Countdown to Christmas. Anyone with me.

Just got back from holiday this morning and while I feel like I've stayed the same or even lost a bit ( I don't weigh myself as I don't want reasons to celebrate or commiserate) I want to continue with the healthy eating I did while there

I was pretty careful . Limited myself to one treat a day, a gluten free cake , ice cream lolly with chocolate and nuts around.

I never bought any chocolate ( unusual for me). Very few potatoes. I found veg and protein was enough in that heat.
Not a big drinker. A gin and tonic for me is a tonic with a splash of gin a couple of times a day and we walked for miles.

So....I have a wedding coming up next year and I have four lovely dresses to choose from. Two I got married in ( knee length rather than bridal). One champagne, other a kindd of French beige. I can get them zipped but can't breathe in them.

Then I have a pale green and a pale pink. They are unworn as they were new last year and I couldn't wear them as I'd put some weight on.

So...my plan is to practice healthy eating and intermittent fasting till Christmas.

My usual breakfast omelette but this time allowing more than 13 hours of fasting between dinner the night before and breakfast. Green soup. Today's looked putrid but tasted fine. It was a rich dark blue green as a teaspoon of spirulina went in as well. Plus a few cashews and a bit of feta

Tonight will be homemade turkey curry. Eaten by 7 to allow for the fast.

I don't want to go back to chocolate or crisps when I snack.
It's going to be painful as Im Already gluten and mostly dairy free, so I can only cut back on sugary snacks and it's so much cooler here so I want to eat.

I'm also going to look into mindful eating.

Anyone with me till Christmas.

Then it will be a couple of days off. Then back on till our next break in march where I'll have to watch myself for the wedding in may.

I like to have a goal.

twobambinos Wed 26-Oct-16 17:26:42

Me please. I've fallen off every other thread this year.
My goal is 10lbs by the 9th of December so that's 6 weeks. If I succeed wow I'll amaze myself.

I am the same with all the lovely dresses in the wardrobe that would fit so much better if I lost a few lbs

Best of luck dowser

Dowser Wed 26-Oct-16 18:12:29

That's lovely bambinos. I lost about ten pounds last year thanks to someone starting a wedding support thread..ive obviously gained it back again :-(

So It's 6 weeks to Dec 9 so by Dec 21 that's 8 weeks.

Why is a pound a week so difficult? That's a good half stone loss plus a bit more.

What's your plan bambinos?

Just about to buy the turkey for the curry for tonight. Won't eat till 8pm..so breakfast not till 11am tomorrow to get my 13 hours of fasting in.

This intermittent fasting is also good for digestion and I struggle with mine.

I made such a good start on my holiday that I want to keep the momentum going.

I shall try that dress on next Wednesday...see if I can beathe in it.

Me! I heard on the radio that today is the last day to start a diet for Christmas for it to actually have any effect?! smile

I started calorie counting with Nutracheck on Monday. Day 3 now and I am committed to staying on track! It's a good app which helps to be fair!

Good luck 🍀

RonBurgundysMoustache Wed 26-Oct-16 18:43:15

Can I join too?! Need to loose the last stone of baby weight I'm carrying! I started calorie counting with MFP 10 days ago and have lost 2lb so far so 12 more to go!! Not sure if I can manage that in 8 weeks but I'm willing to give it a go (would be more than happy with 7-10lb though!)

I am planning to be in some ridiculously tight outfit come xmas day! 😬

BrillianaHarvey Wed 26-Oct-16 18:50:49

Can I join? I have been failing to shift a stone since the end of August! Clearly I need some better motivation. My strategy will be high protein, low carb and no wine (aargh). Out tonight and tomorrow so starting properly on Friday.

