or being organized.
I'm not even going to talk about lack of sleep.

the house is a mess and I DH is about to have an operation, then there are holidays and birthdays and so on. It's just too much.

Weight Watchers always worked for me, so my plan is to go back in September, but as for now I can not fully commit to it.
I can't do it half-arsed.

that's all very well, but what about for the next 3 months?
my birthday is at the end of August and we are going on holiday and I really want to loose about 2 stones (which I did with WW 2 years ago, so I know I can) and wear my prettier clothes and feel just healthier.

So I came up with an idea.

I've heard countless of times and from various sources that half the time (or so) we eat because we are thirsty, not hungry. that not enough water is one of the reasons we over-eat.

so I thought that I will drink 2 litres of water everyday and will not worry about what I eat and when and how much. And see if that makes a difference.

See if it helps me reduce cravings, if it fills me up to reduce food intake.
or flush out toxins. or help me feel less tired.
And most importantly if it helps me to get slimmer.
I've got nothing to loose - just the extra weight!grin

Join me if you like.

amazingmumof6 Sat 25-May-13 10:00:27

To start:
I weighed myself yesterday and was 86 kgs.
I can't even remember what I ate all day, but managed to drink just over a litre of water.
I haven't started going to the toilet more just yet, which I'm expecting to happen once I reach the daily 2 litres.

Today: finished one sports bottle already (500ml) and had breakfast.
it is a lovely sunny day, so I'm thinking how flowers and plants need a lot water to function well to bring fruit or beautiful flowers.

I'm determined to drink my daily target of 1.5 litres of water.

let's see how it goes.

And I feel really happy! All the worries and frustration about not being able to loose weight is gone. that was unexpected! smile

HeySoulSister Sat 25-May-13 10:05:48

you should be drinking that anyway!!

amazingmumof6 Sat 25-May-13 10:10:40

but I haven't! that is the point.

I've been drinking tea and coffee and juice and pepsi and hot chocolate.

hardly ever just a glass of water.

and I will still have all of the above, but I decided that none of those will count towards my water intake.

my diet, my rules! grin

are you joining?

HeySoulSister Sat 25-May-13 10:18:05

no need for me to join

I've lost 4 stone through low carbing, still losing well on it,but almost at target

I also workout with a bootcamp and run 3 times a week. also drink about 2 litres daily as part of routine.

be interesting to see what you actually lose

amazingmumof6 Sat 25-May-13 10:35:37

wow, well done, that is fantastic!

Well, I'll be interested too - right now this is the only thing I can focus on & do on my own without following any actual diet plan.

It really is more like a test, wing-it style. strangely exciting!grin

I'm off now to have a brew and a biscuit, but I feel actually quite thirsty, so I'll have a glass of water first.

I certainly don't feel hungry right now, I only want to eat a biscuit coz of habit.

amazingmumof6 Sat 25-May-13 10:41:27

I forgot to add - I decided to only get weighed once a week on Friday mornings, without clothes, after I woke up and been to the bathroom, but before breakfast.
better base for comparison I think, then just hopping on the scales any odd time - which is what I do when not on a diet..

amazingmumof6 Sat 25-May-13 12:13:59

on 2nd bottle of water and feel slightly sick.
not at all hungry.
don't feel like eating anything sweet right now. Didn't have biscuit with brew either - shocker!

fancy grapes though.

(Disclaimer: I'm not pg and due to recent MMR vax I'm not allowed to TTC for 3 months, so it's all good)

Niknakpaddywhack Sat 25-May-13 14:02:42

Good luck - I will watch this with interest and, actually, yes, I think I will join you!!
I definitely don't drink enough, and need to lose about 7lbs so will give it a go.
My only concern is that as I already seem to have a really 'weak bladder' and go to the loo every couple of hours during the day, plus once or sometimes twice during the night, if I will now spend all day on the loo!!

amazingmumof6 Sat 25-May-13 15:09:58

Niknak yay, my first buddy!wink call me Zing!

I'm so glad you are here, I was worried I'm going to end up like some monk writing my memoirs! grin

my instinct is that if you drink more water your bladder will have to cope with it and might just get stronger.

my children would frequently wet the bed and we were taught that they need bladder training, partially by increasing the liquid intake.

see what I mean?

so, I've just finished my 2nd bottle (so 1 litre so far)

had a nice lunch, but DID not crave the usual pack of crisps with my sandwich, so I left it out. had a tomato and spring onions with it.
I did drown the chicken in mayo as usual, then had my nice cuppa (2 sugars) and a Penguin bar.

no rules, just concentrating on the water, so liberating!!!! It's like suddenly I have a bit of extra room in my brain to think about other things.

so, 7lb is a very do-able amount, I don't think it will take you long.

how much have you managed so far?

amazingmumof6 Sat 25-May-13 15:14:28

ooh and the way I measure how much water I drink is to have a 500ml sports water bottle.

For now I put an elastic band on it as I start, then refill and put a second elastic band on. and so on. then it's easy to track it.

I think that system will work.

3rd bottle, here we go.

Niknakpaddywhack Sat 25-May-13 16:59:11

Zing that's a good idea about the elastic bands to remind you how many you've had.

I have put a sports bottle of water in the fridge as I prefer water really cold (are you drinking tap water or bottled water?)and I have been drinking from another bottle while I've been gardening.

It is liberating to just concentrate on one aspect of healthy eating, much more "can do" than trying too many things at once.

I have lost about 5lb up till now through smaller portions sizes and trying to eat healthier snacks but seem to have plateu plataux got stuck.

You sound really positive- I hope it works for you [smile[

Niknakpaddywhack Sat 25-May-13 16:59:57

amazingmumof6 Sat 25-May-13 17:06:36

tap water for now, but will dig out my brita water filterer.
too cold hurts my teethsad

had an apple and feeling hungry. I might have some yogurt with a bit of honey and flaked almonds.

I'm not tempted to snack chocolate, but still avoiding the kitchen.grin

forcookssake Sat 25-May-13 17:10:15

You have just inspired me to actually drink water, pure and simple instead of another tea our coffee-thanks!grin

Dontwanttobeyourmonkeywrench Sat 25-May-13 17:16:10

I'll join you! I'm the same weight as you and have a v sedentary job. I realised last week that I definitely don't drink enough fluids because I had to fill in a fluid intake chart for DSD as part of her coursework. I fall off the wagon if I try to concentrate on too many things at the same time so this is easy enough to do. On my second bottle and my wee is finally straw coloured. Goes to show how dehydrated I was blush

amazingmumof6 Sat 25-May-13 18:03:28

yay, more buddies! so happy you are joining! <waving>

my DH actually said he'll join as well.

for dinner we'll have tortilla wraps with southern friend chicken pieces (tesco) baked in the oven.
add bbq sauce and finely chopped peppers, cucumbers, spring onions, grated carrots and grated cheese.

kids LOVE this, easy peasy.

what are you all eating?

on third bottle now, don't feel like drinking anymore, but will finish it before dinner.

Niknakpaddywhack Sat 25-May-13 18:41:37

Your dinner sounds lovely Zing My DH cooked his first oven-baked risotto (I've been teaching him to cook) and it was lovely. It had bacon, peppers, sweetcorn and petit pois in and he did some mushrooms in garlic butter to go with it. Mmmmm. The problem is - I love food!

I had a glass of water with a squeeze of lemon juice in it to flavour it as I was getting a little bored of plain water blush

amazingmumof6 Sat 25-May-13 18:52:57

ooh, sounds yum. I lurve mushrooms!

see that's the thing, I do to.
but I'm hoping that in a few days or weeks I will
a.) not crave sugary/salty snacks
b.) will be able to separate thirst from hunger
c.) simply eat less by consuming less and stopping when full
d.) not worry or think about food too much
all thanks to water

we all know pretty much what we shouldn't eat, but it's not about not having "naughty" foods.

what I hope is to achieve a natural way of supressing hunger, cravings and over-eating.
that surely must lead to weight loss and being more healthy.
Well, that's my theory anyway. smile

amazingmumof6 Sat 25-May-13 18:54:39

I do the lemon water sometimes as well. good idea!

blush is forbidden here BTW!

munchkinmaster Sat 25-May-13 19:01:06

I'll join this h2o based craziness. I'm shit at diets and am really struggling to cook diet meals for me, normal meals for DH and really nourishing meals for baby. So we are all eating the same. Maybe this water thing will help me cut my snacking

amazingmumof6 Sat 25-May-13 19:18:24

welcome munch smile

how was your day? how old is BabyMunch?

amazingmumof6 Sat 25-May-13 19:28:42

finished 3rd bottle.

result? endless trip to the loo.

reminds of being pg! grin

munchkinmaster Sat 25-May-13 22:09:25

Little munch is 13 months. So there is no such thing as toddler weight!

amazingmumof6 Sat 25-May-13 22:21:44

ah, so is my girl!smile

munchkinmaster Sun 26-May-13 07:29:44

I'm one pint down (I'm imperial old school). Little munch currently emptying the dirty clothes out of the washing machine - I've a great day ahead!

Oh she's back with a pair of tights worn like a scarf - nice

Whale2Waif Sun 26-May-13 07:53:20

I'll join, I've really not been drinking as much as normal/I should.

Drank 3 litres yesterday without any effort so we shall see how today goes.

Had 250ml whilst reading this thread. Very interested to see how this goes.

amazingmumof6 Sun 26-May-13 09:47:11

hi Whalesmile

3 litres is fantastic, yesterday I just about managed half of that. wink

Today I don't feel like drinking any water at all.
I have to decorate some cupcakes, so I'll make it into a challenge - I will have to finish 1st bottle by the time I'm done.

here we go <glug glug glug aaah>

amazingmumof6 Sun 26-May-13 09:50:24

grin at little Munch!

babyZing has learnt to shake her head.
"do you love Mummy?" - shakes head
"do you love Daddy?" - shakes head
"do you love shaking your head? " - shakes head.

great game! grin

Niknakpaddywhack Sun 26-May-13 10:26:18

grin @ babyZing!

