I just don't know what to do. I need to lose around four stone (possibly more!). I've been coming to terms with being bigger (size 16 usually) and follow some great plus sized bloggers. However I don't think I am plus size, I am fat. I think I'm probably meant to be around a 12. Most of my weight is around my waist/stomach.

I've done SW before and lost 3st so I know that works, but I can't do all of the substitutes and fat free stuff (chemicals and aspartame give me headaches). I can't commit to groups either due to DH's work. I know what to eat but I am addicted to sugar and can quite easily eat a whole big bar or bag of chocolate in one go. I hate the way I look but that doesn't seem to stop me shoving crap in my mouth!

I have very interrupted sleep due to a DD who still wakes in the night which I know doesn't help. I take HRT which supposedly shouldn't make a difference and I have had treatment for a serious disease. I used to exercise four times a week, after having DD I did nothing. Recently finished three months worth of personal training and although I felt fitter and stronger I lost very little weight or inches.

Went out tonight and the dress I was going to wear looked fucking ridiculous as it didn't fit. I see all of these lovely clothes and even try some on, but my body shape is bloody ridiculous now.

I just don't know what to do. I'm trapped in the revulsion/eat/guilt cycle.

I'm not expecting answers, just needed to get it out there.

I hate myself for getting into this state.

Try not to be so hard on yourself. At the end of the day it's just weight and how you feel about it. Of course it can get you down and that can just make eating behaviour worse.
My tips that worked for me was to drink LOTS of water. A large glass first thing in the morning and the same before bed with 2-3L during the day. It helped me so much. I limited my intake of bread to once a week and I prepared my meals daily and made sure I had portion control. I still ate/eat everything I want, but not as much as I used to. And most importantly I kept busy. It takes planning initially but then becomes a good habit. My reward was always a small amount of dark chocolate each day. Using an app to record your food/drink intake will help motivate you too and you know that feeling from SW when it starts to come off, you will become more motivated as you continue your plan. Good luck and I hope that helped Wink

Thanks martmadge Smile
New job role at work means I am drinking much less water, I definitely need to step that up again.
I think I'll have look at my fitness pal or similar, the problem is I'm not great at recording what I've had throughout the day - usually done at the end of the day. Confused
Will definitely give it a go though!

I would also suggest you try fasting. I've been doing it for years. Not the 5:2 as I know I struggled with the inconsistency of it, but I do a 14+ hour fast every day. So if I finish my dinner at 8pm, I don't eat until after 10am the next day. As someone who's never ready to eat breakfast, that has helped but ultimately I find that I feel healthier doing a fast. There is lots of positive information online about it and easy to do once it becomes a habit. Of course there's always days when I don't do it. That's life! Just something to think about. For me it's more about changing my attitude to food and how foods make me feel afterwards. Wishing you all the best Halo

I think you might be me!

The only thing that I feel like I can stick to is an Atkins type eating plan. I'm addicted to sugar so when I come off it and follow a low carb way of eating my mood feels so much more balanced and it massively curbs my appetite.

Having said that, I'm still struggling with having the willpower to do it long term. Life gets in the way and I'm not organised enough to always keep the right food in the house.

I know exactly where you're coming from though. Totally appalled that I've let myself get to such a hideous size. I'm only 5'2" and nearly tipping 12 stone - disgraceful!

Hey

losing weight has so many factors involved so here is what I would do.

Pick one thing to work on and nail it.

Eg.

This week I will drink 1l litre of water day

Do it knock it out of the park - feel awesome

week 2 I will eat a palm sized portion of protein with every meal

do it and knock it out of the park

Week 3 _ I will walk 15 -20mins day

Keep adding the habits and then the stress goes away and yu get results :-)

Hope that helps

Clean 9 is another product designed to keep women buying a product.

What people need is not a product its a habit change and education

Gets me mad that people sell stuff under the premise of "helping" people but actually all the product does is put you in a calorie deficit .

There is no science that suggest that aloe can 'detox' you - your liver / kidneys do that fine -along with your bowel and lungs

Person buys clean 9 , loses weight through a calorie deficit then stops it gains weight and buys product again.

Groooaaaannn

Honesty is this

Most women are confused by the million and one diets out there

Paleo
Low carb
Atkins
Herbal life
Clean 9 etc

All diets work but until we educate and fix habits then nothing will change and the cycle of yo yo dieting will continue

Rant over

I've lost more than 3 stone by giving up sugar and processed food.
Also read Paul Mckenna's "I can make you thin" and use his tips of only eat when you're hungry, and stop when you're full.
When I was working (on a busy ward) I'd eat whenever I had a moment just in case I got hungry Blush, but now I'm retired I can be more relaxed, the food is there when I need it.
I tend to eat breakfast at around noon, an afternoon snack and I try to eat my dinner by 8pm as I have bad reflux so need a couple of hours between eating and bedtime.
I increased my dog walking, going further and fast enough to pant and sweat! Plus a Davina McColl 7 minute HIIT workout 2/3 times a week.
I've pateaued now, I'm 5'3, 9 stone and a size 8/10, but still flabby arms and legs, and could lose another stone without looking too thin.

my fitness pal

eat want you want as long as it fits your calories. Accept it's probably for good (firstly losing then maintenance calories) as you don't want to yoyo. Do it when you are ready to do it, it won't work if you aren't (nothing will)

Plateaus

normally mean you need to lower your calorie intake as there is less of you now Yay ...

I suggest tracking your intake for 3 days, weight you food too , then you can assess your intake and make an adjustment.

Also try and up your daily activity too.

hope that helps

I think I've probably tried every diet under the sun and the only one that has ever worked is low carbing.

However it isn't something you can do half heartedly in my experience a if you're eating high fat and sugar the weight piles on.

I am so sick of constantly agonising over what I eat. Back in the day I could lose a few pounds just by cutting back but two kids and being in my early 40s has made things a whole lot harder!
