Weight Watchers at Home.......anyone doing this?

McDreamy · 05/03/2007 13:51

I have just started as there isn't a weight watchers near me and I just don't get on with Slimming World. Just wondered if anyone else was doing this on their own and wanted to start a weekly weigh in to keep us motivated.

I started doing it at home just with the books - it was fine - then joined WW Online as I thought I'd find it easier to find food values that way. What a wasted of fifty quid! The online chat isn't a patch on MN and the food values don't give portion sizes in grammes - they just say small, medium etc. so a bit useless! I do like the online tracker but find myseld writing stuff in my old tracker book as I can't always get to the PC anyway! So I would say just do it with the basic books. My weigh-in day is Monday - you are very welcome to join me! A friend once said that on WW the only person you cheat if you pig out and don't write the points down is yourself. I always bear that in mind whenever I feel tempted by the creme eggs my ds likes me to buy! Good luck and come on here if you have any questions - there's lots of us around doing WW. I have lost a stone since 12th January and am very pleased! How much do you want to shift?

I want to loose about a stone and a half. I am still working out all my points and weights etc (started today!)

I can have 19 points a day. I need to weigh myself tonight and work out my 10%.

Do you do the other habits they recommend? I am very impressed with the apck I received.

My problem meal will be breakfast as I am really bad at eating it in the first place! My main meal will not be a problem. What do you have for luches as I normally have a sandwich.

I have just started WW at home too. I used to go to meetings about 5 yrs ago and lost 4 stone. But don't want to have to pay again, so am doing it from home. I started last Monday and got weighed this morning... I'd lost 4 and a half pound. Was V pleased!!!!

I found it really good the first time I did it, but can't shift baby weight so am strting again. My weakness is wine so I make loads of zero point veggie soup. Great for filling you up and saving some points for a few cheeky glasses of wine

Ok Pecka Sunday it is. I will weigh myself tonight as a start and then from next Sunday I will weigh myself. I have to do this, none of my clothes fit!!! Mine is all babyweight too. I lost 22lbs between having my DD and becoing preganant with DS with WW so I know I can do it and that WW works for me. I just need some motivation which last time was attending the class. Weighing in on mumsnet will help me. Thanks

Flatmouse, are you watching your portion size and are you tracking everything that passes your lips? Also, do you drink plenty of water?

I find that if I'm not losing weight, I'm losing inches so have you measured yourself or do your clothes feel looser?

If you are exercising a lot, maybe you are building muscle and that could explain why there is a temporary cessation in weight loss.

Don't give up and before you know it, the scales will be moving in the right direction again. Be honest with yourself however.

Anyone lacking in motivation, dont! The more days you spend trying to find your motivation you could be losing weight

I started exercising in the second week in January and started WW two weeks ago. I have lost 8lbs in total and this morning I put my jeans on and they feel SO much looser. I have been having to hold them up all day

LETS DO THIS

Also if anyone fancies taking up or increasing exercise we have a great thread going "Exercise buddies" if anyone would like to join that too!

May I join in? I am a newbie to ww but don't want to go to meetings due to not too much time. Have all the stuff at home and after my remedial fasting (will break on mon or tue, probably), I have decided to give it a go. DH will even join me .

Well I'm on day 4 now and so far finding it quite straight forward. DH is away at the moment though, I think I will find it harder once he comes home.

Of course you can join - well done you too what's your secret? Mine is DH is away at the moment which means we don't go out as much and I only have to cook supper for me which means I don't get tempted with his dinner! Oh and I don't drink when he's not here that helps too!

I have been ill this week which has helped no end, usually I am a disaster . I have now lost nearly 2 stone since I started trying to lose weight after DS, he is now 3.6. In fact I just found my first week weight loss of 8lbs on one of the orginal threads in this section from Jan 2004 !!! I think I need to speed it up a little as I am averaging a loss of about 9lbs a year at the moment so at this rate my children will have left home before I am slim again

My top tips, and I am really not the person to be giving advice are always have a big pot of 0 point soup available. Cadbury's light chocolate mousses are 1.5 points each and last for ages when frozen doing the job for chocolate cravings. Making sure you have 4 points a day spent on protein. Not letting your numerous Weightwatchers cookbooks gather dust and actually cooking some of the recipes so you feel you are eating well and not deprived, there are loads of really nice ones. And Total 0% fat yoghurt is a really good low fat replacement for cream at about 1.5 points for 150g pot.

Now if I could just follow this I would be doing an awful lot better than I have been.

I know that may seem a stupid question, but since I am German and we use the metric system, can anyone tell me how many grams are a lb, and how much is a stone?? Thanks!!
Will slowly start eating again tomorrow, probably doesn't make sense to start weighing before next week because I will not even be able to eat up my points the first 3 - 5 days.... And after fasting my weight might go up so maybe I'd better save myself from that frustration .
