All unprocessed vegetables are appetite suppressants. Try it. Boil up some plain cauliflower or broccoli (a whole head), or try to eat a bag load of plain spinach leaves. Sit and eat as much as you can until you can't eat any more, I GUARANTEE you will feel satiated and satisfied really quickly.

I promise you, you won't want to eat until your next meal. Try it and let me know!

Exactly! And it's good for you. It's a great tip for people who think avoiding real food is a good idea.

If you cut out processed and sugary food and eat whole food then you won't suffer cravings in the same way.
If I eat biscuits or crisps I always want to overeat. If I eat salad or protein and veg then I eat much less.

Brush your teeth whenever you fancy something sweet - you won't want it afterwards. Or squeeze a lemon into hot water and that will stop you wanting sweet things, too.

What sort of food are you eating?

The thing is, OP, most over-eating isn't done because we're hungry. Have you tried the Paul McKenna CD/book?

Addictions and cravings take time to overcome but like Wolfie says, stick to unprocessed plain and whole foods. So oranges, not orange juice etc.

I eat:
eggs, meat, fish, salad, veg, fruit by the bucket load.... and I eat Greek yog, nuts and other mixed (whole) foods like omelette, stews, casseroles, curries, dried fruit less often (because mixed things are massively palatable and trigger cravings and who can stop at one bowl of stew?), and I drink wine, eat crisps, cake, chocs etc at parties, special events, christmas and if I really need it about once per week. Keep it real! Don't ban anything, accept the treats when you are at a social event and then swing back to your lovely real food after. It's the getting back on it that counts.

My meals are ok, fresh meat and veg and rice or cous cous is very typical, but then I crave sweet things. I try to avoid buying them but I get them as I live with my teenage son. When Im good they dont bother me, but just lately Im finding it so hard. Ive started exercising again in the hope it will help.

Imperialblether..... you are absolutely right, its not because I'm hungry, but once I start, I just cant stop

Strip out the rice and couscous if you can bare it, or reduce to one tablespoon, load up on sweet potato, or real potato instead with lashing of salad and veg.

I will give that a go....quite often have meat with a load of different veg thrown in actifryer, like pepper, onion, babycorn, courgette, butternut squash, carrot etc

It's so common, wannabslim. And of course if you don't start, there are all sorts of other problems.

Low carb is very good once you get past the first few days - I think a lot find those days difficult though (not least wondering what the hell you can eat.)

I also find if I eat cereal or bread my blood sugar just seems to yoyo.