I have only just got up shock cos I'm full of a cold and slept badly last night, so will go and pour a nice cold glass of water to start my day.

Whale 3litres is amazing! (But were you up all night peeing?! Sorry if too personal blush)

Whale2Waif Sun 26-May-13 10:41:30

grin No not up all night thankfully. I'd had a couple of drinks the night before which I never do so my body really needed water.

amazingmumof6 Sun 26-May-13 11:42:42

niknak do you take echinacea? try tablets, or drops or throat spray ( I use the A.Vogel brand), they reslly help.
or you could buy Twinings' raspberry and echinacea tea.
hope you get better soon!

cuddly I'll try to find your thread lat.

done first bottle.

amazingmumof6 Sun 26-May-13 11:45:47

oop, ignore cuddly comment! should've posted elsewhere, but
DH was bothering me.
I need a sleep.

GibberTheMonkey Sun 26-May-13 11:58:39

I started drinking half amount of water before every meal a while back
It definitely worked, I ate less and still felt full. Found I drank as much as normal at other times too

amazingmumof6 Sun 26-May-13 14:57:39

that's very interesting, thanks for posting.
did you loose weight during that time?

munchkinmaster Sun 26-May-13 23:00:01

So drank the water and it did decrease snacking as I made myself drink a pint first.

Let's see if I keep it up

Doodledumdums Mon 27-May-13 00:15:03

Oooh oooh ooooh I want to join, sign me up! I have two stone (at least!) to lose, and this water diet sounds like a great idea!

I am TERRIBLE at drinking, sometimes I can literally get to 4pm and realise that I have not had a drink all day, which I know is terrible for my kidneys etc. I am currently ebfing my 4.5mo, but I think that my lack of drinking may be affecting my milk supply, so even of this doesn't help with weight loss then hopefully it will help with milk production.

One question, I am not a fan of water on its own...can we add sugar free squash? I know that squash is very frowned upon on MN, but I can't help liking it!!

By the way, I LOVE your enthusiasm Zing, you sound really fun and friendly!

Excited to join the water club grin

amazingmumof6 Mon 27-May-13 03:20:06

hi doodle welcome!

I have to say I was told that sugarfree anything is really not idea while bf, because of the artificial sweeteners can affect baby badly.
Mine would have really frothy poo so I just cut it out.

I'm not arguing with your choices, but saying, just in case you haven't heard yet! smile

What I'm trying to do is to drink up to 2 litres of water everyday (eventually) - then anything else on top of that is fine.

I really struggled today to finish my target, which for my first week I set as 1.5 litres/day.
I was definitely less hungry than usual, though it didn't stop me from eating birthday cake washed down with a huge mug of coffee!

So please feel free to do whatever you want, but my idea is to consume some pure water everyday.
Does that sound good?

I actually drank some of it warm today, because I was inside and felt very cold.

As you are bf, you could set a target of drinking say 200ml of water (just water!) during each feed - it will definitely help with the milk production!

(and as you don't like it so much, just do it for baby!wink)

amazingmumof6 Mon 27-May-13 03:23:13

oh doodle and thanks for lovely compliments!

Water Club - I like it!

The first rule of Water Club is that you DO talk about Water Club! grin

Niknakpaddywhack Mon 27-May-13 09:17:31

I too love your enthusiasm Zing!

Doodledumdums I remember that when I was bf (many, many years ago) I had to drink loads or it affected my milk supply. Have you tried a squeeze of lemon/orange juice and ice and a slice to make your water more palatable?

Good luck today everyone- got to go to work now but will take a bottle with me!

amazingmumof6 Mon 27-May-13 12:59:45

how's everyone today?
I've just got up and feel parched.

baby's having a nap so I can get on with tasks.

I REALLY want to weigh myself to see if there's any difference, but determined to wait until Friday.
battles fought with myself are the hardest.

GibberTheMonkey Mon 27-May-13 14:53:38

Sorry busy weekend
It was supplied to say half a pint of water before each meal and yes I did lose weight. Not dramatically but it was going down. I'm not technically overweight though, just at the top of my range and feeling a bit big. I also wasnt doing anything else different
Good luck
It's definitely the way I would go if I need to lose again

Dontwanttobeyourmonkeywrench Mon 27-May-13 17:26:08

managed 3x750ml bottles yesterday and on my 2nd one today. I find that sipping seems to stop me from snacking so I'm taking sips when I feel peckish but not hungry.

GibberTheMonkey Mon 27-May-13 17:39:16

My name seems apt. I keep typing gibberish

NomDeClavier Mon 27-May-13 17:56:18

Well I am pregnant and not drinking enough so I'm joining your let's drink water club! Drunk maybe a litre today, which isn't enough. I used to be so good!

I should probably also try to avoid constant snacking so replacing it with constant water is probably a good plan.

I'll be sticking to regular mealtimes though.

amazingmumof6 Mon 27-May-13 21:20:29

hi Nom

glad you're here! when's baby due?

did you know that the amniotic fluid is completely renewed every 24 hours? now that is a good reason to drink water regularly!smile

I'm impressed with everyone's efforts!
I'm halfway through the 3rd bottle so task almost complete.

I do wonder about my weigh-in on Friday, AF's here, which always affects my weight anyway.

I'd be happy with even half a pound off! we shall see!wink

QueenOfHalloween Mon 27-May-13 22:01:02

Well done guys. Would you believe i had to download an app for the android store to remind me to drink water! I'm now making a effort to drink at least 2litres a day. Although i failed miserably on Saturday. I just wish my bladder would get used to the addition of the water and stop me having to visit the loo every 2 mins!

Niknakpaddywhack Mon 27-May-13 22:32:30

Yes - well done everyone. I haven't had a good day remembering to drink water today - will try to get back on the wagon tomorrow!

I'm due AF too so feeling quite bloated but will try to persevere, however we're away from tomorrow until Sunday so will catch up with you all then.

Good luck with your Friday weigh-in Zing.

Doodledumdums Tue 28-May-13 00:45:49

Ooooh I hadn't heard that about artificial sweeteners....hmmmm, perhaps I should avoid them then!

That is a good idea niknak- I think I will add ice and a slice to my water to make it more palatable. That must be better than squash.

I didn't do very well today i'm afraid , I managed probably about a litre, but that is all I think. I think I will get a big 1.5ltr bottle tomorrow and fill it up in the morning and make it my mission to finish it. I had a very fractious (teething!) baby today, so that is my excuse for failing day one of water club.

I promise I will do better tomorrow!

Well done everyone grin

recall Tue 28-May-13 00:56:27

Watching with interest…..any weight loss yet ? or too early to tell? ( excited )

I am joining.

I am doing mfp too. Only lost 2lbs though. And I need to get back into drinking water. I feel dehydrated most of the time. I too could go a whole day without drinking a drop.

So from tomorrow I shall be sipping!

amazingmumof6 Tue 28-May-13 09:06:56

goog morning Water Club! welcome newbies!smile

it's funny how such a simple thing is actually quite hard to do!
To remember it, then to do it!

I'd like to say that there's no such thing as failure here.
ANY amount of water is better than none!

so if you manage 2 glasses/ day just do that say for a week. then increase it to 3 glasses etc.

I noticed that I've actually started to feel thirsty and I just go by that.

But it is so easy to ignore the signals of thirst. and with busy lives we get distracted so we go, ok I'll drink some water in a minute.
then 6 hours later we realize we've done nothing!

carrying my bottle around does help with instant access!

Sipping through first bottle of the day.
Good luck everyone, be focused!wink

Kneedeepindaisies Tue 28-May-13 09:12:14

I'm watching with interest too. I definitely don't drink enough water and I need to lose weight!

Bertrude Tue 28-May-13 09:15:23

Increased water intake = increased activity levels through additional pee trips wink so getting more towards your 10,000 steps a day.

Over the last couple of years I've managed to get myself to drink 2-3 litres a day minimum (hot climate so need the extra) and I find the easy way is to make sure you have plenty available easily. I'm sitting here with 4 x 500ml bottles on my desk for the day (2 down already but its 12:15pm here). One will be taken for my drive home. Then a 750ml flask for during Zumba later and a pint glass taken to bed with me.

Whale2Waif Tue 28-May-13 11:20:59

After only drinking 2 pints yesterday I went this morning and bought a 1.5l bottle. I have it open next to me whilst watching biggest loser and I've nearly finished the bottle.

amazingmumof6 Tue 28-May-13 22:42:34

on 4th bottle now!

I don't know whether it's due to my AF or really miserable weather, but I was hungry like a wolf all day.
had 3 big meals and no snacks.

It wasn't boredom, I was busy all day. I was actually hungry and still am. I will probably have a light meal.
no idea what's going on.

Haven't had any headaches for days, very unusual as I'm prone to them ( and migraines too).

amazingmumof6 Tue 28-May-13 22:48:36

and although I deliberately haven't started eating way healthier ( kebab last night, burger & chips for lunch!) I feel like I might.

today I really fancied some roasted butternut squash & courgettes with splash of garlic oil, but couldn't go shopping.
I think my body is fed up eating rubbish. literally.

The day I give up mayo , if ever, will be a turning point. not ready yet.

Doodledumdums Wed 29-May-13 00:42:03

I am also not ready to give up mayo...don't think I ever will be to be honest!

