Why am I always so hungry in the evening?

I am currently trying to be good and have stopped eating loads of crap in the evenings (well apart from Saturday night when I ate literally a brick sized piece of Christening cake). I had lots of spag bog and a Kitkat for dinner only 2 hours ago and I'm sooooooooo hungry now! But I can get through several hours during the day fine without drooling over the thought of more Kitkats!

Why are evenings so much harder? Or is it just me???

Spag bol - did it have white or wholemeal pasta?

Kitkat is a bad choice for pudding as they are so more-ish. You would be better with fresh fruit and yoghurt, or anything that is food rather than confectionery.

If you can't do without chocolate, you could try buying crispbread (eg Ryvita) or ricecakes, and spreading with chocolate spread. They are crunchy and chocolatey but more nutritious.

But I don't feel bored cos I'm on here and also watching TV! And I genuinely feel hungry, like physically not psychologically IYKWIM.

Hmmmm, need to go to bed and not go to the choccy tin.

Repeat, need to go to bed and not go to the choccy tin.

The trick is not to buy them in the first place.

...and it was white pasta, yes we really should do wholemeal eh?

I'll try ricecakes with nutella, sounds yummy.

And add green veg or side salad with the spag bol. Did you get your 5 fruit & veg today?

Today I've had

a grapefruit
a banana
cole slaw
beetroot
tomato
cabbage (cooked)
casserole containing onion, garlic, marrow, pepper, and tomatoes in the sauce.

Today I've had...

mini weetabix for brek
tuna mayo toastie for lunch (with some cucumber and tomato side salad, it was in a cafe)
bite of banana when feeding DS it
empire biscuit
apple
spag bog
kit kat

Not so good! Not so much fruit and veg today either, do you think I should eat more to fill me up then the hunger will go in the evening?

You were very mean to yourself re banana! I would have given a bite to baby and scoffed the rest myself.

Yes. Have fruit in the fruitbowl, don't stint on it and never ever buy biscuits from the supermarket. If you really really want a biscuit or sweets, walk to the shop to buy. Then you will deserve them! If you want cake, bake it yourself. But it's much quicker and less washing up to peel a raw carrot.

I had other food as well as the fruit & veg, obviously and that did include my own coffee and walnut cake.

Watching tv usually makes me hungry because there are so many ads and it often crops up in the programmes too.

Hi Elasticwoman

I'm good thanks, not hungry yet LOL! We had lovely sausages and mash for dinner tonight, loads of carrots with it too so that will keep me going for a while. For afters I had a Toffee Crisp snack size, I usually have 2 of them but just the one tonight wasn't I good?

Today I've had mini weetabix, DS's petit filous as he didn't want it, 2 slices toast with hummous, a pear, then my dinner as above. Hmmm, not much fruit again although I did have loads of carrots at dinner

How has your day been?

...and we are about to watch a DVD which will be a challenge as there are 2 packets of chocolate buttons next door shouting at me.

But I won't eat them!

...I'll try anyway

It'll be a lot easier if you don't have them in the house! Are you seeing in the dark after all those carrots?

I had grapefruit, plum and banana for breakfast with natural yoghurt.

Tea and coffee at regular intervals.

Went swimming and did half a mile. Yes, 32 lengths! Felt quite pleased with self.

Lunch out - veg soup and roast beef sani with side salad.

Sweeties from newly discovered Mad Nanna's toffee shop, but they didn't go far between 5 of us. The gannets at home swooped as soon as they saw it.

Bangers, potatoes, baked beans and cabbage at teatime, cooked by dh. Then I had a fruit trifle, which I shouldn't have done because I'd forgotten that later ...

.... in the evening went to Tapas bar and had Tapas and champagne. Friend's 50th birthday celebration.

I don't normally eat out twice in one day.
I did do a bit of work in between all that eating and drinking.
