LeeWT · 11/01/2011 10:02

I have just started propoints and thought we could share good ideas but also shockers that we might assume are ok from the old points but are now quite high..

Please add anything good or bad you've discovered I need all the help I can get!!

My few good discoveries are:
Full tray (240g) tesco value chunky tikka chicken - 7 pp (you'd get at least 3 decent sambos out of it)
2 turkey rashers - 1pp
packet of skips 2pp
wotsits 3pp
mini drifter/kitkat 3pp
veg chow mein from Chinese - 6pp
m&s breaded chicken 5pp

My few bad discoveries are:
hula hoops - 5pp
McCoys crisps - 6pp

I have just figured out the points of some wholemeal bread rolls with poppy seeds from asda that I had in the freezer - 8 pp each! Shock More food for the bin then. Hmm

This is my very first day to pro points and feeling quite lost so I'll be following this thread for tips.

Great idea for a thread !

Angel foods
Philadelphia extra light mini tub (the little 1 portion ones you buy in 4s ) 1pp, lovely in jacket potatoes instead of butter
Eggs 2pp but 3 eggs are 5pp
Slim a soup brocolli and cauliflower and chicken and mushroom are 0pp
Chomps and fudge bars 3pp
Sugar free jelly 0pp
meringue nest 1pp

Devil foods
baked beans 5pp for half a can
jacket potato 8pp
realise these are not massively high but they are things I would eat in the past and think I was being really healthy.

Feel free to tell me if any of these are wrong as the WW points calculator is often wrong.

Angel - mullerlite = 2pp

once we get enough posts I'll consolidate angel
a devil lists for us all! I'm waiting for my shopping and eating out books to arrive..

Does this sound too good to be true - veggie chow mein + 1/2 portion of chips + 1/3 tub curry sauce = 16pp? I get 37 a day!

Are these done at home or from a take away Lee

DuplicitousBitch · 11/01/2011 12:35

potatoes are a bit of a shocker aren't they.

tbh i think you should jsut forget about all chocolate, biscuit and crisps to make it work

wings From a takeaway.. Eating out section says mushroom chow mein 6pp - mine has other veg but they're all free. A prtion of chips from chippy is pointed as 14 for 210g, I weighed my portion from the Chinese and it was 200g, I eat half so that's 7? And a full veg curry from the Chinese is 8pp an I just have a few tbsps of sauce so I figure 3?

What does everyone else get from Chinese/Indian/chipper?

duplicitous I can't live without the treats .. Not with my lack of sleep or social life so I have to make the best of it by choosing low pp treats like wotsits or mini crunchie!

Angel
Alpen light -2pp
Ryvita crackerbread , 2 for 1pp
Laughing cow extra light , 2 for 1pp but not 100% sure on that
Options hot choc -1pp
30g smoked salmon - 1pp
Total 0% Greek yoghurt - 2pp for the small pot
Pack of skips -2pp
Crumpet -2pp

Jacket potatoes are only 8pp if they are 400g raw weight which is pretty big. A 250g raw weight potato as a jacket is 5pp.

Dinner ideas-

Half bag tesco fresh egg noodles (7pp) as much free veg as you want and half jar of sharwoods stir fry black been sauce (2pp) = 9 or add some chicken for some more points!

WW tikka massala (10pp), teasp mango chutney (1pp), 2 pappadums (2pp if made in microwave) and roast veg (0pp) on the side = 13pp

Lunch idea-
tesco tortilla wrap (5pp though healthy living ones should be less), loads tesco chunky tikka chicken (3pp), lettuce and roast peppers (0pp) and dollop extra light mayo (1pp) = 9pp and absolutely gorgeous I had it today!

No points soup with lite toasty, 2 slices bread (4pp), ham (1pp) and cheese (2pp - I only like a tiny bit) and a packet of skips or wotsits (2pp) = 9pp

I realise these might be too high in points for some people but I have 37 a day and I'm on the go all day so I like to use at least 10 on lunch and dinner..

Marking my place as just started WW PPs.

I noticed earlier today that some of the Simply Fuller range from M&S were really low. Can't remember exactly, but the Chili Con Carne ready meal was 5 points (I think).

Report
DuplicitousBitch · 11/01/2011 19:43

you could make your own chilli and give yourself a 5 point portion.

I had a thai chicken snack pot from M and S for tea last night, think it was the count on us range. It was only 7 points so would be good for lunch. I also had one of their desserts-amaretto and chocolate but it was tiny (3 in a pack ) and wasnt worth the 3 points !

Had a pub lunch yesterday and when I got home worked out the points for mayo-3 for 1 tablespoon OMG !

ive just discovered home made soups, very low or zero points as most veggies are zero points.

my devil food is an avocado. ok. i know now that most people know its high in (good) saturated fats. but i didn't. and i was mugged of 9 pp from that tiny little green innocent looking thing, thinking i was being all healthy munching away on it only to add it to my tracker and discover its inner evil. Angry

WW tikka masala cooking sauce - half a jar 2 pp, (I had this today veggie curry it was really nice)

WW sweet and sour sauce - half a jar 2pp (yet to try)

My devil foods are standard (and large) Blush sized chocolate bars, I knew they were bad for me but I was kidding myself that they weren't that bad. I could never give up chocolate completely so....
my angel chocolate treats (all 2pp each)
cadbury magical elves bar
freddo frog bar
mini bag choc buttons.

I agree with mayo being a devil food, I used to have it with prawns. have now replaced with colman's seafood sauce (1pp for 1 tbsp).

Blondes, I aplogise in advance as am probably wrong but have a feeling that the M&S count on us range might well be the old points and not propoints as there aren't half points on pp but were on the old points. Had a look on the tracker and most of their meals are around the 10/11 pp mark.

Report
NormaSknockers · 16/01/2011 09:21

As far as I know M&S is still in old points as are Tesco & Morrisons as they haven't switched over yet so you'd be right Wynken. Blondes you'll probaby find those meals were about 10 PPs

mrsmeadweed · 16/01/2011 09:46

I've found that some of the M&S 'Fuller for Longer' range are ok. They're not as low as the Count on Us range, but if you're having them as a complete, main meal, they're pretty satisfying.
I haven't had any for a while, so I can't remember any details, I'll see if I can find some info in some old trackers.

Hello just marking my place! I did a beef casserole in my slow cooker

2 packets lean stewing steak
1 bott1e red wine
2 onions
4 carrots
1 swede
1 packet mushrooms
1 packet beef cssserole mix colemans.

I added everything by weight on the online tracker and divided into portions and its only 6 pp each serving. i freeze it into individual portions and defrost it one at a time so the measurements are correct. I have been having it with 2 sliced of ww bread or extra veggies and its a whole meal, very tasty too.

BUGGER

you are both right :(

the reason i didnt double check, was the first meal i picked up was the prawn curry and that is pp so thought they all were

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

did a quick calculate

have tried several and so far yummy ones are

chicken and mash 8 not 6

braised steak and carrots 10 or 5 for 1/2 5 for whole pack, but can easily share with oh and have 2.5 with some rice/mash etc

meatballs 9 not 6

chicken,veg and pasta 10 not 6

prawn masala 9 the only pp one so is still right

sausage and mash 9 not 6

i feel like a typical blonde Blush why didnt i check :( but saying that, i have been eating them and still lost 3 lbs, guess they extra pp must have come out of my 49

Blondeshavemorefun · 16/01/2011 12:51
