If you have lost 3 stone or more, how did you do it?

I have 3 stone to lose til I get into healthy weight range and 4 stone to lose ideally.

I've tried pretty much everything but I'm not very good at sticking to low cal diets like Cambridge, but on the other hand, I tend to lose motivation when losing only 1lb a week on Weight Watchers etc.

What level of exercise do I need to be doing for weight loss?

Is the new Weight Watchers pro points easier or pretty much the same.

I know it's down to me at the end of the day but I am just looking for ideas at the moment.

TIA

I lost 4 stone with slimming world. So much freedom of choice and I am never hungry!

I lost 3+ stones once on the Atkins diet which suited me as I love fat and meat Grin. But found it very difficult to stick to as I don't like cutting out or even minimising food groups as it simply makes me think about food too much. Ditto any slimming plans like SW, WW, calorie counting. I like diets where I don't need to think about food all the time or restrict food groups so I'm now on the Paul McKenna eating plan which simply has four rules:

  • Eat what you want
  • Eat only when physically hungry
  • Eat consciously/slowly
  • Stop eating when physically satisfied.

Easiest eating plan I've ever been on and can eat what I want, even ice cream, biscuits and chocolate. But have lost 22lbs in 10 weeks and still losing. Not thinking about food at all.

Here's the thread (it's long and very very active, with loads of positive support and lovely ladies):

I was 12 5 in October, post DC3 and breastfeeding. Now around 9 stone. I am 5 foot 4. Took around 5 months.

I can send you my weight loss stats on excel if you PM me, but basically lost 2lbs every week until I was within a stone of target.

I started off with tesco diets, totals plan - eat what you want but keep to the number of totals they recommend. If you ate sensibly it was 1200-1300 cals a day but unhealthy things like chocolate had very high totals so if you had some it would mean you'd end up eating less calories that day IYSWIM. I was very strict with it and did not cheat. I did save myself enough totals for a small treat each day though.

I went to the gym 3x a week and initially did EA sport active on wii every non gym day for 45 mins, later did shred on non gym days.

Reached plateau just over 10 stone, cut down on carbs (upped protein) - no pototoes, rice, bread, etc etc but it wasn't ketosis diet as did eat dairy, 1 apple a day.

My friend has lost 6 or 7 stone with WW. It's taken her the best part of 18 months, but it never stopped her going for drinks/meals out and the weight seems to be staying off.

I need to lose a few pounds, but I don't fancy the whole group thing of going to WW meetings. And I'm sure I'd cheat on the online version, so just waste my money. Before having children, I lost 2 stone with a (very unstrict) atkins diet. But I was doing lots of exercise back then too, which I guess helps.

I am also doing Paul McKenna, and I am down 2 stone already, which is already more than I ever lost at WW or SW :)

My partner uses Jack 3dits a pre work out drink and raises the metabolism to enable more energy and more weight loss

I have lost over 3 stone doing something very simple - regular, high intensity exercise, and eating healthy.

Seriously, that's it. Burning 1000 calories a day. Done.
