I need advice or guidance I have been big since I was a child and it has ruined my social life, I have never been to a night club or to a fairground and haven't wore a bikini since I was a child. I have a lot to loose and I want to loose it for my DS and DH and ME. But I always struggle because the amount I need to loose is so vast. I try to think 1lb a week for example then get upset as I work out how long it would take me to loose the weight. Has any one lost a serious amount of weight ( naturally) how did you do it? Or if you have a similar target weight loss whats keeping you in the straight and narrow. Please share your success as this is gunna be a life change for me and need your support.

I just want to say good luck. I also have a lot to lose.

Marking my place and hoping for inspiration.

I've lost nearly 3.5 stone since July and have another 4.5 - 5 stone to lose (I'll decide on my final target when I get nearer to it). My mini targets are half a stone at a time.

It is daunting to start with but back in the summer something just clicked with me after yet another year of sweltering in plus size jeans rather than being comfortable in shorts.

I'm using MyFitnessPal (MFP) and sticking to 1200 calories a day. I split it into 300 for breakfast, 400 for lunch and 500 for dinner. Eating junk between meals was just a bad habit that I've managed to break.

I've had 3 days 'off' for Christmas but have got back to it today.

When I first joined MFP I read something that has really stuck with me:

"losing weight and not eating whatever you fancy is hard, being overweight and lugging around a hot, sweaty uncomfortable body is hard - pick your hard".

Good luck to you - you are worth it.

There are people on the 5:2 threads who have lost several stone since the summer.
It comes down to setting small targets and hitting them regularly, and not depriving yourself all the time.
5:2 is good like that, because its not possible to 'fall off the wagon'
