Cambridge Diet 5 stone goal

Pompbear · 02/01/2013 10:24

Anyone want to join me? I'm starting tomorrow. Have had great success on CD before but 2 babies and a hellish 2012 have led to a terrible weight gain.

I know some people disapprove, but it works for me. Previously I used it to lose weight and then maintained eating a healthy diet with plenty of protein, veg and occasional fruit and starchy veg, a bit of brown rice every now and then. Nuts, seeds, small amounts of dairy. It worked really well and I felt great for years. As soon as I started snacking on sugary crap because I was so stressed and upset, the weight piled on and I craved carby meals. I couldn't face my usual healthy , tasty meals which I previously really enjoyed. Totally vicious cycle. Anyway, the stress has gone and I'm determined to fix my weight and my health.

I want to keep this thread positive, motivational and free from talk of food and cheating!

Start weight 14.3 (yikes)

I need a buddy! Day 1 of slim and save for me. Currently 225lb :-( want to lose roughly 5 stone but will see how I feel when I get near that. Not the first time I've done a VLCD but am desperate AGAIN. My husband is away for 2 months so desperate to lose at least 2 stone x

PS Slim & save is cheaper with a wider option. I found my CD counsellor wasn't actually that helpful. I've only told my husband I'm doing it, no one else.

Yay! A reply!

Just off to look up slim and save....

2 stone is easily do-able in 2 months!

Smile Hello! 2 stone is my starting point, got a loooooooong way to go. Not been too bad today except for tea time. Couldn't resist some ham but it's nothing compared to what I normally eat.My S&S order is coming tomorrow and I'm actually excited about trying the meals and having the bars. Having 4 packs a day should help me through. Have you got an order tomorrow or already got some in the house? x

Is your CDC any good? I found that mine didnt motivate me at all. If I can get through till Monday I'll be ok. Back to work and the kids back at school, usually so busy that I don't have time to think about it.

I'm starting cambridge tomorrow - just been to get my stuff today - hopefully going to do a few weeks then try and low carb - just like the kick start of the big weight loss

Good luck pink90. Day 2 for me. The kids are driving me insane so it is testing me to my limits Angry

I don't really bother with my CDC much, just grab my shakes and run! Haven't started today as had no response and only have enough for a few days. Low carving until I can get more. Going to order some slim and save tonight because I just want to get started. I think it will be easier when school starts back, our aren't back until weds! Driving me mad at the moment with constant arguing over toys.

Picking my packs up tonight, phew! And ordered a slim and save intro pack so starting today. Have a really awful cold so hoping that will help anyway as no appetite...

How's everyone else? Me and my DH are in competition now. Whoever loses he most as a percentage by 1st April gets £50 to spend on whatever (assuming we have a spare £50 that it is!)

I'm really competitive so this should help keep me on track.

Hi, can I join in? I am (re) starting Lighter Life next Wednesday (9th). I lost 7 stone with them 4 years ago, but 3 pregnancies (1 miscarriage and 2 babies), a bout of PND and lots of stress later and I am probably looking at needing to loose the same again!

I have reached the desperate point though, which I think I need to be to find the motivation to get started on a VLCD, so I am feeling quite relieved that I have signed up again. My only worry is my DC2 is still not sleeping through at over a year and so I am knackered and I have memories of feeling quite tired on LL previously (and that was pre-kids wearing me out), but something has to give as I feel like my weight is out of control right now.

Anyway, good luck to everyone else and I will let you all know my starting weight after the meeting next week.

Yea, found some cd dieters Grin. I thought mn would be the last place and if I posted anything about it I would get slammed with the usual "it's dangerous, you put it all back on bla bla bla."
I know it's probably not as "healthy" as healthy eating but I like results and I'm an all or nothing person: and been having way too much ALL.
So I started cd 2 days ago and this is killer day 3, should be in ketosis by tonight. I have not cheated and lost 4 pounds already Grin.
I was 11.5 and want to be 9.7. I am going to do soul source for 2 weeks and then probably stay on it during the week and come off but eat healthy at weekends, see how that goes. I've got loads of social things coming up, usually I have no social life. Just typical!
The hardest thing I have found this time is cooking for my 3 year old. She eats like a sparrow and hoovering up her left overs has become a bad habit. Last time she was still just a baby. My son is 4 months and sometimes sleeps through but I am mostly up for one night feed and up with both of them by 6. So used to being tired.
I am also in competition with my dh, he has more to loose than me but its more about who can stick to it longer: I will not be the first to crack!
Good luck to those starting today or tomorrow Grin. We can Do It!

