Thanks WWB - and I know how much gritting your teeth it took to do that Christmas emoticon, so thank you for that too.

How's DD today? Mine are too much party food yesterday afternoon and threw up copiously about 10.15 last night. Seems fine today thank goodness.

Dammit - just wrote a great long post and the PC chewed it up

Thanks for asking, Jackie - she's still not well. I don't think she'll be going to school tomorrow, which will really upset her - she's one of the children who are delivering the Christmas post. She has two days to deliver on, and one of them is tomorrow. She had to send in a proper application with a reference(!) and was really proud when she got the job ... and will be horribly upset to miss it.

The excitement of a party + the crapness of the food = a pain in the bum sometimes, doesn't it! Hope she's OK now.

Oh dear - your poor DD. Hope she does start to feel better soon. What a shame for her to miss being postie - who did she get the reference from?

DD seems fine now, thanks. We've just been to DH's company's kids' Christmas party (losing my way with the apostrophes there - hope they're right), which was very busy, but good fun, for them, anyway. I think you know he works for a big computer company, and the party had the theme of 'pirates', which, as they spend a lot of time and effort combating software piracy, seemed strangely inappropriate.

I wrote her reference; was a very odd thing to have to do! They obviously weren't too bothered about impartiality as they were happy for parents to provide references Dh wanted to include the fact that her great-grandma and great-uncle were/are both posties and therefore it must be in the genes - I thought that was stretching a point a little too far!

There were 17 children missing from her class on Friday because of this bug; I am hoping that enough of them will be away to need them to rejig the rota so maybe she'll get a chance later in the week.

I like the idea of a pirate party for a company who bust software pirates!

Blimey - that's a lot to be off in one go. It's obviously a very virulent bug. Lol about the postie genes.

The teacher reckons she needs to get the classroom fumigated! There were 11 off on Thursday morning, by 11am they had sent another 4 home, and by Friday it was 17. Plus three of them were losing their voices and barking like seals by Friday night, so heaven only knows how many they're down by today.

She's flaked out under a duvet in front of CBeebies at the moment, refusing to eat because everything tastes horrible - and it's been as much as I can do to even get fluid into her over since Friday night.

It's the Y2 Christmas play this week too ... there will be all kinds of tears and tantrums if she misses that as well.

Hello, a long lost stranger here. I haven't posted on mn for ages so I thought I'd see how you all were this Christmastide.
I've had a strange few months. My Dad, who is bipolar was hospitalised with severe depression from the end of August until a few weeks ago, so life has been pretty frantic with lots of trips to the hospital 40 mins away to fit in as well as normal life. Ironically it was Dad being so ill that shook me out of my own lethargy and since September I have joined weightwatchers and lost almost 2 stone. I feel immeasurably better for it although I'm starting to feel the need of extra support with all those christmas buffets & chocolates looming!
WWB, I hope dd feels better soon, it must be rotten to be poorly with all the christmas stuff going on at school.

Hello, and welcome back justamum. Congratulations on losing the 2 stone (though about your dad's situation). Is he home again now?

Report
justamum · 11/12/2007 19:36

Hello Jackie, yes he's home now, although he goes back into hospital on Mon & fri's for assessment. He is still a long way from better but is at least eating now. One of the reasons he was hospitalised in the first place was because he lost loads of weight and refused to eat. He's on enough AD's & antipsychotics to knock out a small horse but it seems do be doing the trick at the moment.
I'm dreading ww tomorrow as it was my work christmas do last Friday and I drank almost a whole days worth of points in alcahol. Its not something I do often but I had to keep up with the bevy of early twenties beauties in my team.
They make you sick, not an extra lb, inch or stretchmark between them!

Glad he's on the mend. Must have been an incredibly worrying time for you. So doubly well done for keeping on losing weight - stress is something that just sends me heading straight for the highly calorific snacks.

And don't worry about the twenty-somethings - their stretch marks will come.

Hello justamum, so sorry about your dad. Must be very hard on all of you. But congrats on the two stone... well done

I have gained a pound this week. Not at all surprising, with the goings on over the road, dd not sleeping and being back at work this week, my eating is not so good. I am eating loads of fruit and veg but lots of crap as well. Today is written off as well - I am meeting an old friend for lunch today and then tonight we are going to a childrens' party and panto, all paid for by the company I work for

Hi DeckthehallswithFEETofTIGERS - you definitely have lots of good excuses for any sort of weight gain. Hope you have a good lunch and evening. I'm not at all sure I'll have lost, as I went out for Christmas dinner last night with our book group. No alcohol, as I was driving, but plenty of food. I'll weigh later.

JackieNo I couldn't weigh in the middle of the day, it has to be first thing in the morning after I've been to the loo [grasps at straws]

Report
JackieNoel · 13/12/2007 11:07

I know what you mean - I've just stuck with this because it was when I first started to weigh, so I'm just sticking with the same time of day. Also I'm not awake enough in the mornings to remember. But I do go to the toilet first too

WigWamBam · 13/12/2007 17:33

Hello again, justamum - so sorry to hear about your dad - it must have been a difficult time for you all.

I always weigh after I've been to the loo as well ... daft, isn't it!

I've lost again, but it's more to do with having been ill than having been virtuous ... dd is better, but I'm not well now.

Hello ladies.

Just a quickie as I'm off to bed. Justamum, good to see you again. Sorry things have been so difficult.

I've lost another 1.5 lbs which makes 12 in total.
