Treadmill preferences?????

coggy · 23/03/2007 21:04

DH has decided that in the duty of encouraging me to get fitter we ought to buy a treadmill ......I need to act quickly(ish) before he changes his mind!

Any particularly good ones recommended?
Or any to definitely avoid?

At the moment I'm looking at a York one in Argos that is reduced by £180 but it only has a top speed of 10kph......not sure if that is a running or jogging-type speed???

Any help gratefully received.

I wouldn't bother.
You will not use it.
Get out running or go to a gym
(I jog at 9-9.5 km an hour.)

Rubbish! I use mine 3 times/wk. It's in front of the tv so no excuses. An eliptical trainer & I love it.

hmmm, tempted to move my elliptical into living room - does it take up all the room, sauce?

There seems to be an either love 'em or hate 'em thing about home gym stuff.
I am sure that I will use it......but then again...I do have rather alot of not-very-well-used exercise DVDs!!!

I find running outside really hard as I set off too quickly and am knackered after a minute!
At least I can pace myself with a treadmill..............???

Going to gym/out running is my social life so serves double purpose.
Without it would see noone for pleasure.

Good point. But we live in the middle of nowhere & although the countryside is beautiful, I find running hard on my knees & extremely boring.

Y'see,I tohught it would be but i really love it now.
I have a 20 0dd mile cycle track which runs past the fileds at the bottom of our garden so i get someone to drop me a few kms away, crank up led Zepp on my iPod and am away.

No cars.just fields, sheep, birds and glorious view over Anglesey and Snowdonia.

moondog don't you feel scared though

I hate being cold but have decided I have to face what I hate head on,so step out there in a t shirt and brazen it out.

Running when cold makes you go faster and the zing! when you get home is incredible.

i haven't had a run in about 10 days and feel really down.
Am going tomorrow and know it will perk me up no end.

Since when are you in Snowdonia? What happened to Turkey?

iPod makes a big difference & totally agree about the rush from the zing!

I am on my own for a huge proprtion of the time so with the sheep at least have some company.

We have packed up and left Turkey sauce.
Dh is now working in Tajikistan and I am back in our permanent home in Wales working and doing an MSc.

sauce · 23/03/2007 22:19

Well, that must be a relief. To be home, I mean. Your dh was often away, if I remember but Tajikistan? And doing the MSc is why you're not around much anymore?