Day one was OK, this cold is terrible which is actually helping. I feel bloody awful but no appetite.

Been heating my Choc shakes up and they're really lovely as a hot Choc ( I can't taste much but I don't think you'd know it wasn't an ordinary hot Choc!).

My top tip for tiredness is Q10 supplement and additional iron supplement once or twice a week, have to be careful of constipation. I take lactulose before bed twice a week to help.

Hope everyone who has started is doing OK today. You can do it Puppy, the weight will be off in no time!

I like them warm too, in the morning I make my choc shake with filter coffee: it's like a mocha and gets me moving. I use one of those smoothly blenders, makes all the shakes and soups really fluffy.
Well done to everyone who got through today. I managed to go through Md drive through and it didn't kill me, nearly did though Wink

Still doing OK, how's everyone else? Had a sneaky peak on scales and am 5lbs down in 4 days of low Carb and now CDC so I'm pretty happy! Not finding it too hard yet either!

Am do SO focused on my goal it really helps. Another thing that has helped is thst I bought 4 tunics and some new leggings. Just cheap stuff but I was so uncomfortable squished into clothes much too small and I looked terrible. I'm not going yo win any style awards but I look presentable, there is no flesh escaping (!) And im comfortable! Been making effort to do hair a bit and put a little bit of makeup on so I feel better. Really seems to help motivate me. I had really given.up on myself before christmas and I was ready to give up and me fat. But no more! Slim I will be!!

Bought a new dress today too Pombear, it's all about the motivation! I just keep the phrase "nothing tastes as good as thin feels" running round my head. But I am getting bored, I love to cook and making the evening meal is a big part of my day and big glass if wine is a big part of relaxing. So I just feel at a loose end really. But that's another day done and dusted. Off to bed with a camomile tea.

Hi everyone, staring the Cd sole source tomorrow and am all excited. Hope to be on it for two months( how possible is that!) . Am presently size 18 but hoping for 12/14' . Leelteloo and pompbear are you guys exercising already?

Hiya, nope just because of this bloody cold. But I'm hoping to walk and possibly swim. Its tough as you have little energy but I'm going to try.

I'm aiming (I might be mad) for 5 stone in 4 months. So I really need to do some exercise if I can.

I'd like to be a 10/12!

Good luck for tomorrow.

Wrote really long post and stupid and it disappeared when I went to post....grrrr bloody mn app, don't you know I have very low blood sugar and I'm extremely irritable!!!!
Any how, hi Mamatwinnies, your weight loss plan sounds doable on the cd but at the beginning I doubt you'll have energy to exercise. You don't need to on ss, you loose weight any way.
Pombear, evening baths sound like a good idea. My dress is a black fitted number that doesn't look that great but hoping it will look lovely on my birthday next month.
Have a good food free day today all.

Woah! Feeling it today. The dreaded dsy 3/4. No energy, starving, headache. Going to be a struggle. Cold still going strong too, worst cold I've had in years, hardly slept because of coughing which doesn't help. Off for some red bush tea. Positive thoughts, positive thoughts!w

Bring on ketosis.... hopefully tomorrow?!

Hope you all have a good day!

Morning all. Well done to all who have started and stuck to it so far. 3 more days or normality for me then start on Thursday (late lighter life meeting on Wednesday night). I can't wait to get going as I feel like a whale now. I am up for a 5 stone target by June. I know its going to be tough but hoping that I will get in the groove like I did with LL the first time. Hope you all have good weeks and looking forward to seeing those pounds tumble!