RonBurgundysMoustache Wed 26-Oct-16 19:13:01

Brill wine is one of my biggest downfalls! I don't drink sun-thurs but Friday and Saturday I got way overboard so last weekend I switched the wine for two small g&t's each night which still isn't great but much much better calorie wise than my normal gallon of wine! blush I also actually felt so much better for no wine at all which is why I'm going to try my hardest to keep it up!

feedmelollipops Wed 26-Oct-16 20:15:02

Can I join? I have lost over 4 stone in the last 12 months since having DD.

The last half stone is IMPOSSIBLE to shift.

But it needs to go.

I often don't eat until lunch so that's a bit like fasting if you don't count the two coffees with skimmed milk I have for breakfast.

HorraceTheOtter Wed 26-Oct-16 20:33:55

I'm up for this! I've been dieting since the start of September and have lost 1.5 stone so far, hoping to loose another 10lbs to a stone by Christmas, when it will all stop until the new year. Hopefully with me not being too much of a pig in between.

So far, I have been just eating a lot less than normal, which was fine, but I seem to be loosing impetus just now. I'm boring dh talking about weight loss now, so some new people to talk to would be good.

Winglet Wed 26-Oct-16 22:35:25

Ooooh I want to join! I joined WW this evening in a last ditch attempt to be a bit slimmer to Christmas.

I've got the long term goal of 2 stone, but I would be happy with 10lbs in 6 weeks for sure. Going to really try and cut out all the sugary snacks and stick to fruit as much as possible. Track every morsel and not drink too much at the weekend. All it leads to is a terrible hangover and a day wasted eating stodgy rubbish to feel better.

Dowser Wed 26-Oct-16 23:26:51

Lovely to have you all aboard. We will soon be Christmas crackers ;-)

Had a good day food wise. No snacking at all and the chocolate on the kitchen has gone into the ...fridge...you thought I was going to say bin...lol

Not quite there yet I'm afraid.

Sooo tired today and realised I could've easily snacked on some chocolate but I kept focussed.
Popped out for about 2 hours and then about 6-30 and got on the bed while dh started on the curry and fell fast asleep till 8 pm

That's rare for me and I hope I sleep tonight.

Anyway had my turkey curry and then that's it now till 10 or 11 am tomorrow.

I think my guardian angels were looking out for me the other day while on holiday. I was going to treat myself to chocolate covered ice creamy lolly but it was an awful day on Tenerife. Blowing a Hooley and was really chilly. No way did I fancy an ice cream in those conditions.
Anyway we met my daughter and her family for our last evening meal together and I'd decided to have some home made tiramisu. The staff were busy that night and by the time they cleared our plates ...the tiramisu had all gone. I thought I'd try the quesillo, a Crewe caramel type dessert...no, that too had gone. Everything else had gluten so that was not an option.

The next day, I felt very sad as we were leaving so I spotted a vending machine in the hotel. I thought I'd have a sneaky bar of chocolate to cheer myself up.

Opened up my purse ....not a Euro to be found. I'd forgotten I'd left all my change for the maids.

Slimming by default then!

Dowser Wed 26-Oct-16 23:27:47

Creme not Crewe

Dowser Wed 26-Oct-16 23:30:22

Oh and I read about Amelia freer so googled her recipes. She does a lot of low carb healthy eating and helped boy george, James corden and Sam smith to lose weight.

Her recipes sound lovely and may give one or two of them a go.
I do a lovely gluten free cake if anyone would like the recipe. Nice to keep for a treat and keeps for ages.

HorraceTheOtter Thu 27-Oct-16 08:49:50

I had a good day yesterday. Nothing for breakfast, a piece of, errm, rocky road blush ( I'd made it with the DC's and couldn't resist) for lunch and ham, egg, chips and peas (though only a few chips) for dinner. The dinner being mitigated by the rest of the day.

I measured myself this morning and I've lost 5 inches from my waist since September! I was always an hourglass shape before, but post DCs had turned in to an apple. Or possibly just lumpy. It's nice to be the shape I recognise again.

BrillianaHarvey Thu 27-Oct-16 09:43:42

5 inches is amazing! What's your secret?

iwilldoit30 Thu 27-Oct-16 09:51:56

I'm in!!

