Hello,

Please delete if you feel this is inappropriate

I'm a PhD student at the University of Liverpool. I'm currently looking for dieters to take part in a study for my PhD. The Liverpool Eating and Behaviour Study is an anonymous online survey about eating and behaviour. If you can spare around 15 minutes please consider taking part! As thanks for your time and effort there is the option to enter a prize draw to win one of ten £10 Amazon vouchers.

The survey can be found here: tinyurl.com/n5uxzxq

The link above will take you to an online version of the survey that begins with an information sheet explaining what the survey involves and why we are doing it.

Many thanks,
Beth

And I would encourage ALL posters on ALL of the different weight loss threads to do it as the question section at the end is really, really interesting

Thanks so much to everyone who has done this :) The survey is still open (I need a lot of participants) and the PhD is still going well. Thanks so much :)

It is an excellent survey, filling it in really made me think about how some of those things associate with each other

I did it but I don't live in the UK. I hope this isn't a wasted reply! I'd like to be a part of it. Good luck!

OP, I've been thinking about this.

I think the reason some of us are a bit overweight is that food is everywhere. I personally reject any suggestion that I am excessively invested in to pleasing others etc.... (example that I remember)

Over the past two decades I've been eating about 1.07 more than I need to when I take my eye off the clock (so to speak). I've lost five pounds (again) recently. But I'm not an emotional eater, I'm not unhappy, food's not filling a void. Like many other people, *I'm getting it almost right by only over eating by about 7-9%. in a world where food is everywhere.

But I'm not getting it as right as I need to get it to appear 'slim'. Which is what I want. That probably sounds like it negates all personal responsibility, and not at all, I know the buck stops with each individual.

So If I had any comment on the questionnaire that'd be it, can it measure people like me? Who are just eating that bit much more than they need to? No issues, no perfectionism, no self-loathing, no self-flagellation... just living in a world where instead of hunting and gathering, your colleague will hand you food so that it doesn't land on her own hips !

It's a fascinating subject though. I looked in to the social contagion aspect of weight gain years ago doing a social studies class and I find it all so interesting.
