My water diet

I need to loose weight. but how?

I'm far too busy to concentrate on what I eat, how much and when.

It stresses met out when I have to prepare special foods & drinks for myself in advance because we are going to a friends' or have guests or travelling or whatever.

We have 6 kids and I'm just so busy. 4 at school, 2 at home, there's always something more important than weighing and calculating my little portions of pasta.
I always get interrupted and distracted.

Plus baby is only 13 months and is a mummy's girl, so I rarely get anything done - like tidying or being organized.
I'm not even going to talk about lack of sleep.

the house is a mess and I DH is about to have an operation, then there are holidays and birthdays and so on. It's just too much.

Weight Watchers always worked for me, so my plan is to go back in September, but as for now I can not fully commit to it.
I can't do it half-arsed.

that's all very well, but what about for the next 3 months?
my birthday is at the end of August and we are going on holiday and I really want to loose about 2 stones (which I did with WW 2 years ago, so I know I can) and wear my prettier clothes and feel just healthier.

So I came up with an idea.

WATER DIET!

I've heard countless of times and from various sources that half the time (or so) we eat because we are thirsty, not hungry. that not enough water is one of the reasons we over-eat.

so I thought that I will drink 2 litres of water everyday and will not worry about what I eat and when and how much. And see if that makes a difference.

See if it helps me reduce cravings, if it fills me up to reduce food intake.
or flush out toxins. or help me feel less tired.
And most importantly if it helps me to get slimmer.
I've got nothing to loose - just the extra weight!Grin

Join me if you like.

To start:
I weighed myself yesterday and was 86 kgs.
I can't even remember what I ate all day, but managed to drink just over a litre of water.
I haven't started going to the toilet more just yet, which I'm expecting to happen once I reach the daily 2 litres.

Today: finished one sports bottle already (500ml) and had breakfast.
it is a lovely sunny day, so I'm thinking how flowers and plants need a lot water to function well to bring fruit or beautiful flowers.

I'm determined to drink my daily target of 1.5 litres of water.

let's see how it goes.

And I feel really happy! All the worries and frustration about not being able to loose weight is gone. that was unexpected! Smile

you should be drinking that anyway!!

amazingmumof6 · 25/05/2013 10:10

but I haven't! that is the point.

I've been drinking tea and coffee and juice and pepsi and hot chocolate.

hardly ever just a glass of water.

and I will still have all of the above, but I decided that none of those will count towards my water intake.

my diet, my rules! Grin

are you joining?

no need for me to join

I've lost 4 stone through low carbing, still losing well on it,but almost at target

I also workout with a bootcamp and run 3 times a week. also drink about 2 litres daily as part of routine.

be interesting to see what you actually lose

wow, well done, that is fantastic!

Well, I'll be interested too - right now this is the only thing I can focus on & do on my own without following any actual diet plan.

It really is more like a test, wing-it style. strangely exciting!Grin

I'm off now to have a Brew and a Biscuit, but I feel actually quite thirsty, so I'll have a glass of water first.

I certainly don't feel hungry right now, I only want to eat a biscuit coz of habit.

I forgot to add - I decided to only get weighed once a week on Friday mornings, without clothes, after I woke up and been to the bathroom, but before breakfast.
better base for comparison I think, then just hopping on the scales any odd time - which is what I do when not on a diet..

on 2nd bottle of water and feel slightly sick.
not at all hungry.
don't feel like eating anything sweet right now. Didn't have Biscuit with Brew either - shocker!

fancy grapes though.

(Disclaimer: I'm not pg and due to recent MMR vax I'm not allowed to TTC for 3 months, so it's all good)

Good luck - I will watch this with interest and, actually, yes, I think I will join you!!
I definitely don't drink enough, and need to lose about 7lbs so will give it a go.
My only concern is that as I already seem to have a really 'weak bladder' and go to the loo every couple of hours during the day, plus once or sometimes twice during the night, if I will now spend all day on the loo!!

Niknak yay, my first buddy!Wink call me Zing!

I'm so glad you are here, I was worried I'm going to end up like some monk writing my memoirs! Grin

my instinct is that if you drink more water your bladder will have to cope with it and might just get stronger.

my children would frequently wet the bed and we were taught that they need bladder training, partially by increasing the liquid intake.

see what I mean?

so, I've just finished my 2nd bottle (so 1 litre so far)

had a nice lunch, but DID not crave the usual pack of crisps with my sandwich, so I left it out. had a tomato and spring onions with it.
I did drown the chicken in mayo as usual, then had my nice cuppa (2 sugars) and a Penguin bar.

no rules, just concentrating on the water, so liberating!!!! It's like suddenly I have a bit of extra room in my brain to think about other things.

so, 7lb is a very do-able amount, I don't think it will take you long.

how much have you managed so far?

ooh and the way I measure how much water I drink is to have a 500ml sports water bottle.

For now I put an elastic band on it as I start, then refill and put a second elastic band on. and so on. then it's easy to track it.

I think that system will work.

3rd bottle, here we go.

Niknakpaddywhack · 25/05/2013 16:59

Zing that's a good idea about the elastic bands to remind you how many you've had.

I have put a sports bottle of water in the fridge as I prefer water really cold (are you drinking tap water or bottled water?)and I have been drinking from another bottle while I've been gardening.

It is liberating to just concentrate on one aspect of healthy eating, much more "can do" than trying too many things at once.

I have lost about 5lb up till now through smaller portions sizes and trying to eat healthier snacks but seem to have plateu plataux got stuck.

You sound really positive- I hope it works for you [smile[

I'll join you! I'm the same weight as you and have a v sedentary job. I realised last week that I definitely don't drink enough fluids because I had to fill in a fluid intake chart for DSD as part of her coursework. I fall off the wagon if I try to concentrate on too many things at the same time so this is easy enough to do. On my second bottle and my wee is finally straw coloured. Goes to show how dehydrated I was Blush

yay, more buddies! so happy you are joining!

my DH actually said he'll join as well.

for dinner we'll have tortilla wraps with southern friend chicken pieces (tesco) baked in the oven.
add bbq sauce and finely chopped peppers, cucumbers, spring onions, grated carrots and grated cheese.

kids LOVE this, easy peasy.

what are you all eating?

on third bottle now, don't feel like drinking anymore, but will finish it before dinner.

Your dinner sounds lovely Zing My DH cooked his first oven-baked risotto (I've been teaching him to cook) and it was lovely. It had bacon, peppers, sweetcorn and petit pois in and he did some mushrooms in garlic butter to go with it. Mmmmm. The problem is - I love food!

I had a glass of water with a squeeze of lemon juice in it to flavour it as I was getting a little bored of plain water Blush

ooh, sounds yum. I lurve mushrooms!

see that's the thing, I do to.
but I'm hoping that in a few days or weeks I will
a.) not crave sugary/salty snacks
b.) will be able to separate thirst from hunger
c.) simply eat less by consuming less and stopping when full
d.) not worry or think about food too much
all thanks to water

we all know pretty much what we shouldn't eat, but it's not about not having "naughty" foods.

what I hope is to achieve a natural way of supressing hunger, cravings and over-eating.
that surely must lead to weight loss and being more healthy.
Well, that's my theory anyway. Smile

I'll join this h2o based craziness. I'm shit at diets and am really struggling to cook diet meals for me, normal meals for DH and really nourishing meals for baby. So we are all eating the same. Maybe this water thing will help me cut my snacking

Oh she's back with a pair of tights worn like a scarf - nice