Whale2Waif Wed 29-May-13 09:45:12

See, this it's why I'm fat. Mayo and no willpower, however this morning I gave in to a different temptation. The scales.

amazingmumof6 Wed 29-May-13 09:56:54

whale (whispering): I did that too!
after my crazy apettite yesterday I judt had too. sssshhhhh

morning all!

last night I had a bit more water, but didn't wake up to go to the loo.

DH upset me this morning and my immediate reaction was to eat chocolate or icecream for breakfast, but I clutched my water bottle instead and resisted the urge.
1 bottle done.
not hungry, but bloody annoyed.angry

Whale2Waif Wed 29-May-13 11:50:35

amazing are you an emotional eater too?

I was quite pleased with the scales. 1lb off but needed after spending bank holiday stuffing my face with cake entertaining family.

Dontwanttobeyourmonkeywrench Wed 29-May-13 17:52:46

I did well today (3 bottles down) but I'll need it even more tomorrow since I'm heading out for a girly night with my mates and we have loads to celebrate! I find that the more I drink the less I feel the need to snack. Total emotional eater, especially when bored so trying to keep busy. Painted my nails so now can't snack till they dry grin

amigababy Wed 29-May-13 18:13:43

not ready to join yet as I'm on holiday and it's just easier to wait till I get home on Saturday. But, daft me, I had a tea tree and pomegranate soft drink yesterday and the plastic bottle is such great quality I've kept it ( closet hoarder ) so it will be my 500 XML bottle of choice.

harryhausen Wed 29-May-13 18:53:59

I'll join you oOP

I've been trying a virtual gastric band app. It seems to sink in for a few days and then I self sabotageconfused
Anyway, on that system the main rule is to drink 2 liters of water a day. Basically, it does stop you snacking, picking and mistaking thirst for hunger etc. On the vgb support FB page, people have lost stones and stones. Mainly through the water thing (and smaller portion sizes because of it).

Like you, I'm on holiday in the sun for the first time in 10 years. The thought of being in a swim suit is actually stopping me getting excited about it. In fact I'm terrified. And it's so sad because me and DH really need this holiday to relax. I need to loose 4 stone, but would be happy with 2. I'm going at the end of August.

harryhausen Wed 29-May-13 18:59:35

I'm definitely an emotional eater. I can wait and wait until proper hunger signals....then can't stop and end up binging.

I have tried every diet out there. I have a very sedentary job. I need to exercise. The only way to fit it in is to get up an hour earlier. I should do that. Definitely.

amazingmumof6 Wed 29-May-13 19:18:32

amiga and harry - welcome both of you!

this is very informal and we'll be here when you are ready.
I've only managed 1 litre so far, but will do my target 1.5 by the end of the day.

It is so nice that it is the only thing I have to focus on.

whale I'll do my proper weigh in on Friday and will let you all know, but today's cheat is encouraging. that's all I'm going to reveal.

Another thing, I almost never have breakfast. it's a very bad habit if mine, but I just don't feel hungry until about 11am. some days I can go without food till 1pm or even 3pm.

today I was actually hungry at about 10am, but had to go out, so had a massive sandwich at noon because by then I was ravenous and felt light headed (had half a baguette with ham, avocado, mozzarella and bbq sauce, was delicious!) and only had an almond croissant since (that was the emotional eating talking!).

I actually think that drinking this much water is starting to give my body a chance to give me the signals when I'm actually hungry - if that makes sense.
And when it does I feel absolutely starving. that is new and encouraging.

tomorrow I will try to eat breakfast as soon as I'm hungry.
eating breakfast with 30 mins-1h of waking up is apparently one of the good habits slim people have.

and I keep meaning to say: thank you all for joining - or watching, it is so nice to have buddies instead of struggling alone!

CaptainSweatPants Wed 29-May-13 19:21:05

Hi guys

Sorry to be thick but is 4 x 500ml bottles = 2 litres?

amazingmumof6 Wed 29-May-13 19:24:04

yes captain, it is.

I'll copy out some convertion for you in a minute

CaptainSweatPants Wed 29-May-13 19:29:46

That's fab thanks
I take a 500ml bottle to work so now I know how many times to refill it !

amazingmumof6 Wed 29-May-13 19:35:00

1 litre = 1000 ml

( 1 litre of water weighs 1kgs ( 1000 grams) as a lot of metric measurements are based on with different aspects of properties of water.
it was decided that the degree water freezes should be 0 Celsius degree, boiling point will be a hundred and just divided the rest in between accordingly and so on.)

1 pint = 568 ml

so if you drink 4 pints of water a day, you drink slightly more than 2 litres.

amazingmumof6 Thu 30-May-13 15:14:49

today had been challenging.

Yesterday I had a very bad day and just couldn't fall asleep again.

consequently today I'm very tired and snappy and stuck inside with all the kids who are doing my head in.

I only started drinking water after about 11am, by then I was picking bits of food but no proper breakfast as was hoping too. it is unbelievable the how kids can distract me from doing anything really.

I just want to eat cake, to feel better. good thing I don't have any.

it is quite cold here again, heating's on, but my toes are still freezing. I think I'll make some soup to warm me up - and take my mind off cake.

2 bottles done, but what a struggle.

Emilythornesbff Thu 30-May-13 16:48:06

How's it going amazingmum ?
Have you weighed yourself or is it too soon?
I read your post and have been trying to drink more water.
Doing 5:2 but still, need to hydrate myself and you have inspired me.

And I can't seem to do anything when DCs are awake either. I don't know how some ppl manage. smile
Thanks for the thread

harryhausen Thu 30-May-13 18:25:45

I've only managed 750ml on my first day so far. I'll have to go some this eve!

amazingmumof6 Thu 30-May-13 19:16:15

very sloooow day,
I'm now getting quite exhausted - hence just had a hot choc and an almond croissant. proper comfort eating.
plus hot choc warmed me up a bit.

I'm going to weigh on Friday and I'm worried that there will be no positive difference.

I'm just not feeling it today - it's crazy how such a seemingly simple and easy thing is just so difficult to do on certain days!

I think I'm a bit bored as well, which is also another thing that usually makes me want to eat.

list of things that make me want to eat/overeat - other than actual hunger:
- tired
- bored
- stressed & frustrated
- sad
- happy
- watching telly and seeing food adverts
- travelling
- being at a party/coz it's there
- angry
- eating up leftovers

that's about it.

no wonder I'm overweight!

I'm bloody minded though and will finish what I started.
I think I just need a good night sleep so I can be more focused tomorrow.

well done for all your achievements so far, you give me strength just by telling me how you are getting on!

thank you!

nice to see you here EmilyThornesbbf! wink <waves>

amazingmumof6 Thu 30-May-13 21:58:46

finished 3rd bottle, just drank the whole thing in one go. done.
ended up starting a 4th..

I think it's good that I could stick to 1.5 litres/day so far, but I feel it's actually not enough.

from Friday my target will be 3.5 bottles/day (about 1.75 l).
1.5 l is not enough, 2 l is too much, somewhere in between seems manageable.

going to bed soon. nightnight!

amazingmumof6 Fri 31-May-13 10:37:35

DH decided to work from home today so I had a nice lie-in!

just got up and stepped on scales.

<drumroll please!>

I lost 1.2 kgs! yay!
(that is about 3 lbs)
I'm really happy about that!smile

anyone else weighing today or at the weekend?

Whale2Waif Fri 31-May-13 13:07:58

Well done. I'm not going to weigh again now this week so this week will be going down as 1lb.

Emilythornesbff Fri 31-May-13 14:48:07

Whoop whoop amazingmum
Well done.

amazingmumof6 Sat 01-Jun-13 16:23:46

today I woke up too early to go someplace with a friend and it turned out to be an utter waste of time.
I have a stonking headache.

kids and I decorated loads of gingerbread biscuits for tomorrow's party - I still have a cake to bake but nap first.

I know these are not typical slimming subjects, but there is not that much I can say about drinking water when there's no one else around.
where are you all?

1 litre done so far

I wonder if my headache is to do with being tired or it's a reaction to getting re-hydrated.

I think it will be weird to keep chatting to myself, without company, but it helps me focus.

Coooooeeeeee, I'm here. Flying visit to mark place as himself is making noises about his dinner so best go and feed him. Back in a bit x

amazingmumof6 Sat 01-Jun-13 16:57:18

nice one Blue!wink

I've been low carbing and lost nothing until I made a conscious effort to drink water, aiming for 3l a day which is surprisingly easy. I've had 2.5l today. You just need to be conscious about it.

amazingmumof6 Sat 01-Jun-13 17:13:13

wise words Ehric
<nodding in agreement>

how much have you lost so far?

Oh only 2lbs but that is since the weekend and I'm in my 3rd week of it. I was only drinking tea before!

specialsubject Sat 01-Jun-13 17:43:18

sounds like cutting out the pepsi and hot chocolate, (both solid sugar) and replacing them with calorie-free water is working. :-)

amigababy Sat 01-Jun-13 20:32:43

I'm back from holiday so hopefully will start drinking the water tomorrow.
But today has been weird, think I woke up with food poisoning or something so I've not eaten or drunk anything at all while coming home, i felt way too dodgy. I'm just trying a cup of tea now to see how I feel.

amazingmumof6 Sun 02-Jun-13 18:56:33

hello everyone!

today I have drank 1 litre so far.

we had a very busy, running around day and less access to the toilets meant I had to delay drinking water to certain times - it messed with me a bit!

I'm really tired now and just want to have a bath and an early night - I've eaten so much at the Coronation Party we went to that I can't bear the thought of eating anything else today.

I've decided that 3 things, starting tomorrow:

1, I'll have a bottle of water as soon as I get up. I didn't do it today as I was so busy and really missed it!

2. I'll have breakfast either before school run or straight after.
This will be a massive challenge for me as I don't normally feel hungry until near noon, but habits are learnt and so can be re-learnt - I'm positive that after a few weeks this problem will be sorted.

