I'd love to lose a stone...

Classic case: been dieting for 10 years on and off, have a hubby who is probably a little underweight, have a 8mth old who needs stuff to be mashed, and I'd love to lose a stone. Saw a picture of me at a wedding yesterday, after I'd lost my pregnancy weight (only put on 6lb), and I nearly cried, looked massive.

I'm 25, a size 12-14, 5 7, and 11 st 8lb so a little chubby. I work 3 days a week and work in retail gardening so run around a bit and do lots of lifting.

I'd like to know if there's anyone who's managed to lose that last bit and if there's any tips?

Thank you

I'm pretty much exactly same height/weight as you and looking to do the same.

I managed to get down to 10st from 11st 7lb in about 3 months just over a year ago. I did it through eating healthily and exercising loads (yawn). Now have a 4 month old and back to 11st 7lb.

I'm in if you are.

Ok sounds like a challenge lol

So...
When to start?
What's goal weight?
Deadline for loss?

Could do weekly weigh in and write anything that could help ie meal ideas, exercises, how to beat cravings?

Can i join? I recently lost 4 stones but have put one on in the month of December :-( . Id like to lose it again so i can fit in my clothes! I'm about the same height and weight as both of you (i plan to weigh in first thing tomorrow). I think my strategy will be trying to keep under 1200 cals a day and having a dry January :-. I want to be slim by my 30th at the end of Feb....

1200 calories a day sounds pretty ruthless, but I think that sounds about doable. I was originally hoping to lose a stone by Valentines day, but I think end of Feb sounds a bit more realistic.

I'm currently checking the calorie content as I eat my way through the junk food in the cupboard. I working on the basis that if I eat it tonight it will be less tempting when I start the diet tomorrow.

Weigh in tomorrow then? (smile)

I dint think it will be too bad. Alpen porridge (breakfast) is about 150 cal, ww meals between 300 and 400, bananas about 100, yoghurts about 100, 1/2 tin baked beans 200 etc etc. if i have no alcohol then i have more cals to play with :-)

Dry January to help my liver recover after a heavy Christmas... Apparently wine is 147cal for a small glass... (so will be introducing that in Feb :-)). Google is going to be my calorie counting friend..

Ok so the results are in. I'm officially 11st 7lb. A whole 1st 7lb heavier than this time last year. Yikes!

I'm in, I need to lose a stone too. I did it a couple of years ago by eating 500 calories/day less than I normally eat. For me that meant dropping down from ~2200-2300 Blush to 1800. Didn't do any exercise either. I had tried 1200 calories/day with exercise 3 times per week previously, and it didn't work as well as 1800/day with no exercise!

I have lost 2 stone since September & hubby has lost 3 using the My Fitness Pal app. It's free and very easy to use. It's basically calorie counting without the hassle as they have a huge database of food and you can barcode scan stuff too. Still hoping to lose a bit more by doing a bit of exercise as it's all been dieting so far!

I've just lost umm nearly three stone with WW. The last half a stone over christmas. It's easy. Of course in my case I'm spending upwards of six hours a week running around a stage (ie exercise helps a lot). Just do a little more moving and more drinking at mealtimes (water).

And assume it's inevitable that it will happen. It will. :)

Happy New Year.

Marking my place for when motivation starts at the weekend...too much yummy food and booze left to be starting today!

I had lost 1.5 stone. Too scared to get on the scales following the xmas binge-fest!

I'm the same height and weight as you, op, tho frighteningly top heavy. I'd like to lose about a stone - to be under 11st would do for starters.

Going to use my gym membership properly, play more tennis when the weather allows and also eat a lower carb, more fruit and water-filled diet.

Can I join, I have totally binged this xmas knowing that a healthy eating and exercise regime was coming which means I've eaten food that I didnt particularly want to eat. I'm going to finish off the booze today and start tomorrow. I'm going to join the gym too, I find if I exercise then I don't want the junk and booze half as much. Will weigh in tomorrow, eek.

Hello
Please can I join this thread. I'm 5ft 8 & weigh 12.6, have just had a baby (6 wks old) but would love to get down to 10st - haven't been that weight for yrs. Pre pregnancy I was 11st, snacking is my vice. I lost 1st in the first week after he was born AND I'm breastfeeding but half a stone seems to have creeped on! Hmm

If you are anything like me summer the excess weight will be lattes, cake and other convenient fatty and sugary things in between feeds to to get a quick fix in terms of hunger and blood sugar. I lost 4 stone when my ds was young and still bf doing ww (basically cutting out processed food). It comes off quickly when you get going!

i'm a large lady, getting an underactive thyroid after my second child. I sort of went on a denial as i resented putting on all the weight and not through the good way of over eating. I have finally seen sense and need to lose 10 stone this year
