So have been doing WW for about 5 weeks now. Lost 10lb straight away and then weight has stuck for three weeks.

Allowed 26 points a day and because I was shocked horrified at the point content of the protein foods I was eating I decided instead to eat lots of free food and use my points for carbs (bread and biscuits mainly).

I thought being constantly hungry was me being a greedy cah but I read an article recently about protein and satiety and suddenly had a doh! moment. Why the hell had i cut out the foods that helped me eat less!! So I have for the last few days factored in a large chunk of my daily points for protein and I am no longer starving hungry and the weight is coming off again!!

Protein is well known to suppress hunger. This is why the Atkins/low carb diets work, because people ultimately eat less calories because they feel less hungry. How healthy those diets are is debatable, but it's certainly a lot easier to diet if you are eating protein in each meal.

Anyone how many years have you maintained that weight? The hardest part is often maintaining.

Yup, lots of protein-rich and fibre-rich foods are the answer to making your calories go further. Someone on here was asking a few weeks ago how on earth people cope on 1200 calories a day, as she was starving. But it turns out she was using all her calories up on bread and biscuits and not actually eating a decent volume of food to fill her up.

I'm not a fan of low-carb or any other extreme diet - they may work for some but they seem like to much effort to sustain in the long run. But to get your tummy nice and full on minimum calories you need to a) make sure your carbs are as un-processed as possible and as high in fibre as possible, and b) eat lots of protein.
