We managed to fill the thread before the end of the week, so I'm starting the next one.

Here is the Spreadsheet of Wonderfulness for you to record your weight tomorrow

Those of you who are coming towards the end of your first week of low carbing, I hope you haven't suffered too much from carb withdrawal. It's a bit of an eye-opener, though, isn't it, how much of a grip carbs have on us, that they should make us feel so bad once we stop eating them?

Now we're through the first week you should start to feel much better and more energetic. By now you should be getting to grips with low carbing and - hopefully - have a better understanding of what to do and (most importantly!) what not to do.

I know that the weekend isn't quite over, and I know that there has been a fair bit of cheating going on for some of us (and I include myself here). Let's get back on that wagon and make sure we're strict for the rest of the week, before we move on to Bootcamp Light!

Here endeth the lesson ... Grin

Marking my place. Still no weight loss for me this week. Am going to eat more and see what happens. Just had a long swim which has set me up for the day. Am now going to start making Christmas cakes. Of course I won't be eating them Grin

Marking place.

Didn't lose any more, but that was to be expected since I had wine yesterday.

Not sure what to do today as we are flying to Germany. Have no more fresh food in the house and would normally grab a sandwich at the airport. Will see what I can find, but may have to cheat today.

Will be back to bootcamp tonight though.

Just read BIWI's shouty rant from last night.

You know what is strange - I don't crave sweet stuff at all. I really enjoyed my glass of wine last night, but I don't miss desserts and chocolate. Weird.

Marking my place. I definitely need to be stricter this week. Having low carbed for a long time, it was much harder than I'd anticipated to go back to bootcamp... Maybe harder than the first time when i was starting from scratch, if that makes any sense. think i had reached a kind of comfort zone where I knew what I could get away with without gaining. But the thing is I've hit a plateau and would like to shift another 10-14lb so really must toughen up.

Will do better this week!

Thanks for new thread.

I did OK til Thursday when my cold started, snuck in some wine, not enough water, but weirdly no bits of toast etc. I will see how the scales are tomorrow but I think I am firmly entrenched not to want to go too far off piste. I have no social things this week til Sat and hopefully cold on the wane so should be able to bootcamp properly. Hurray!

Morning all.

seeing as I've not been able to get my hands on kale yet I made crisps last night out of grilled pepperoni. Was yum. The Waitrose own brand pepperoni is super-low carb (I think some others have norty fillers in them)

Sat food report:
b:fancy scrambled eggs
L: nothing
T:nothing
Water:1ltr

however, before BIWI gets all shouty and waves that big stick about. I took a nap sat lunchtime and didn't wake up until sunday morning. A whole 19hrs of sleep. I'd like to say i feel better for it but i have a killer dehydration headache and every single muscle in my body hates me and has gone stiff.

Food plan for today:
B: bacon and eggs
L: tea from last night (fish and veg)
T: lamb and veg.
Snacks: yoghurt, salad, cheese (perhaps but possibly not)

Exercise plan: gentle stretching. Plus 1 hour intensive physio work if I remember and there is time.

Marking place. Mme Lindor safe trip! Airports are a nightmare for food on the go, unless you can get yourself a fry up?

Green eyes don't leave!

Dinner party was a success, my intake was as follows:

Roasted red pepper and tomato soup - did not have the homemade rosemary scones
Lamb and chorizo stew with buttered cabbage and bacon bits - did not have the buttery mashed potato, and picked out the butter beans
Pudding went down a treat, guests had seconds and didn't believe that I had made it myself Grin. Will deffo make that again it was a total winner. I did not have any.
Rather a lot of cheese - and I do hold my hand up to 3 small crackers eaten with it
1 g&t, 2 glasses of prosecco and 2 glasses of red.

So terrible on the alcohol front, but could have been a lot worse on the food side. Will be super good today and just hope that I maintain on the scales tomorrow.

BIWI a planned cheat of alcohol on the weekend is a good idea I think - I expect you are completely stunned that that is my position on the matter Grin. It would deffo help me stay away from wine during the week.

B: a cup of decaf tea, with lactose free milk, a berocca, and a pint of water so far. Waiting for dh and ds1 to get home from footie and will do a fry up.

TMI ALERT - anyone else got green poo when strictly low carbing? Maybe it's all the veg....

morning

I am NOT WELL. I need help. I feel sick, yet am starving. I have a head cold. I am craving porridge, it's all I can think about. What should I eat? I'm not going to cheat, but I need to feel better. I can make soup for later but I have no idea what to eat just now.

God I feel awful. and I weighed myself. Nothing lost. Fuck.

Well done Bloss on the dinner party

New start- sounds like your body is telling you something! Be kind to yourself x

Mmelindor- safe trip. Airports are a nightmare. I found one salad in boots which was pretty low carb tuna Nicosia in Boots. Other than that pepperami and nuts see me through.

havent weight myself, but I know I have lost inches! I can see it, feel it and have peed it.

Back is a little better today. Still horizontal mostly and lots of meds.

Report
NewStartSameStory · 07/10/2012 10:56

I am doing this to be kind to myself. I haven't slept properly in months, and previously it has had to be med induced. Physio reduces pain, pain causes comfort eating. Am stiff today because I did 2 intensive training sessions and didn't stretch out yesterday. It is impossible to do that level of exercise and not be stiff if you don't stretch. And having had 1 1.2 ltr water now the headache is receeding. Caffine headache has kicked in BUT there will be at most 2 cups today rather the pre last week 6 or 7. There is no way to get this put back together without being a bit harsh. But the long term benefits are huge. I am not craving sugar this morning. I am eating veg (which is a huge thing for me) and i have energy and less snipey.

last week exercise: 3 intensive stamina sessions, 2 flexibility and core work, and 1 physio session. This is a gentle full training week, not a recovery week. Next week in theory should be stepped up but will see how I feel.

footsy:- big fry up, cauliflour cheese, broccoli cheese works well. Hot stuff is better comfort food then cold so I would avoid salads today personally.

Incidentally what i am I doing wrong with my salads that leave me starving hungry a hour later? Is it a state of mind thing?

Salad: lettice, celery, raddishes, coleslaw, cheese.

I don't like oil or dressings on my salad gives it a funny texture and I have food texture issues. Is there anything I can do to make it fill me up for longer?

butterfliesinmytummy · 07/10/2012 11:37

newstart I think more protein and fat in your salad might help. I would go for a mega salad with any combination of hardboiled egg, fried mushrooms, avocado, smoked salmon, prawns, bacon, fried chorizo, fried halloumi or even a blue cheese dressing (olive oil, lemon juice, strong soft blue cheese). Might help to keep hunger levels down.... I realise that if you have food texture issues stuff like avocados and smoked salmon might not be great but I'm sure there's some more food you can add?

Report
WineGless · 07/10/2012 12:35

New start you need fat with your salad up release the vitamins anyway. Is there any sort of dipping sauce you could try do that it's not drizzled over all the salad? Defo up your fat intake as that what keeps you full plus that's what your body will be using for fuel. As you are training did you look at the mark Sissonz site for more specific recommendations?

Report
NewStartSameStory · 07/10/2012 12:45

Looked but struggled to find specific recommendations. Suffering carb flu today. I also think my body has gone into shock over the sleep thing.

I think i will really struggle with oil drizzled or dipped tbh. I will include mushrooms and eggs and bits and bobs to up the protein and then when I have adjusted to all the changes that challenge all my food issues many many issues Then perhaps I will be in the right place to try the dipping thing. I am wary of pushing myself over an edge into the fuck it just won't eat anything state of mind. It is a risk I have to be very careful about managing as I am a pro at it.