3. I'll try to eat soup most days for lunch. that worked really well when I was doing weight watchers - soups are fairly easy and quick to make (especially from frozen veg!) and they fill me up, another trick to reduce the cravings and picking/grazing/nibbling.

right, I'm determined.

going to a party in 5 weeks and I hope to loose at least 1lb/ week by then.

I don't agree with the must eat breakfast orthodoxy. If you aren't hungry then just drink more water and wait for lunch.

amazingmumof6 Mon 03-Jun-13 11:09:47

I woke up with a sore throat and fuzzy head and was feeling sick last night which has not stopped.

I'm just so full of snot (sorry).

it might just be the cold, but I wonder if my body is trying to get rid of all the gunk I've been struggling with (chronic sinusitis and frequent upper respiratory infections).

( I'm definitely not pg, otherwise I'd think It's morning sickness, I feel really bleugh)

I had one ginger biscuit, but I feel so sick I can not think of food.
not good as I'm getting quite hungry.

I'll be drinking warm water today, as I just don't want anything cold.

amigababy Mon 03-Jun-13 11:15:53

Hi amazing hope you feel better soon and cab have a quiet day to recover.
I'm starting today, had 1 litre so far. I like the idea of Home made soup, I'm a lentil fan and might get the slow cooker out, nice and easy. I need to go shopping first, I'm back from holiday and the cupboards are nearly empty.

amazingmumof6 Mon 03-Jun-13 11:26:16

thanks amigababy I really want to go to bed, but have to post Ebay stuff and sew things for a friend that I promised weeks ago and it can not be delayed any longer.

glad you are getting started, I love lentils too, they are fab with butternut squash and leeks

Hope you feel better soon, Amazing.
I've had a cereal bar on playground duty and a rather nice bowl of spinach soup with a smidgeon of stilton melted into it for lunch.
Chicken wrapped in bacon with vegetables for tea later on. Finding the water bit harder than I thought now I'm back at school. Might have to dig out my water bottle and take it in!

amazingmumof6 Tue 04-Jun-13 13:12:45

thanks blue , echinacea started to kick in.
I didn't sleep much last night and my head feels fuzzy, but I have finished one bottle of water already.

I also feel sick so have zero appetite - well I guess that's one way to loose weightgrin

I wonder how everyone else is doing.

amigababy Tue 04-Jun-13 17:07:54

just starting second litre, not drinking very fast. also getting over a tummy bug, I feel miles better, but still not hungry. I'm imagining this is what naturally slim people feel like all the time smile

I sort of hope it lasts, its nice not being bothered by food once you feel well again.

amazingmumof6 Wed 05-Jun-13 23:46:29

sorry, I abandoned threas today, DH had bilateral hernia op today, so I was wrapped up with that.

had gallons of tea, very little water.
not sure what happens tomorrow but I'll have to focus on him.
whatever Friday weigh-in brings will be fine with me.

I know I've eaten less again this week than I did 2 weeks ago.
I'll do my best tomorrow.

on Friday I'll up the target to 2 litres and will get back in the game properly.

amazingmumof6 Fri 07-Jun-13 07:50:55

no drumroll today, I put on a bit of weight since last week.

which doesn't surprise me as I spent the last 2 days drinking tea & not enough water.

I have to say it's not nice to admit that I failed this week.
I feel like a fool.

but this set back won't stop me from trying again.

(the only problem is that I still have a very sore throat and just don't feel like drinking water. . .
frustrating. )

amazingmumof6 Sat 08-Jun-13 18:46:12

ah, I lost momentum.

I was so enthusiastic, but since Wednesday I kind of started caring less and less.

I feel crap right now.

Niknakpaddywhack Sun 09-Jun-13 13:38:39

Oh - so sorry you're feeling crap amazingmumof6 sad You were so motivated.

But it is hard when you feel ill, so please DO NOT feel like a fool. You have had so much going on as well, with your dh's op and not feeling well yourself, that sometimes other things have to take priority.

It is NOT a failure, it is a temporary blip (that's what I keep telling myself as I lost motivation and fell off the wagon due to lot's of 'stuff' going on at home.)

I really hope you're feeling better today flowers

amazingmumof6 Sun 09-Jun-13 14:10:22

thanks niknak!

you are so sweet, don't ever leave me!grin

I've just had my first bottle ( I sound like a toddler orcan alki!grin ) half an hour ago.
but upon reading your encouraging words I quickly put away another one! thank you so much!smile

you arw right. blip's over.
1 litre done and I will finish my target today!

I feel better now.

amazingmumof6 Sun 09-Jun-13 14:10:46

or an

Beamae Sun 09-Jun-13 17:01:47

I went for a massage once and afterwards they gave me a glass of cucumber water. It was delicious. Literally, they just had a jug of ice water with some slices of cucumber thrown in. Might be an idea to break up all the watery water tasting water!

Niknakpaddywhack Sun 09-Jun-13 18:11:52

Hey - well done you!!! See- you're amazing!

Really great idea Beamae I will definitely try that.

I have also bought lots of lemons and limes this week to encourage me to drink more water so hopefully will get back on track too.

amazingmumof6 Sun 09-Jun-13 21:50:36

2 litre done, feels good!

thanks Bea cucumber water sounds good, I must make space in freezer for ice cubes.

I've tried the same with lemon and orange slices before. both lovely.

again, thanks for support, I do need a kick in the butt from time to time.grin

Whale2Waif Mon 10-Jun-13 09:32:44

Me and my trusty nurture are still here although I have been a little distracted.
Thurs 4.5l (it was really hot)
Fri 1.5l
Sat 2l

No idea if I've lost weight due to new scales and AF but my skin feels amazing!

Whale2Waif Mon 10-Jun-13 09:33:16

Bottle not nurture hmm

amazingmumof6 Mon 10-Jun-13 13:23:02

that's great whale!

so cold in here

that's me, blue with cold

amazingmumof6 Tue 11-Jun-13 10:03:49

prodding along today.

had to go out unexpectedly and wait in a car looking after a friends son, so I dare not to drink anything right now!

I have to wait till we get back home, around noon to carry on.getting qiite thirsty

amazingmumof6 Wed 12-Jun-13 15:41:15

prodding along today as well

nothing exciting to report.

Niknakpaddywhack Wed 12-Jun-13 19:24:50

I've been trying to replace cups of tea with hot or cold water with lemon/lime/cucumber today but I do have to think about what I'm doing each day as to how much I drink - it seems to go through me very quickly!!

I haven't noticed any difference weight-wise but my skin seems to be clearer so that's a plus!

I'm hoping it will also increase my energy levels? But as I've not been sleeping very well lately I haven't noticed an improvement as yet.

How's everyone else getting on?

amazingmumof6 Thu 13-Jun-13 19:37:15

I changed tactics.
I have a 2 litre Pepsi bottle in the kitchen, filled with water.
that's where I am most of the time.

Every time I go in there I have a lot of big gulps - kind of pretending to be Joey from Friends ( when he "proves" that he can drink a gallon of milk in a minute.)

it's seems to be working.
I always have a small bottle to carry around.
Tomorrow weigh in - not so hopefulconfused

Whale2Waif Fri 14-Jun-13 00:11:56

I've lost weight at last! 3lb since we started.

Skin better, moods more stable, not as sleepy. Liking this watery thing, at least I can honestly tell my clients I believe in the benefits of drinking more water.

amazingmumof6 Fri 14-Jun-13 00:22:57

wow, that is brilliant!

amazingmumof6 Fri 14-Jun-13 13:00:05

I was in suvh a rush I almost forgot to weigh myselfshock

just shows how relaxed I'm, instead of worrying about loosing weight and hopping on the scales all the time!

even with putting a bit on last week I've still lost 1.4 kg in 3 weeks! ( just over 3 lbs)

I'm very pleased with that!

the 2 l bottle trick is working, it's so big and in my face I can't avoid it!

[ chuffed]

Niknakpaddywhack Fri 14-Jun-13 18:56:31

Well done Whale2Waif and amazingmumof6!!!
That is great!
Giving me inspiration to continue.

amazingmumof6 Fri 14-Jun-13 20:02:19

that's right niknak you get on with it, you really helped me the other day, so I'm here to support you too!smile

and anyone else, but looks like it's the 3 of us for nowgrin

Dontwanttobeyourmonkeywrench Sat 15-Jun-13 15:21:11

Found this thread! I thought I had lost it. Put on my watch list now grin

Went to see a personal trainer last week and had my health assessment. I'm really dehydrated even though I was drinking 1.5l but he says it was being wiped out by the amount of tea and coffee I was drinking blush I cut out both for 3 1/2 days and felt really good but fell off wagon and had a brew. Cue massive headache so back to peppermint tea (even though it makes me vvvv windy blush). had one illicit brew this morning and felling a bit blah so I think I really need to cut it out. Still 2 cups in 1 week is a record for me!

amazingmumof6 Sun 16-Jun-13 16:45:06

excellent progress monkey, and great you're back!wink

I've got to take some nurofen, got stonking headache

I've not been reaching my target as it's been so cold, but today is warmer, and I'm halfway there!

amazingmumof6 Mon 17-Jun-13 19:05:08

just finished 2litres of water - for the 2nd time only, in 3 weeks.

I think the trick for me is to have glass as soon as I get up - it's like starting a chain reaction, the more water I drink, the more I crave.

sophialewis Tue 18-Jun-13 07:48:20

Drinking 2 litres of water everyday is actually good for your health and fitness. Water can cleanse your body, helps in digestion and flush out the impurities from your body. Water also soothes your skin and helps in rejuvenation. Water is essential for the proper functioning of your muscles and organs.

