What would be the best diet for me?

I have no idea what my weight is but I reckon I have about a stone to lose, and keep off.

I'm a bit rubbish at diets, have done weight watches online once before which was good for me because it's very flexible. But I can't afford the fees at the moment.

At mealtimes I don't overeat, this is because savoury food I can take or leave. I often leave some of my meal.

My main problem is a MASSIVE sweet tooth. I always want pudding! And I snack and it's always chocolate or sweets. I crave sugar and I feel it's a bit of an addiction. But I've always been like this since I was a child-I used to eat sugar out the sugar bowl, and steal the dog's chocolate treats!

I have limited time to exercise due to work/baby/older child with SN. But I could do something if it's free or very cheap and I can do it in the evenings. There's a park at the end of my road so I could start running once the evenings become a bit lighter.

So I guess I need to cut out the sweet treats. But how?

What diets are good for someone who like me, that will help me cut out the sugar, lose a bit of weight and keep it off?

There was a 3 part horizon program on a few weeks ago. See if you can find it on catch up/on demand etc.
It was finding out the right diets for each person. There was also an online test to find your diet. Might be worth looking at.

I was you. Then I quit sugar. The weight really does fall off. I watched lots of programmes and read up on sugar - the best was a book called Sweet Poison. It is truly scary what sugar does to our bodies - fructose in particular. I very rarely crave sugary things now and am over a stone lighter.

How did you give up Trenzalor? Just cold turkey?

And did you give up fruit as well?

Cold turkey helped by the fact I was ill the week before starting so I thought I'd maximise on the not being able to each much that week and power on. I sorted out my cupboards and foodbanked anything containing sugar (within reason, the baked beans stayed!). I gave up fruit (although I'm prepared to eat 1 or 2 pieces a day as the fibre counteracts most of the fructose problems) but just don't eat it tbh. I was sad to give up ketchup, but now it just tastes like sugar liquid. I found as a side effect I no longer snack as I don't get hungry between meals - although I had a sugar free muffin made with white flour and that made me crave food. So no more white flour for me!
It sounds austere- but honestly after you get past the first couple of weeks you can't even see what the fuss is.

I have just discovered my fitness pal app. No idea if it would work for you but I'm finding it really easy. I put in all my meals the day before so it's all planned and i can see how many calories then I can fit in cake if I have enough calories left. It's a bit like ww but without the made up points numbers and calories instead. It works out how many calories you should eat to lose weight and at the end of each day comes up with "if every day was like this then you would weigh x stone in 5 weeks" which is good for motivation.
I finally feel like I have a grip on how much food I've been eating and have taken control (I would say I'm only 2 weeks in so it's early days but it's not hassle so works for me).

Trenzalor There's a book called Wheat Belly byWilliam Davis and here's quote from it; "Eating 2 slices of wholewheat bread can increase blood sugar more than 2 tablespoons of pure sugar can." That's why you get a 'high' from any wheat bread!

Some people are more sensitive to sugar than others though IME. Davina Mcall on here has some ideas how to do it GlitterKandinsky.

I was like you, could do without meals and just eat sweets and biscuits all day, I stopped eating them, went cold turkey and this is from someone who could eat half a tray of tablet in two days!
I feel so much better, loads more energy and no highs and lows in energy like i had when eating so much crap!
I figured since i had probably tried every sweet/cake/biscuit in the land that i couldn't crave them because i knew how they tasted already!
I have lost 5 stone through cc and its been pretty easy as i don't crave the very things that made me fat anymore.
