Do you have any hints or tips? Did the op go well?
I'm due to have the op in 2 months and I'm quite terrified of the GA. Not looking forward to the liver shrinkage diet either.

No but I've had a gastric bypass
I did the low calorie liver diet and it was fine as you know the op isn't happening if you don't stick to it!
Op was 3 or 4 hrs and I was in recovery for 8 as my bp is so low

Oh, I'll definitely stick to the diet, I can only have milk and yogurt on it (I love milk but not sure I will after 10 days!). Are there any items your recommend taking to the hospital?

Ear plugs, eye mask and polo mints!
You will often be put in the bay by the nurse station and it's so noisy
Nightie not pjs as I had a catheter and a drain for 2 days
Don't panic is the main thing. I took paracetamol in solid form from day 2 and all my vitamins etc in tablet form after about the 12 days they recommend, often they say to get medication in liquid form but it's a huge hassle and expensive and not really needed
You also have to grow a thick skin!
All hospitals have different eating plans after, mine was clear fluid for 2 days then soups for 12 then blended mush and yet another friends hosp had them on rich tea biscuits and minced beef on day 2
Follow your plan. I know it's different for they bypass as we get dumping from too much sugar or fat, you just get food stuck or eat too much (which can make you vomit)

I shall add ear plugs, eye mask and polos to my list. Thank you.

I'm pleased to see this thread! Thank you thank you Grin

Today I'm meeting the surgeon before I have a gastric bypass in 2 weeks time. I'd love some hand holding and support. It's scary.
Over my life I have lost a total of over twenty five stone...well to be precise 4/5/6 stone about five times in my life...and each time I have slowly but steadily regained.
So here I go, A huge step. Final.
But I have to get myself in hand before I'm back in operating theatres having joint replacement and swallowing painkillers(which I do now) and other medication for high blood pressure and diabetes.

I'm taking a cool spray in to hospital! And my iPad that's for sure.

I'm dreading giving myself injections for a week afterwards!