I'm 9st 11 and need to be 8st will settle for 9st for Christmas.

Today I'm skipping breakfast, for lunch I will have a ham sandwich and some fruit. Dinner will be duck leg sweet potatoe and something green. I'm walking a lot around town today too so will come back later and let you know how I got on.

HorraceTheOtter Thu 27-Oct-16 10:11:41

I think it's just that naturally I have a small waist tbh Brilliana. It was 25 inches pre DC, 31 now. When it was 25 I was still 10.5 stone, so not that small on the rest of me. I'm trying to stick to 1200 cals or under at the moment, I can't do diet plans because I crave sweet things too much and then I binge.

RonBurgundysMoustache Thu 27-Oct-16 10:21:22

Wow some amazing losses on here! We are all going to look amaze balls by xmas!

I keep getting told off by MFP for not consuming enough calories!it tells me I should be having 1300 a day but I'm normally only just making 1000-1100 But I'm not hungry so seems silly to eat for the sake of it but guess I must! I follow slimming world recipes since having my youngest, so I eat pretty well and eat a lot! I've lost another pound since Monday though woohoo!!

horace wow 25inch waist! you must have looked like Jessica rabbit!

Dowser the slimming gods are smiling upon you! grin

twobambinos Thu 27-Oct-16 17:36:07

I'm going to weigh in tomorrow. And will weigh once a week only from then on. I will post my start weight tomorrow. Aiming to exercise a bit more so maybe 4-5 hours and also to cut out snackin . Im sure if I stopped that I would lose a few pounds. And up the water intake too

iwilldoit30 Thu 27-Oct-16 19:32:09

Well food and walk went as planned so that's good, however I did have some chocolate blush still, it's not too bad. Also might try only eating between 11am to 6pm so I have a good few hours of fasting, no idea if it will help but I'm going to try it.

How did everyone do today

BrillianaHarvey Thu 27-Oct-16 19:35:27

First weigh in tomorrow! Ocado coming with a truckload of broccoli tomorrow evening. Not a great day today - a bacon sandwich and a chocolate chip cookie. But, as Scarlett O'Hara said...

RonBurgundysMoustache Thu 27-Oct-16 20:06:46

I have done ok today..... came in at 1,057 calories and had the biggest plate of cottage pie, kale and leeks for dinner I can't move! blush

Had some veg that needed using so have made a big batch of soup that will hopefully keep me going to lunches for the next few days! Have to refrain from the wine this weekend though.. thats going to a challenge! 😕

Dowser Thu 27-Oct-16 20:59:16

Omelette this morning
Sweet potato soup with feta and cashew nuts
Gin and tonic
1 date and walnut cracker with small piece of blue cheese

Was supposed to be having steak but ate the cracker at my daughter's and called it dinner

Hungry now but will keep going till tomorrow

Dowser Thu 27-Oct-16 21:00:39

Everyone is being very virtuous so can't let the side down.

Also this dress is very tight...
I might wear it tomorrow

I might wear it every day till Christmas ;-)

HorraceTheOtter Thu 27-Oct-16 23:11:48

Getting in to clothes that didn't fit, even if they are a bit tight is brilliant isn't it Dowser! I had a deluded few weeks after my first child's birth and bought a load of dresses in the size I'd decided I was (12) rather than the size I actually was (16/18), I'm just fitting in to some of them now and they make me so happy, I've worn a beautiful short, dark green silk shift dress 4 times in the last 2 weeks.

I had a good day caloriewise today, probably fairly poor nutritionally though: half a jam crumpet, raisin scotch pancake, pretzels, carrot, MORE rocky road (only a tiny bit though and I fed the rest to the children to get rid of it) and med veg pasta sauce, but with a pile of spinach rather than pasta. Including milk for tea it comes in at about 950 cals, but I actually feel quite full, so think I'll just keep it at that for today.
