Unless you enjoy it, it ain't going to to last. Getting up at 5am is no fun (unless like me you can't sleep and are awake then away!) How old is your ds? iS he in a pushchair? because you could run whilst pushing him.

get to bed early. Have clothes etc ready to put on. Grab a quick coffee! And just go, try not to think about it or you will talk yourself out of it. The first 15 mins will seem like hell but once you get going you'll feel great. One advantage is that its over with and you don't have all day to think about exercising later. You will have smug look on your face and holier than thou glow about you.

set the alarm and get up when it goes off! Apparently your body burns off 30% more calories first thing in the morning (before eating) than any other time of the day - that should be incentive enough.

Good luck, force yourself to do it, i'm sure it'll get easier. To spur you on, my alarm is set for 6 am to do some work for hubby and to have a bit of a jog if I get chance (lucky as I have a treadmill). 5am is perhaps taking it a bit too far unless its the only time you can do it of course.

When I'm not working, I get up at 6.30 on a weekday to go running before DH leaves for work. I make sure all my running kit is downstairs so that way I don't disturb anybody. Also, I don't think about it because I would find a dozen reasons to not to go running.

For the first 10 minutes, I tend to run slowly as my body is still in seizure mode but once I've warmed up, I find the run easier. By the time I've finished, I'm really glad that I made the effort.