I appreciate you for drinking 2 litres of water daily. But with that if you make a little adjustment with your food intake you can really lose weight. I know that you are a busy mom, still I'm not asking you to calculate your portions of pasta,

sophialewis Tue 18-Jun-13 08:21:16

Drinking 2 litres of water everyday is very helpful in maintaining your health and fitness. Water cleanses the body, helps in digestion and fleshes out the impurities from your body, thereby helping you lose weight. Water also helps in rejuvenation of our skin. And its true that some time we mistake our thirst by hunger and eat more. So drinking water can control your hunger pangs too!

I appreciate you for drinking 2litres of water daily, still if you make small changes in your eating habits, I'm not asking you to calculate the portions of pasta you eat, but to cut down the portion size that you're taking regularly.

It will be difficult to be in a diet while going to a friends' or have guests or traveling, so those days can be exempted from your diet, the rest of the days' maintain a eating pattern or cut down the portion size.

I've seen in a few discussions, some Moms going for a walk out with their babies in strollers. Some of them even carry triplets in their strollers which count some heavy pounds. And its actually a good exercise for Mommies and will also get time to be with the babies. I'm sure the baby is gonna love her walk out smile and Mommy is gonna lose weight wink

sophialewis Tue 18-Jun-13 08:39:55

Please ignore my first post here as I hit the ''Post Message'' button accidentally, before completing my reply.

Niknakpaddywhack Tue 18-Jun-13 21:19:39

I'm enjoying starting the day with hot water with lemon slices now- really don't miss my usual cup of tea. I'm also getting into the habit of making icecubes as I think they help me to enjoy plain water more.

How you doing today zing? And Whale and Monkey? (sounds like a zoo?!)

amazingmumof6 Tue 18-Jun-13 23:01:47

haha Niknak I thought zoo as well, your name sounds like zebras galloping hooves (niknak niknak) and I dunno, I could be and exotic bird?

should rename thread - the Waterzoo!grin

was at sports day all day, so didn't manage my quota, but didn't eat/snack much either ( apart from a few jaffa cakes just now!)

I felt slimmer today though -very odd feeling!wink

Sophie thanks for advice, every word is true! smile

Whale2Waif Wed 19-Jun-13 17:55:04

Loving waterzoo, amazing you could be zoo keeper. I'm sure having 6DC more than qualifies you for the job.

I'm drinking 1 or 2 1.5l bottles a day. Eating has been appalling but got back on track with that today so feeling positive.

amazingmumof6 Wed 19-Jun-13 20:49:25

almost finished 2 litres.

it's been a hot day.

Niknakpaddywhack Wed 19-Jun-13 21:05:43

It has been a lovely warm day today- though I'm not sure I've drunk enough as I've been in and out all day and not found the time. Must try harder.

Goldensunnydays81 Thu 20-Jun-13 07:43:36

Hello can I come and join you! Read the thread 2 nights ago and it gave me a bit if a kick up the bum to start sorting myself out! I'm a bit like you amazing in that I am waiting until September to get back on the diet properly but until then I am going to concentrate on drinking more water and eating more fruit and veg.
Yesterday i managed my 2 litres of water and weeed for England grin but it was good tho. Am also starting my mornings of with a massive mug of hot water and lemon
Well done on your losses so far and hopefully will be joining you soon

amazingmumof6 Thu 20-Jun-13 08:06:18

hi golden!

glad you are here and good plan!wink

I ate something bad yesterday and feel really sick.
I'm having brew for now, hopefully I can drink some water later.
I'm getting the kids ready for school, then I might just have to lie down.
I feel awful!

Goldensunnydays81 Thu 20-Jun-13 13:54:47

How as you feeling now amazing? Hope you aren't too ill!

amazingmumof6 Thu 20-Jun-13 22:42:44

thanks golden a bit better, but couldn't face any water today.

it seems I can do really well for a week, then I get distracted. it alternates like that.

started 4 weeks ago, and will weigh again tomorrow.
I think even a pound loss is better than nothing, considering I made no effort to eat healthier or exercise more!
we shall see.

amazingmumof6 Thu 20-Jun-13 22:44:23

it was cream that caused the trouble, must have been slightly off last night.
sniffed what was left of it in fridge this afternoon - bleurgh!

Goldensunnydays81 Fri 21-Jun-13 07:55:01

How did the weigh in go? Rubbish about the cream tho!
Managed my 2 litres yesterday done the same as you and filled up a 2 litre bottle and am just sat drinking my mug of warm. Think I am going to struggle a bit today tho as it is working day today at our cafe which is fine but it is on a beach and about a 10 minute walk away from the nearest toilet shock oh well i shall try!

amazingmumof6 Fri 21-Jun-13 12:40:10

I put on a bit, but I don't mind.

in all honesty I think my scales are broken.
the display bit looked weird last week ( when I lost a bit) and it weighed itself this morning when I switched it on!

I supposed to lightly tap it, but had to really whack it a few times lately to switch it on at all.

I'm buying a new one next week, and start a fresh.

been out all morning so had no water so farshock blush
will start after lunch

amazingmumof6 Fri 21-Jun-13 12:40:43

you need a portapotty! grin

Goldensunnydays81 Fri 21-Jun-13 14:35:00

Haha! Portapotty would be good! It was raining so have managed to come home early and am well on my way through the 2 litres grin
Decided I am going to join you in the Friday morning weigh in! Although wasn't to happy with my scales this morning sad
Rubbish you have got to get new ones but at least you can be sure they are accurately weighing you each week! Do you manage to resist the urge to not weigh in between?
Does anyone else emotionally eat I am really bad at it when I am stressed or upset which seems to be lots of the time at the moment! Just need to find a way to snap out of it!

amazingmumof6 Sat 22-Jun-13 01:27:07

I bought gorgeous new scales! will post photo when delivered!

I do get tempted on Tuesdays, but by Friday I almost forget to do itgrin

Goldensunnydays81 Sun 23-Jun-13 09:20:16

Had a water drinking fail yesterday! ManAged about 500 ml confused but am back on it today! Felt rubbish yesterday!
How is everyone else getting on! Where did you get your scales from amazing? We're they expensive?

amazingmumof6 Sun 23-Jun-13 10:24:33

I'll link it later.
they are Salter ones, with union flag design.
I ordered 2 for both bathrooms £7.99 each plus p&p.

they arrived on Saturday and are awesome!

amazingmumof6 Sun 23-Jun-13 10:31:13

and I weighed again this morning - I lost 3lb and a quarter in a month!

not dieting, no extra exercise!
no buying, preparing, cooking, weighing and eating special food just for me!
no counting points, no stress, no guilt!
and I still lost weight!
and I haven't even drank my daily quotas every day!

(and had chicken kebab with chips last night!)

not bad!wink

Fairygen Wed 26-Jun-13 17:28:36

Hi, I'm following Paul McKenna's hypnotic garlic band and really need to up my water intake. I've become a bit of a coffee addict, so would really like to cut down on the caffeine and replace some of it with water.

Great that you've managed to lose weight just by water.

Fairygen Wed 26-Jun-13 17:29:20

Hypnotic GASTRIC band!!! Autocorrect!!

amazingmumof6 Wed 26-Jun-13 19:10:26

grin although I do like the idea of a Garlic Band!

like a rock band of vegetables?

I don't know about hypnotic stuff, I'm sceptical about those things.

have you lost weight with it?

amazingmumof6 Wed 26-Jun-13 19:11:36

and thanks! Haven't been drinking my target lately as I keep forgettingblush

Goldensunnydays81 Wed 26-Jun-13 19:29:23

Can you tell I have been rubbish the last few days! Haven't posted on here as I have felt rubbish about not sticking to my target of 2 litres a day and have eaten too much chocolate confused
Love the sound of a garlic band he he! Do you think it is working? I have got the Paul McKenna CDs ( I can make you thin) that I found helped a lot with not picking at rubbish food! Must start with those again too!
How's everyone else getting on? Amazing have your scales arrived?

Fairygen Wed 26-Jun-13 19:42:17

Tbh, this is my second time round with the band. The first time I lost a stone in a month, but didn't use the tapping technique he gives you to make you feel good. After about 6 weeks I gave up because I was so miserable. I think I also over used the cd, it actually worked too well!!

This time I'm following it 100% and feel great.

amazingmumof6 Wed 26-Jun-13 19:55:01

hi Golden

you see the idea of this thread is to keep posting whether you are having a good day or a bad one!

I try to post everyday, just to remind myself or put my plan in writing, so it's more black and white than just thinking it.

my DD has been ill since Saturday, and the really annoying thing is that if I kept drinking lots of water everyday I would probably cope better.

but I keep forgetting and live on chocolate (are you my twin?grin) so I make things worse.
just had burgers and chips for dinner, takeaway as I'm too exhausted to cook. so now I can't drink water, I'd be sick.

I do what I used to do at Weight Watchers - draw a line underneath and start afresh.

tomorrow is another day.

amazingmumof6 Wed 26-Jun-13 19:56:06

221193087663 that is the item number of the scales on Ebay, can't link photo.

Scales are lovely!

amazingmumof6 Thu 27-Jun-13 21:38:54

I should be ashamed of myself. I drank hardly any water in the last few days - and the next two days I'll be out a lot, toilet access is limited, so I really can't tank up with water.

my apologies to let anyone down.

I'm starting afresh on Sunday.

amazingmumof6 Fri 28-Jun-13 10:01:42

I have put on a bit. quite predictable.

annoying, but it doesn't matter that much. I'm going to drink the 2 litres today, I'm determined.

anyone else is struggling?

or doing well?

amazingmumof6 Mon 01-Jul-13 23:50:45

ooh I've been neglecting my own thread!

just finished 2 litres for today [proud]

I must carry on doing that. I really need to loose weight and be healthier.

amazingmumof6 Wed 03-Jul-13 23:27:45

did well today again, but not quite the whole lot.

it's fine.

