DS is 9mo and I hadn't weighed myself since before I got pregnant, so at least 18 months. I knew things were bad because of the way my clothes are (aren't) fitting, but I went to MIL's house on Friday and got on her scales - 12 stone 10 pounds and . This is the same set of scales I got on in June 2006 and weighed 10 stone (I'm 5'6").

Help! What on earth should I do? I used to walk 20 minutes to and from work 5 days a week, and don't do that anymore (not back at work yet). I also followed a pretty harsh eating regime prescribed to me by a herbalist (I have a giant fibroid) which was basically no sugar, no dairy and no wheat. Plus no animal products at all and low fat. No wonder I lost weight!

But now that I've had DS the fibroid is as big as ever and I don't believe following this diet will have any impact on it. The only reason I was motivated to follow it last time was the belief it would help.

So I need motivation. And willpower. And to get rid of this awful flab and to wear my lovely clothes again.

I can't believe that I didn't put on weight during my pregnancy - I mean that I didn't put it on in the face/arms/legs or anything - and yet in the 9 months since I had him I've put on masses.

Help help help - what shall I do? What did you do? Tips, I need tips!

don't panic! - quite common unfortunately. I've just started back at swlimming world and they have something there were you try and lose 10% of your body weight to start with. My 10% goal is my starting weight when I stared going there 4 years ago. So I too have work to do.

Now it's nice weather you could take the buggy on loads of walks and exercise that way. There are also loads of exercise dvds you could try and squeeze in to busy life.

If you didn't want to join somewhere like Slimming world or Weight watcers - you could always try something like GI diet is quite easy to slot into everyday life. It will obviously take time, but take it slwly and eventually you'll get there.

Thanks Furball, I need words of reassurance. What is the ethos behind slimming world? GI diet looks good too - will investigate

I joined WW in jan this year and i've lot just shy of 2 stone already ( i was 12 st when I joined)

Apparently green tea can help weightloss as well as having lots of other health benefits.

I've found ww core plan easy to stick to and the exercise has been a nice break for me to have some time to myself to think.

Btw when I had dd2 in 2005 I left the hospital weighing 13 stone and 13lb I tried to get he weight off on my own and I did lose a stone and a half but then I gave up trying for ages until I put half a stone on over xmas and decided that was it I was going to carry on until i got all the weight off! Now i'm on a mission to get to 9.7st at least
