Hi all. I have been a mumsnetter for several years, but not been on for ages. After East last year, I started at a diet and fitness class and weighed in at 12st 1lb. I got my 1 stone certificate 7 weeks ago and Have lost another 5lbs since then.

At the start of the year our instructor set a challenge to lose 10% of our body weight by 1st April. I have 5 lbs to go to reach that target, but if I can lose 9lbs I will get my 2st certificate.

I would love to do this S we always go away the week after Easter and meet with lost of friends. It would be great to be 2st lighter.

Anyone want to join me?

Yes!

I'm feeling really dihartened about weightloss.
My GP has suggested a low carb, low fat minimal dairy diet and since then I've been struggling to work out what to eat. This has resulted in me putting on more weight as I have just fallen into bad habits again. I am away over the weekend but it shouldn't be too bad

Hi there. Thank you for joining me.

Don't get too disheartened. There are load of foods you can eat. Have you seen www.dietdoctor.com/low-carb/foods#foodlist this site. They have lists of what to eat ans avoid.

I'm in! This time last year I weighed 12 stone (weight been creeping up over the years and long illness keeping me house bound and comfort eating). I'm now 9stone, but still have very fat arms and legs, and a squidgy middle!
I try not to obsess over the numbers on the scale, but I'd like to know how many pounds I need to lose!
I lost the weight by almost eliminating sugar, and Paul McKenna's mantra, only eat when you're really hungry, stop when you're full.

Hi Cherry.

I wish I was 9st. My final target is 8.5/9 st.

Exercise should help you tone up the areas you want. There are lots of sites out there to help you calculate your ideal weight.

I'll join - I actually started Monday doing 5:2. I would like to lose just over a stone. I had a cheeky weigh in this morning and I've lost 3lbs.

Hi Pinkvici.

How are you finding 5:2. I have never tried it.

I have cut out snacks and watch what I eat.

Hi Bula. 5:2 works for me. I did it a couple of years ago and got to my target weight. Laziness and stress (no excuse but I'm an emotional eater!), has made the weight creap back on. I like the flexibility - I look at my diary and choose my fast days when I'm busiest at work.