I wish I wasn't talking to myself though.

amazingmumof6 Thu 04-Jul-13 22:35:16

today was a bad day.sad

there's always tomorrow. wink

amazingmumof6 Fri 05-Jul-13 10:21:44

weigh- day and result! I lost more weight! yay!

now it's a total weight loss of 3 kgs in 6 weeks ( almost 7 lbs).
that's a pound a week which is perefectly reasonable, slow and steady.

I'm extremely pleased with that!
I'm so glad I started this "diet" and now I'm even more motivated to carry on.

amazingmumof6 Fri 05-Jul-13 10:27:44

oh and today is sleep day as kids are at grandma's.

but I'll try my 2litres of water after my long and well-deserved nap.

I'm really happy I didn't bother with WW or any other weight loss programme.
this suits me well.
I just need to carry on.

(where's everyone?)

this thread seems to have turned into a blog...hmmm

Sorelip Fri 05-Jul-13 14:18:33

Well done amazingmumof6! You've inspired me to get my water bottle out of the cupboard and up my water intake to 2 litres a day. I really need to anyway, what with being pregnant. My aim is to not gain as much weight as I did during my first pregnancy, which ended up being 3.5 stone.

amazingmumof6 Fri 05-Jul-13 21:01:31

hi sorelip glad you are joining!

I started to feel abandoned! smile

when are you due?
tell me stuff, I check in daily!

oh and did you know that the amniotic fluid is completely replaced every 24 hours? that's why we wee so much when pg!
and that is why it is soooooo important to drink a lot of water, it makes a massive difference!

Sorelip Sat 06-Jul-13 16:52:32

Hi amazingmumof6, I'm due on 22nd December. There's not much to tell about me, I'm boring. I'm a SAHM with one DS, 18 mo. DH is murder for buying treats and leaving them around for me to eat, so I'll be cracking down on that as well.

I can't believe how hot it is. I didn't know that about amniotic fluid, that's nuts! So how are you doing?

amazingmumof6 Sun 07-Jul-13 19:05:42

it's crazy hot isn't it?

I went to birthday party last night, it was fantastic!
I don't drink alcohol, so had loads elderflower drinks and water!

today I made kiddy Pimms with apple juice, icecubes and slices of lemon, cucumber and mandarins with lunch
and just been to a tea&cake party where I drank loada of water again.
I actually feel a bit slimmer - despite all the cakes I've been scoffing!

I think when pg it is so much harder to be "good" but I found bf time much worse in terms of putting on weight and staying overweight!
I bf DD for a year, so only stopped about 10 weeks ago.
It's since then that I can even think about trying to loose weight!

and im glad the extra weight started to shift.
as long as the numbers on the scales are going down I'm happy!

Sonnet Sun 07-Jul-13 20:03:53

Can I join you all please for a week before I go on Holiday.
Far too much alcohol consumed this weekend..
Right, 1 pint poured...

redwellybluewelly Sun 07-Jul-13 20:25:46

Hi, I'm interested in this water diet!

I'm on maternity leave now until Christmas and would like to have lost the baby weight by then (purely and simply because I have to fit into my clothes!). I'm only four weeks post section and still recovering so have decided to wait until six week check to weigh myself and see the 'scale' of the problem!

I suspect though that I've gained at least three stones and its all over not just my tummy. I'm breastfeeding so loathe to try low carb or a calorie controlled diet as those really affected my supply when I was feeding my older daughter.

So - bottoms up!

Sonnet Sun 07-Jul-13 20:47:24

Just finished the pint. Will try another before bed and then it's 2 Ltrs tomorrow
Good luck all

amazingmumof6 Sun 07-Jul-13 21:05:01

sonnet and welly welcome!

yay yay for buddies!

the hot weather certainly helps to remember to drink water!

let me boss you about a bit and reiterate that the 2 litres of water must be water! <waves finger a la strict headteacher>
it must be pure, unadulterated water. not flavoured fizzy water, not fruit juice, nor tea, coffe, or diet coke!
and definitely not wine!grin

of course you can drink any of these, just don't count them in your water intake! that is the only "rule" here!smile

good luck - my next weigh-in is on Friday.

so happy you are here, I felt like I was in a cave!grin

amazingmumof6 Sun 07-Jul-13 21:07:50

oh and congratulations on BabyWelly! thanks is she or he your first?

yes, don't worry about the weight yet.
you can increase your water intake anytime.

amazingmumof6 Sun 07-Jul-13 21:08:31

oh, re-read, not first.blush

Tinwe Sun 07-Jul-13 21:27:35

Hiya! Can I join you please? I'm trying to lose my baby weight but DD is now 1 so I suppose there are other new reasons too (including a wedding in October). I've been trying to do the Paul McKenna thing of eating when I'm hungry and not when I'm not but I'm not as focused as I could be. I'm also doing the Shred. Not losing much though and I know that it's a real fault of mine that I don't drink enough and always lose weight much faster when I do so have just determined to make it a focus of mine and then I saw your thread! Would be great to have somewhere to check in and read other people's experiences when I'm needing a good buoying up. grin

redwellybluewelly Sun 07-Jul-13 21:40:08

babywelly has a three year old sister smile who is keeping us on our toes atm

Interesting what you said about artificial sweeteners? I am drinking gallons of sugar free squash and babywelly has a very farty explosive nappy habit.

When I did BIWI's low carb diet I lost a lot (dd1's baby weight) but only when I religiously drank the three liters of water a day.

amazingmumof6 Sun 07-Jul-13 22:42:58

hi tinwe

yes, absolutely!

if you read through you'll realise it's been ups and downs for me too, but it's working! wink

amazingmumof6 Sun 07-Jul-13 23:05:10

Welly I do suggest you stop consuming anything with artificial sweeteners in it.

I'm not a health nut, far from it. tonight I had a chicken kebab with chips.

but I think artificial sweeteners (ASs) should be avoided completely! Aspartame & Acesulphame (sp) are the worst.

ASs can contribute to weight gain and they are classified as toxins/ poison in some countries (and also banned!) as they have been proven to contribute to various health problems.

my osteopath said that given choice between the two he'd much rather choose ordinary sugar.

better options are:
- honey (still mainly sugar, but at least it contains antibacterial, antiviral stuff as well, especially Manuka honey)
- agave syrup (plant based and a little goes a long way)
- maple syrup
- black molasses
- xylitol (this is low calorie, but not artifical. it can cause a runny tummy, but if it's in chewing gum it can prevent toith decay)

I use Splenda tablets as it is claimed to be from sugar ( sucralose) but stopped it completely when bf.

amazingmumof6 Sun 07-Jul-13 23:06:06

Sonnet Mon 08-Jul-13 08:29:56

Agree about avoiding anything with artificial sweetners in. First 500ml down for today!

amazingmumof6 Mon 08-Jul-13 11:18:52

the race is on sonnet!grin

just putting kids down for a nap then have loads of housework to do- I'll be drinking my water every time I go in my kitchen.

Sonnet Mon 08-Jul-13 12:51:02

1.5 ltr of water so far today smile

Tinwe Mon 08-Jul-13 17:49:13

2 litres of water plus a few cups of tea too so far today. Will get more in this evening too grin

MrsHoarder Mon 08-Jul-13 18:03:11

Can I join? I have a14 mo and still have baby weight. Help that he goes to nursery a coupe if miles away so I can cycle to get him.

Anyway, 1.5 litres of water today, will have another half when I get up to cook dinner.

Tinwe Tue 09-Jul-13 07:04:03

Hi Mrs! Good to meet you and welcome smile

ZingWidge Tue 09-Jul-13 08:06:30

<twirls in front of mirror wearing new name>

<tilts head, squints>

yep, it fits!grin

yes, welcome MrsHoarder. call me Zing

ah, we have same aged babies! thing is i have baby weight leftover from when DS1 was born almost 12 years ago! grin grin

I was so tired yesterday I fell asleep in front of the TV on the sofa.

Sorelip Tue 09-Jul-13 14:15:16

I managed 1.75 litres yesterday. How is everyone doing today?

MrsHoarder Tue 09-Jul-13 14:24:20

I've had 2 litres already today because its hot and I have easy access to a tap. To be fair it will be difficult to drink any more once I've cycled to get DS until his bedtime as he steals any drinking container I have within reach.

Now onto a cup of Darjeeling before I wash away entirely.

ZingWidge Tue 09-Jul-13 19:00:06

slow, only a litre so far blush

but haven't been hungry either...

well done you all, and I'm so glad you are here, much better to have "competition"!smile

Tinwe Thu 11-Jul-13 07:53:39

Hi all! Been sticking with drinking lots and reckon I've averaged at least 2 litres of water a day if not more plus extra drinks like brews. Really stepped up my eating well and exercise plan too so if I don't see weight loss soon I'm going for lipo (joke)! grin

How's everyone else doing?

ZingWidge Thu 11-Jul-13 08:13:57

tinwe you are doing so well! I'm proud of you!

me - not so good.
going to a funeral today (DH's aunt) and the whole thing has been messing with my head.
I can't concentrate on stuff.
Although I feeI very sorry for her family, I'm not grieving as such as I wasn't very close with her IYSWIM.
but a funeral makes you reflect, so that's been hard.
(nice selfish take, isn't it?blush)

I did about 1.5l yesterday.
today will be tricky, but I'll do what I can.

Tinwe Thu 11-Jul-13 13:10:55

Thanks Zing. Nothing wrong with a bit of introspection. Sorry it's proving a tough time for you though. Take care of yourself and your loved ones

Tinwe Thu 11-Jul-13 20:36:20

How did it go Zing?

ZingWidge Thu 11-Jul-13 22:00:55

thanks for asking.

the service was lovely.
funerals are weird. I kind of expected her to turn up, like she was just late.

