rubbish scales at home - anyone else?

just wondered if anyone else has this problem with unreliable scales...we've had cheap digital, expensive digital and now just the normal ones (with a dial, don't know what they're called) and they just all seem very unreliable. eg: depending on how you stand on them you can put on or lose 3/4lbs - it drives me and hubby mad - what do you all have and are there any you would recommend?

are you putting them on carpet? as that sometimes makes you weigh inconsistantly and more heavy for some reason.

All scales are unreliable to some extent except the ones that cost upwards of £5k.

BUT you can make it better if you:

  • Always stand up straight
  • Place the scales on a tiled flat surface or on concrete, not carpet
  • Keep your scales away from humid environments (bathrooms are the worst place for scales because analogue scales rely on the movement of a metal bar and the humidity makes it swell.

I'm told eating less is also a good way of making them work better (she types while eating chocolate for breakfast)

tinkerbellhadpiles - exactly, chocolate for breakfast is reserved for christmas, birthdays and of course Mothers Day!
