How about a lovely new thread where we can pat each other's backs and applaud the virtue of all the exercise we're going to do to get rid of the skinny fat, and just be stronger and fitter?

What are you going to do? I'm not a massive fan of Jillian, so I'm doing different Tracy Anderson DVDs. I just did the post pregnancy one and may need some the therapy it was so hard ;)

Id love to join you - my DS1 described my upper arms of feeling lovely and soft like JELLY last night!!!! I wear a small size 8 but am just bones and loose skin - not nice.
I hide myself in clothes, I would love to feel more confident with my body.
I tried Shred last year and loved it but it really hurt my knees - so gave up!!
Ive got the 10 minute solution - Target Toning for beginners DVD, so planning doing that tomorrow and might add in a 30 minute very slow walk to the nursery with DS2 and a 15 minute power walk back.

Hello, I'm in!

Am 5 foot 4, 8 stone 13, BMI of 21, size 8 and I have zero core strength, no real muscle tone and I am untoned to the max.

Fruit - that describes me... I have loose skin and am skinny in parts. It's not great. I look fine in clothes however.

I have a kettle bell - might do something with that?

Shall we set some personal goals?

Unfortunately I have just had a car accident and have a broken nose so give me a few days! I shall blether on about my exercise plans on here in the meantime however.

Count me in too! Have been aiming to improve my overall tone for some time now.

I've been doing zumba, body pump and body attack once per week but think I need to do Body pump twice to really see a difference. Unfortunately I've pulled my achilles so may not get to any classes this week so will concentrate on doing some core conditioning at home and borrow DS hand weights which are 5kg each.

How's everyone else this fine freezing snowy morning? I got up at 6 and did the post pregnancy workout again, apart from the arms bit at the end because children were getting up by that bit. But to be honest, my arms were killing me from all the planks so I reckon they've had a decent workout anyway. I feel a bit stronger. I think this was the fourth time I've done it and I didn't swear at her as much today. Must be an improvement... Now, must not bask in my virtue and eat biscuits all day :)

Thanks for starting the thread, what a great idea :)

I went for a swim yesterday, made me realise how out of shape I am. Only 10 lengths but it hurt, arms and legs were like jelly afterwards Blush. I'm going to try to go weekly, and also start doing a mid-week gym session to do some resistance work.

Ok.... moving swiftly on from the very post natal state of my skinny fat body... Gordon, you were talking about personal goals. I am 5 ft 3 no idea what my weight body fat or bmi are but if I put batteries in the whizzy flashy scales I could find out. I don't really care how much I weigh but I guess body fat percentage could be a useful thing to know. I'd like not to have a muffin top. I'd like not to have the wodge of fat around my arse. I'd like to feel as confident out of clothes as I do in them.

I think if I do one of the DVDs I've got 4 or 5 times a week all those things I'd like might actually happen!

Thanks gracelesslady, don't think it's a bad one so will be ready to tone my butt shortly Grin.

Out of interest has anyone done a pilates class at a a local gym? Worth doing so?

Can I join please?

I've done pilates kaumana, it's great for stretching, relaxing and stress relief IMO, and for starting to build core strength, but not great for really good strength or for weight loss.

Gracelesslady my baby is 5 today! Xmas Blush Time to get serious about the belly fat now I think!

The only thing that has worked for me is weights - heavy ones, like kettle bells - combined with hard swimming sessions.

I go to an outdoor fitness session about once a week (sometimes more) which is a bit like British Military Fitness but with a lot less shouting.

My goal - to be strong! I'm not going to worry particularly about my weight, more about the weight that I can lift. E.g. I can swing a 14 kg kettle bell for a minute, I want to work up to a 16 kg.

Strong is the new skinny Xmas Smile

Hello! Welcome to all the new folks! I've just got in from work, I'm hoping for a full two hours sleep so I'm not planning on doing any exercise today, other than staying vertical when required. Delight me with tales of kettle bells swung and press ups completed for when I wake up. Ta muchly xx

Hi all, wondered if someone had started a thread for this and very glad to see someone did. I got my DD to take my measurements on Sunday so i know my starting point. I'll follow the NO gym workout book for a few weeks and see how i get on (looks easy but it will get me back into the swing of doing strength training on a regular basis). I already walk very fast to work 3-4 times a week plus extra so have cardio covered. My goal is to lose at least 2 inches from my widest part and an inch from my waist and feel firmer by my birthday in 10.5 weeks time!

Oooh what's the no gym workout?? I like the sound of no gym.

Feel urgh. You know how I got up at 6 yesterday to do my exercise DVD? Well I've had about 3 hours sleep since then. I hate working shifts. I feel like I'm walking through treacle and looking after the kids is so difficult. Am going to have a glass of wine and an early night and hopefully do workout again in the morning. When I might feel like a person instead of a zombie...

Colete do you find that weird parts of your body hurt?? Like in the legs bit when you're kneeling on hands and knees, the leg I'm working hurts a bit, but it's the supporting one that really hurts sort of deep inside my bum muscle? (Or is this just me?!)

Re. pains in other places know what you mean , think she mentions the supporting leg might also hurt and that's good !
Good luck with your goal bluebird68.
Just done Davina power of 3 for a change and it felt quite easy Xmas Confused am hoping its because TA is harder.

Anybody with a Wii in the house, pick up a copy of Wii Fit and the board (very cheap second hand at cashconverters now) and work through all of the balance / yoga stuff : great for core

if you have a gym membership, have a look at BodyBalance - looks easy through the door. Is Not.

Colette I gave up on Davina! Compared to shredding, running and Tracy, I just found it time consuming and nowhere near challenging enough. Never did her power of 3 though and frankly, I think any kind of exercise is applause worthy. I'm drinking wine and eating crisps. Back to virtue tomorrow Xmas Grin