I did drink some water today, but I find that it's too tricky when out and about, always keeping tabs on the nearest loo!

I'm pretty sure I put a bit back on, but tomorrow is a brand new day, I'll weigh-in, assess damage and then start afresh.

how was your day?

Tinwe Fri 12-Jul-13 07:50:05

Glad the funeral went smoothly and that you're ok. They are strange events. Everyone getting together and remembering how they care for everyone else there, vowing to meet up again soon, not just at a funeral and then next time you meet it's a funeral or wedding again! Kind of nice (catching up) as well as sad...

Well done for still drinking a bit, if you'd avoided it much I bet you'd have felt rough as your body would be used to it by now. Back on with the plan now... I know I always like to have what my DH calls a "project", be it losing weight, organising a holiday, arranging workmen for the house etc. Think he's pleased that it's just healthy living right now!

Having said that, I'm officially following the Paul McKenna theory of weight loss but have decided I need a bigger loss to spur me on so am doing a few days of v strict low calorie dieting. Was pleased with myself until I went to a friends house who'd bought me a cake especially for my birthday last week. I couldn't not eat it for fear of causing offence so was really disappointed that I didn't even manage to stick a few days being strict. hmm Didn't even enjoy it as I felt so disappointed, silly I know, it's not as if being overweight is due to a tiny piece of lemon drizzle cake! grin

ZingWidge Fri 12-Jul-13 21:11:45

oh my I was so busy all day I forgot to weigh-inblush

ZingWidge Sat 13-Jul-13 21:12:25

ok, weighed this morning.
I put on a bit.

anyway, I had 1.5 l so far today and will finish 2l before bed.

just had Chinese takeaway and feel particularly lardy.
mmmm, chicken noodles were worth it thoughwink

Tinwe Sun 14-Jul-13 08:20:01

Never mind Zing. It's the general trend that counts. I didn't get as much water as I have been doing either yesterday as we were out walking and it wasn't easy to access drinks or a loo. Will step up today though smile

ZingWidge Sun 14-Jul-13 10:23:03

you know yesterday was so hot I didn't have lots of loo trips, I just absorbed the water like a plant.grin

Tinwe Mon 15-Jul-13 22:21:12

I confess - bad day for me today. Not had a water bottle and I think that normally helps me remember. Anyone else want to share their good/bad day?

Tinwe Mon 15-Jul-13 22:31:10

I confess - bad day for me today. Not had a water bottle and I think that normally helps me remember. Anyone else want to share their good/bad day?

ZingWidge Tue 16-Jul-13 08:58:59

oh, all I seem to be having is bad days.

not just water related.
bloody kids argue so much I want to go and live in a cave.
I don't know how to get them to be nice to each other...

plus I have ov pains which is exhausting and makes me grumpier than usual.

right, nurofen first, then it's drowning my sorrows in H2O

MrsHoarder Tue 16-Jul-13 09:08:53

Having a bad week too: AF plus hitting a brick wall on my summer project means I've been overdoing the chocolate. Got my half-litre glass of water on the desk this morning though, and full for good resolve for the day*

* Starting by coming onto MN instead of hitting the lit review...

ZingWidge Tue 16-Jul-13 09:10:48

MrsHoarder grin

hit those reviews!

AmandaPandtheTantrumofDoom Tue 16-Jul-13 14:45:08

Right. I am trying this. 5kg has crept on over the last 6 months. I had a go at 5:2 but I didn't even make it through my first 2 blush. Being around two pre-schoolers all day makes it too hard.

Will keep you posted!

Sorelip Tue 16-Jul-13 16:27:04

i've managed 1.5 litres a day, but am trying to up this to 2. will post later when on laptop.

Tinwe Tue 16-Jul-13 21:59:28

Another bad day. V busy with lots of visitors and appointments. Got about a litre plus lots of other non-water drinks. Might try and neck a bit now...

MrsHoarder Tue 16-Jul-13 22:28:56

Well I did well until mid-afternoon. When I decided I would have a small bowl of ben and jerrys instead of my water because I needed some energy. The B&J was finished...

Having some water now to cool down before bed.

ZingWidge Wed 17-Jul-13 00:03:49

im struggling too.

did manage jusr over 1 litre.
plus loads of apple juice blush blush blush blush

MrsHoarder which B&J did you have?
I used to love the Fudge Brownie, but now they have Brownie Blondie which is much more delicious!

ZingWidge Wed 17-Jul-13 00:05:00

what do you do? I'm intrigued by lotsvif visitors!

Tinwe Wed 17-Jul-13 08:10:36

Zing - want working yesterday, just at home with the girls/babies (still can't decide what to call them at age 1 and 2)! We had a couple of planned visitors and then some extra unplanned ones plus a drs apt for DD2 mid afternoon which confirmed (no shock) she has asthma sad She's only 1 so i hate the idea of regular medicine for her but she's constantly chesty wheezing so I suppose it's good she'll have the right treatment now.

Tinwe Wed 17-Jul-13 08:11:01

Wasn't not want! Definitely didn't want to work!

Tinwe Wed 17-Jul-13 08:12:19

Zing - I like half and half. Is blonde brownie a core B and J just shocked myself with how much knowledge I have of this hmm

ZingWidge Wed 17-Jul-13 08:14:45

I see!

oh sorry to hear about your little one having asthma.

and I would call them girlie-whirlies!grin

ZingWidge Wed 17-Jul-13 08:15:42

yes Tin it has a salted caramel centre which is utterly gorgeous!

MrsHoarder Wed 17-Jul-13 10:33:17

I had cookie dough. Most of them are too sickly for me (and this isn't a very good diet thread, I need to not think about ice cream).

Sorry to hear about your DD, hope the treatment helps soon.

Having a lovely fresh glass of tap water which is cool and refreshing and just what I need on a hot morning like this.

ZingWidge Fri 19-Jul-13 18:46:42

I'm officially ashamed.
I put on a bit more again blush angry

I haven't been drinking my target for days so no wonder.

<hides in cave>

Tinwe Fri 19-Jul-13 21:40:41

Thanks Mrs Hoarder! She's adjusted to the spacer/inhaler and doesn't seem frightened by it anymore so just waiting to see if it helps now, I'm sure it will.

After a couple of so so days earlier this week, I've really stepped up my water and cut back on my diet and have seen my weight FINALLY going down (I'd plateaued) smile

Tinwe Fri 19-Jul-13 21:41:59

Don't worry Zing. It might be water weight related in this weather, especially if you're not drinking as your body will retain fluid. Just jump back on the easy wagon when you're ready smile

ZingWidge Sat 20-Jul-13 01:44:21

thanks tin!

you are probably right, I do feel that I absorb water in this heat!

also I've been ov this week and had a lot of pain all week - so maybe that is connected.

Tinwe Sat 20-Jul-13 21:12:27

Well, started off a bad water day but ended well. Was at a party with only lemonade in little cups to hand but made up for it when I got home. How's everyone else doing today?

AmandaPandtheTantrumofDoom Sat 20-Jul-13 21:18:50

I already drank a lot so aiming for 3 litres. Reckon that I did about 2.5 today. Food not great though. Long car journey and too many snacks.

ZingWidge Sun 21-Jul-13 08:51:48

I managed 1.5 l yesterday!
tinwe thanks for encouragement!

I'll tey my best today again. tomorrow wil be tricky as I'm travelling all day....

ZingWidge Sun 21-Jul-13 08:52:15

not tey

Sorelip Sun 21-Jul-13 11:55:31

I haven't been keeping track of amounts, but I reckon I've been drinking at least 2 litres a day. Massive drinking glasses help!

Tinwe Mon 22-Jul-13 00:22:58

Well done Zing and Sore smile I drink lots when travelling as I'm not distracted so don't forget to drink/ hope that makes sense!

Tinwe Tue 23-Jul-13 08:04:16

Good day yesterday, anyone else?

ZingWidge Tue 23-Jul-13 09:04:09

I think I had heat exhaustion, I went up to London, which meant having to walk 20mins to & back from train then another hour walking around in the heat, I had no food or drink as i was worried about having to go to the loo.

drank a bit of water on way home, then did school run, came home and collapsed.
had a 2hour sleep in the afternoon and an ok night sleep, but I still feel dizzy.

I'm definitely drinking loads today, finished 0.5l bottle already.

Tinwe Tue 23-Jul-13 11:40:26

Oh dear! Still I suppose it's got you re enthused about this plan now smile

ZingWidge Tue 23-Jul-13 12:28:22

tinwe grin silver lining eh?

Tinwe Tue 23-Jul-13 18:18:58

grin Feeling better today though I hope?

ZingWidge Tue 23-Jul-13 22:09:29

slightly, thanks. felt weird all day, like mild hangover.

it's nice and cool now and I'm an "owl" so I'm going to get some tidying done.

kids finally break up tomorrow, I can't wait to sleep in on Thursday!

Tinwe Wed 24-Jul-13 19:54:48

How's everyone today? I've drunk lots but feel but rubbish too sad

formicadinosaur Thu 25-Jul-13 19:10:06

Why not try the 5:2 fasting thing. It's quite straight forward and easier then expected

ZingWidge Thu 25-Jul-13 22:02:57

thanks formica I'm not interested in dieting right now. is it working for you though?

day 1 of hols and kids are already driving me up the wall.
Little one's been ill since Sunday and screams if I don't hold her.
I find it hard enough to get through the day as such and even drinking 2l of water daily is a big challenge for me right now - I manage 1.5l max nowadays.

