Slimming World Meetings - Is it just me???

or are the meetings b.o.r.i.n.g.??? I joined in October, and I really dislike the meetings. Maybe something is wrong with me, but I don't find hearing about everyone else's losses (or gains) in any way motivational, nor do I find having my 2lb weight gained mentioned in a room full of other people helpful either. It's putting me off going.

BTW, just off to this week's meeting in a few minutes and not looking forward to queueing 20 minutes to get weighed in!

It's not for you.

Why not tell us here what you're looking for in a weight loss 'club', why you have chosen to go to a club at all, what you want to achieve, why you feel you're not achieving that and so forth.

Many people on MN will step up and maybe advise alternatives that suit you and your lifestyle better.

IMHO and god knows, it can only be mine!- I think support and motivation can be hugely helpful but only if it acknowledges 'failure' for what it is rather than just always saying 'never mind/it doesn't matter/we're only human/give yourself a break' but not sometimes saying 'OK, you goofed. Why did you goof? What factors were present to make you think 4 slices of cheesecake were OK? Have you turned them over in your mind? Can you learn anything from them? Have you tried this? If I were you, I'd..' etc

I detailed on another thread how the WW I attended in 1986 (as support for mate, I was 5lbs 'overweight') was nothing but a social club for overweight, middle aged, poorly educated women. Bet many of them kept going or years, too!

I used to go to a SW meeting weekly, there were women who had been going for 12 years! It was a gossipy, self-indulgent whine fest.

Why do it to yourself? find something that works for you instead of paying a million-pound diet industry your hard earned cash? Find a thread on here for support, I am on the Bootcamp thread and the support there is awesome :)

I lost two and a half stone on Slimming World and love the eating plan but I only ever stayed for one meeting and absolutely hated it. I just went to the weigh-in and left. For me, knowing someone else was recording my weight was enough motivation. I didn't need to hear what everyone else had lost or gained. It's a shame they do that as I'd have been keen to stay if they'd just discussed recipe ideas and things to actually help you stick to the plan.

I hated SW meetings, it was like bloody butlins. Raffles and 'biggest losers' baskets.

It was fucking awful.

I go WW now and at my 2nd location and really like my leader there, can you try a different venue?
