Can anyone recommend a good youth hostel to go to? I want to try one of their family deals but haven't been in a youth hostel since my school days. It looks pretty good value - £29.95 for a family room and that price includes an evening meal (what they desribe as a 'family feast'), but I want to make sure I take the family to one of their better properties and not a damp old barn in a windy field!

hello

Keswick - fab youth hostel right in the town - great food & family rooms
Derbyshire - can't remember the name and off to pick child up now will try and remmeber later and look back in - but if you cant wait then go on YHA it s is the derbyshire one that has family rooms
another one we stayed at near Elterwater?? (bit basic but good locattion - cant remmber if had family rooms was few years ago)
hope this helsps - sorry in a rush grin

Sheringham is lovely, I found it child friendly and they have a resturauant which was very cheap smile

Youth hostels had just begun switching to duvets instead of those sheet sleeping bags last time I stayed there (2010) which was even better:-)

Thanks ever so much. We've now stayed as a family in 3 YHAs, using their special winter £29.95 offers. All of them have been excellent and the food surprisingly good. Can heartily recommend Keswick, Pen-y-Pass (really close to Snowdon) and Haworth. I'm converted! Used to stay in Travelodges and budget hotels with the kids but good ole YHA have won me over!!