ZingWidge Fri 26-Jul-13 18:37:21

crap. forgot to weigh again.

only 2nd day of hols, but already I have no idea what day it is! grin

Tinwe Fri 26-Jul-13 20:27:25

Not focused on my water for a few days now... Will try harder wink

ZingWidge Sun 28-Jul-13 07:39:53

I managed 1.5 l on Friday, but yesterday was too hectic...

who would have thought that making sure I drink 2 l water every day is so so difficult?!

I'm not giving up. today's a new day and I'm determined. smile

ZingWidge Thu 01-Aug-13 17:10:49

abandoning my own thread is not good.

I'm back now.

so it's been a struggle, cold weather and rain just made want to drink hot choc and tea...

but today is the beginning of a new month and that gives me a bit of a push.

I've drank 1 litre of water already plis some herb tea (no sugar, it was foul)
I will have to have serious think about how to improve these 3 aspects of my life in order to get slimmer & healthier :
- sleep
- eating
- excercise

I wanted to do this challenge for 3 months - so there's only 3 weeks left!
I have lost weight when I drank the right amount, but put it back on when I let myself getting dehydrated!

it just proves to me that if followed this theory actually works in practice.

I still weigh less than when I started. not much less, but I don't care.
if I had done nothing I would weigh more. so I win!

ZingWidge Mon 05-Aug-13 10:39:01

managed 2 litres on 1st & 2nd.

1.6 l on 3rd, only 1l yesterday - but I had a 4 hour nap and also missed lunch.

I think I finally figured out what works for me - and its having a glass of warm water every time I go in the kitchen! I think I cracked it!

I realized that I don't like drinking from a bottle and cold water hurts my teeth.
and as the water is warm /hot it replaces the need for tea or coffee.

I'm testing this method now until my birthday and will not weigh myself until then.
if it works I probably won't ever go back to WW.

Tinwe Thu 08-Aug-13 13:17:15

Well done Zing! Once you've found what works for you you've cracked it! smile I admit I've lost focus recently as I've been on a new exercise programme but will keep trying smile

ZingWidge Thu 08-Aug-13 19:40:43

yay, you're alive!grin

shame I could not do it today as we were at the beach and keep running to the loo was not an option!

I think it has really surprised me difficult I find to drink 2l of water every day!

for me another trick is to start as soon as I wake up.
the later in the day it is that I have the 1st glass the less I crave it!

Tinwe Wed 14-Aug-13 14:51:24

Hi Zing! Still here! Must admit I've been focusing on my exercise regime and not my water intake but my weight has plateaued so maybe that's a lesson to me!

How are you doing?

UnitedZingDom Wed 14-Aug-13 15:52:51

we've had a crazy week.
we put our house on the market, viewed a house we liked and put an offer on it but didn't get it.

We'll have an open day on Saturday, but we'll be going on holiday so trying to tidy and pack in the next few days.

and we also have decided to TTC in the near future!
so all in all it's been a good week but not from weight loss POW!

so good you are sticking around!
I'm afraid my water drinking has gone out the window, but it's my birthday next week (also end of this 3 months challenge) so with all the new plans I will be making changes anyway.

I think I'll start a new water challenge next week till Christmas - do you want me to pm you?

Tinwe Wed 14-Aug-13 19:20:37

Sounds a great idea Zing! Will be harder to drink lots of water as it gets colder.

Good luck with all the life changes! Must be so exciting that water is the last thing on your mind grin

Tinwe Wed 14-Aug-13 19:21:32

Ps, wow Zing... 7 children?!

mumat39 Wed 21-Aug-13 16:59:46

Hello everyone.

Is it too late to join this thread?

I am not very good at dieting, drinking water or exercising. I am however, very good at, an expert actually, in gaining weight. And even more skilled at dithering about things.

So I figure that this regime might be something even I should be able to manage to drink more water. hmm

So, how much water should I be aiming for? Is tea ok? Or do I have to have an extra cup of water for every cuppa?

And how have you all done? Have you lost weight? has your skin improved? do you feel better?

I found this thread when it first started, but then forgot to try it.

Thanks in advance thanks

ZingWantsCake Wed 21-Aug-13 21:34:10

I have abandoned my thread (blush ) and it was only for 3 months for me ( finishing on Saturday), but fear not I'm starting a new one at the weekend and I'll pm you a link.

I lost about half a stone when I stuck to it, but almost all of it came back as I gradually reduced water intake!

I'm happy to know that my theory works, now I just have to really stick to it.

tinwe if you are reading this I just want to say thanks for keeping me company (and of course everyone else! ) and I'll pm you too with my Christmas challange link!

mumat39 Thu 22-Aug-13 00:09:20

Thanks Zing. I'll look out for your new thread.

0.5 stone from just drinking water sounds pretty good to me! Well done. Drinking more water sounds like such a simple thing to do but I am so rubbish at it. I hope this thread can help me with that.

Tinwe Thu 22-Aug-13 08:32:05

Hi Zing! Still here! smile Well done on completing your challenge. Half a stone is a good loss and should be straight forward enough to do again. Plus if it's not so hot so you need to take in less fluids to maintain, the 2 litres may have an even bigger impact?

I've lost but been doing c25k too so hard to tell what's what. I forgot my water intake a few times but have been drinking loads of red bush/rooibos tea (without milk) so persuading myself that that counts. grin

Tinwe Thu 22-Aug-13 08:33:45

Plus really keen to join a Christmas challenge (love challenges )

Tinwe Thu 22-Aug-13 08:37:52

Mumat - as I said, I've been doing c25k too so it's hard to separate out the benefits of each but my skin and energy levels have definitely improved. A friend of mine did a similar challenge to Zing (only change was a water increase) and she looked great! Glowing skin and lost about 7 pounds in a couple of months (was already slim and middle aged if that makes a difference).

Tinwe Thu 22-Aug-13 08:38:37

Plus Zing, how did your open day go?

mumat39 Thu 22-Aug-13 10:37:00

Thanks Tinwe.

And well done to you too. Especially for the c25k. I can't run at all. Far too many wobbly bits plus dodgy knees and feet. It could be something's do when I've lost a bit of weight maybe.

I'm going to start drinking more water from today. Is it 2 ltrs I should be aiming for? Or does it depend on how much I weigh?

ZingWantsCake Thu 22-Aug-13 18:19:06

tinwe we had no offers from open day as the collective whinge was that the kitchen needs redoing (yes we know, but just buy the damn house and put in a kitchen you want...angry ) and so the asking price was way too high.

we've not decided what to do yet, but will keep looking to buy and if we have to update kitchen for higher start price we'll probably do that. (cheap n cheerful)

I'm going to weigh on Sunday morning again, no idea how much I weigh.

it's my birthday tomorrow so I'm making plans of all the things I'd like to change.
if I do half of it in a year (40 next year) I'll be happy!smile

2 litres is a good start, but if you start from not much maybe 1.5l /day is a good way to begin, then build it up? you can drink more of course

I find anything above 1 l very difficult.

Mumat- not trying to convert you honestly but don't dismiss the C25k straight away. I have dodgy, creaky and crunchy knees after breaking one when I was a teenager. I started doing the 30 day Shred but had to give up as my knees were hurting too much with the lunges and squats. I saw a Physio who advised that my knee problem was due to muscle imbalance making my kneecap track wrongly. He gave me the go ahead for running/cycling etc as long as it didn't hurt as it might build up the muscles and actually benefit my knee! I've had no knee pain at all since I started about month ago (plus, I was at least 3 stone overweight and wobbly when I started too).

I've been really surprised by how much exercise has helped my weight loss! After years of slogging away in the gym and reading that it only counted as one chocolate hob nob, I'd always thought only dieting worked for weight loss. Exercising every other day seems to have really helped this time though, I think it must boost my metabolism between sessions too.

Zing - shame about your house sale. Must be very frustrating to think of doing all that work only to sell it but would be worth it in the end.

Zing, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Hope you have a lovely day and thanks for the tip about the amount of water. Sorry to hear about your open day. Had the agent advised you of those issues? I think a good agent would have pitched it correctly, so people weren't surprised when they came to view it. We've recently exchanged and it's taken 3 months to get to that point. And we still have another 6 weeks between that and completion. Only 4 weeks of that left now, but the process is SO slow and frustrating.

Tinwe, that's really interesting. I think our knees might be related. wink I have the same crunchy sore things going on and was also told that strengthening the muscles above the knee would help line the dooda's up. Knee caps maybe confused. I always assumed that my knees wouldn't cope with running. How much have you lost so far?

Where do you run? Do you have a treadmill? I need to lose about 3 stone too.

Take care

I wish Zing. envy

I'll be 45 in September. :-(

ZingWantsCake Fri 23-Aug-13 01:19:45

you tricked me with your username! grin

Tinwe Fri 23-Aug-13 21:56:46

Mumat - Not sure really, I should have watched more closely. I enter my weight every few days on My Fat Secret so working back from my current run and my nearest weigh in I reckon at least half a stone over the past month grin I have been sensible but not strict with my diet and with quite a few splurges over that time. I lost another half a stone over a few weeks before that by being very careful with my diet but much prefer my current weight loss method as I get to be much more relaxed about my diet and am toning up too so my shape is changing smile

I lost a stone last year and some weight quickly after DD2 was born so I daren't think how big I was at my heaviest confused

Tinwe Fri 23-Aug-13 21:58:26

Happy birthday Zing!

ZingWantsCake Fri 23-Aug-13 22:55:26

Hi again.

Glad you had a good day Zing! We didn't do much. We'll be moving mid September and we have so much stuff that I made a start today. So far I have 8 large boxes of toys, and that's not all of them. I've culled them but we still have loads. shock

Hope you're having a weekend long birthday and that your family are spoiling you rotten. thanks , wine or brew for you. Xxx

Tinwe, you sound so enthusiastic about running! I love your idea of exercising so you can relax about food. I had no idea running would help with changing your shape either.

Have a lovely weekend xxx
