I am trying to lose weight at the moment. I have a BMI of 31 and want to reduce that down to 25 as a minimum which means losing 3 stone.

Since I started therapy (PTSD) my appetite has gone. I don't want to binge as I used to and I am enjoying smaller portions. (I even turned down a Chinese takeaway tonight Shock )

But here is my problem, I am worried that if I don't eat enough I won't lose the weight. I am told by some people that your body goes into starvation mode when you don't eat enough and you don't lose weight.

On the other hand I have seen on embarrassing fat bodies some patients have been put on liquid diets in order to lose weight and eat 800 cals a day.

I am not trying to crash diet, I want to eat a healthy balanced diet but I am worried that if I don't eat enough that I won't lose the weight. I don't want to force myself to eat but I also need to lose this weight.

Starvation mode is a myth.

It only kicks in after several days with no food intake at all.

Come and join the 5:2 brigade as it works well with mindfulness - half way through a 24 hour fast the clarity of mind is WONDERFUL.
