Morning campers

Here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

This week sees the start of Ubercamp. This is entirely optional, by the way!

The idea is that we have three very strict days, keeping our carbs under 20g each day and consuming no dairy.

If you want to take part, I have put together three days' worth of meals as a guide - one which includes eggs and one which is an egg-free plan for those of you who don't like eggs. I'll also do one today which is purely fish-based.

As well as the meal plans, I've also written shopping lists and some recipes, where necessary, and the lovely Willie has put these on the spreadsheet - just look at the tabs at the bottom.

And here is a fish-based plan for the three days:

Day 1

Mushroom omelette, fried in butter

Tuna mayonnaise wrapped in Little Gem lettuce leaves, with sliced cucumber

Salmon fillet, skin on, pan-fried in butter and olive oil
80g frozen whole leaf baby spinach, with garlic butter and 100g broccoli florets fried with 50g shallot and chilli flakes

Carbs - 9

Day 2

2 eggs, scrambled with butter

Smoked salmon and 100g avocado with 80g green leafy salad in a home-made vinaigrette (olive oil, wine vinegar, salt and pepper)

Home-made tuna burger with home-made coleslaw and 150g celeriac chips

Carbs - 14

Day 3

2 boiled eggs

Salmon fillet with coleslaw and 80g salad

Roast cod wrapped in Parma ham, with 200g swede mashed with lots of butte) and 200g braised fennel

Carbs - 16

Recipes to follow

Great, thanks BIWI. I'll be ubercamping!

Have put on half a pound this week, so I need it. Don't want any instances of carbicide this week (love that phrase in the DM article!)

Good luck everyone.

Tuna Burger

Ingredients: (this makes 2 burgers)

200g fresh tuna steaks
1 garlic clove , finely chopped
small knob fresh ginger , peeled and finely chopped
1 tbsp soy sauce
handful coriander leaves, chopped
1 tbsp sunflower oil

Method:

Chop the tuna into small chunks, then carry on chopping until the tuna is roughly minced. Tip the tuna into a bowl and mix with the garlic, ginger, soy sauce and coriander. Shape into two burgers, place on a plate, then freeze for 10 mins to firm up.
Heat the oil in a non-stick frying pan, then cook the burgers for 1-2 mins on each side or until done to your liking.

Marking my place here.

I probably need to do Uber Plan to get DH back on the straight and narrow but I am so focused on this WOE I have no plans to fall off it!

Am out for dinner tonight but sure I can order something LC, cancelled lunch at a friend's house as I am not sure what she will give me. Going to my uncle's for lunch on SUnday and planning a big breakfast so I can pick through lunch.

Planning ahead is the key for me................

Cod Wrapped in Parma Ham

Per person:

1 cod fillet, skin removed
2 slices Parma ham
Sprig of fresh thyme (or any other fresh herbs that you like/have to hand)

Method:

Heat the oven to 200 degrees
Lay the ham out on a chopping board so that the slices overlap slightly.
Place the cod in the middle of the ham, put the thyme/herbs on top of the fish, and season with salt and black pepper
Wrap the ham over the fish
Put into a roasting dish seam-side down, drizzle with olive oil and more black pepper
Roast for 20 minutes

Also, just in case anyone is still dithering about artificial sweeteners, have a read of this:

Thanks for the ideas BIWI, I'm not a massive fan of tuna steaks but it's given me inspiration nonetheless. I'm 1.5lb down this week, that's just shy of 10lb so far which I'm pretty pleased about. My mom said I was looking trimmer at the weekend which was nice.

Mr. Sainsbo is arriving today with my weaponry for ubercamp. I was extremely happy to have someone else do my meal-planning for me for a few days, the shopping list was a very welcome touch Grin

I was too cold to weigh this morning, I'll hop on tomorrow.

Morning. I've lost 4lbs this week. Have to attribute most of that to being ill and completely loosing all sense of taste and smell! I am still not feeling 100% so not going to do the uber plan this week, just going to eat what I can.

Could some kindly soul add my weight to the spreadsheet please? It's 168. My laptop is broken and I can't seem to add it from the iPad. Thank you! xxx

I'm starting Ubercamp tomorrow, just having a general low carb day today. And enjoying my last day of drinking coffee! I realise that my coffee consumption has crept up again, especially at the weekend, which means I've been adding a lot of carbs with the milk I use.

So cutting that right back today (on my second cup now and that's it for the day).

Off for my first run of Week 3 (C25K) later this morning.

ooh i love meal-planning! They all sound yum, BIWI.

One of the headlines today was the 'tax' on fizzy drinks. Sounds like someone is actually waking up - not only to full-fat cola and such, but the sweeteners too. How much longer can 'diet' drinks be marketed as 'good for you'?

Grin

With regard to the Ubercamp menus, you can swap the protein elements of all meals round if you want - but don't switch the veg/salad around, as that is where the carbs are, and that's what gives you the carb count for the day.

You can eat the days in any order that you want - day 1 is the lowest in carbs, so you might prefer to have that as your middle day, and start off with day 3 which is the highest in carbs.

And you can ignore my suggestions for the protein element altogether Grin if there's something you prefer. (I'm not really much of a fish eater, so I'm sure there are more interesting fish-based meals!)

Totally up to you.

Oh ugh, 5lbs ON following the wedding of carbs on Saturday - never has Ubercamp been needed more! Shopping tonight so off to print out my list and rules, currently annoying my colleagues with scrambled eggs with chopped salami added for breakfast. I am comforting myself with the knowledge that it's most probably glycogen weight, not fat, but still! Will spreadsheet later in the week coz I'm pathetic.

Morning :)

I'm not weighing as I'm getting too obsessed with it so am from now on going by clothes size and how I feel for a while.

I've had some carb creep over the weekend - DP bought the little paris kitchen cookbook and has been trying recipes from it.

I'm going to try some of the recipes like the crackers this afternoon after my aqua class and maybe have them with pate. DP is at work today and I'm not so I have free rein over the laptop and kitchen which I'm not normally allowed Hmm so going to make the most of it.

BIWI you are a star :) I might try the ubercamp thing next week but I already have a fridge full of food I need to use!

Morning all. Thanks to Bessie123, Captainmummy, WillieWaggledagger, Timidviper, BIWI and BlackAffronted for very kind words. I delivered knock-out blow to pain by means of strong drugs and today I feel much better if a tad groggy. This is a fast turn around and I'm absolutely sure that I'm recovering more quickly due to being fit and eating well - it really is that simple. I'm so much fitter than I was a year ago and it's changed my life. So, ramble, ramble, summing up...being fit rocks.

Well done to everyone who is sticking to WOE and making it work for them Thanks

Morning all. Skipped the weigh-in last week because I was away from home. Absolutely went off the rails (kick-started by consuming alcohol for the first time in over a month - lots of carby/sweet buffets on offer!). I went on the scales when I got back last Wednesday and was 13 stone which represented a GAIN of 6 pounds in under a week.

Got back on track as soon as I got back and my weigh in today was 12st 9 which is only a 1 pound gain in 2 weeks. So total loss of 14 pounds in 6 weeks. Would dearly love to lose another 7 pounds in the next 4 weeks.

Am not going to follow ubercamp but will try and reduce the decaf teas/coffees that have crept in a bit. And I started on the 85% chocolate which is lovely but might leave that till the 10 weeks are up.

Good luck all Smile
