5 stone to lose over the next year...anyone else in?

mummyisafatty · 21/11/2012 22:31

Hiya, I'm wondering if anyone else wants to chat or swap stories tips etc. I started at 16 stone 5lbs. I am now 15 stone 11 so have lost half a stone this week... probably just water weight and it won't keep coming off this easy but it's a start and I feel good to know I am starting to do something about it after 8 years of thinking I really should address my weight.

I have 2 gorgeous children. One age 5, the other is 11 months. My body seemed to spring back a lot better after DS1 than it did DS2 BUT I can not blame this on baby weight. I am greedy! Bottom line is I eat too much and I eat the wrong things. I constantly crave junk. I really think I am food obsessed! Anyone else???

I don't have five stones to lose, more like 4 and a bit but I would like to join in as well. I am currently at 12.5 but I was 14.2 in summer. I would like to be less than 9 stone again.

I have more than 5 stome to lose, but I've made a good start - I'm doing slimming world and I've lost 21lb so far. I'm doing a fast forward this week (its very strict) and hoping to lose 6-7lb. I am currently 18st 2, and want to be around 11

I have 5 stone to loose, have lost a stone and a bit with Slimming World, weigh in later!. There are a few ladies at my group who have lost 4 stone in 6 months, RL proof that it's possible!

Welcome everyone!

Well to the ladies on slimming world, my very good friend has lost 4 stone using slimming world and got down to her target weight in 9 months so I know it can be done. She's done brilliantly and I think it's her in a way that has proved to me that it CAN be done. She looks and feels amazing and yet is rarely hungry so I know it must work. I would have trouble getting to the meetings though as DH works long hours and odd days so I'd struggle for childcare and to commit to something every week. I am getting tips off her though. I think whatever method you use it can work as long as you're consistant and stick to it.... easier said than done!

I am looking at 5:2 way of eating at the minute too. Need to research more. How's everyone doing today?

I am hoping by next wednesday to have lost another 4lbs so fingers crossed. Good luck everyone.

I've lost 2st 11lb since July, no magic bullet, I just gradually ate smaller portions and stopped snacking, eat fruit and salad instead of cake and bread etc. I have another 11lb to go to my target weight, should shift that by new year.

Wow Inmysparetime that's amazing. Well done. That its brilliant. Nice to know it didn't have to be any severe rash diet inorder to achieve the results.

Well I am avoiding the scales as yesterday I ate FAR too much cake and pizza but today I have been back n track and feel better for it. Fingers crossed I get some pay back on the scales next week!

How is everyone doing?

I lost 6 and 1/2 stone since mid June . 3 and 1/2 to go it has took very strict dieting (low calorie and low carb ) plus working out daily . I also given up gluten and 90% of dairy . in that time I did allow myself two days of for weekend away

But I feel so much better for it . You can do it
If few bad days try look at weight loss over the month rather than the week thay way not dis heartened also drink plenty of water

Find something that's tight /to small and try on regularly also set small goals rather than look at overall as may seem to daunting . Small treats ( not food ) every time loose say 7lb I still do now can be something like buying nail varnish

Right down your reasons /motovation . Mine was fear of seal belt extension on flight next year

Started mid June at slimming world with 5+ stone to lose. have lost 3 and a half stone so far and have found it easy tbh and cross that i havent tried it before. it works for me because l like cooking, i like planning meals in advance and i dont like weighing and measuring. want to keep it off so have set myself a year to get to where i want to be. also walk 20 mins every day and 2 exercise classes a week. my experience of fad and crash diets is that is exactly what they are - fads you get bored of and crashes you bounce back up from in terms of weight. havent the will power to go it alone and find my local group really supportive particularly on the internet. good luck set yourself small achievable goals - half a stone at a time. and go slow to keep it off.

Welsome everyone who has joined and thank you to those who have shared their stories and tips. Seems to be a lot of dedicated people here, you've all lost huge amounts, you must feel great!

I like the idea of writing down my motivation and reasons for doing it. Main reasons to lose weight are as follows:

  • Going on holiday to Spain in June, taking the boys to a water park and really don't want to feel like I can't get in the pool or fit down the slides with them!

  • My 30th birthday is in 2014 and I just CAN NOT see out my 20s in this state. I feel crap and look pretty unfit.

  • I want to have more energy and not be out of breath running around after our boys.

Think that's about it, other than I just want to be able to buy clothes that look and fit nicer.

I lost 5st 10 from November-July, I started reducing portions and then found mfp and logged there. At the end was on 1200 calories but now vary between 1500 and 1800 to have maintained since. I went from size 18, 14st 13 to size 8 9st 3 at 5'5". I highly recommend not cutting out foods you like and making a lifestyle change, so something you can live with forever not just something you can stick at for a few months! I found little treats like hot chocolate and the cadbury thin bars only 110 calories, I was hungry the first few weeks but found I can no longer eat the same portions I used to. I also did the c25k and now run three times a week (burns around 300 calories a time now but more when I was heavier). Good luck with your journey, I have loads more energy and can run around after my boys all day :)

Wow cinnamongreyhoud well done on your amazing weight loss! You must feel amazing knowing you did it! I seriously wish I had your motivation. I am 5 feet 8" and have been overweight all of my adult life too. I started to gain weight at the age of 18 and was 11 stone 8 around my 18th birthday by the time I was 19 I was 12 stone 8 and have just gone up and up since then :-( I haven't been an ideal healthy weight since I was 16 so I totally understand what you mean about breaking the bad habits. I just don't even know where to start. Feeling like it's suh a long long journey and my body is in such a state I don't know if it can ever go back to anything decent. Will my skin go back or will it be loose and saggy after losing 5 stone?

I have loose skin on my upper arms, thighs, knees, boobs and tummy but it is improving already and it's only been 4 months. I think it depends on your skin, how much care you take, how quickly you lose it and your age.

Thank you cinnamon I am 28 so I am hoping young enough for my skin to recover! Hopefully if I lose it sensibly than the skin should shrink- I am hoping this is the case anyway!!!

Well done on your weight loss, I am still trying but am yet to get weighed this week but I will do later on today.

I am in

I am going to WW and get weighed in a hour Grin

I have currently lost 29 lbs and love the plan- it suits me as I have turned my obsession with food to an obsession with Pro points!!!

I started at 17 stone 2 and would like to be at least 12 stone in 2014.

Hi, can I join you all please?

I had my daughter 17 months ago, and put 4 stone on whilst pg, scoffing Haagen Daas and Chips :/ The excuse 'I've just had a baby' doesn't wash any more!

Last Sunday I went to my works Christmas party and came home at 10pm feeling old and fat. I weighed in at 15st10lbs at 5ft3, eek! I've been dieting all week and have lost 6lbs, a great kick start and I hope it's given me the motivation to keep going and lose 2/3lbs a week. I'm calorie counting and aiming for 1200-1400 a day

Looking forward to getting to know you all :)

I am also looking to cut down on weight. 1 stone in every 3 months, 4 stones is a year is my target. I am thinking to go for a weight loss plan which will help me achieve my targets.
