I'm probably going to join Weight Watchers tomorrow. Advice please!

My youngest dc is now two and I'm still carrying two stone of "pregnancy weight". I cannot shift it, despite going to the gym, trying mfp, slimming world and ww. Weight watchers has always worked in the past as it's low calorie, fits into your life, and is black and white. I found slimming world was a bit too vague for me and encouraged my binge eating side. Last time I tried ww I was bogged down with baby and toddler and was on ads, so I was thinking that I wasn't really in the right head space.

Anyway I'm ready now, obese and desperately unhappy. Sorry for rambling on, I guess I just want to check that I'm doing the right thing by joining again. It's expensive and I don't want to set myself up to fail. I can do it, can't I??? Any advice/tips for following the plan? I have to do this as it's impacting on my mental health and relationships.

Don't go, it did not work in the past if you gained the weight.
Look at your lifestyle, eating habits exercise etc
You need to commit to changing these for the rest of your life, not just until you lose a few stone.
Please don't encourage the diet industry by giving them your money every week and putting yourself under pressure at the weigh in because you happened to (for example) go to a party/meal out whatever.
Live your life, things crop up and food is nearly always part of celebrations but if you can eat healthily at ALL other times you will lose and maintain that weight loss.

Hiya, I started Weight Watchers online myself two weeks ago. I've dabbled with it in the past and done really well. I find it's the only thing that works with my chronic IBS. I do the points system and my first week I lost 5 lbs then I went up 1lb the second week, but I had been ill. Hopefully going to lose some more this week!
Let me know how you get on and if you want a buddy! Smile

I've joined now so it's too late Grin. I would love a buddy! Just getting to grips with it all again. I ate two family sized bars of chocolate last night, so really need something to control me. Off to prep my veg for dinner!

I love Weight Watchers and fine it really works for me online (probably wouldn't do it without their online tracker and recipe builder though). When I'm following the plan (and I cheat quite a bit - got rules of my own), I find I have more energy, it's easier to wake up in the mornings AND I enjoy food more. I also like how it allows me to track my five a day. but it is specifically their online tracker I like : wouldn't bother otherwise

Whoops, cross posted. How'd it go, OP? I find the first week back on it is really tough, but once I'm past the sugar crash and cravings I'm fine. Hang in there

Hiya!! Well it's quite hard, as I'm having to get my head round points again. Plus I've given up smoking this week too. I love the way the tracker handles everything for you, but it's so inferior to MFP. I'm sure it has only 3% of foods in there!! Very annoying and not good enough for something you have to pay for! However, I found my results from last time and I lost ten pounds, but it wasn't fast enough for me, so I decided it wasn't working and stopped going. I was used to weight falling off me, but after two kids I think everything changes with your body and you do have to work really hard for every pound off. I'm going to give it a good go!

I seem to get on very well with WW, in a couple of lbs I'll be 3 stone lighter than when I joined (which I almost didn't do because I was almost as cynical about WW/SW as popcornpaws sounds Grin). This has been at the rate of 0,1 or 2lbs per week. How long did it take you to lose 10lb last time OP? Slow is good as it tends to stay off.

I'm doing it as a way of changing how I eat forever though, rather than being just on a diet. I don't buy the food products but the cook book is good, the DCs like the food so we have been all able to eat the same thing. The kitchen scales are useful, I have reigned in my portion size since using them, I was way off before.

They won't get my money for very long either, once you hit your target weight you can be a member for free, all being well I will have paid for 9 months at the most.

Well done on the weight loss, you must look like a different person! I lost 3 stone on ww prior to having children. The ten pounds I lost last year took 9 weeks, BUT, I lost five pounds in the first week then spent the rest of the time losing four pounds, so I can see why I gave up now. Anyway I've cut back drinking massively and the kids are older, so I do have the odd few hours to myself now which is different to last year. I've got digital kitchen scales and don't find them a pain at all, you're right, you do need them for portion control. Fingers crossed for Thursday weigh in. I'm due on so not expecting a big loss this week, which might actually help.

Thank you. I look like my old self again iyswim, which feels good.

It did take a few weeks to get into the swing of things and be satisfied with less food, and to point check some bits that I had been buying for years only to discover they were really high in points, I've swapped them for other things now.

I prefer a loss of 1 or 2lb per, big losses are ok, but then the risk is that the following week you will be disappointed.

Hi, I joined WW two weeks ago and have found it great. I lost 4lb the first week then 2lb the second week so it definitely seems to be working. My problem is that my weigh in is on a Friday so I spend the weekend stuffing my face then from Monday onwards have to be extra good to make up for it! I need to get out of the cycle of eating all weekend but I can't seem to resist it...

I have around 3 - 3.5 stone to lose though so I'm determined to stick with it this time.

Well done Kim! Does anyone know how many calories a day 30 points is? There seems to be a lot of points to eat with the bank points too, but then I haven't drank or eaten out yet. That is Friday, so I think I will have a hungry week next week.

I've eaten according to plan this week and it felt like a lot, but I think that's cos I didn't go out socialising. Anyway, I've lost a grand total of 1.5lbs! I'm coming on today though which means I normally carry 3lbs more, so potentially a good weigh in next week. Only 26.5lbs to go, it's gonna be a long road at this rate!!

Thats good bloodyraining, that's only about 18 weeks at the rate though, not that long when you think how quickly time goes when you are busy!

I joined last night - can I be in your gang?! Many, many pounds kilos to go. Was weighed at GP yesterday when I went asking for a bit of help, as I knew things were getting out of hand. GP was bloody lovely, which made it much easier to get started. may have eaten the chocolate in the house last night before I started this morning

Have planned out what I'll have today and it looks OK. I can see that before long I will need some help to be a bit creative with meal ideas though.

Thanks for the perspective Longroad! If someone said you can be two stone lighter in two weeks I'd chew their arm off! Not the greatest of starts, but I did feel that my allowance was a hell of a lot of food. I can see this is going to be a plod!

Hardest bit of today was not picking from LO's leftovers or secret snacking in the kitchen

Hope everyone's had a good day.

I eat just before the DCs now, that way I'm not hungry when there are leftovers and I have enough energy to survive dinner, bath and bedtime. I also started cooking from the WW cook book, that way we can all eat the same thing (DH is never home in time for dinner anyway).

I still secret snack in the kitchen though!

How's everyone getting on? I'm really getting into it now. I like the fact I can have a curry or chippy chips from my bank, but that it means I'll have less points for the rest of the week. I think this is a good skill to learn, that you can have what you want but not every day. I lost 3lbs on Thursday, which is now a total of 4.5lbs. I'm no longer obese Smile.

Anyone still doing weight watchers? Another weigh in today and I've now lost 7.5 lbs in four weeks. That's a quarter of my journey done. I can't see a difference, maybe in my face a bit, but the jeans I was bursting out of four weeks ago are now hanging off me. I can't believe it!
