David Lloyd Gym membership? HOW MUCH DO YOU PAY?

Hi all

There is a David Lloyd gym near me (Leeds) which I would love to join - but when I call up they insist on giving me a guided tour and showing me their various plans in person. I don't really want to go and look at it if I can't afford it. (especially as it has an indoor and an outdoor pool)

Are any of you members? And if so - how much do you pay? any info would be muchly appreciated.

In devon we paid (iirc) £110 per month for joint membership - DH and I - and the DCs were about £20 a month each too. That was basic membership, no racquets. Ridiculously £££, we gave it up as soon as we could, it was only really worth it if you wanted to also access the childcare/clubs etc IMO.

thanks Hopefully - that's what I guessed. They did tell me over the phone I would have to pay for my child to go in the creche on top of membership so can imagine id end up paying a fortune.

Sounds like one of the old Next Generation clubs. I used to be a member a couple of years ago before I moved house, and paid £70 for me and £30 for DD a month. It was fabulous though, as kids get older there are loads of activities for them, important to me as a lone parent, and in the summer a trip to outdoor pool was a day out, you get some guest passes too. I really miss mine. It is more than other gyms, but you do get more.

I think we paid around £130 for the four of us. It was actually pretty good value when the boys we c. 3-8yo, as we swam at least once a week and there were loads of activities they could do that were free included while I was in the gym etc. It also had a soft play area and I used to sign friends in for a coffee and spend most of the holidays there.

The outdoor pool was like being on holiday all summer if we got decent weather.

Expensive though if your Dc are younger and not getting all the free clubs and you have to pay for the crèche, or older and all they really get included is the pool, which is consider "boring" once they've been to a waterpark Sad

Our local one wanted to charge 140 for couples membership for me and DH. That includes a corporate discount as DH is in police.
Also 25 per month for ds for infant membership. I enquired about the crèche and it was only open 9-11 3 days mid week. As I work full time I figured that wouldn't help me as I then couldn't put ds in crèche at wkend and go for swim or fitness class while DH was at work. Really not sure where they get their figures from but the car park always looks busy so I guess some people have more money than sense

We go to david lloyd, family membership £150/month peak. It is v expensive but i go 4x per week inc classes dh about 3 x and ds does swimming/multisports weekly. It works out no more costly for all that than paying separately for everything + membership at local council gym and is much nicer.

Look around at your local options!
