Giving up on weighing...

I've been reasonably good all week. MFP and walking loads etc... And this morning I have gained half a pound. Doubly annoying as yesterday, at am 'unofficial weigh-in, I'd lost 2!

My weekend is ruined.

So am thinking of hiding the scales. Anyone done this? Am only put off by the thought that I'll weigh in a few months and have gained 4 stone or something!

If you let day-to-day fluctuations in your weight determine your mood, then you certainly shouldn't weigh yourself as often! I'm a daily weigher, and it works for me, but I record the whole lot and it really fluctuates up and down, faster than I could possibly be losing fat, so there's no sense in taking it too seriously.

I've recently given up weighing myself. I was previously weighing everyday and like you, found that the often random number, would influence my mood and how I felt about myself.

I know how to eat well. I've lost 30 pounds and have maintained since August. I get the fear though! I've been keeping an eye on waist measurement to try and avoid the weight creeping on again.

It's such a personal thing. For ages, weighing everyday seemed to suit me fine but now I don't think it's good for me. I can't take the emotion and judgement out of it.

It's just a bad reading today but if you want to continue losing I think you do need to weigh and you will undoubtedly get readings that make you happy. Maybe weigh every week instead. Hiding the scales can be a slippery slope IME.

Crikey, you cant let half a pound ruin your weekend, that's just a decent wee! If I weigh myself first thing and then again after my morning tea and a coffee I will have gained half a pound. It is annoying but nearly everyone on a diet will have days when their weight inexplicably goes up.

I have been weighing every day with dp for the past 8 weeks and often hated it but it worked and actually after a while he was also having days where his weight would go up a lb for no reason then jump down 3lbs. When it is going down it is so motivating just go easy on yourself and expect it to go up sometimes.

If you genuinely don't want to weigh then you need to wear clothes that are fairly fitted then you should be able to track if things are getting looser and going in the right direction. Leggings are a no no as you could easily gain weight without realising. Well done on losing weight this week.

Yes, chuck scales away, you can go by clothes tightness, scales are misery makers.

Scales belong in the bin! We fluctuate wayyyy too much. Best to look at your fitness levels, clothes, how you feel and almost naked body shots (front, side and back).
