It just will not shift ! I've had my third baby 3 months ago was back to my pre preg 14 and a half stone about a week after birth . I'm breastfeeding too . I have either toast/porridge breakfast time buscuits and cup of tea at lunch or cuppa soup and ryvita and quite a large dinner Blush prob because I'm starving by then ! I also have pnd :( some mornings I will have breakfast then feel guilty all day about it which will then either make me snack more or get really snappy cause I'm worrying about it ! I can't afford slimming world or weight watchers or a gym . I walk as much as possible but sometimes it's not doable when cleaning decorating ferrying kids to school and clubs . How do you loose weight when u are really busy plus my DP likes proper heavy food as he has a physical job so I would have to make me something different to him and kids looooong :(

Good God woman! Your baby is only 3 months old! What do you expect! Have a larger lunch...not ryvita! You're breastfeeding!

What time do you have your evening meal? Earlier is better. My sister does not eat the same food as her DH and DC...because she's slimming...she makes their meal an then has steamed fish and veggies or grilled chicken...you could have the heavy dinner if you have less though.

I seriously will end up really depressed if I eat more then ryvitas or any lunch for that matter :( I know I'm breastfeeding but because I'm so big I feel guilty about eating anything? We have takeaway once a week usually a Friday so I will only eat breakfast that day as I know I will b eating bad at dinner time ! My baby is 3mo but I've been this size for years and I'm really fed up with it I'm so uncomfortable it's unreal my hips keep getting in the way ha ha

Can you think of food in terms of health and nutrition instead of dieting?
I had a baby a month ago and want to lose weight. Im trying to have healthy but substantial meals.
Cup a soup is rubbish and so are biscuits for lunch. Can you swap it for a more decent soup where you actually get some vitamins/fiber/goodness from it?
Eat some fruit during the day and have a healthy snack late afternoon. Spread your calories evenly in the day.
If you eat properly during the day you wont need to over eat in the evening and so will start to lose weight. You'll probably feel more energetic and healthier too.

Have a look at the Harcombe website - www.theharcombedietclub.com/ you can eat lots but you cut out all sugar, processed foods and caffeine and don't mix carbs and fats in one meal. I've lost a stone and have just 6 lbs to go, dh has lost 1.5 stone in 2 months, he has another 2 to lose. Mind you, the first few days are tough, with caffeine and sugar withdrawal symptoms. The forum is great, very helpful people.

You need to be keep up your energy while breastfeeding.

Reducing the amount you eat just puts your body in starvation mode so you store as much as possible and often put the weight back on when you start eating "normally" again.

if you've been 'stuck' at a weight you're unhappy with for several years then whatever you've been doing wrt eating is not working, so you need to do something differently

i agree with jahan that you need to think about food as nutrition and fuel. Try having eggs for breakfast and something filling like chicken salad (with a good oily dressing) for lunch. eat good, clean, non-processed foods like fresh meat, fish, eggs, butter and fresh vegetables, and maybe consider low carb if you think it would be right for you. i have heard good things about the harcombe diet too. any route you do take needs to be sustainable (you may need to change your eating habits for the rest of your life), so do try to find a diet that is enjoyable and where you can can look forward to your food

i have had serious issues with food in the past, so you have my total sympathy (and hugs for you with your PND - it must make it all so much harder), but is there any way you can get past your feelings of guilt around food?

I second Willie. My post pregnancy weight is 14 stone, which is three too many (at least). I did weightlossresources for two months and lost a stone, and then, following the low carb bootcamp on here, have lost another two stone, really very easily. The thing with low cal for me is that I would lose weight, but never get as slim as before, my plateau weight was getting steadily higher. I'm now slimmer than before kids, enjoy my food, and my appetite no longer rules my life. Cutting out wheat and grain based carbs, and starchy veg has been nothing short of miraculous. It's not a diet. It's a way of eating.

I know I sound evangelical, and I am! It has seriously changed my life. I can't see that bread/pastry etc will ever be a large part of my diet again.

Also though, you're three months post partum. Do give yourself some time!!

If you're wondering about what to eat on a low carb diet, have a look at the bootcamp threads - even if you just lurk most people post what they eat every day so you can pick up a lot from that.

I've lost 2.5 stone since the end of July eating low carb, but I was in the right place iyswim. I have a problem with emotional eating/bingeing so there's no diet in the world that will help with that, so I needed to be able to face that.

Sorry if that sounds a bit woo.

I choose not to eat carbs most of the time but in the Harcombe diet you can eat carbs, just not mixed with fats or meat. Just cutting out potatoes, bread, biscuits and sugar will already make a huge difference though.

Omlette
Eggs & Bacon
Scrambled Eggs
Leftovers from dinner (not everyone's cup of tea, I know)
Greek yoghurt (low carb, not no carb)

I tend not to have breakfast, so I'm not the best person to give advice but they're some ideas to get you started.

My dh has 4 rashers of bacon and 2 fried eggs every morning, I have omelette with ham and peppers in it made with 4 eggs, keeps me full for 3-4 hours. You can make porridge with water or skimmed milk with a sprinkling of cinnamon.

For lunch we either have roast chicken quarters (usually 2 or 3) or home made root veg soup (no bread and butter, you could have wholemeal bread without the butter) or we have salad with hard boiled eggs and Wiltshire ham (because all other ham is cooked with sugar).

Instead of having more veg with your dinner to replace the potatoes, have more meat, it fills you up more and is more satisfying.
